tato'bhiyacodayat kṛṣṇo yujyatām iti dārukam। muhūrtād iva cācaṣṭa yuktam ity eva dārukaḥ ॥14-51-1॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; अभ्यचोदयत् (abhyacodayat) - urged; कृष्णः (kṛṣṇaḥ) - Kṛṣṇa; युज्यताम् (yujyatām) - let (the chariot) be yoked; इति (iti) - thus; दारुकम् (dārukam) - to Dāruka; मुहूर्तात् (muhūrtāt) - within a moment; इव (iva) - as if; च (ca) - and; आचष्ट (ācaṣṭa) - declared; युक्तम् (yuktam) - yoked (ready); इति एव (iti eva) - thus indeed; दारुकः (dārukaḥ) - Dāruka;]
(Then Kṛṣṇa urged to Dāruka, "Let (the chariot) be yoked"; within a moment, as if, and declared, "It is yoked indeed," Dāruka.)
Then Kṛṣṇa said to Dāruka, "Let the chariot be yoked;" and within a moment, Dāruka declared, as if instantly, "It is yoked." (14-51-1)
तथैव चानुयात्राणि चोदयामास पाण्डवः। सज्जयध्वं प्रयास्यामो नगरं गजसाह्वयम् ॥१४-५१-२॥
tathaiva cānuyātrāṇi codayāmāsa pāṇḍavaḥ। sajjayadhvaṃ prayāsyāmo nagaraṃ gajasāhvayam॥14-51-2॥
[तथैव (tathaiva) - just so; in the same manner; च (ca) - and; अनुयात्राणि (anuyātrāṇi) - follow-up troops; accompanying retinues; चोदयामास (codayāmāsa) - he caused (them) to set out; sent; पाण्डवः (pāṇḍavaḥ) - the son of Pāṇḍu; सज्जयध्वम् (sajjayadhvam) - be prepared; make yourselves ready; प्रयास्यामः (prayāsyāmaḥ) - we shall proceed (to go); नगरम् (nagaram) - the city; गजसाह्वयम् (gajasāhvayam) - named Gajasāhvaya (Hastināpura);]
(Just so and the follow-up troops he caused to set out, the son of Pāṇḍu. Be prepared, we shall proceed to the city named Gajasāhvaya.)
In the same manner, the son of Pāṇḍu dispatched the following troops. "Prepare yourselves, we shall go to the city called Gajasāhvaya (Hastināpura)." (14-51-2)
इत्युक्ताः सैनिकास्ते तु सज्जीभूता विशां पते। आचख्युः सज्जमित्येव पार्थायामिततेजसे ॥१४-५१-३॥
ityuktāḥ sainikās te tu sajjībhūtā viśāṃ pate. ācakhyuḥ sajjam ity eva pārthāyāmitatejase ॥14-51-3॥
[इति (iti) - thus; उक्ताः (uktāḥ) - addressed; सैनिकाः (sainikāḥ) - soldiers; ते (te) - they; तु (tu) - but; सज्जीभूताः (sajjībhūtāḥ) - become ready; विशां पते (viśāṃ pate) - O lord of men; आचख्युः (ācakhyuḥ) - reported; सज्जम् (sajjam) - ready; इति (iti) - thus; एव (eva) - indeed; पार्थाय (pārthāya) - to Pārtha (Arjuna); अमिततेजसे (amitatejase) - of immeasurable splendor;]
(Thus addressed, the soldiers, they but having become ready, O lord of men, reported 'ready' thus indeed to Pārtha of immeasurable splendor.)
Thus addressed, the soldiers, having readied themselves, O lord of men, reported 'ready' to Pārtha of immeasurable splendor. (14-51-3)
ततस्तौ रथमास्थाय प्रयातौ कृष्णपाण्डवौ। विकुर्वाणौ कथाश्चित्राः प्रीयमाणौ विशां पते ॥१४-५१-४॥
tatastau rathamāsthāya prayātau kṛṣṇapāṇḍavau। vikurvāṇau kathāś citrāḥ prīyamāṇau viśāṃ pate ॥14-51-4॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; तौ (tau) - those two; रथम् (ratham) - chariot; आस्थाय (āsthāya) - having ascended; प्रयातौ (prayātau) - departed; कृष्णपाण्डवौ (kṛṣṇapāṇḍavau) - Kṛṣṇa and Pāṇḍava; विकुर्वाणौ (vikurvāṇau) - engaged in; कथाः चित्राः (kathāḥ citrāḥ) - varied stories; प्रियमाणौ (prīyamāṇau) - delighting; विशां पते (viśāṃ pate) - O lord of men;]
(Then those two, having ascended the chariot, departed — Kṛṣṇa and Pāṇḍava — engaged in varied stories, delighting, O lord of men.)
Then those two, Kṛṣṇa and Pāṇḍava, having ascended the chariot, departed, engaging in various conversations with delight, O lord of men. (14-51-4)
रथस्थं तु महातेजा वासुदेवं धनञ्जयः। पुनरेवाब्रवीद्वाक्यमिदं भरतसत्तम ॥१४-५१-५॥
rathasthaṃ tu mahātejā vāsudevaṃ dhanañjayaḥ। punarevābravīdvākyamidaṃ bharatasattama ॥14-51-5॥
[रथस्थं (rathastham) - situated in the chariot; तु (tu) - but; महातेजा (mahātejā) - one of great brilliance; वासुदेवं (vāsudevam) - Vāsudeva; धनञ्जयः (dhanañjayaḥ) - Dhanañjaya (Arjuna); पुनः (punaḥ) - again; एव (eva) - indeed; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - said; वाक्यम् (vākyam) - word; इदं (idaṃ) - this; भरतसत्तम (bharatasattama) - O best of the Bharatas (Dhṛtarāṣṭra, addressed);]
(Situated in the chariot but, the great-brilliant Dhanañjaya (Arjuna) said indeed again this word to Vāsudeva, O best of the Bharatas.)
But Dhanañjaya, the one of great brilliance, situated in the chariot, once again addressed these words to Vāsudeva, O best of the Bharatas. (14-51-5)
त्वत्प्रसादाज्जयः प्राप्तो राज्ञा वृष्णिकुलोद्वह। निहताः शत्रवश्चापि प्राप्तं राज्यमकण्टकम् ॥१४-५१-६॥
tvatprasādājjayaḥ prāpto rājñā vṛṣṇikulodvaha. nihatāḥ śatravaścāpi prāptaṃ rājyamakaṇṭakam ॥14-51-6॥
[त्वत्प्रसादात् (tvatprasādāt) - by your grace; जयः (jayaḥ) - victory; प्राप्तः (prāptaḥ) - has been attained; राज्ञा (rājñā) - by the king; वृष्णिकुलोद्वह (vṛṣṇikulodvaha) - O uplifter of the Vrishni clan; निहताः (nihatāḥ) - have been slain; शत्रवः (śatravaḥ) - enemies; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; प्राप्तम् (prāptam) - has been obtained; राज्यम् (rājyam) - the kingdom; अकण्टकम् (akaṇṭakam) - thornless;]
(By your grace, victory has been attained by the king, O uplifter of the Vrishni clan; the enemies have also been slain, the kingdom, without thorns, has been obtained.)
O uplifter of the Vrishni clan, by your grace the king has obtained victory; the enemies have also been destroyed, and an untroubled kingdom has been secured. (14-51-6)
नाथवन्तश्च भवता पाण्डवा मधुसूदन। भवन्तं प्लवमासाद्य तीर्णाः स्म कुरुसागरम् ॥१४-५१-७॥
nāthavantaś ca bhavatā pāṇḍavā madhusūdana। bhavantaṃ plavam āsādya tīrṇāḥ sma kuru-sāgaram॥14-51-7॥
[नाथवन्तः (nāthavantaḥ) - having a protector; च (ca) - and; भवता (bhavatā) - by you; पाण्डवाः (pāṇḍavāḥ) - the Pāṇḍavas; मधुसूदन (madhusūdana) - O Madhusūdana; भवन्तम् (bhavantam) - you; प्लवम् (plavam) - raft; आसाद्य (āsādya) - having attained; तीर्णाः (tīrṇāḥ) - crossed; स्म (sma) - indeed; कुरुसागरम् (kuru-sāgaram) - the ocean of Kurus;]
