tathā prayāntaṃ vārṣṇeyaṃ dvārakāṃ bharatarṣabhāḥ। pariṣvajya nyavartanta sānu-yātrāḥ parantapāḥ॥14-52-1॥
[तथा (tathā) - thus; प्रयान्तं (prayāntam) - departing; वार्ष्णेयं (vārṣṇeyam) - son of Vṛṣṇi; द्वारकां (dvārakām) - to Dvārakā; भरतर्षभाः (bharatarṣabhāḥ) - bulwarks of the Bharata (clan); परिष्वज्य (pariṣvajya) - having embraced; न्यवर्तन्त (nyavartanta) - they turned back; सानुयात्राः (sānu-yātrāḥ) - together with their procession; परन्तपाः (parantapāḥ) - scorchers of foes;]
(Thus, the Bharata chiefs, having embraced the son of Vṛṣṇi, who was departing to Dvārakā, turned back together with their retinue, scorchers of foes.)
Thus, the Bharata heroes, after embracing the son of Vṛṣṇi who was leaving for Dvārakā, turned back with their entourage. (14-52-1)
पुनः पुनश्च वार्ष्णेयं पर्यष्वजत फल्गुनः। आ चक्षुर्विषयाच्चैनं ददर्श च पुनः पुनः ॥१४-५२-२॥
punaḥ punaś ca vārṣṇeyaṁ paryaṣvajata phalguṇaḥ। ā cakṣur-viṣayāc ca enaṁ dadarśa ca punaḥ punaḥ॥14-52-2॥
[पुनः (punaḥ) - again; पुनः (punaḥ) - again; च (ca) - and; वार्ष्णेयं (vārṣṇeyam) - son of Vṛṣṇi (Krishna); पर्यष्वजत (paryaṣvajata) - embraced; फल्गुनः (phalguṇaḥ) - Phalguna (Arjuna); आ (ā) - up to; चक्षुर्-विषयात् (cakṣur-viṣayāt) - from the range of vision; च (ca) - and; एनम् (enam) - him; ददर्श (dadarśa) - saw; च (ca) - and; पुनः (punaḥ) - again; पुनः (punaḥ) - again;]
(Again and again also Vārṣṇeya (Krishna) was embraced by Phalguṇa (Arjuna); and as far as he was within the range of sight, him he saw and again and again.)
Again and again, Arjuna embraced Krishna; and as long as Krishna was within his sight, Arjuna kept looking at him again and again. (14-52-2)
कृच्छ्रेणैव च तां पार्थो गोविन्दे विनिवेशिताम्। सञ्जहार तदा दृष्टिं कृष्णश्चाप्यपराजितः ॥१४-५२-३॥
kṛcchreṇaiva ca tāṃ pārtho govinde viniveśitām। sañjahāra tadā dṛṣṭiṃ kṛṣṇaś cāpy aparājitaḥ॥14-52-3॥

(With difficulty only and that (gaze) Pārtha on Govinda fixed, withdrew then gaze. Kṛṣṇa also unconquered.)
Then, with difficulty alone, Pārtha (Arjuna) withdrew his gaze, which had been fixed on Govinda, and Kṛṣṇa too, unconquered, did the same. (14-52-3)
तस्य प्रयाणे यान्यासन्निमित्तानि महात्मनः। बहून्यद्भुतरूपाणि तानि मे गदतः शृणु ॥१४-५२-४॥
tasya prayāṇe yāny āsannimittāni mahātmanaḥ। bahūny adbhutarūpāṇi tāni me gadataḥ śṛṇu ॥14-52-4॥
[तस्य (tasya) - of him (the); प्रयाणे (prayāṇe) - at the departure; यानि (yāni) - which; आसन्निमित्तानि (āsannimittāni) - prognostic signs; महात्मनः (mahātmanaḥ) - of the great-souled one; बहूनि (bahūni) - many; अद्भुतरूपाणि (adbhutarūpāṇi) - of wondrous forms; तानि (tāni) - those; मे (me) - to me; गदतः (gadataḥ) - saying; शृणु (śṛṇu) - listen;]
(At his departure, which prognostic signs of the great-souled one, many of wondrous forms, those to me speaking, listen.)
