Vaisesika Sūtra 2.2.10

इत इदमिति यतस्तद्दिश्यं लिङ्गम् ॥१०॥

ita idamiti yatastaddiśyaṁ liṅgam ॥10॥

[इत् (it) - that; इदम् (idam) - this; इति (iti) - thus; यतः (yataḥ) - from which; तत् (tat) - that; दिश्यम् (diśyam) - indicating; लिङ्गम् (liṅgam) - characteristic / distinguishing mark;]

"It is this" - which indicates thus, is the distinguishing mark.