(Having a protector (nāthavantaḥ) and by you (bhavatā), the Pāṇḍavas (pāṇḍavāḥ), O Madhusūdana (madhusūdana), having attained (āsādya) you (bhavantam) as a raft (plavam), indeed (sma) crossed (tīrṇāḥ) the ocean of Kurus (kuru-sāgaram).)
O Madhusūdana, because you were their protector, the Pāṇḍavas, having found you as a raft, truly crossed the ocean of the Kurus. (14-51-7)
विश्वकर्मन्नमस्तेऽस्तु विश्वात्मन्विश्वसम्भव। यथाहं त्वा विजानामि यथा चाहं भवन्मनाः ॥१४-५१-८॥
viśvakarman namas te-'stu viśvātman viśvasambhava। yathā ahaṃ tvā vijānāmi yathā ca ahaṃ bhavan-manāḥ ॥14-51-8॥
[विश्वकर्मन् (viśvakarman) - universal architect; creator of all; नमः (namaḥ) - reverence; salutation; ते (te) - to you; अस्तु (astu) - may it be; let there be; विश्वात्मन् (viśvātman) - soul of the universe; universal self; विश्वसम्भव (viśvasambhava) - origin of the universe; one who arises as the universe; यथा (yathā) - just as; as; अहं (ahaṃ) - I; त्वा (tvā) - you (accusative); विजानामि (vijānāmi) - I know; I understand; यथा (yathā) - just as; as; च (ca) - and; also; अहं (ahaṃ) - I; भवन्-मनाः (bhavan-manāḥ) - having my mind on you; being devoted to you;]
(Universal architect, reverence to you may there be, soul of the universe, origin of the universe. As I know you, as also I am with mind on you.)
O Universal Architect, I offer my reverence to you—O soul and origin of the universe. Just as I know you, so my mind remains devoted to you. (14-51-8)
त्वत्तेजःसम्भवो नित्यं हुताशो मधुसूदन। रतिः क्रीडामयी तुभ्यं माया ते रोदसी विभो ॥१४-५१-९॥
tvattējaḥ-sambhavo nityaṃ hutāśo madhusūdana। ratiḥ krīḍāmayī tubhyaṃ māyā te rodasī vibho ॥14-51-9॥
[त्वत्तेजःसम्भवः (tvattējaḥ-sambhavaḥ) - born from your radiance; नित्यम् (nityam) - always; हुताशः (hutāśaḥ) - the fire; (Agni) मधुसूदन (madhusūdana) - O Madhusūdana; रतिः (ratiḥ) - pleasure; क्रीडामयी (krīḍāmayī) - consisting of play; तुभ्यं (tubhyaṃ) - for you; माया (māyā) - illusion; ते (te) - your; रोदसी (rodasī) - heaven and earth; विभो (vibho) - O mighty one;]
(O Madhusūdana, Agni, always born from your radiance; pleasure consisting of play is for you; your illusion is the heaven and earth, O mighty one.)
O Madhusūdana, Agni is always born from your brilliance; the delight composed of play is for you; heaven and earth are your illusion, O mighty one. (14-51-9)
त्वयि सर्वमिदं विश्वं यदिदं स्थाणुजङ्गमम्। त्वं हि सर्वं विकुरुषे भूतग्रामं सनातनम् ॥१४-५१-१०॥
tvayi sarvam idaṃ viśvaṃ yad idaṃ sthāṇujaṅgamam। tvaṃ hi sarvaṃ vikuruṣe bhūtagrāmaṃ sanātanam॥14-51-10॥
[त्वयि (tvayi) - in you; सर्वम् (sarvam) - all; इदं (idaṃ) - this; विश्वम् (viśvam) - universe; यत् (yat) - which; इदं (idaṃ) - this; स्थाणुजङ्गमम् (sthāṇujaṅgamam) - stationary (immovable) and moving; त्वम् (tvam) - you; हि (hi) - indeed; सर्वम् (sarvam) - all; विकुरुषे (vikuruṣe) - you transform; भूतग्रामम् (bhūtagrāmam) - the assemblage of beings; सनातनम् (sanātanam) - eternal;]
(In you, all this universe, which is this stationary and moving, (exists); you indeed transform all the assemblage of beings eternal.)
All this universe, both stationary and moving, is in you; you indeed transform the entire eternal multitude of beings. (14-51-10)
पृथिवीं चान्तरिक्षं च तथा स्थावरजङ्गमम्। हसितं तेऽमला ज्योत्स्ना ऋतवश्चेन्द्रियान्वयाः ॥१४-५१-११॥
pṛthivīṃ cāntarikṣaṃ ca tathā sthāvarajaṅgamam। hasitaṃ te'malā jyotsnā ṛtavaścendriyānvayāḥ ॥14-51-11॥
[पृथिवीं (pṛthivīṃ) - earth; च (ca) - and; अन्तरिक्षं (antarikṣam) - sky; च (ca) - and; तथा (tathā) - also; स्थावरजङ्गमम् (sthāvarajaṅgamam) - the immovable and movable (beings); हसितं (hasitam) - smile; ते (te) - your; अमला (amalā) - pure; ज्योत्स्ना (jyotsnā) - moonlight; ऋतवः (ṛtavaḥ) - seasons; च (ca) - and; इन्द्रियान्वयाः (indriyānvayāḥ) - connected with the senses;]
(earth and sky and also the immovable and movable (beings), the smile, your pure moonlight, the seasons and those connected with the senses.)
Earth, sky, and likewise all immovable and movable beings, your smile, your pure moonlight, the seasons, and those associated with the senses. (14-51-11)
प्राणो वायुः सततगः क्रोधो मृत्युः सनातनः। प्रसादे चापि पद्मा श्रीर्नित्यं त्वयि महामते ॥१४-५१-१२॥
prāṇo vāyuḥ satatagaḥ krodho mṛtyuḥ sanātanaḥ। prasāde cāpi padmā śrīr nityaṁ tvayi mahāmate ॥14-51-12॥
[प्राणः (prāṇaḥ) - vital breath; वायुः (vāyuḥ) - wind; सततगः (satatagaḥ) - ever-present; क्रोधः (krodhaḥ) - anger; मृत्युः (mṛtyuḥ) - death; सनातनः (sanātanaḥ) - eternal; प्रसादे (prasāde) - in favor; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; पद्मा (padmā) - Padmā (Lakṣmī); श्रीः (śrīḥ) - fortune; नित्यम् (nityam) - always; त्वयि (tvayi) - in you; महामते (mahāmate) - O great-minded one;]
(Vital breath (is) wind, ever-present; anger (is) death, eternal. In favor, also Padmā (Lakṣmī), fortune, always (is) in you, O great-minded one.)
The vital breath is wind, which is ever-present; anger is death, which is eternal. In favor, Lakṣmī and fortune are always in you, O great-minded one. (14-51-12)
रतिस्तुष्टिर्धृतिः क्षान्तिस्त्वयि चेदं चराचरम्। त्वमेवेह युगान्तेषु निधनं प्रोच्यसेऽनघ ॥१४-५१-१३॥
ratistuṣṭirdhṛtiḥ kṣāntistvayi cedaṃ carācaram। tvameveha yugānteṣu nidhanaṃ procyase'nagha ॥14-51-13॥
[रति (rati) - delight; तुष्टिः (tuṣṭiḥ) - contentment; धृतिः (dhṛtiḥ) - fortitude; क्षान्तिः (kṣāntiḥ) - forbearance; त्वयि (tvayi) - in You; च (ca) - and; इदं (idaṃ) - this; चराचरम् (carācaram) - the moving and the unmoving; त्वम् (tvam) - You; एव (eva) - indeed; इह (iha) - here; युगान्तेषु (yugānteṣu) - at the ends of the ages; निधनम् (nidhanaṃ) - the destruction; प्रोच्यसे (procyase) - You are proclaimed; अनघ (anagha) - O faultless one;]
