[dr̥ṣṭam = direct perception; anumānam = inference; āptavacanaṁ = trustworthy statements from dear ones; ca = and; sarva = all are; pramāṇa = accepted evidence as proof; siddhatvāt = when established; trividhaṁ = three types; pramāṇam = the evidence; iṣṭaṁ = desired as; prameya siddhiḥ = establishing the hypothesis; pramāṇāt = through evidential proof; hi= is possible only;]
Three types of well-established evidential proof are direct perception, inference, and trustworthy statements from dear ones. The evidence is desired, as establishing hypothesis is possible only through evidential proof.
