Vaisesika Sūtra 1.2.1

कारणाभावात् कार्याभावः ॥१॥

kāraṇābhāvāt kāryābhāvaḥ ॥1॥

[कारण अभावात् कार्य अभावः॥
kāraṇa = cause; abhāvāt = from the absence of; kārya = effect; abhāvaḥ = absent;॥]

Due to the absence of the cause, there is the absence of the effect.