(Delight, contentment, fortitude, and forbearance are in You, and this (entire) moving and unmoving (universe). You indeed here at the ends of the ages (are) the destruction, You are proclaimed, O faultless one.)
Delight, contentment, fortitude, and forbearance exist in You, and this whole universe of the moving and unmoving rests in You. It is indeed You, O faultless one, who are declared to be the destruction at the ends of the ages. (14-51-13)
सुदीर्घेणापि कालेन न ते शक्या गुणा मया। आत्मा च परमो वक्तुं नमस्ते नलिनेक्षण ॥१४-५१-१४॥
sudīrghēṇāpi kālēna na tē śakyā guṇā mayā। ātmā ca paramō vaktuṁ namastē naliṇēkṣaṇa ॥14-51-14॥
[सुदीर्घेण (sudīrghena) - by long (time); अपि (api) - even; कालेन (kālena) - by time; न (na) - not; ते (te) - your; शक्या (śakyā) - possible (to be); गुणा (guṇā) - qualities; मया (mayā) - by me; आत्मा (ātmā) - the self; च (ca) - and; परमो (paramaḥ) - the supreme; वक्तुं (vaktum) - to speak; नमस्ते (namas te) - salutation to you; नलिनेक्षण (nalinēkṣaṇa) - O lotus-eyed;]
(By long even time, not your qualities by me are possible (to be spoken); the self and the supreme to speak; salutation to you, O lotus-eyed.)
Even in a long time, your qualities cannot be fully described by me; the supreme self also cannot be spoken of. Salutations to you, O lotus-eyed one. (14-51-14)
विदितो मेऽसि दुर्धर्ष नारदाद्देवलात्तथा। कृष्णद्वैपायनाच्चैव तथा कुरुपितामहात् ॥१४-५१-१५॥
vidito me'si durdharṣa nāradāddevalāttathā. kṛṣṇadvaipāyanāccaiva tathā kurupitāmahāt ॥14-51-15॥
[विदितः (विदितः) (viditaḥ) - known; मे (मे) (me) - to me; असि (असि) (asi) - you are; दुर्धर्ष (दुर्धर्ष) (durdharṣa) - O invincible; नारदात् (नारदात्) (nāradāt) - from Nārada; देवलात् (देवलात्) (devalāt) - from Devala; तथा (तथा) (tathā) - also; कृष्णद्वैपायनात् (कृष्णद्वैपायनात्) (kṛṣṇadvaipāyanāt) - from Kṛṣṇa Dvaipāyana; च (च) (ca) - and; एव (एव) (eva) - indeed; तथा (तथा) (tathā) - also; कुरुपितामहत् (कुरुपितामहात्) (kurupitāmahāt) - from the grandsire of the Kurus;]
(You are known to me, O invincible one, from Nārada, from Devala also, and from Kṛṣṇa Dvaipāyana indeed, also from the grandsire of the Kurus.)
O invincible one, I have learned about you from Nārada, as well as from Devala, from Kṛṣṇa Dvaipāyana, and also from the grandsire of the Kurus. (14-51-15)
त्वयि सर्वं समासक्तं त्वमेवैको जनेश्वरः। यच्चानुग्रहसंयुक्तमेतदुक्तं त्वयानघ ॥१४-५१-१६॥
tvayi sarvaṃ samāsaktaṃ tvam evaiko janeśvaraḥ। yac cānugrahasaṃyuktam etad uktaṃ tvayānagha ॥14-51-16॥
[त्वयि (tvayi) - in you;, सर्वं (sarvaṃ) - all;, समासक्तं (samāsaktaṃ) - attached;, त्वम् (tvam) - you;, एव (eva) - indeed;, एकः (ekaḥ) - one;, जनेश्वरः (janeśvaraḥ) - lord of beings;, यत् (yat) - which;, च (ca) - and;, अनुग्रहसंयुक्तम् (anugrahasaṃyuktam) - possessed with favor;, एतत् (etad) - this;, उक्तं (uktaṃ) - spoken;, त्वया (tvayā) - by you;, अनघ (anagha) - O sinless one;]
(In you all is attached; you indeed alone are the lord of beings. And that which is possessed with favor, this has been spoken by you, O sinless one (14-51-16).)
All is attached to you; you alone are the lord of beings. And whatever, endowed with favor, has been spoken by you, O sinless one (14-51-16).
एतत्सर्वमहं सम्यगाचरिष्ये जनार्दन। इदं चाद्भुतमत्यर्थं कृतमस्मत्प्रियेप्सया ॥१४-५१-१७॥
etatsarvamahaṃ samyagācariṣye janārdana। idaṃ cādbhutamatyarthaṃ kṛtamasmatpriyepsayā ॥14-51-17॥
[एतत् (etat) - this; सर्वम् (sarvam) - all; अहम् (aham) - I; सम्यक् (samyak) - properly; आचरिष्ये (ācariṣye) - shall perform; जनार्दन (janārdana) - O Janārdana; इदम् (idam) - this; च (ca) - and; अद्भुतम् (adbhutam) - wonderful; अत्यर्थम् (atyartham) - exceedingly; कृतम् (kṛtam) - done; अस्मत्-प्रिय-इप्सया (asmat-priya-ipsayā) - with the longing for (your) favor;]
(This all I shall properly perform, O Janārdana. And this exceedingly wonderful (act) is done with the longing for my beloved's favor. (14-51-17))
O Janārdana, I shall properly accomplish all this. And this exceedingly wonderful deed has been done out of longing to please my beloved. (14-51-17)
यत्पापो निहतः सङ्ख्ये कौरव्यो धृतराष्ट्रजः। त्वया दग्धं हि तत्सैन्यं मया विजितमाहवे ॥१४-५१-१८॥
yat pāpo nihataḥ saṅkhye kauravyo dhṛtarāṣṭrajaḥ। tvayā dagdhaṃ hi tat sainyaṃ mayā vijitam āhave ॥14-51-18॥
[यत् (yat) - which; पापः (pāpaḥ) - the wicked one; निहतः (nihataḥ) - has been slain; सङ्ख्ये (saṅkhye) - in battle; कौरव्यः (kauravyaḥ) - the Kaurava (descendant of Kuru); धृतराष्ट्रजः (dhṛtarāṣṭrajaḥ) - the son of Dhṛtarāṣṭra; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; दग्धम् (dagdham) - has been burned (destroyed); हि (hi) - indeed; तत् (tat) - that; सैन्यम् (sainyam) - army; मया (mayā) - by me; विजितम् (vijitam) - has been conquered; आहवे (āhave) - in battle;]
(Which wicked one, the Kaurava, son of Dhṛtarāṣṭra, has been slain in battle; by you, indeed, that army was destroyed, by me conquered in battle.)
The Kaurava, son of Dhṛtarāṣṭra, who was wicked, was slain in battle; that army was indeed destroyed by you and conquered by me in battle. (14-51-18)
भवता तत्कृतं कर्म येनावाप्तो जयो मया। दुर्योधनस्य सङ्ग्रामे तव बुद्धिपराक्रमैः ॥१४-५१-१९॥
bhavatā tat-kṛtaṃ karma yena avāptaḥ jayaḥ mayā। duryodhanasya saṅgrāme tava buddhi-parākramaiḥ ॥14-51-19॥
[भवता (bhavatā) - by you; तत् (tat) - that; कृतं (kṛtam) - done; कर्म (karma) - deed; येन (yena) - by which; अवाप्तः (avāptaḥ) - obtained; जयः (jayaḥ) - victory; मया (mayā) - by me; दुर्योधनस्य (duryodhanasya) - of Duryodhana; सङ्ग्रामे (saṅgrāme) - in the battle; तव (tava) - your; बुद्धिपराक्रमैः (buddhi-parākramaiḥ) - by intelligence and valor;]
(By you that deed was done by which victory was obtained by me in Duryodhana's battle by your intelligence and valor.)
By you, the deed was accomplished by which I obtained victory over Duryodhana in battle, through your intelligence and valor. (14-51-19)

