The thousand names of Viṣṇu
वैशम्पायन उवाच॥
Vaiśampāyana said.
श्रुत्वा धर्मानशेषेण पावनानि च सर्वशः। युधिष्ठिरः शान्तनवं पुनरेवाभ्यभाषत ॥१३-१३५-१॥
Having listened completely to all the purifying laws, Yudhiṣṭhira once again spoke to the son of Śāntanu (Bhīṣma). (13-135-1)
किमेकं दैवतं लोके किं वाप्येकं परायणम्। स्तुवन्तः कं कमर्चन्तः प्राप्नुयुर्मानवाः शुभम् ॥१३-१३५-२॥
Which is the one divinity in the world, or what is the one supreme goal? Praising whom and worshipping whom do humans attain good? (13-135-2)
को धर्मः सर्वधर्माणां भवतः परमो मतः। किं जपन्मुच्यते जन्तुर्जन्मसंसारबन्धनात् ॥१३-१३५-३॥
Of all duties, which one do you consider to be supreme? By reciting what is a creature freed from the bondage of birth and worldly existence? (13-135-3)
भीष्म उवाच॥
Bhīṣma said.
जगत्प्रभुं देवदेवमनन्तं पुरुषोत्तमम्। स्तुवन्नामसहस्रेण पुरुषः सततोत्थितः ॥१३-१३५-४॥
A person who, always risen, praises with a thousand names the lord of the world, the god of gods, the endless, the supreme person. (13-135-4)
तमेव चार्चयन्नित्यं भक्त्या पुरुषमव्ययम्। ध्यायन्स्तुवन्नमस्यंश्च यजमानस्तमेव च ॥१३-१३५-५॥
Worshipping him alone always with devotion as the imperishable Person, meditating upon, praising, and bowing to him, and being the sacrificer, (one should adore) him alone. (13-135-5)
अनादिनिधनं विष्णुं सर्वलोकमहेश्वरम्। लोकाध्यक्षं स्तुवन्नित्यं सर्वदुःखातिगो भवेत् ॥१३-१३५-६॥
Whoever always praises Viṣṇu—who is without beginning and end, the great lord and overseer of all worlds—becomes free from all sorrow. (13-135-6)
ब्रह्मण्यं सर्वधर्मज्ञं लोकानां कीर्तिवर्धनम्। लोकनाथं महद्भूतं सर्वभूतभवोद्भवम् ॥१३-१३५-७॥
He is devoted to Brahman, knower of all dharmas, enhancer of the fame of the worlds, lord of the worlds, a great being, and the source of the origin of all beings. (13-135-7)
एष मे सर्वधर्माणां धर्मोऽधिकतमो मतः। यद्भक्त्या पुण्डरीकाक्षं स्तवैरर्चेन्नरः सदा ॥१३-१३५-८॥
Of all dharmas, this is regarded by me as the most excellent: that a person should always worship Puṇḍarīkākṣa (the lotus-eyed one) with hymns and devotion. (13-135-8)
परमं यो महत्तेजः परमं यो महत्तपः। परमं यो महद्ब्रह्म परमं यः परायणम् ॥१३-१३५-९॥
He who is the supreme great splendor, who is the supreme great austerity, who is the supreme great Brahman, who is the supreme goal. (13-135-9)
पवित्राणां पवित्रं यो मङ्गलानां च मङ्गलम्। दैवतं देवतानां च भूतानां योऽव्ययः पिता ॥१३-१३५-१०॥
He who is the purest among pure things, the most auspicious among auspicious things, the divinity among gods and among beings, the imperishable father. (13-135-10)
यतः सर्वाणि भूतानि भवन्त्यादियुगागमे। यस्मिंश्च प्रलयं यान्ति पुनरेव युगक्षये ॥१३-१३५-११॥
From whom all beings originate at the beginning of the first age, and into whom they all return upon the dissolution at the end of the age. (13-135-11)
तस्य लोकप्रधानस्य जगन्नाथस्य भूपते। विष्णोर्नामसहस्रं मे शृणु पापभयापहम् ॥१३-१३५-१२॥
O King, of that foremost among people, the Lord of the universe, hear from me the thousand names of Viṣṇu, which remove the fear of sin. (13-135-12)
यानि नामानि गौणानि विख्यातानि महात्मनः। ऋषिभिः परिगीतानि तानि वक्ष्यामि भूतये ॥१३-१३५-१३॥
I will recite those secondary and well-known names of the great soul, which have been sung by sages, for the benefit of all. (13-135-13)
विश्वं विष्णुर्वषट्कारो भूतभव्यभवत्प्रभुः। भूतकृद्भूतभृद्भावो भूतात्मा भूतभावनः ॥१३-१३५-१४॥
Viṣṇu is the universe, the utterance 'vaṣaṭ', the lord of past, future, and present, the creator, sustainer, and source of all beings, the soul of beings, and the one who produces all beings. (13-135-14)
पूतात्मा परमात्मा च मुक्तानां परमा गतिः। अव्ययः पुरुषः साक्षी क्षेत्रज्ञोऽक्षर एव च ॥१३-१३५-१५॥
He is the purified self, the Supreme Self, and the highest goal of the liberated; He is the imperishable person, the witness, the knower of the field, and indeed the imperishable. (13-135-15)
योगो योगविदां नेता प्रधानपुरुषेश्वरः। नारसिंहवपुः श्रीमान्केशवः पुरुषोत्तमः ॥१३-१३५-१६॥
He is union itself, the leader of those who know yoga, lord of primordial matter and spirit, who possesses the Man-Lion form, the auspicious one, Keśava, and the supreme Person. (13-135-16)
सर्वः शर्वः शिवः स्थाणुर्भूतादिर्निधिरव्ययः। सम्भवो भावनो भर्ता प्रभवः प्रभुरीश्वरः ॥१३-१३५-१७॥
He is all, the Destroyer, the Auspicious One, the Firm and Unmoving, the Origin of beings, the Treasure, the Imperishable; He is the Cause, the Creator, the Sustainer, the Source, the Lord, the Supreme Controller. (13-135-17)
स्वयम्भूः शम्भुरादित्यः पुष्कराक्षो महास्वनः। अनादिनिधनो धाता विधाता धातुरुत्तमः ॥१३-१३५-१८॥
The self-existent one, the source of happiness, the sun, lotus-eyed, one with great sound, the one without beginning or end, the sustainer, the creator, the best among supporters. (13-135-18)
अप्रमेयो हृषीकेशः पद्मनाभोऽमरप्रभुः। विश्वकर्मा मनुस्त्वष्टा स्थविष्ठः स्थविरो ध्रुवः ॥१३-१३५-१९॥
He is immeasurable, Hṛṣīkeśa (the lord of the senses), Padmanābha (the lotus-naveled), the lord of the immortals, Viśvakarmā (the creator), Manu (the progenitor), Tvaṣṭā (the divine artisan), the most massive, the ancient one, and the unchanging. (13-135-19)
