Vaisesika Sūtra 2.2.02

व्यवस्थितः पृथिव्यां गन्धः ॥२॥

vyavasthitaḥ pr̥thivyāṁ gandhaḥ ॥2॥

[व्यवस्थितः (vyavasthitaḥ) - established, arranged; पृथिव्यां (pṛthivyāṃ) - in the earth; गन्धः (gandhaḥ) - fragrance, scent;]

The property of fragrance is established in the earth (as a distinguishing mark).