अहं च प्रीयमाणेन त्वया देवकिनन्दन। यदुक्तस्तत्करिष्यामि न हि मेऽत्र विचारणा ॥१४-५१-२१॥
ahaṃ ca prīyamāṇena tvayā devakinandana। yaduktastatkariṣyāmi na hi me'tra vicāraṇā ॥14-51-21॥

राजानं च समासाद्य धर्मात्मानं युधिष्ठिरम्। चोदयिष्यामि धर्मज्ञ गमनार्थं तवानघ ॥१४-५१-२२॥

(Pleasing indeed to me is this your coming to Dvārakā, O lord. Soon indeed you will see your uncle, O Madhusūdana, Baladeva, and the unassailable one, and likewise the other foremost among the Vṛṣṇis. (14-51-23))
This coming of yours to Dvārakā is truly pleasing to me, O lord. Very soon you will see your uncle, O Madhusūdana, as well as Baladeva, the unassailable one, and also the other foremost of the Vṛṣṇis. (14-51-23)
एवं सम्भाषमाणौ तौ प्राप्तौ वारणसाह्वयम्। तथा विविशतुश्चोभौ सम्प्रहृष्टनराकुलम् ॥१४-५१-२४॥

(Vidura and (one) of great intellect, and the king Yudhiṣṭhira, Bhīmasena and (who is) difficult to be overcome, the sons of Mādrī (Nakula and Sahadeva) and the Pandavas, Dhṛtarāṣṭra (who is) seated near, Yuyutsu and the unconquered.)

गान्धारीं च महाप्राज्ञां पृथां कृष्णां च भामिनीम्। सुभद्राद्याश्च ताः सर्वा भरतानां स्त्रियस्तथा ॥ ददृशाते स्थिताः सर्वा गान्धारीं परिवार्य वै ॥१४-५१-२७॥
gāndhārīṃ ca mahāprājñāṃ pṛthāṃ kṛṣṇāṃ ca bhāminīm। subhadrādyāśca tāḥ sarvā bharatānāṃ striyastathā ॥ dadṛśāte sthitāḥ sarvā gāndhārīṃ parivārya vai ॥14-51-27॥

(They saw Gāndhārī and the greatly wise Pṛthā, and Kṛṣṇā the radiant, Subhadrā and the others, all those women of the Bhāratas, likewise; all these, having surrounded Gāndhārī, were standing.)