अग्राह्यः शाश्वतः कृष्णो लोहिताक्षः प्रतर्दनः। प्रभूतस्त्रिककुब्धाम पवित्रं मङ्गलं परम् ॥१३-१३५-२०॥
He is inconceivable, eternal, Kṛṣṇa, red-eyed, the destroyer, abundant, the one possessing the three regions, pure, auspicious, and supreme. (13-135-20)
ईशानः प्राणदः प्राणो ज्येष्ठः श्रेष्ठः प्रजापतिः। हिरण्यगर्भो भूगर्भो माधवो मधुसूदनः ॥१३-१३५-२१॥
He is the Lord, the giver of life-breath, life-breath itself, the eldest, the best, the lord of creatures, the golden-embryo, the womb of the earth, the descendant of Madhu, and the destroyer of Madhu. (13-135-21)
ईश्वरो विक्रमी धन्वी मेधावी विक्रमः क्रमः। अनुत्तमो दुराधर्षः कृतज्ञः कृतिरात्मवान् ॥१३-१३५-२२॥
He is a lord, powerful, armed with a bow, intelligent, valorous, orderly, unsurpassed, unassailable, grateful, accomplished, and self-possessed. (13-135-22)
सुरेशः शरणं शर्म विश्वरेताः प्रजाभवः। अहः संवत्सरो व्यालः प्रत्ययः सर्वदर्शनः ॥१३-१३५-२३॥
The lord of the gods, the refuge, the source of happiness, the seed of the universe, the origin of beings, day, year, serpent, certainty, and the all-seeing one. (13-135-23)
अजः सर्वेश्वरः सिद्धः सिद्धिः सर्वादिरच्युतः। वृषाकपिरमेयात्मा सर्वयोगविनिःसृतः ॥१३-१३५-२४॥
He is the unborn, the lord of all, the perfected, perfection itself, the origin of all, the infallible, Vrishakapi (he whose symbol is the bull or the monkey), the one of immeasurable essence, and who arises from all Yogas. (13-135-24)
वसुर्वसुमनाः सत्यः समात्मा संमितः समः। अमोघः पुण्डरीकाक्षो वृषकर्मा वृषाकृतिः ॥१३-१३५-२५॥
He is wealth, whose mind abounds in wealth, who is truthful, identical in essence, well-measured, impartial, unfailing, lotus-eyed, the performer of righteous deeds, and the very form of righteousness. (13-135-25)
रुद्रो बहुशिरा बभ्रुर्विश्वयोनिः शुचिश्रवाः। अमृतः शाश्वतः स्थाणुर्वरारोहो महातपाः ॥१३-१३५-२६॥
He is Rudra, many-headed, tawny in color, the origin of all, renowned for pure fame, immortal, eternal, unchanging, possessing the supreme elevation, and endowed with great austerity. (13-135-26)
सर्वगः सर्वविद्भानुर्विष्वक्सेनो जनार्दनः। वेदो वेदविदव्यङ्गो वेदाङ्गो वेदवित्कविः ॥१३-१३५-२७॥
He who pervades all, knows all, is radiant, whose army is everywhere, and who removes the sufferings of people; who is the Veda itself, knows the Veda, is faultless, is the limbs of the Veda, knows the Veda, and is the seer. (13-135-27)
लोकाध्यक्षः सुराध्यक्षो धर्माध्यक्षः कृताकृतः। चतुरात्मा चतुर्व्यूहश्चतुर्दंष्ट्रश्चतुर्भुजः ॥१३-१३५-२८॥
He is the overseer of the worlds, the overseer of gods, the overseer of righteousness; he is both the creator and the non-creator, has a fourfold nature, four manifestations, four fangs, and four arms. (13-135-28)
भ्राजिष्णुर्भोजनं भोक्ता सहिष्णुर्जगदादिजः। अनघो विजयो जेता विश्वयोनिः पुनर्वसुः ॥१३-१३५-२९॥
He is the shining one, the food, the enjoyer, the enduring one, the original born of the world, the sinless, the victorious, the conqueror, the origin of all, the ever-wealthy. (13-135-29)
उपेन्द्रो वामनः प्रांशुरमोघः शुचिरूर्जितः। अतीन्द्रः सङ्ग्रहः सर्गो धृतात्मा नियमो यमः ॥१३-१३५-३०॥
He is Upendra, the Dwarf; lofty, infallible, pure, powerful, surpassing Indra, a gatherer, the creator, steadfast in self, disciplined, and the controller. (13-135-30)
वेद्यो वैद्यः सदायोगी वीरहा माधवो मधुः। अतीन्द्रियो महामायो महोत्साहो महाबलः ॥१३-१३५-३१॥
He is to be known, the knower, ever a yogin, destroyer of heroes, Madhava, Madhu, beyond the senses, the great illusionist, of great energy, the mighty one. (13-135-31)
महाबुद्धिर्महावीर्यो महाशक्तिर्महाद्युतिः। अनिर्देश्यवपुः श्रीमानमेयात्मा महाद्रिधृक् ॥१३-१३५-३२॥
He possesses great intellect, great energy, great power, and great splendor; his form is indescribable, he is endowed with fortune, his self is immeasurable, and he holds up great mountains. (13-135-32)
महेष्वासो महीभर्ता श्रीनिवासः सतां गतिः। अनिरुद्धः सुरानन्दो गोविन्दो गोविदां पतिः ॥१३-१३५-३३॥
He is the great bowman, the holder of the earth, the abode of Śrī, the refuge of the virtuous; he is unobstructed, the delight of the gods, Govinda, and the lord of the wise. (13-135-33)
मरीचिर्दमनो हंसः सुपर्णो भुजगोत्तमः। हिरण्यनाभः सुतपाः पद्मनाभः प्रजापतिः ॥१३-१३५-३४॥
He is Marīci, the subduer, the swan, Garuda, the best of serpents, golden-navelled, performer of great austerities, lotus-navelled, and the lord of creatures. (13-135-34)
अमृत्युः सर्वदृक्सिंहः सन्धाता सन्धिमान्स्थिरः। अजो दुर्मर्षणः शास्ता विश्रुतात्मा सुरारिहा ॥१३-१३५-३५॥
He is the deathless one, the all-seeing lion, the uniter, possessed of alliances, steadfast, unborn, hard to subdue, the teacher, famed in spirit, destroyer of the foes of the gods. (13-135-35)
गुरुर्गुरुतमो धाम सत्यः सत्यपराक्रमः। निमिषोऽनिमिषः स्रग्वी वाचस्पतिरुदारधीः ॥१३-१३५-३६॥
He is the teacher, the most venerable; the abode (of brilliance); the truthful one, of true valor; with eyes closed and unclosed; wearing a garland; master of speech; and possessed of noble intellect. (13-135-36)
