Vaisesika Sūtra 2.2.13

कार्यविशेषेण नानात्वम् ॥१३॥

kāryaviśeṣeṇa nānātvam ॥13॥

[कार्य (kārya): Effect or result; विशेष (viśeṣa): Special or particular; एण (eṇa): By; नाना (nānā): Various or diverse; त्वम् (tvam): comes into being;]

By the particular speciality of the effects, the variance comes into being.