क्षत्तारं चापि सम्पूज्य पृष्ट्वा कुशलमव्ययम्। तैः सार्धं नृपतिं वृद्धं ततस्तं पर्युपासताम् ॥१४-५१-३०॥
kṣattāraṃ cāpi sampūjya pṛṣṭvā kuśalam-avyayam। taiḥ sārdhaṃ nṛpatiṃ vṛddhaṃ tatastaṃ paryupāsatām ॥14-51-30॥

(There, honored as per rule, attended with all comforts, Kṛṣṇa, the intelligent, having Dhanañjaya as helper, slept.)

प्रभातायां तु शर्वर्यां कृतपूर्वाह्णिकक्रियौ। धर्मराजस्य भवनं जग्मतुः परमार्चितौ ॥ यत्रास्ते स सहामात्यो धर्मराजो महामनाः ॥१४-५१-३४॥

(At dawn but, during the night, having performed the morning rites, to the house of Dharmarāja, both most highly respected went; where abides he with ministers, Dharmarāja, great-minded.)
At dawn, after performing the morning rites, the two most highly respected men went to the house of Dharmarāja, where the great-minded Dharmarāja sat together with his ministers. (14-51-34)
ततस्तौ तत्प्रविश्याथ ददृशाते महाबलौ। धर्मराजानमासीनं देवराजमिवाश्विनौ ॥१४-५१-३५॥
tatastau tatpraviśyātha dadṛśāte mahābalau। dharmarājānam āsīnaṃ devarājam ivāśvinau ॥14-51-35॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; तौ (tau) - those two; तत्-प्रविश्य (tat-praviśya) - having entered that; अथ (atha) - thereupon; ददृशाते (dadṛśāte) - (they two) saw; महा-बलौ (mahā-balau) - of great strength; (both) धर्म-राजानम् (dharma-rājānam) - King Yudhishthira; (the king of dharma) आसीनम् (āsīnam) - seated; देव-राजम्-इव (deva-rājam-iva) - like the king of gods; अश्विनौ (aśvinau) - the two Aśvins;]
(Then those two, having entered that (place), thereupon saw (themselves) of great strength, King Yudhishthira seated, like the king of gods (Indra), (as) the two Aśvins.)
Then those two, after entering there, saw the mighty King Yudhishthira seated like the king of the gods, just as the two Aśvins (would see Indra). (14-51-35)
तौ समासाद्य राजानं वार्ष्णेयकुरुपुङ्गवौ। निषीदतुरनुज्ञातौ प्रीयमाणेन तेन वै ॥१४-५१-३६॥

(Those two, having approached the king—Vārṣṇeya and the Kuru-lord—, sat down, permitted by him, being pleased, indeed.)

ततः स राजा मेधावी विवक्षू प्रेक्ष्य तावुभौ। प्रोवाच वदतां श्रेष्ठो वचनं राजसत्तमः ॥१४-५१-३७॥

(Then he, the intelligent king, wishing to speak, having looked upon both of them, the best among speakers, the best of kings, spoke words.)

[विवक्षू (vivakṣū) - wishing to speak (dual); हि (hi) - indeed; युवां (yuvāṁ) - you two; मnye (manye) - I consider; वीरौ (vīrau) - valiant ones (dual); यदुकुरूद्वहौ (yadukurūdvahau) - the best of the Yadus and Kurus (dual); ब्रूत (brūta) - speak (imperative, dual); कर्ता (kartā) - I shall do; अस्मि (asmi) - I am; सर्वं (sarvaṁ) - everything; वां (vāṁ) - for you two; न (na) - not; चिरात् (cirāt) - after delay; मा (mā) - do not; विचार्यताम् (vicāryatām) - let it be considered;]
(Wishing to speak indeed, you two I consider valiant ones, best of the Yadus and Kurus. Speak, I am the doer of everything for you two; let it not be considered after delay.)
I truly consider you both, the best among the Yadus and Kurus, to be valiant and eager to speak. Say what you wish—I will do everything for you both; do not delay or hesitate to express it. (14-51-38)
इत्युक्ते फल्गुनस्तत्र धर्मराजानमब्रवीत्। विनीतवदुपागम्य वाक्यं वाक्यविशारदः ॥१४-५१-३९॥
ityukte phalgunas tatra dharmarājānam abravīt। vinīta-vad upāgamya vākyaṃ vākya-viśāradaḥ ॥14-51-39॥

(When thus said, Phalguna (Arjuna) there spoke to Dharmaraja (Yudhishthira), humbly approaching, word, skilled in speech.)
When these words had been spoken, Phalguna (Arjuna), skilled in speech, humbly approached and spoke to Dharmaraja (Yudhishthira). (14-51-39)
अयं चिरोषितो राजन्वासुदेवः प्रतापवान्। भवन्तं समनुज्ञाप्य पितरं द्रष्टुमिच्छति ॥१४-५१-४०॥
ayaṁ ciroṣito rājan vāsudevaḥ pratāpavān। bhavantaṁ samanujñāpya pitaraṁ draṣṭum icchati॥14-51-40॥
[अयं (ayaṁ) - this; चिरोषितः (ciroṣitaḥ) - having dwelt for a long time; राजन् (rājan) - O king; वासुदेवः (vāsudevaḥ) - Vasudeva; प्रतापवान् (pratāpavān) - full of valor; भवन्तं (bhavantaṁ) - you; समनुज्ञाप्य (samanujñāpya) - having obtained permission; पितरं (pitaraṁ) - father; द्रष्टुम् (draṣṭum) - to see; इच्छति (icchati) - wishes;]
(This having dwelt for a long time O king Vasudeva full of valor, having obtained your permission, wishes to see father.)
O king, this long-dwelling, valorous Vasudeva, having obtained your permission, wishes to see his father. (14-51-40)
स गच्छेदभ्यनुज्ञातो भवता यदि मन्यसे। आनर्तनगरीं वीरस्तदनुज्ञातुमर्हसि ॥१४-५१-४१॥
sa gacched abhyanujñāto bhavatā yadi manyase. ānarta-nagarīṃ vīras tad-anujñātum arhasi ॥14-51-41॥
[स (sa) - he; गच्छेत् (gacchet) - should go; अभ्यनुज्ञातः (abhyanujñātaḥ) - permitted; भवता (bhavatā) - by you; यदि (yadi) - if; मन्यसे (manyase) - you think; आनर्तनगरीम् (ānarta-nagarīm) - to the city of Anarta; वीरः (vīraḥ) - hero; तत् (tat) - that; अनुज्ञातुम् (anujñātum) - to permit; अर्हसि (arhasi) - you ought;]
(He should go, permitted by you, if you think; to Anarta's city the hero—that to permit you ought.)
If you think so, the hero should go to the city of Anarta with your permission; you ought to permit that. (14-51-41)