At his departure, listen as I tell you of the many wondrous signs that occurred for that great-souled one. (14-52-4)
वायुर्वेगेन महता रथस्य पुरतो ववौ। कुर्वन्निःशर्करं मार्गं विरजस्कमकण्टकम् ॥१४-५२-५॥
vāyur vegena mahatā rathasya purataḥ vavau। kurvan niḥśarkaraṃ mārgaṃ virajaskam akaṇṭakam॥14-52-5॥

(The wind with great speed blew in front of the chariot, making the road free from gravel, free from dust, and free from thorns.)
The wind, moving with great speed in front of the chariot, cleared the road of gravel, dust, and thorns. (14-52-5)
ववर्ष वासवश्चापि तोयं शुचि सुगन्धि च। दिव्यानि चैव पुष्पाणि पुरतः शार्ङ्गधन्वनः ॥१४-५२-६॥

स पृष्टः कुशलं तेन सम्पूज्य मधुसूदनम्। उत्तङ्को ब्राह्मणश्रेष्ठस्ततः पप्रच्छ माधवम् ॥१४-५२-९॥

(He, having been asked of well-being by him, having honored Madhusudana; Uttanka, the best among Brahmanas, then asked Madhava.)

कच्चिच्छौरे त्वया गत्वा कुरुपाण्डवसद्म तत्। कृतं सौभ्रात्रमचलं तन्मे व्याख्यातुमर्हसि ॥१४-५२-१०॥
kaccicchaure tvayā gatvā kurupāṇḍavasadma tat. kṛtaṃ saubhrātram acalaṃ tan me vyākhyātum arhasi ॥14-52-10॥
[कच्चित् (kaccit) - whether; छौरे (chaure) - O son of Vasudeva (Krishna); त्वया (tvayā) - by you; गत्वा (gatvā) - having gone; कुरुपाण्डवसद्म (kurupāṇḍavasadma) - house of the Kuru and the Pāṇḍava; तत् (tat) - that; कृतं (kṛtam) - done; सौभ्रात्रम् (saubhrātram) - brotherhood; अचलम् (acalam) - firm; तत् (tat) - that; मे (me) - to me; व्याख्यातुम् (vyākhyātum) - to explain; अर्हसि (arhasi) - you ought;]
(Whether, O son of Vasudeva, by you having gone to that house of the Kuru and the Pāṇḍava, that firm brotherhood is done; that, to me, you ought to explain.)
O son of Vasudeva, did you, having gone to the house of the Kurus and the Pāṇḍavas, establish firm brotherhood? Please explain that to me. (14-52-10)
अभिसन्धाय तान्वीरानुपावृत्तोऽसि केशव। सम्बन्धिनः सुदयितान्सततं वृष्णिपुङ्गव ॥१४-५२-११॥
abhisandhāya tān vīrān upāvṛtto'si keśava। sambandhinaḥ sudayitān satataṃ vṛṣṇipuṅgava ॥14-52-11॥
[अभिसन्धाय (abhisandhāya) - having resolved; तान् (tān) - those; वीरान् (vīrān) - heroes; उपावृत्तः (upāvṛttaḥ) - turned away; असि (asi) - (you) are; केशव (keśava) - Keśava; सम्बन्धिनः (sambandhinaḥ) - kinsmen; सुदयितान् (sudayitān) - very dear; सततम् (satatam) - always; वृष्णिपुङ्गव (vṛṣṇipuṅgava) - best of the Vṛṣṇis;]
(Having resolved, those heroes, turned away you are, Keśava, kinsmen, very dear, always, best of the Vṛṣṇis.)
Keśava, having resolved regarding those heroic kinsmen, you have always turned away from even the most dear ones, O best of the Vṛṣṇis. (14-52-11)
कच्चित्पाण्डुसुताः पञ्च धृतराष्ट्रस्य चात्मजाः। लोकेषु विहरिष्यन्ति त्वया सह परन्तप ॥१४-५२-१२॥
kaccit pāṇḍusutāḥ pañca dhṛtarāṣṭrasya ca ātmajāḥ। lokeṣu vihariṣyanti tvayā saha parantapa ॥14-52-12॥
[कच्चित् (kaccit) - whether; perhaps; पाण्डुसुताः (pāṇḍusutāḥ) - sons of Pāṇḍu; पञ्च (pañca) - five; धृतराष्ट्रस्य (dhṛtarāṣṭrasya) - of Dhṛtarāṣṭra; च (ca) - and; आत्मजाः (ātmajāḥ) - sons; लोकेषु (lokeṣu) - in the worlds; विहरिष्यन्ति (vihariṣyanti) - will dwell; will live; त्वया (tvayā) - with you; सह (saha) - together with; परन्तप (parantapa) - O scorcher of foes;]
(Whether the five sons of Pāṇḍu and the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra will dwell in the worlds with you together, O scorcher of foes.)