अग्रणीर्ग्रामणीः श्रीमान्न्यायो नेता समीरणः। सहस्रमूर्धा विश्वात्मा सहस्राक्षः सहस्रपात् ॥१३-१३५-३७॥
Leader, chief, illustrious one, justice, guide, breath of life, the thousand-headed, soul of the universe, thousand-eyed, thousand-footed. (13-135-37)
आवर्तनो निवृत्तात्मा संवृतः सम्प्रमर्दनः। अहः संवर्तको वह्निरनिलो धरणीधरः ॥१३-१३५-३८॥
He who revolves, the withdrawn self, the concealed one, the destroyer, day, the dissolver, fire, wind, the holder of the earth. (13-135-38)
सुप्रसादः प्रसन्नात्मा विश्वधृग्विश्वभुग्विभुः। सत्कर्ता सत्कृतः साधुर्जह्नुर्नारायणो नरः ॥१३-१३५-३९॥
He is of excellent favor, tranquil in spirit, the supporter and enjoyer of the universe, all-pervading, the doer of noble acts, honored, virtuous, Jahnu, Nārāyaṇa, and Nara. (13-135-39)
असङ्ख्येयोऽप्रमेयात्मा विशिष्टः शिष्टकृच्छुचिः। सिद्धार्थः सिद्धसङ्कल्पः सिद्धिदः सिद्धिसाधनः ॥१३-१३५-४०॥
He is innumerable, of immeasurable nature, distinct, the performer of auspicious acts, pure, whose purposes are accomplished, whose resolves are fulfilled, who gives success, and who is the means to attainment of success. (13-135-40)
वृषाही वृषभो विष्णुर्वृषपर्वा वृषोदरः। वर्धनो वर्धमानश्च विविक्तः श्रुतिसागरः ॥१३-१३५-४१॥
He who bears the burden, the bull, Vishnu, strong as a bull, one with a bull-like belly, the increaser, ever-growing, distinguished, and the ocean of the Vedas. (13-135-41)
सुभुजो दुर्धरो वाग्मी महेन्द्रो वसुदो वसुः। नैकरूपो बृहद्रूपः शिपिविष्टः प्रकाशनः ॥१३-१३५-४२॥
He has beautiful arms, is difficult to be borne, eloquent, the great Indra, the giver of wealth, the treasure, of many forms, of great form, pervaded by rays, and the revealer. (13-135-42)
ओजस्तेजो द्युतिधरः प्रकाशात्मा प्रतापनः। ऋद्धः स्पष्टाक्षरो मन्त्रश्चन्द्रांशुर्भास्करद्युतिः ॥१३-१३५-४३॥
He is vigor, splendor, bearer of radiance, whose essence is light, the blazener, the prosperous, whose syllables are clear, the mantra, ray of the moon, and one with the brilliance of the sun. (13-135-43)
अमृतांशूद्भवो भानुः शशबिन्दुः सुरेश्वरः। औषधं जगतः सेतुः सत्यधर्मपराक्रमः ॥१३-१३५-४४॥
He who is born of the nectar-rayed moon, who is the radiant one, the moon-marked, lord of the gods, the medicine, the bridge of the world, and whose valor lies in true righteousness. (13-135-44)
भूतभव्यभवन्नाथः पवनः पावनोऽनिलः। कामहा कामकृत्कान्तः कामः कामप्रदः प्रभुः ॥१३-१३५-४५॥
He is the Lord of past, future, and present; the wind, the purifier, the breath; the destroyer of desire, creator of desire, the beloved, desire itself, the giver of desires, and the Lord. (13-135-45)
युगादिकृद्युगावर्तो नैकमायो महाशनः। अदृश्यो व्यक्तरूपश्च सहस्रजिदनन्तजित् ॥१३-१३५-४६॥
He is the originator of the ages, the revolver of time cycles, one of many illusions, the great consumer, invisible, yet of manifest form, conqueror of thousands, and conqueror of the infinite. (13-135-46)
इष्टो विशिष्टः शिष्टेष्टः शिखण्डी नहुषो वृषः। क्रोधहा क्रोधकृत्कर्ता विश्वबाहुर्महीधरः ॥१३-१३५-४७॥
Beloved, special, the most esteemed by the noble, crested, Nahusha, a bull, the destroyer of anger, the creator of anger, the doer, all-armed, and bearer of the earth. (13-135-47)
अच्युतः प्रथितः प्राणः प्राणदो वासवानुजः। अपां निधिरधिष्ठानमप्रमत्तः प्रतिष्ठितः ॥१३-१३५-४८॥
The unfailing one, renowned, the vital breath, the giver of life, the younger brother of Vāsava (Indra); the treasury and abode of the waters, ever-vigilant, the established one. (13-135-48)
स्कन्दः स्कन्दधरो धुर्यो वरदो वायुवाहनः। वासुदेवो बृहद्भानुरादिदेवः पुरंदरः ॥१३-१३५-४९॥
Skanda, bearer of Skanda, chief, grantor of boons, vehicle of Vāyu, Vāsudeva, radiant one, primordial god, and destroyer of cities. (13-135-49)
अशोकस्तारणस्तारः शूरः शौरिर्जनेश्वरः। अनुकूलः शतावर्तः पद्मी पद्मनिभेक्षणः ॥१३-१३५-५०॥
He is free from sorrow, a rescuer, a savior, valiant, a descendant of Śūra, lord of the people, favorable, versatile, possessor of lotuses, and has eyes like lotuses. (13-135-50)
पद्मनाभोऽरविन्दाक्षः पद्मगर्भः शरीरभृत्। महर्द्धिरृद्धो वृद्धात्मा महाक्षो गरुडध्वजः ॥१३-१३५-५१॥
He who is lotus-naveled, lotus-eyed, lotus-born, bearer of all bodies, possessed of great prosperity, prosperous, eternal self, great-eyed, and whose banner bears Garuḍa. (13-135-51)
अतुलः शरभो भीमः समयज्ञो हविर्हरिः। सर्वलक्षणलक्षण्यो लक्ष्मीवान्समितिञ्जयः ॥१३-१३५-५२॥
He is incomparable, like the śarabha (mythical beast), formidable, a knower of proper time, remover of offerings, distinguished by all auspicious marks, possessed of fortune, and victorious in battle. (13-135-52)
विक्षरो रोहितो मार्गो हेतुर्दामोदरः सहः। महीधरो महाभागो वेगवानमिताशनः ॥१३-१३५-५३॥
He is diffusing, red, the path, the cause, Dāmodara, powerful, the mountain, greatly fortunate, swift, and of immeasurable appetite. (13-135-53)
उद्भवः क्षोभणो देवः श्रीगर्भः परमेश्वरः। करणं कारणं कर्ता विकर्ता गहनो गुहः ॥१३-१३५-५४॥
He is the origin, the agitator, the god, the one who contains prosperity, the Supreme Lord. He is the instrument, the cause, the doer, the transformer, the impenetrable, and the hidden one. (13-135-54)
व्यवसायो व्यवस्थानः संस्थानः स्थानदो ध्रुवः। परर्द्धिः परमः स्पष्टस्तुष्टः पुष्टः शुभेक्षणः ॥१३-१३५-५५॥
