Sankhya Kārika
Karika 59
रङ्गस्य दर्शयित्वा निवर्तते नर्तकी यथा नृत्यात्। पुरुषस्य तथात्मानं प्रकाश्य विनिवर्तते प्रकृतिः ॥५९॥
raṅgasya darśayitvā nivartatē nartakī yathā nr̥tyāt। puruṣasya tathātmānaṁ prakāśya vinivartatē prakr̥tiḥ ॥59॥
[रङ्गस्य दर्शयित्वा निवर्तते नर्तकी यथा नृत्यात्। पुरुषस्य तथ आत्मानं प्रकाश्य विनिवर्तते प्रकृतिः॥
raṅgasya = from the stage; darśayitvā = exhibiting; nivartatē = returns; nartakī = the dancer; yathā = similar to / like; nr̥tyāt = dance performance; puruṣasya = to purusha; tatha ātmānaṁ = the soul; prakāśya = after illuminating; vinivartatē = returns; prakr̥tiḥ = the prakruti;]
The dancer exhibiting herself returns from the stage after the performance. Similarly, the prakruthi returns after illuminating the ātman (the God) to the purusha (the being).
A clear distinction is made here between purusha, the soul, the ātman, the God, and the prakruthi, the material cause.