O scorcher of foes, will the five sons of Pāṇḍu and the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra live together with you in this world? (14-52-12)
स्वराष्ट्रेषु च राजानः कच्चित्प्राप्स्यन्ति वै सुखम्। कौरवेषु प्रशान्तेषु त्वया नाथेन माधव ॥१४-५२-१३॥
svārāṣṭreṣu ca rājānaḥ kaccit prāpsyanti vai sukham। kauraveṣu praśānteṣu tvayā nāthena mādhava ॥14-52-13॥
[स्वराष्ट्रेषु (svārāṣṭreṣu) - in their own kingdoms; च (ca) - and; राजानः (rājānaḥ) - kings; कच्चित् (kaccit) - whether; प्राप्स्यन्ति (prāpsyanti) - will obtain; वै (vai) - indeed; सुखम् (sukham) - happiness; कौरवेषु (kauraveṣu) - among the Kauravas; प्रशान्तेषु (praśānteṣu) - being pacified; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; नाथेन (nāthena) - as protector; माधव (mādhava) - O Mādhava;]
(In their own kingdoms and the kings, will they indeed obtain happiness, among the Kauravas being pacified, by you as the protector, O Mādhava?)
O Mādhava, with you as the protector, will the kings in their own kingdoms indeed find happiness now that the Kauravas have been pacified? (14-52-13)
या मे सम्भावना तात त्वयि नित्यमवर्तत। अपि सा सफला कृष्ण कृता ते भरतान्प्रति ॥१४-५२-१४॥
yā me sambhāvanā tāta tvayi nityam avartata. api sā saphalā kṛṣṇa kṛtā te bharatān prati ॥14-52-14॥

(Which regard by me, O dear, in you always existed. Whether that fruitful, O Kṛṣṇa, made by you towards the Bharatas.)
O Kṛṣṇa, O dear one, the regard which always existed in me for you—has that been made fruitful by you for the sake of the Bharatas? (14-52-14)

Vāsudeva said.
कृतो यत्नो मया ब्रह्मन्सौभ्रात्रे कौरवान्प्रति। न चाशक्यन्त सन्धातुं तेऽधर्मरुचयो मया ॥१४-५२-१५॥
kṛto yatno mayā brahman saubhrātre kauravān prati। na cāśakyanta sandhātuṃ te'dharmarucayo mayā ॥14-52-15॥
[कृतो (kṛtaḥ) - done; यत्नः (yatnaḥ) - effort; मया (mayā) - by me; ब्रह्मन् (brahman) - O brāhmaṇa; सौभ्रात्रे (saubhrātre) - for friendship (brotherhood); कौरवान् (kauravān) - towards the Kauravas; प्रतिव (prati) - regarding; towards; न (na) - not; च (ca) - and; अशक्यन्त (aśakyanta) - were able; सन्धातुम् (sandhātum) - to effect peace; ते (te) - they; अधर्मरुचयः (adharmarucayaḥ) - who delight in unrighteousness; मया (mayā) - by me;]
(Done effort by me, O brāhmaṇa, for brotherhood towards the Kauravas; but not were able to effect peace they, who delight in unrighteousness, by me.)
