Vaisesika Sūtra 1.1.6
रूपरसगन्ध स्पर्शाः संख्याः परिमाणानि पृथक्त्वं संयोगविभागौ परत्वाऽपरत्वे बुद्धयः सुखदुःखे इच्छाद्वेषौ प्रयत्नाश्च गुणाः ॥६॥
rūparasagandha sparśāḥ saṁkhyāḥ pari māṇāni pr̥thaktvaṁ saṁyōgavibhāgau paratvā'paratvē buddhayaḥ sukhaduḥkhē icchādvēṣau prayatnāśca guṇāḥ ॥6॥
[रूप रस गन्ध स्पर्श अः संख्याः परिमाणानि पृथक्त्वं संयोग विभागौ परत्वा अपरत्वे बुद्धयः सुखदुःखे इच्छा द्वेषौ प्रयत्नाः च गुणाः॥
rūpa = form; rasa = taste; gandha = smell; sparśa = touch; aḥ = hearing; saṁkhyāḥ = count; parimāṇāni = resultant effects; pr̥thaktvaṁ = individuality; saṁyōga = conjunction; vibhāgau = disjunction; paratvā aparatvē = existence, beyond existence; buddhayaḥ = understanding resulting from it; sukhaduḥkhē = pleasure and pain; icchā = desire; dvēṣau = hatred; prayatnāḥ = efforts/ drive; ca = are; guṇāḥ = qualities;॥]
The form, taste, smell, touch, hearing, their count in multiples, their effects individually, in conjunction, and in disjunction, their material existence and beyond, understanding resulting from it, consequent pleasure and pain experienced, resulting wish and hatred, arising of drive are the gunas, i.e. qualities.
