Vaisesika Sūtra 8.1.05

सामान्यविशेषेषु सामान्यविशेषाभावात् तत एव ज्ञानम् ॥५॥

Among the sāmānya, i.e. generality, and viśeṣa, i.e. particularity, due to the absence of their generality (in particularity) and particularity (in generality), from that alone, knowledge arises.