O brāhmaṇa, I made every effort for friendship with the Kauravas, but those who delight in unrighteousness could not be brought to peace by me. (14-52-15)
ततस्ते निधनं प्राप्ताः सर्वे ससुतबान्धवाः। न दिष्टमभ्यतिक्रान्तुं शक्यं बुद्ध्या बलेन वा ॥ महर्षे विदितं नूनं सर्वमेतत्तवानघ ॥१४-५२-१६॥
tatas te nidhanaṃ prāptāḥ sarve sasutabāndhavāḥ। na diṣṭam abhyatikrāntuṃ śakyaṃ buddhyā balena vā॥ maharṣe viditaṃ nūnaṃ sarvam etat tavānagha॥14-52-16॥
[ततः (tataḥ) (tataḥ) - then; ते (te) (te) - they; निधनम् (nidhanaṃ) (nidhanaṃ) - death; प्राप्ताः (prāptāḥ) (prāptāḥ) - have attained; सर्वे (sarve) (sarve) - all; ससुतबान्धवाः (sasutabāndhavāḥ) (sasutabāndhavāḥ) - together with sons and kinsmen; न (na) (na) - not; दिष्टम् (diṣṭam) (diṣṭam) - ordained (by fate); अभ्यतिक्रान्तुम् (abhyatikrāntum) (abhyatikrāntum) - to overstep; शक्यं (śakyaṃ) (śakyaṃ) - possible; बुद्ध्या (buddhyā) (buddhyā) - by intellect; बलेन (balena) (balena) - by strength; वा (vā) (vā) - or; महर्षे (maharṣe) (maharṣe) - O great sage; विदितं (viditaṃ) (viditaṃ) - known; नूनं (nūnaṃ) (nūnaṃ) - surely; सर्वम् (sarvam) (sarvam) - all; एतत् (etat) (etat) - this; तव (tava) (tava) - to you; अनघ (anagha) (anagha) - O sinless one;]
(Then they attained death, all together with sons and kinsmen. Not possible to overstep what is ordained, by intellect or by strength. O great sage, surely all this is known to you, O sinless one. (14-52-16))
Then they, along with their sons and kinsmen, met their death. What is ordained cannot be overcome by intellect or strength. O great sage, surely all this is known to you, O sinless one. (14-52-16)
तेऽत्यक्रामन्मतिं मह्यं भीष्मस्य विदुरस्य च। ततो यमक्षयं जग्मुः समासाद्येतरेतरम् ॥१४-५२-१७॥
te'tyakrāman matiṃ mahyaṃ bhīṣmasya vidurasya ca। tato yamakṣayaṃ jagmuḥ samāsādyetaretaram ॥14-52-17॥
[ते (te) - they; अत्यक्रामन् (atyakrāman) - crossed over; मतिं (matiṃ) - the mind; म्ह्यं (mahyam) - my; भीष्मस्य (bhīṣmasya) - of Bhīṣma; विदुरस्य (vidurasya) - of Vidura; च (ca) - and; ततः (tataḥ) - then; यमक्षयम् (yamakṣayam) - the abode of Yama; जग्मुः (jagmuḥ) - they went; समासाद्य (samāsādya) - having approached; इतरेतरम् (itaretaram) - each other;]
(They crossed over the mind—my mind, Bhīṣma's, and Vidura's; then, having approached each other, they went to the abode of Yama.)
They transcended my mind, and the minds of Bhīṣma and Vidura; then, having come together, they went to the abode of Yama (death). (14-52-17)
पञ्च वै पाण्डवाः शिष्टा हतमित्रा हतात्मजाः। धार्तराष्ट्राश्च निहताः सर्वे ससुतबान्धवाः ॥१४-५२-१८॥
pañca vai pāṇḍavāḥ śiṣṭā hatamitrā hatātmajāḥ। dhārtarāṣṭrāś ca nihatāḥ sarve sasutabāndhavāḥ॥14-52-18॥
[पञ्च (pañca) - five; वै (vai) - indeed; पाण्डवाः (pāṇḍavāḥ) - the sons of Pāṇḍu; शिष्टाः (śiṣṭāḥ) - remain; हतमित्राः (hatamitrāḥ) - their enemies slain; हतात्मजाः (hatātmajāḥ) - their sons slain; धार्तराष्ट्राः (dhārtarāṣṭrāḥ) - the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra; च (ca) - and; निहताः (nihatāḥ) - slain; सर्वे (sarve) - all; ससुतबान्धवाः (sa-suta-bāndhavāḥ) - with sons and kinsmen;]
(Five indeed the Pāṇḍavas remain, their enemies slain, their sons slain. The Dhārtarāṣṭras also, all slain with sons and kinsmen.)