He is resolution, firm establishment, configuration, giver of position, the immovable one, supreme prosperity, the supreme, clearly satisfied, nourished, and one with auspicious sight. (13-135-55)
रामो विरामो विरतो मार्गो नेयो नयोऽनयः। वीरः शक्तिमतां श्रेष्ठो धर्मो धर्मविदुत्तमः ॥१३-१३५-५६॥
Rāma is cessation, he is detached, he is the path, he is to be led, he is policy and improper conduct; he is a hero, the best among the powerful, righteousness, and the supreme among those who know dharma. (13-135-56)
वैकुण्ठः पुरुषः प्राणः प्राणदः प्रणवः पृथुः। हिरण्यगर्भः शत्रुघ्नो व्याप्तो वायुरधोक्षजः ॥१३-१३५-५७॥
He is the unobstructed one, the supreme being, the life-breath, the giver of breath, the sacred syllable Om, the vast one, the golden embryo, the destroyer of enemies, the all-pervading, the wind, and the one born beyond material perception. (13-135-57)
ऋतुः सुदर्शनः कालः परमेष्ठी परिग्रहः। उग्रः संवत्सरो दक्षो विश्रामो विश्वदक्षिणः ॥१३-१३५-५८॥
He is the season, the one of beautiful appearance, time, the supreme lord, the embracer, the fierce one, the year, the skilful one, rest, and the one who rules all directions. (13-135-58)
विस्तारः स्थावरः स्थाणुः प्रमाणं बीजमव्ययम्। अर्थोऽनर्थो महाकोशो महाभोगो महाधनः ॥१३-१३५-५९॥
He is expansion, immovable, the firm one, the measure, the imperishable seed, the meaning and the non-meaning, the great treasury, the great enjoyer, and the possessor of great wealth. (13-135-59)
अनिर्विण्णः स्थविष्ठो भूर्धर्मयूपो महामखः। नक्षत्रनेमिर्नक्षत्री क्षमः क्षामः समीहनः ॥१३-१३५-६०॥
He is never despondent, perfectly solid, the earth, the pillar of dharma, the great sacrifice, the circumference of the stars, he who abides among the stars, forbearing, thin, and acting with effort. (13-135-60)
यज्ञ इज्यो महेज्यश्च क्रतुः सत्रं सतां गतिः। सर्वदर्शी विमुक्तात्मा सर्वज्ञो ज्ञानमुत्तमम् ॥१३-१३५-६१॥
He is the sacrifice, the object of worship, the greatest object of worship, the ritual act, the sacrificial session, and the path of the virtuous; the all-seer, the liberated soul, the all-knower, and the supreme knowledge. (13-135-61)
सुव्रतः सुमुखः सूक्ष्मः सुघोषः सुखदः सुहृत्। मनोहरो जितक्रोधो वीरबाहुर्विदारणः ॥१३-१३५-६२॥
He who is of good vows, with an auspicious face, subtle, with a melodious voice, giver of happiness, a true friend, enchanting, one who has conquered anger, having heroic arms, and is a destroyer. (13-135-62)
स्वापनः स्ववशो व्यापी नैकात्मा नैककर्मकृत्। वत्सरो वत्सलो वत्सी रत्नगर्भो धनेश्वरः ॥१३-१३५-६३॥
He who induces sleep, is self-controlled and all-pervading, of many forms, doer of many actions, is the year, is affectionate, has calves, contains jewels within himself, and is the lord of wealth. (13-135-63)
धर्मगुब्धर्मकृद्धर्मी सदसत्क्षरमक्षरम्। अविज्ञाता सहस्रांशुर्विधाता कृतलक्षणः ॥१३-१३५-६४॥
The protector of dharma, performer of dharma, righteous; both existent and non-existent, perishable and imperishable; the unknown, one with a thousand rays, the ordainer, one who has set the characteristics. (13-135-64)
गभस्तिनेमिः सत्त्वस्थः सिंहो भूतमहेश्वरः। आदिदेवो महादेवो देवेशो देवभृद्गुरुः ॥१३-१३५-६५॥
He who has the nave of rays, abides in essence, is lion-like, the great lord of beings, the primordial god, the great god, lord of the gods, and teacher of Indra. (13-135-65)
उत्तरो गोपतिर्गोप्ता ज्ञानगम्यः पुरातनः। शरीरभूतभृद्भोक्ता कपीन्द्रो भूरिदक्षिणः ॥१३-१३५-६६॥
He is superior, the lord of cows, the protector, comprehended through knowledge, ancient, supporter of the beings of the body, the enjoyer, the lord of monkeys, and one who is very generous. (13-135-66)
सोमपोऽमृतपः सोमः पुरुजित्पुरुसत्तमः। विनयो जयः सत्यसन्धो दाशार्हः सात्वतां पतिः ॥१३-१३५-६७॥
He is the drinker of soma, the drinker of nectar, the Moon, the conqueror of many, the best among men, humility, victory, the one true to his resolve, the descendant of the Daśārhas, and the lord of the Sātvatas. (13-135-67)
जीवो विनयिता साक्षी मुकुन्दोऽमितविक्रमः। अम्भोनिधिरनन्तात्मा महोदधिशयोऽन्तकः ॥१३-१३५-६८॥
He is the living being, the restrainer, the witness, Mukunda, the one of immeasurable valor, the ocean, the infinite soul, the one who lies upon the great ocean, and the destroyer. (13-135-68)
अजो महार्हः स्वाभाव्यो जितामित्रः प्रमोदनः। आनन्दो नन्दनो नन्दः सत्यधर्मा त्रिविक्रमः ॥१३-१३५-६९॥
He is unborn, supremely worthy, innately established by nature, conqueror of his foes, the one who brings delight, embodying bliss, the delighter, the joyful one, steadfast in the dharma of truth, and the strider of the three worlds. (13-135-69)
महर्षिः कपिलाचार्यः कृतज्ञो मेदिनीपतिः। त्रिपदस्त्रिदशाध्यक्षो महाशृङ्गः कृतान्तकृत् ॥१३-१३५-७०॥
He is the great sage, the teacher Kapila, one who is grateful, lord of the earth, possessed of three steps, overseer of the gods, great-horned, and the destroyer of death. (13-135-70)
महावराहो गोविन्दः सुषेणः कनकाङ्गदी। गुह्यो गभीरो गहनो गुप्तश्चक्रगदाधरः ॥१३-१३५-७१॥
He is the Great Boar, Govinda, one with good armies, adorned with golden armlets, secret, profound, inaccessible, protected, and the holder of the discus and mace. (13-135-71)