O lotus-eyed Madhusūdana, auspiciousness to you! Go today to the city of Dvāravatī to see the son of Śūra, the lord. (14-51-42)
रोचते मे महाबाहो गमनं तव केशव। मातुलश्चिरदृष्टो मे त्वया देवी च देवकी ॥१४-५१-४३॥
rocate me mahābāho gamanaṃ tava keśava। mātulaściradṛṣṭo me tvayā devī ca devakī ॥14-51-43॥
[रोचते (rocate) - is pleasing; मे (me) - to me; महाबाहो (mahābāho) - O mighty-armed (one); गमनं (gamanaṃ) - the going; journey; तव (tava) - your; केशव (keśava) - O Keśava; मातुलः (mātulaḥ) - maternal uncle; चिरदृष्टः (ciradṛṣṭaḥ) - long-unseen; मे (me) - by me; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; देवी (devī) - lady; goddess; च (ca) - and; देवकी (devakī) - Devakī;]
(Is pleasing to me, O mighty-armed, your going, O Keśava. The maternal uncle long-unseen by me, by you, Devī and Devakī.)
O mighty-armed Keśava, your journey pleases me. Also, it has been long since you, Devī, and Devakī have seen our maternal uncle. (14-51-43)
मातुलं वसुदेवं त्वं बलदेवं च माधव। पूजयेथा महाप्राज्ञ मद्वाक्येन यथार्हतः ॥१४-५१-४४॥
mātulaṁ vasudevaṁ tvaṁ baladevaṁ ca mādhava. pūjayethā mahāprājña madvākyena yathārhataḥ ॥14-51-44॥
[मातुलं (mātulaṁ) - maternal uncle (accusative singular); वसुदेवं (vasudevaṁ) - Vasudeva (accusative singular); त्वं (tvaṁ) - you; बलदेवं (baladevaṁ) - Baladeva (accusative singular); च (ca) - and; माधव (mādhava) - Mādhava (vocative singular); पूजयेथा (pūjayethā) - you should worship; महाप्राज्ञ (mahāprājña) - O greatly wise one (vocative singular); मद्वाक्येन (madvākyena) - by my words; यथार्हतः (yathārhataḥ) - as is appropriate;]
(Maternal uncle Vasudeva and Baladeva you, Mādhava, should worship, O greatly wise one, by my words, as is appropriate.)
O Mādhava, you should worship your maternal uncle Vasudeva and Baladeva as is appropriate, O greatly wise one, according to my words. (14-51-44)
स्मरेथाश्चापि मां नित्यं भीमं च बलिनां वरम्। फल्गुनं नकुलं चैव सहदेवं च माधव ॥१४-५१-४५॥
smarethāś cāpi māṃ nityaṃ bhīmaṃ ca balināṃ varam। phalgunaṃ nakulaṃ caiva sahadevaṃ ca mādhava ॥14-51-45॥
[स्मरेथाः (smarethāḥ) - may you remember; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; माम् (mām) - me; नित्यं (nityaṃ) - always; भीमं (bhīmaṃ) - Bhīma; च (ca) - and; बलिनां (balināṃ) - among the strong; वरम् (varam) - the best; फल्गुनं (phalgunaṃ) - Phalguna (Arjuna); नकुलं (nakulaṃ) - Nakula; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; सहदेवं (sahadevaṃ) - Sahadeva; च (ca) - and; माधव (mādhava) - Mādhava (Kṛṣṇa);]
(May you remember me always and Bhīma, the best among the strong, Phalguna, Nakula indeed, Sahadeva, and Mādhava.)
Always remember me, Bhīma the foremost of the mighty, Phalguna (Arjuna), Nakula, Sahadeva, and Mādhava (Kṛṣṇa). (14-51-45)
आनर्तानवलोक्य त्वं पितरं च महाभुज। वृष्णींश्च पुनरागच्छेर्हयमेधे ममानघ ॥१४-५१-४६॥
ānartān avalokya tvaṁ pitaraṁ ca mahā-bhuja। vṛṣṇīṁś ca punar āgaccher hayamedhe mama anagha ॥14-51-46॥
[आनर्तान (ānartān) - the Anartas; (name of a people or country); अवलोक्य (avalokya) - having seen; त्वं (tvaṁ) - you; पितरं (pitaraṁ) - father; च (ca) - and; महाभुज (mahā-bhuja) - O mighty-armed; वृष्णींश् (vṛṣṇīn) - the Vṛṣṇis; च (ca) - and; पुनः (punaḥ) - again; आगच्छेत् (āgacchet) - you should return; हयमेधे (hayamedhe) - at the aśvamedha (horse sacrifice); मम (mama) - my; अनघ (anagha) - O sinless one;]
(Having seen the Anartas, you, your father and O mighty-armed, the Vṛṣṇis and again you should return at my horse-sacrifice, O sinless one.)
After you visit the Anartas, your father, and the Vṛṣṇis, O mighty-armed one, you should return again to my aśvamedha (horse sacrifice), O sinless one. (14-51-46)
स गच्छ रत्नान्यादाय विविधानि वसूनि च। यच्चाप्यन्यन्मनोज्ञं ते तदप्यादत्स्व सात्वत ॥१४-५१-४७॥
sa gaccha ratnāni ādāya vividhāni vasūni ca। yac ca api anyat manojñam te tat api ādatsva sātvata ॥14-51-47॥
[स (sa) - he; गच्छ (gaccha) - go; रत्नानि (ratnāni) - gems; आदाय (ādāya) - having taken; विविधानि (vividhāni) - various; वसूनि (vasūni) - treasures; च (ca) - and; यत् (yat) - that which; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; अन्यत् (anyat) - other; मनोज्ञम् (manojñam) - pleasing to the mind; ते (te) - to you; तत् (tat) - that; अपि (api) - also; आदत्स्व (ādatsva) - take (for yourself); सात्वत (sātvata) - O Sātvata (descendant of Sātvata);]
(He go, gems having taken, various treasures and; that and also other pleasing (to the mind), to you, that also take, O Sātvata.)
Go, take the gems and various treasures; and whatever else is pleasing to you, O Sātvata, take that also. (14-51-47)
इयं हि वसुधा सर्वा प्रसादात्तव माधव। अस्मानुपगता वीर निहताश्चापि शत्रवः ॥१४-५१-४८॥
iyaṁ hi vasudhā sarvā prasādāt tava mādhava। asmān upagatā vīra nihatāś ca api śatravaḥ॥14-51-48॥