Only the five Pāṇḍavas remain, their enemies and sons slain. All the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra, along with their children and relatives, have been killed. (14-52-18)
इत्युक्तवचने कृष्णे भृशं क्रोधसमन्वितः। उत्तङ्कः प्रत्युवाचैनं रोषादुत्फाल्य लोचने ॥१४-५२-१९॥
ity-uktavacane kṛṣṇe bhṛśaṃ krodhasamanvitaḥ। uttaṅkaḥ pratyuvācainaṃ roṣād utphālya locane ॥14-52-19॥
[इति-उक्त-वचने (iti-ukta-vacane) - thus-spoken-statement; कृष्णे (kṛṣṇe) - to Kṛṣṇa; भृशं (bhṛśaṃ) - intensely; क्रोध-समन्वितः (krodha-samanvitaḥ) - with anger-endowed; उत्तङ्कः (uttaṅkaḥ) - Uttaṅka; प्रत्युवाच (pratyuvāca) - replied; एनं (enaṃ) - to him; रोषात् (roṣāt) - from wrath; उत्फाल्य (utphālya) - having widened; लोचने (locane) - eyes;]
(Thus, when the statement was spoken to Kṛṣṇa, intensely endowed with anger, Uttaṅka replied to him, from wrath having widened (his) eyes.)
Hearing this speech addressed to Kṛṣṇa, Uttaṅka, intensely angry, replied to him, his eyes widened with rage. (14-52-19)
यस्माच्छक्तेन ते कृष्ण न त्राताः कुरुपाण्डवाः। सम्बन्धिनः प्रियास्तस्माच्छप्स्येऽहं त्वामसंशयम् ॥१४-५२-२०॥
yasmāc chaktena te kṛṣṇa na trātāḥ kurupāṇḍavāḥ। sambandhinaḥ priyās tasmāc chapsye'haṃ tvām asaṃśayam ॥14-52-20॥
[यस्मात् (yasmāt) - because of which; शक्तेन (shaktena) - by the capable one; ते (te) - your; कृष्ण (kṛṣṇa) - Kṛṣṇa; न (na) - not; त्राताः (trātāḥ) - protected; कुरुपाण्डवाः (kurupāṇḍavāḥ) - Kurus and Pāṇḍavas; सम्बन्धिनः (sambandhinaḥ) - relatives; प्रियाः (priyāḥ) - dear ones; तस्मात् (tasmāt) - therefore; शप्स्ये (shapsye) - I will curse; अहम् (ahaṃ) - I; त्वाम् (tvām) - you; असंशयम् (asaṃśayam) - without doubt;]
(Because by the capable (you), O Krishna, your Kurus and Pandavas, those dear relatives, were not protected, therefore I will curse you without doubt.)
Because, O Krishna, although you were capable, your dear relatives, the Kurus and Pandavas, were not protected; therefore, I will certainly curse you.
न च ते प्रसभं यस्मात्ते निगृह्य निवर्तिताः। तस्मान्मन्युपरीतस्त्वां शप्स्यामि मधुसूदन ॥१४-५२-२१॥
na ca te prasabhaṁ yasmātte nigṛhya nivartitāḥ। tasmān manyuparītastvāṁ śapsyāmi madhusūdana ॥14-52-21॥
[न (na) - not; च (ca) - and; ते (te) - to you; प्रसभं (prasabham) - by force; यस्मात् (yasmāt) - because; ते (te) - your; निगृह्य (nigṛhya) - having restrained; निवर्तिताः (nivartitāḥ) - turned back; तस्मात् (tasmāt) - therefore; मन्युपरीतः (manyuparītaḥ) - overcome by anger; त्वाम् (tvām) - you; शप्स्यामि (śapsyāmi) - I shall curse; मधुसूदन (madhusūdana) - O Madhusudana (slayer of Madhu);]
(Not and to you by force because your having restrained turned back; therefore overcome by anger you I shall curse, O Madhusudana (slayer of Madhu);)
And since your people were not turned back having been restrained by force, therefore, O Madhusudana, overcome by anger, I shall curse you. (14-52-21)
त्वया हि शक्तेन सता मिथ्याचारेण माधव। उपचीर्णाः कुरुश्रेष्ठा यस्त्वेतान्समुपेक्षथाः ॥१४-५२-२२॥
tvayā hi śaktena satā mithyācāreṇa mādhava. upacīrṇāḥ kuruśreṣṭhā yas tv etān samupekṣathāḥ ॥14-52-22॥
[त्वया (tvayā) - by you; हि (hi) - for; शक्तेन (śaktena) - capable; सता (satā) - being; मिथ्याचारेण (mithyācāreṇa) - by hypocrisy; माधव (mādhava) - O Mādhava; उपचीर्णाः (upacīrṇāḥ) - overpowered; कुरुश्रेष्ठा (kuruśreṣṭhā) - the best of Kurus; यः (yaḥ) - who; त्व (tv) - you; एतान् (etān) - these; समुपेक्षथाः (samupekṣathāḥ) - neglect;]
(By you, for, being capable, being, by hypocrisy, O Mādhava, overpowered, best of Kurus, who, you, these, neglect.)
