Chapter 10: Janamejaya asks for the lineage of Pūru, and Vaiśampāyana traces successive rulers through Bharata, Bhumanyu, Ajamīḍha, Saṃvaraṇa and Kuru to Pratīpa and Śantanu. The chapter also contains supplementary genealogical variants and increasingly expansive accounts of royal sacrifices, prosperity and gifts.
भगवञ्श्रोतुमिच्छामि पूरोर्वंशकरान्नृपान्। यद्वीर्या यादृशाश्चैव यावन्तो यत्पराक्रमाः ॥BORI: ०१-८९-१॥

Those self-controlled, benevolent, and un envious men devoted to the Vedas who recite this sacred history in full, or who listen to it, will attain heaven and dwell in blessed realms, always honored and revered by gods, Brahmins, and human beings. (NILA: 01.095.088)

For this Bharata, proclaimed by the blessed Vyasa, is supreme and purifying. Those of the social classes beginning with the Brahmins who listen to it with faith, free from envy, friendly, and versed in the Vedas, also win heaven, become meritorious, and are beyond regret over what they have done or left undone.