वेधाः स्वाङ्गोऽजितः कृष्णो दृढः सङ्कर्षणोऽच्युतः। वरुणो वारुणो वृक्षः पुष्कराक्षो महामनाः ॥१३-१३५-७२॥
Creator, self-sustained one, unconquered, dark one, steadfast, plough-puller, infallible, Varuṇa, son of Varuṇa, tree, lotus-eyed, great-minded. (13-135-72)
भगवान्भगहा नन्दी वनमाली हलायुधः। आदित्यो ज्योतिरादित्यः सहिष्णुर्गतिसत्तमः ॥१३-१३५-७३॥
The blessed one who removes fortune, the auspicious one adorned with a garland of forest flowers, wielder of the plough, an Āditya, radiant as the sun, patient, and supreme among those who move. (13-135-73)
सुधन्वा खण्डपरशुर्दारुणो द्रविणप्रदः। दिवःस्पृक्सर्वदृग्व्यासो वाचस्पतिरयोनिजः ॥१३-१३५-७४॥
Sudhanva, wielder of a broken axe, fierce one, giver of wealth, one who touches the sky, all-seeing, Vyāsa, master of speech, born not from a womb. (13-135-74)
त्रिसामा सामगः साम निर्वाणं भेषजं भिषक्। संन्यासकृच्छमः शान्तो निष्ठा शान्तिः परायणम् ॥१३-१३५-७५॥
He is the one associated with the three Sāma hymns, the singer of Sāma, the Sāma itself, the extinction (of suffering), the medicine, the physician; who performs renunciation as penance, who is peaceful, who is the foundation, who is peace, who is the highest goal. (13-135-75)
शुभाङ्गः शान्तिदः स्रष्टा कुमुदः कुवलेशयः। गोहितो गोपतिर्गोप्ता वृषभाक्षो वृषप्रियः ॥१३-१३५-७६॥
He whose form is auspicious, who gives peace, who is the creator, who is joyful, who dwells in the earth; the benefactor and lord and protector of cows, who is bull-eyed and fond of the bull. (13-135-76)
अनिवर्ती निवृत्तात्मा सङ्क्षेप्ता क्षेमकृच्छिवः। श्रीवत्सवक्षाः श्रीवासः श्रीपतिः श्रीमतां वरः ॥१३-१३५-७७॥
He who never turns back, whose mind is withdrawn from worldly things, who is a condenser (of knowledge), bringer of prosperity and auspiciousness, whose chest bears the Śrīvatsa, who is the abode and consort of Shri, and is foremost among the illustrious. (13-135-77)
श्रीदः श्रीशः श्रीनिवासः श्रीनिधिः श्रीविभावनः। श्रीधरः श्रीकरः श्रेयः श्रीमाँल्लोकत्रयाश्रयः ॥१३-१३५-७८॥
He is the giver of prosperity, the lord of wealth, the abode of prosperity, the treasure of fortune, the one who manifests wealth, the bearer of Lakṣmī, the bestower of prosperity, the embodiment of auspiciousness, the possessor of splendor, and the refuge of the three worlds. (13-135-78)
स्वक्षः स्वङ्गः शतानन्दो नन्दिर्ज्योतिर्गणेश्वरः। विजितात्मा विधेयात्मा सत्कीर्तिश्छिन्नसंशयः ॥१३-१३५-७९॥
He who has pure eyes, beautiful limbs, bestows countless joys, is joyful, lord of the luminaries, self-controlled, obedient, renowned for virtue, and whose doubts have been severed. (13-135-79)
उदीर्णः सर्वतश्चक्षुरनीशः शाश्वतः स्थिरः। भूशयो भूषणो भूतिर्विशोकः शोकनाशनः ॥१३-१३५-८०॥
He who is exalted, all-seeing, independent, eternal, steadfast, whose abode is the earth, who is the ornament, prosperity, free from sorrow, and destroyer of sorrow. (13-135-80)
अर्चिष्मानर्चितः कुम्भो विशुद्धात्मा विशोधनः। अनिरुद्धोऽप्रतिरथः प्रद्युम्नोऽमितविक्रमः ॥१३-१३५-८१॥
He is radiant, worshipped, Kumbha, the one with purified self and purifier; Aniruddha, peerless in battle, Pradyumna of immeasurable valor. (13-135-81)
कालनेमिनिहा वीरः शूरः शौरिर्जनेश्वरः। त्रिलोकात्मा त्रिलोकेशः केशवः केशिहा हरिः ॥१३-१३५-८२॥
He is the destroyer of Kālanemi, a hero, valiant, descendant of Śūra, lord of people, the soul and lord of the three worlds, the slayer and destroyer of Keśi, Hari. (13-135-82)
कामदेवः कामपालः कामी कान्तः कृतागमः। अनिर्देश्यवपुर्विष्णुर्वीरोऽनन्तो धनञ्जयः ॥१३-१३५-८३॥
God of Love, protector of desire, the desirous one, the beloved, the accomplisher of scriptures, he of indescribable form, Viṣṇu, the hero, the endless one, and the conqueror of wealth. (13-135-83)
ब्रह्मण्यो ब्रह्मकृद्ब्रह्मा ब्रह्म ब्रह्मविवर्धनः। ब्रह्मविद्ब्राह्मणो ब्रह्मी ब्रह्मज्ञो ब्राह्मणप्रियः ॥१३-१३५-८४॥
He is devoted to Brahman, performer of acts pertaining to Brahman, Brahmā, Brahman itself, the promoter of Brahman, the knower of Brahman, a Brāhmaṇa, united with Brahman, the knower of Brahman, and beloved of Brāhmaṇas. (13-135-84)
महाक्रमो महाकर्मा महातेजा महोरगः। महाक्रतुर्महायज्वा महायज्ञो महाहविः ॥१३-१३५-८५॥
He is the one of great steps, the performer of great deeds, radiant with immense splendor, the great serpent; the powerful sacrificer, the very sacrifice itself, and the prime oblation. (13-135-85)
स्तव्यः स्तवप्रियः स्तोत्रं स्तुतिः स्तोता रणप्रियः। पूर्णः पूरयिता पुण्यः पुण्यकीर्तिरनामयः ॥१३-१३५-८६॥
He is the one who is to be praised, who delights in praise, the hymn and the act of praise, the praiser, fond of battle; He is complete, the fulfiller, virtuous, renowned for virtue, and free from all affliction. (13-135-86)
मनोजवस्तीर्थकरो वसुरेता वसुप्रदः। वसुप्रदो वासुदेवो वसुर्वसुमना हविः ॥१३-१३५-८७॥
He is swift as the mind, the maker of paths (tīrthakara), whose seed is wealth, and bestower of wealth; the giver of wealth, Vāsudeva, wealth itself, one with a pure mind, and the (sacrificial) offering. (13-135-87)
