Narayana Sūkta
Narayana Sūkta 06 and 07
अनन्तं अव्ययं कविं समुद्रेन्तं विश्वशंभुवम्। पद्म कोश प्रतीकाशं हृदयं च अपि अधोमुखम्॥
anantaṁ avyayaṁ kaviṁ samudrēntaṁ viśvaśaṁbhuvam। padma kōśa pratīkāśaṁ hr̥dayaṁ ca api adhōmukham॥
[anantaṁ = end less; avyayaṁ = indestructible; kaviṁ = seer; samudrēntaṁ = like the ocean; viśvaśaṁbhuvam = the origin of the universe;। padma kōśa = lotus covering; pratīkāśaṁ = resembling; hr̥dayaṁ = heart; ca = and;api = even; adhōmukham = facing downward facing;॥]
अधो निष्ठ्या वितस्त्यान्ते नाभ्याम् उपरि तिष्ठति। ज्वालामालाकुलं भाती विश्वस्यायतनं महत्॥
adhō niṣṭhyā vitastyāntē nābhyām upari tiṣṭhati। jvālāmālākulaṁ bhātī viśvasyāyatanaṁ mahat॥
[adhō = below; niṣṭhyā = of the Adams apple; vitastyāntē = of the measure of a finger span from the end; nābhyām upari = above the navel; tiṣṭhati = stands;। jvālāmālākulaṁ = surrounded by fire; bhātī = glows; viśvasyāyatanaṁ = the abode of the universe; mahat = the great;॥]
He is endless and indestructible like the ocean, and is the origin of the universe. In the heart, resembling downward facing lotus covering, below the Adam's apple, a measure of finger span from its edge, surrounded by fire, glowing, above the navel, stands the abode of the great lord of the universe.
