Chapter 8: Satyavatī summons Vyāsa to preserve the Kuru line; Dhṛtarāṣṭra, Pāṇḍu and Vidura are born.
Grieving Satyavatī invokes emergency dharma to preserve the lineage and asks Bhīṣma to beget heirs; Bhīṣma reminds her of his vow.

Bhīṣma rejects Satyavatī’s proposal and suggests another means to continue the lineage.