सद्गतिः सत्कृतिः सत्ता सद्भूतिः सत्परायणः। शूरसेनो यदुश्रेष्ठः सन्निवासः सुयामुनः ॥१३-१३५-८८॥
Śūrasena, the best among the Yadus, is of good path, noble conduct, existence, noble being, devoted to good, possessing an excellent abode, and beautiful on the Yamunā. (13-135-88)
भूतावासो वासुदेवो सर्वासुनिलयोऽनलः। दर्पहा दर्पदो दृप्तो दुर्धरोऽथापराजितः ॥१३-१३५-८९॥
He is the abode of beings, Vāsudeva, the support of all lives, fire, destroyer of arrogance, giver of pride, proud, hard to restrain, and the unconquered one. (13-135-89)
विश्वमूर्तिर्महामूर्तिर्दीप्तमूर्तिरमूर्तिमान्। अनेकमूर्तिरव्यक्तः शतमूर्तिः शताननः ॥१३-१३५-९०॥
He is the one with the form of the universe, the great form, the radiant form, the formless, the one of many forms, the unmanifested, the one with a hundred forms, and a hundred faces. (13-135-90)
एको नैकः सवः कः किं यत्तत्पदमनुत्तमम्। लोकबन्धुर्लोकनाथो माधवो भक्तवत्सलः ॥१३-१३५-९१॥
He is one, many, all, who, what, that unsurpassed state; friend of the world, lord of the world, Mādhava, and loving toward devotees. (13-135-91)
सुवर्णवर्णो हेमाङ्गो वराङ्गश्चन्दनाङ्गदी। वीरहा विषमः शून्यो घृताशीरचलश्चलः ॥१३-१३५-९२॥
He is golden-colored, with limbs of gold, possessing excellent limbs, adorned with sandalwood armlets; destroyer of heroes, uneven, empty, one who desires ghee, both immovable and movable. (13-135-92)
अमानी मानदो मान्यो लोकस्वामी त्रिलोकधृक्। सुमेधा मेधजो धन्यः सत्यमेधा धराधरः ॥१३-१३५-९३॥
He is without pride, the giver of honor, worthy of honor, the lord of the worlds, the sustainer of the three worlds, of excellent intellect, born from intelligence, blessed, whose wisdom is truthful, and supporter of the earth. (13-135-93)
तेजो वृषो द्युतिधरः सर्वशस्त्रभृतां वरः। प्रग्रहो निग्रहोऽव्यग्रो नैकशृङ्गो गदाग्रजः ॥१३-१३५-९४॥
He is the bull of splendor, the bearer of radiance, the foremost among all weapon-bearers; restrainer, controller, undisturbed, many-horned, the elder brother of Gadā. (13-135-94)
चतुर्मूर्तिश्चतुर्बाहुश्चतुर्व्यूहश्चतुर्गतिः। चतुरात्मा चतुर्भावश्चतुर्वेदविदेकपात् ॥१३-१३५-९५॥
He has four forms, four arms, four aspects, and four courses; has four essences, four states, is the knower of the four Vedas, and is one-footed. (13-135-95)
समावर्तो निवृत्तात्मा दुर्जयो दुरतिक्रमः। दुर्लभो दुर्गमो दुर्गो दुरावासो दुरारिहा ॥१३-१३५-९६॥
He who is all-encompassing, whose self is withdrawn, unconquerable, insurmountable; rarely attained, inaccessible, unassailable, difficult to approach, and the destroyer of formidable foes. (13-135-96)
शुभाङ्गो लोकसारङ्गः सुतन्तुस्तन्तुवर्धनः। इन्द्रकर्मा महाकर्मा कृतकर्मा कृतागमः ॥१३-१३५-९७॥
He is auspicious-bodied, the essence of all worlds, well-threaded, the one who expands the thread, who performs deeds like Indra, does great actions, has accomplished all duties, and knows the established scriptures. (13-135-97)
उद्भवः सुन्दरः सुन्दो रत्ननाभः सुलोचनः। अर्को वाजसनः शृङ्गी जयन्तः सर्वविज्जयी ॥१३-१३५-९८॥
One who is born from origin, the beautiful, the handsome, the one whose navel is like a jewel, the one with beautiful eyes, the radiant one, the giver of strength, the horned one, the victorious, the conqueror of all. (13-135-98)
सुवर्णबिन्दुरक्षोभ्यः सर्ववागीश्वरेश्वरः। महाह्रदो महागर्तो महाभूतो महानिधिः ॥१३-१३५-९९॥
He is the gold-drop, the unshakable one, the lord of all gods of speech, the great lake, the great chasm, the great being, and the great treasure. (13-135-99)
कुमुदः कुंदरः कुन्दः पर्जन्यः पवनोऽनिलः। अमृतांशोऽमृतवपुः सर्वज्ञः सर्वतोमुखः ॥१३-१३५-१००॥
He is Kumuda, Kundara, Kunda, Parjanya, Pavana, Anila, Amritamsha, Amritavapu, Sarvajna, Sarvatomukha. (13-135-100)
सुलभः सुव्रतः सिद्धः शत्रुजिच्छत्रुतापनः। न्यग्रोधोदुम्बरोऽश्वत्थश्चाणूरान्ध्रनिषूदनः ॥१३-१३५-१०१॥
He is easily accessible, of good vows, accomplished, conqueror of enemies and afflicter of foes, who is (like) the banyan, fig, and sacred fig trees, and the destroyer of Cāṇūra and Āndhra. (13-135-101)
सहस्रार्चिः सप्तजिह्वः सप्तैधाः सप्तवाहनः। अमूर्तिरनघोऽचिन्त्यो भयकृद्भयनाशनः ॥१३-१३५-१०२॥
He has a thousand flames, seven tongues, seven forms of fire, and seven vehicles. He is formless, sinless, inconceivable, the producer of fear, and the destroyer of fear. (13-135-102)
अणुर्बृहत्कृशः स्थूलो गुणभृन्निर्गुणो महान्। अधृतः स्वधृतः स्वास्यः प्राग्वंशो वंशवर्धनः ॥१३-१३५-१०३॥
He is minute, great, slender, massive, the supporter of qualities, without qualities, great, unsustained, self-sustained, self-mouthed, of ancient lineage, and the increaser of the lineage. (13-135-103)
भारभृत्कथितो योगी योगीशः सर्वकामदः। आश्रमः श्रमणः क्षामः सुपर्णो वायुवाहनः ॥१३-१३५-१०४॥
The one known as Bhārabhṛt, the ascetic, lord of yogis, fulfiller of all desires; as hermitage, one who strives, the emaciated, Suparṇa (Garuḍa), the wind-borne one. (13-135-104)
धनुर्धरो धनुर्वेदो दण्डो दमयिता दमः। अपराजितः सर्वसहो नियन्ता नियमो यमः ॥१३-१३५-१०५॥
Bearer of the bow, knower of archery, punisher, restrainer, self-control; unconquered, enduring all, controller, restrainer, Yama (the lord of death). (13-135-105)