[इयं (iyaṁ) - this (feminine); हि (hi) - indeed; वसुधा (vasudhā) - earth; सर्वा (sarvā) - all; entire; प्रसादात् (prasādāt) - by favor; by grace; तव (tava) - of you; your; माधव (mādhava) - O Mādhava; O descendant of Madhu; अस्मान् (asmān) - to us; उपगता (upagatā) - has come; has attained; वीर (vīra) - O hero; निहताः (nihatāḥ) - were slain; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; even; शत्रवः (śatravaḥ) - enemies;]
(This indeed earth entire by favor of you, O Mādhava, to us has come, O hero, slain also the enemies.)
O Mādhava, indeed, the entire earth has come to us by your favor, O hero, and the enemies have also been slain. (14-51-48)
एवं ब्रुवति कौरव्ये धर्मराजे युधिष्ठिरे। वासुदेवो वरः पुंसामिदं वचनमब्रवीत् ॥१४-५१-४९॥
evaṃ bruvati kauravye dharmarāje yudhiṣṭhire। vāsudevo varaḥ puṃsām idaṃ vacanam abravīt॥14-51-49॥
[एवं (evaṃ) - thus; ब्रुवति (bruvati) - speaking; कौरव्ये (kauravye) - to the Kaurava; धर्मराजे (dharmarāje) - to the king of dharma; युधिष्ठिरे (yudhiṣṭhire) - to Yudhishthira; वासुदेवः (vāsudevaḥ) - Vasudeva; वरः (varaḥ) - the best; पुंसाम् (puṃsām) - of men; इदं (idaṃ) - this; वचनम् (vacanam) - speech; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - spoke;]
(Thus, while Kauravya, the king of Dharma, Yudhishthira, was speaking, Vasudeva, the best of men, spoke this speech.)
When Kauravya, Dharma's king, Yudhishthira, was thus speaking, Vasudeva, the best among men, spoke these words. (14-51-49)
तवैव रत्नानि धनं च केवल; म्धरा च कृत्स्ना तु महाभुजाद्य वै। यदस्ति चान्यद्द्रविणं गृहेषु मे; त्वमेव तस्येश्वर नित्यमीश्वरः ॥१४-५१-५०॥
tavaiva ratnāni dhanaṃ ca kevala; madharā ca kṛtsnā tu mahābhujādya vai. yad asti ca anyad draviṇaṃ gṛheṣu me; tvam eva tasya īśvara nityam īśvaraḥ ॥14-51-50॥
[तवैव (tavaiva) - indeed of you; रत्नानि (ratnāni) - jewels; धनं (dhanaṃ) - wealth; च (ca) - and; केवल (kevala) - solely; म्धरा (madharā) - earth; च (ca) - and; कृत्स्ना (kṛtsnā) - entire; तु (tu) - but; महाभुजाद्य (mahābhujādya) - O mighty-armed one; वै (vai) - indeed; यत् (yat) - whatever; अस्ति (asti) - exists; च (ca) - and; अन्यत् (anyat) - other; द्रविणं (draviṇam) - possession; गृहेषु (gṛheṣu) - in the houses; मे (me) - my; त्वम् (tvam) - you; एव (eva) - indeed; तस्य (tasya) - of that; ईश्वर (īśvara) - lord; नित्यम् (nityam) - always; ईश्वरः (īśvaraḥ) - lord;]
(Indeed, jewels and wealth solely are yours; the entire earth also, O mighty-armed one, indeed. Whatever other possession exists in my houses, you indeed are its lord, always the lord.)
All the jewels and wealth are truly yours alone, and even the whole earth, O mighty-armed one, indeed. Whatever other possessions there are in my houses, you alone are their master, always the lord. (14-51-50)
तथेत्यथोक्तः प्रतिपूजितस्तदा; गदाग्रजो धर्मसुतेन वीर्यवान्। पितृष्वसामभ्यवदद्यथाविधि; सम्पूजितश्चाप्यगमत्प्रदक्षिणम् ॥१४-५१-५१॥
tathety athoktaḥ pratipūjitas tadā; gadāgrajo dharmasutenavīryavān। pitṛṣvasām abhyavadad yathāvidhi; sampūjitaś cāpy agamad pradakṣiṇam ॥14-51-51॥
[तथा (tathā) - thus; इति (iti) - so; उक्तः (uktaḥ) - having been spoken; प्रतिपूजितः (pratipūjitaḥ) - duly honored; तदा (tadā) - then; गदाग्रजः (gadāgrajaḥ) - the elder brother of Gadā (Baladeva); धर्मसुतेन (dharmasūtena) - by the son of Dharma; वीर्यवान् (vīryavān) - mighty; पितृष्वसाम् (pitṛṣvasām) - of the paternal aunts; अभ्यवदत् (abhyavadat) - he greeted; यथाविधि (yathāvidhi) - according to prescription; सम्पूजितः (sampūjitaḥ) - having been honored; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; अगमत् (agamat) - he went; प्रदक्षिणम् (pradakṣiṇam) - clockwise (circumambulation);]
(Thus, having been so spoken and duly honored then, the elder brother of Gadā, mighty, by the son of Dharma, of the paternal aunts, he greeted according to prescription, having been honored also, he went around (clockwise).)
Thus, after being addressed and honored as prescribed, the mighty elder brother of Gadā was honored by the son of Dharma. He greeted his paternal aunts according to due form, and after being honored, circumambulated them. (14-51-51)
तया स सम्यक्प्रतिनन्दितस्तदा; तथैव सर्वैर्विदुरादिभिस्ततः। विनिर्ययौ नागपुराद्गदाग्रजो; रथेन दिव्येन चतुर्युजा हरिः ॥१४-५१-५२॥
tayā sa samyak-pratinanditas tadā; tathaiva sarvair vidurādibhis tataḥ। viniryayau nāgapurād gadāgrajo; rathena divyena caturyujā hariḥ ॥14-51-52॥
[तया (tayā) - by her; सः (saḥ) - he; सम्यक्-प्रतिनन्दितः (samyak-pratinanditaḥ) - well-honored; तदा (tadā) - then; तथा एव (tatha eva) - in the same way; सर्वैः (sarvaiḥ) - by all; विदुर-आदिभिः (vidura-ādibhiḥ) - by Vidura and others; ततः (tataḥ) - from there; विनिर्ययौ (viniryayau) - departed; नागपुरात् (nāgapurāt) - from Nāgapura; गदाग्रजः (gadāgrajaḥ) - elder brother of Gadā (Bhīma); रथेन (rathena) - by chariot; दिव्येन (divyena) - divine; चतुर्युजा (caturyujā) - with four-yoked (drawn by four steeds); हरिः (hariḥ) - Hari (Kṛṣṇa);]
