Mīmāmsa Sūtra 01.01.01

अथातो धर्मजिज्ञासा ॥१॥

athāto dharmajijñāsā ॥1॥

[अथ (atha) - now then; अतः (ataḥ) - therefore; धर्म (dharma) - dharma; जिज्ञासा (jijñāsā) - desire to know;]

(Now then, therefore, (let there be) a desire to know dharma.)

Now, therefore, the inquiry into dharma begins.