सत्त्ववान्सात्त्विकः सत्यः सत्यधर्मपरायणः। अभिप्रायः प्रियार्होऽर्हः प्रियकृत्प्रीतिवर्धनः ॥१३-१३५-१०६॥
He possesses strength, is endowed with purity, is truthful, dedicated to the law of truth, purposeful, worthy of affection, deserving, does what is pleasing, and increases delight. (13-135-106)
विहायसगतिर्ज्योतिः सुरुचिर्हुतभुग्विभुः। रविर्विरोचनः सूर्यः सविता रविलोचनः ॥१३-१३५-१०७॥
He whose path is in the sky, who is light, splendidly radiant, the eater of oblations, the pervader, called Ravi, the shining one, the Sun, Savitṛ, and the one whose eye is the Sun. (13-135-107)
अनन्तो हुतभुग्भोक्ता सुखदो नैकदोऽग्रजः। अनिर्विण्णः सदामर्षी लोकाधिष्ठानमद्भुतम् ॥१३-१३५-१०८॥
He is endless, the consumer of offerings, the enjoyer, the giver of happiness, the giver of many gifts, the elder brother, never dejected, always patient, the support of the world, and wondrous. (13-135-108)
सनात्सनातनतमः कपिलः कपिरव्ययः। स्वस्तिदः स्वस्तिकृत्स्वस्ति स्वस्तिभुक्स्वस्तिदक्षिणः ॥१३-१३५-१०९॥
He is eternal, the most ancient, the tawny one, the imperishable monkey, the giver of welfare, the doer of auspicious deeds, the embodiment of auspiciousness, the enjoyer of welfare, and the one whose right side is auspicious. (13-135-109)
अरौद्रः कुण्डली चक्री विक्रम्यूर्जितशासनः। शब्दातिगः शब्दसहः शिशिरः शर्वरीकरः ॥१३-१३५-११०॥
He is gentle, possessing coils, wielder of the discus, courageous, of potent command, one who transcends and endures sound, cool, and the bringer of night. (13-135-110)
अक्रूरः पेशलो दक्षो दक्षिणः क्षमिणां वरः। विद्वत्तमो वीतभयः पुण्यश्रवणकीर्तनः ॥१३-१३५-१११॥
Akrura is gentle, skillful, kind, the foremost of the forgiving, most learned, free from fear, and his hearing and praise are virtuous. (13-135-111)
उत्तारणो दुष्कृतिहा पुण्यो दुःस्वप्ननाशनः। वीरहा रक्षणः सन्तो जीवनः पर्यवस्थितः ॥१३-१३५-११२॥
He is the deliverer, the destroyer of evil actions, meritorious, destroyer of bad dreams, destroyer of heroes, protector, life of the good, and firmly established. (13-135-112)
अनन्तरूपोऽनन्तश्रीर्जितमन्युर्भयापहः। चतुरस्रो गभीरात्मा विदिशो व्यादिशो दिशः ॥१३-१३५-११३॥
He is of infinite forms and infinite majesty, his anger conquered, the remover of fear; of four sides, with a profound nature, he encompasses the intermediate, further, and principal directions. (13-135-113)
अनादिर्भूर्भुवो लक्ष्मीः सुवीरो रुचिराङ्गदः। जननो जनजन्मादिर्भीमो भीमपराक्रमः ॥१३-१३५-११४॥
He is without beginning, the earth and the mid-region, prosperity, very heroic, adorned with beautiful armlets, the progenitor and origin of beings' birth, formidable, and of tremendous prowess. (13-135-114)
आधारनिलयो धाता पुष्पहासः प्रजागरः। ऊर्ध्वगः सत्पथाचारः प्राणदः प्रणवः पणः ॥१३-१३५-११५॥
He whose abode is the foundation, the sustainer, who has a countenance blooming like a flower, ever awake, who ascends upward, who follows the righteous path, the giver of life, the sacred syllable "Om", and the reward. (13-135-115)
प्रमाणं प्राणनिलयः प्राणकृत्प्राणजीवनः। तत्त्वं तत्त्वविदेकात्मा जन्ममृत्युजरातिगः ॥१३-१३५-११६॥
He is proof, the abode of prāṇa, the creator of prāṇa, the life of prāṇa, reality, the knower of essence, the one self, and the one who has transcended birth, death, and old age. (13-135-116)
भूर्भुवः स्वस्तरुस्तारः सविता प्रपितामहः। यज्ञो यज्ञपतिर्यज्वा यज्ञाङ्गो यज्ञवाहनः ॥१३-१३५-११७॥
He is the earth, atmosphere, heaven, the tree, the savior, the Sun, the great-grandfather, the sacrifice, the lord of sacrifice, the sacrificer, the one whose very limbs are sacrifice, and the carrier of sacrifice. (13-135-117)
यज्ञभृद्यज्ञकृद्यज्ञी यज्ञभुग्यज्ञसाधनः। यज्ञान्तकृद्यज्ञगुह्यमन्नमन्नाद एव च ॥१३-१३५-११८॥
He is the bearer of sacrifice, the doer of sacrifice, the performer of sacrifice, the enjoyer of sacrifice, the means of sacrifice; the one who completes sacrifice, the secret of sacrifice, food itself, and indeed the eater of food as well. (13-135-118)
आत्मयोनिः स्वयञ्जातो वैखानः सामगायनः। देवकीनन्दनः स्रष्टा क्षितीशः पापनाशनः ॥१३-१३५-११९॥
He whose source is himself, who is self-born, the descendant of Vikhanas, the singer of Sāman-hymns, the son of Devakī, the creator, the lord of the earth, and the destroyer of sins. (13-135-119)
शङ्खभृन्नन्दकी चक्री शार्ङ्गधन्वा गदाधरः। रथाङ्गपाणिरक्षोभ्यः सर्वप्रहरणायुधः ॥१३-१३५-१२०॥
He is the holder of the conch, wielder of the sword Nandaka, bearer of the discus, holder of the bow Śārṅga, holder of the mace, one with the wheel in hand, the unshakable, armed with all weapons. (13-135-120)
इतीदं कीर्तनीयस्य केशवस्य महात्मनः। नाम्नां सहस्रं दिव्यानामशेषेण प्रकीर्तितम् ॥१३-१३५-१२१॥
Thus, the complete thousand divine names of the great-souled Keśava, which are to be praised, have been fully proclaimed. (13-135-121)
य इदं शृणुयान्नित्यं यश्चापि परिकीर्तयेत्। नाशुभं प्राप्नुयात्किञ्चित्सोऽमुत्रेह च मानवः ॥१३-१३५-१२२॥
Whoever always listens to this and also proclaims it, that man shall obtain nothing inauspicious, either here or in the next world. (13-135-122)
वेदान्तगो ब्राह्मणः स्यात्क्षत्रियो विजयी भवेत्। वैश्यो धनसमृद्धः स्याच्छूद्रः सुखमवाप्नुयात् ॥१३-१३५-१२३॥