(By her, he, well-honored, then; in the same way by all, by Vidura and others, from there; departed from Nāgapura, the elder brother of Gadā (Bhīma), by chariot, divine, with four yokes, Hari (Kṛṣṇa).)
At that time, having been duly honored by her, and likewise by all—Vidura and the others—Hari (Kṛṣṇa), the elder brother of Gadā, departed from Nāgapura in a divine chariot drawn by four horses. (14-51-52)
रथं सुभद्रामधिरोप्य भामिनीं; युधिष्ठिरस्यानुमते जनार्दनः। पितृष्वसायाश्च तथा महाभुजो; विनिर्ययौ पौरजनाभिसंवृतः ॥१४-५१-५३॥
rathaṃ subhadrām adhiropya bhāminīṃ; yudhiṣṭhirasya anumate janārdanaḥ। pitṛṣvasāyāś ca tathā mahābhujo; viniryayau paurajanābhisaṃvṛtaḥ ॥14-51-53॥
[रथं (ratham) - chariot; सुभद्रामधिरोप्य (subhadrām adhiropya) - having mounted Subhadrā (upon the chariot); भामिनीं (bhāminīm) - the illustrious lady; युधिष्ठिरस्य (yudhiṣṭhirasya) - of Yudhiṣṭhira; अनुमते (anumate) - with the consent; जनार्दनः (janārdanaḥ) - Janārdana (Kṛṣṇa); पितृष्वसायाश्च (pitṛṣvasāyāś ca) - and of the maternal aunt (Kuntī); तथा (tathā) - also; महाभुजः (mahābhujaḥ) - the mighty-armed (Kṛṣṇa); विनिर्ययौ (viniryayau) - departed; पौरजनाभिसंवृतः (paurajanābhisaṃvṛtaḥ) - surrounded by the townspeople;]
(The chariot having mounted Subhadrā, the illustrious lady, with the consent of Yudhiṣṭhira and of the maternal aunt also, Janārdana, the mighty-armed, departed, surrounded by the townspeople.)
Having placed Subhadrā, the illustrious lady, on the chariot, with the consent of Yudhiṣṭhira and also of his maternal aunt, Janārdana, the mighty-armed, set out, surrounded by the townspeople. (14-51-53)
तमन्वगाद्वानरवर्यकेतनः; ससात्यकिर्माद्रवतीसुतावपि। अगाधबुद्धिर्विदुरश्च माधवं; स्वयं च भीमो गजराजविक्रमः ॥१४-५१-५४॥
tam anvāgād vānara-varya-ketanaḥ; sa-sātyakir mādravatī-sutāv api. agādha-buddhir viduraś ca mādhavaṃ; svayaṃ ca bhīmo gaja-rāja-vikramaḥ ॥14-51-54॥
[तम् (tam) - him; अन्वगात् (anvāgāt) - followed after; वानरवर्यकेतनः (vānara-varya-ketanaḥ) - he whose banner bears the foremost monkey (Hanuman); ससात्यकिः (sa-sātyakiḥ) - with Sātyaki; माद्रवतीसुतौ (mādravatī-sutau) - the two sons of Mādravatī; अपि (api) - also; अगाधबुद्धिः (agādha-buddhiḥ) - of unfathomable intellect; विदुरः (viduraḥ) - Vidura; च (ca) - and; माधवम् (mādhavam) - Kṛṣṇa (Madhava); स्वयम् (svayam) - himself; च (ca) - and; भीमः (bhīmaḥ) - Bhīma; गजराजविक्रमः (gaja-rāja-vikramaḥ) - having the prowess of a king of elephants;]
(Him followed he whose banner bears the foremost monkey; with Sātyaki, the two sons of Mādravatī also. Of unfathomable intellect, Vidura and Mādhava; himself also Bhīma of elephant-king's prowess.)
He was followed by him whose banner bears Hanuman (Arjuna); together with Sātyaki, the two sons of Mādravatī (Nakula and Sahadeva), Vidura of unfathomable intellect, Mādhava (Kṛṣṇa), and Bhīma himself, possessing the prowess of a king of elephants. (14-51-54)
निवर्तयित्वा कुरुराष्ट्रवर्धनां; स्ततः स सर्वान्विदुरं च वीर्यवान्। जनार्दनो दारुकमाह सत्वरः; प्रचोदयाश्वानिति सात्यकिस्तदा ॥१४-५१-५५॥
nivartayitvā kururāṣṭravardhanāṃ; stataḥ sa sarvānviduraṃ ca vīryavān. janārdano dārukamāha satvaraḥ; pracodayāśvāniti sātyakistadā ॥14-51-55॥
[निवर्तयित्वा (nivartayitvā) - having turned back; कुरुराष्ट्रवर्धनां (kururāṣṭravardhanāṃ) - the increasers of the Kuru kingdom; स्ततः (stataḥ) - then; स (sa) - he; सर्वान् (sarvān) - all; विदुरं (viduram) - Vidura; च (ca) - and; वीर्यवान् (vīryavān) - the powerful; जनार्दनो (janārdano) - Janārdana; दारुकम् (dārukam) - Dāruka; आह (āha) - said; सत्वरः (satvaraḥ) - quickly; प्रचोदय (pracodaya) - urge on; अश्वानिति (aśvān iti) - the horses—thus; सात्यकिः (sātyakiḥ) - Sātyaki; तदा (tadā) - then;]
(Having turned back the increasers of the Kuru kingdom; then he, all, Vidura also, the powerful; Janārdana, quickly, said to Dāruka: “Urge on the horses”—thus Sātyaki then.)
Having repelled the champions of the Kuru kingdom, then the powerful Janārdana said to Dāruka with urgency, "Drive on the horses"—thus Sātyaki at that time. (14-51-55)
ततो ययौ शत्रुगणप्रमर्दनः; शिनिप्रवीरानुगतो जनार्दनः। यथा निहत्यारिगणाञ्शतक्रतु; र्दिवं तथानर्तपुरीं प्रतापवान् ॥१४-५१-५६॥
tato yayau śatrugaṇapramardanaḥ; śinipravīrānugato janārdanaḥ. yathā nihatya arigaṇān śatakratuḥ divaṃ tathā anartapurīṃ pratāpavān ॥14-51-56॥

(Then went the destroyer of hosts of enemies; accompanied by the heroic Shinis, Janardana. Just as, having slain hosts of foes, Śatakratu (Indra) to heaven; so, to the city of Anarta, the mighty one.)
