[वैराग्यात् प्रकृति लयः संसारो भवति राजसात् रागात्। ऐश्वर्यात् अविघातो विपर्ययात् तत् विपर्यासः॥
vairāgyāt = from dispassion; prakr̥ti layaḥ = dissolution of prakruti; saṁsārō = by dwelling in social and family affairs; bhavati = comes; rājasāt = from rajasic quality; rāgāt = passion; aiśvaryāt = from the wealth; avighātō = non obstruction; viparyayāt = the contrary; tat viparyāsaḥ = results in despair;]
From dispassion comes the dissolution of prakriti. By dwelling in social and family affairs comes the rajasic passion. The wealth results in non-obstruction while the contrary results in despair.
While dispassion is advocated and passion must be avoided, it is interesting to note how Sankhya advocates general wellbeing with the help of wealth.