A Brāhmaṇa should be one who knows the Vedānta, a Kṣatriya should be victorious, a Vaiśya should possess abundant wealth, and a Śūdra should attain happiness. (13-135-123)
धर्मार्थी प्राप्नुयाद्धर्ममर्थार्थी चार्थमाप्नुयात्। कामानवाप्नुयात्कामी प्रजार्थी चाप्नुयात्प्रजाः ॥१३-१३५-१२४॥
A seeker of dharma may attain dharma; a seeker of wealth may attain wealth; one who desires may attain desires; and one seeking offspring may attain children. (13-135-124)
भक्तिमान्यः सदोत्थाय शुचिस्तद्गतमानसः। सहस्रं वासुदेवस्य नाम्नामेतत्प्रकीर्तयेत् ॥१३-१३५-१२५॥
He who is devoted, who always arises, who is pure, and whose mind is fixed upon Him, should recite these thousand names of Vāsudeva. (13-135-125)
यशः प्राप्नोति विपुलं ज्ञातिप्राधान्यमेव च। अचलां श्रियमाप्नोति श्रेयश्चाप्नोत्यनुत्तमम् ॥१३-१३५-१२६॥
He obtains abundant fame and eminence among his relatives; he attains immovable prosperity and gains unsurpassed felicity. (13-135-126)
न भयं क्वचिदाप्नोति वीर्यं तेजश्च विन्दति। भवत्यरोगो द्युतिमान्बलरूपगुणान्वितः ॥१३-१३५-१२७॥
He does not experience fear anywhere, gains energy and brilliance, becomes healthy, radiant, and endowed with strength, good form, and virtues. (13-135-127)
रोगार्तो मुच्यते रोगाद्बद्धो मुच्येत बन्धनात्। भयान्मुच्येत भीतश्च मुच्येतापन्न आपदः ॥१३-१३५-१२८॥
One afflicted by disease is released from disease; the bound one may be released from bondage; from fear, the frightened is released, and one who falls into calamity may also be freed. (13-135-128)
दुर्गाण्यतितरत्याशु पुरुषः पुरुषोत्तमम्। स्तुवन्नामसहस्रेण नित्यं भक्तिसमन्वितः ॥१३-१३५-१२९॥
A person who always, with devotion, praises the Supreme Purusha with the thousand (holy) names crosses over all difficulties swiftly. (13-135-129)
वासुदेवाश्रयो मर्त्यो वासुदेवपरायणः। सर्वपापविशुद्धात्मा याति ब्रह्म सनातनम् ॥१३-१३५-१३०॥
A mortal who takes refuge in Vāsudeva and makes Him his highest goal, whose self is purified from all sins, attains the eternal Brahman. (13-135-130)
न वासुदेवभक्तानामशुभं विद्यते क्वचित्। जन्ममृत्युजराव्याधिभयं वाप्युपजायते ॥१३-१३५-१३१॥
For the devotees of Vāsudeva, no inauspiciousness exists anywhere, nor does the fear of birth, death, old age, or disease ever arise. (13-135-131)
इमं स्तवमधीयानः श्रद्धाभक्तिसमन्वितः। युज्येतात्मसुखक्षान्तिश्रीधृतिस्मृतिकीर्तिभिः ॥१३-१३५-१३२॥
One who recites this hymn with faith and devotion becomes endowed with happiness, forbearance, prosperity, steadfastness, memory, and fame. (13-135-132)
न क्रोधो न च मात्सर्यं न लोभो नाशुभा मतिः। भवन्ति कृतपुण्यानां भक्तानां पुरुषोत्तमे ॥१३-१३५-१३३॥
Among devotees of the Supreme Person who have accumulated merit, there is no anger, no envy, no greed, nor unwholesome thought. (13-135-133)
द्यौः सचन्द्रार्कनक्षत्रा खं दिशो भूर्महोदधिः। वासुदेवस्य वीर्येण विधृतानि महात्मनः ॥१३-१३५-१३४॥
The sky with the moon, sun, and stars, space, the directions, earth, and the great ocean are all upheld by the power of Vāsudeva, the great soul. (13-135-134)
ससुरासुरगन्धर्वं सयक्षोरगराक्षसम्। जगद्वशे वर्ततेदं कृष्णस्य सचराचरम् ॥१३-१३५-१३५॥
This entire universe—containing gods, asuras, gandharvas, yakṣas, uragas, and rākṣasas, with all moving and unmoving beings—exists under the control of Kṛṣṇa. (13-135-135)
इन्द्रियाणि मनो बुद्धिः सत्त्वं तेजो बलं धृतिः। वासुदेवात्मकान्याहुः क्षेत्रं क्षेत्रज्ञ एव च ॥१३-१३५-१३६॥
They call the senses, mind, intellect, beingness, splendor, strength, and steadfastness as having Vāsudeva as their essence, and indeed both the field and the knower of the field. (13-135-136)
सर्वागमानामाचारः प्रथमं परिकल्प्यते। आचारप्रभवो धर्मो धर्मस्य प्रभुरच्युतः ॥१३-१३५-१३७॥
Conduct is regarded as the foremost of all Scriptures. Duty arises from conduct; and Acyuta is the lord of duty. (13-135-137)
ऋषयः पितरो देवा महाभूतानि धातवः। जङ्गमाजङ्गमं चेदं जगन्नारायणोद्भवम् ॥१३-१३५-१३८॥
Sages, ancestors, gods, the great elements, the primary substances, moving and non-moving beings, and this world—all have originated from Nārāyaṇa. (13-135-138)
योगो ज्ञानं तथा साङ्ख्यं विद्याः शिल्पानि कर्म च। वेदाः शास्त्राणि विज्ञानमेतत्सर्वं जनार्दनात् ॥१३-१३५-१३९॥
Union, knowledge, Sāṅkhya philosophy, sciences, arts, action, the Vedas, treatises, and wisdom—all of this comes from Janārdana. (13-135-139)
एको विष्णुर्महद्भूतं पृथग्भूतान्यनेकशः। त्रीँल्लोकान्व्याप्य भूतात्मा भुङ्क्ते विश्वभुगव्ययः ॥१३-१३५-१४०॥
The one Viṣṇu, the great being, exists as the many separate beings; pervading the three worlds, he, the soul of all beings, enjoys them as the imperishable, universal enjoyer. (13-135-140)
इमं स्तवं भगवतो विष्णोर्व्यासेन कीर्तितम्। पठेद्य इच्छेत्पुरुषः श्रेयः प्राप्तुं सुखानि च ॥१३-१३५-१४१॥
Let that man who desires to attain supreme good and happiness recite this hymn of the Blessed Lord Viṣṇu, which was proclaimed by Vyāsa. (13-135-141)
विश्वेश्वरमजं देवं जगतः प्रभवाप्ययम्। भजन्ति ये पुष्कराक्षं न ते यान्ति पराभवम् ॥१३-१३५-१४२॥
Those who worship Puṣkarākṣa, the Lord of the universe, the unborn god who is the origin and dissolution of the world, they never meet with defeat. (13-135-142)