O Mādhava, even though you are capable and strong, it is through hypocrisy that you, the best of Kurus, are neglecting these who have been overpowered. (14-52-22)
वासुदेव उवाच॥

Vasudeva said.
शृणु मे विस्तरेणेदं यद्वक्ष्ये भृगुनन्दन। गृहाणानुनयं चापि तपस्वी ह्यसि भार्गव ॥१४-५२-२३॥
śṛṇu me vistareṇedaṃ yad vakṣye bhṛgunandana। gṛhāṇānunayaṃ cāpi tapasvī hy asi bhārgava॥14-52-23॥
[शृणु (śṛṇu) - hear; मे (me) - from me; विस्तरेण (vistareṇa) - in detail; इदं (idaṃ) - this; यत् (yat) - which; वक्ष्ये (vakṣye) - I shall say; भृगुनन्दन (bhṛgunandana) - O son of Bhṛgu; गृहाण (gṛhāṇa) - accept; अनुनयम् (anunayam) - kindness; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - indeed; तपस्वी (tapasvī) - ascetic; हि (hi) - indeed; असि (asi) - you are; भार्गव (bhārgava) - Bhārgava (descendant of Bhṛgu);]
(Hear from me in detail this which I shall say, O son of Bhṛgu. Accept kindness and also, indeed, you are an ascetic, O Bhārgava.)
O Bhṛgu's son, hear from me in detail what I am about to say. Accept my kindness also, for you are indeed an ascetic, O Bhārgava. (14-52-23)
श्रुत्वा त्वमेतदध्यात्मं मुञ्चेथाः शापमद्य वै। न च मां तपसाल्पेन शक्तोऽभिभवितुं पुमान् ॥१४-५२-२४॥
śrutvā tvam etad adhyātmaṃ muñcethāḥ śāpam adya vai। na ca māṃ tapasālpena śakto'bhibhavituṃ pumān ॥14-52-24॥
[श्रुत्वा (śrutvā) - having heard; त्वम् (tvam) - you; एतद् (etad) - this; अध्यात्मम् (adhyātmaṃ) - spiritual teaching; मुञ्चेथाः (muñcethāḥ) - may you release; शापम् (śāpam) - curse; अद्य (adya) - today; वै (vai) - indeed; न (na) - not; च (ca) - and; माम् (mām) - me; तपसाल्पेन (tapasālpena) - by insufficient austerity; शक्तः (śaktaḥ) - able; अभिभवितुम् (abhibhavitum) - to overpower; पुमान् (pumān) - a man;]
(Having heard, you, this spiritual teaching, may you release the curse today indeed. Not and me by insufficient austerity is able to overpower a man.)
Having heard this spiritual instruction, may you release the curse today indeed. And no man is able to overpower me by insufficient austerity. (14-52-24)
न च ते तपसो नाशमिच्छामि जपतां वर। तपस्ते सुमहद्दीप्तं गुरवश्चापि तोषिताः ॥१४-५२-२५॥
na ca te tapaso nāśam icchāmi japatāṃ vara। tapas te sumahad dīptam guravaś cāpi toṣitāḥ॥14-52-25॥
[न (na) - not; च (ca) - and; ते (te) - your; तपसः (tapasaḥ) - of austerity; नाशम् (nāśam) - destruction; इच्छामि (icchāmi) - I desire; जपताम् (japatām) - of those who recite; वर (vara) - best; तपः (tapaḥ) - austerity; ते (te) - your; सुमहत् (sumahat) - very great; दीप्तम् (dīptam) - radiant; गुरवः (guravaḥ) - teachers; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; तोषिताः (toṣitāḥ) - are satisfied;]
(And for your austerity not destruction I desire, O best of the reciters. Your austerity is very great, radiant, and the teachers also are satisfied.)
And I do not wish your austerities to be destroyed, O best among reciters. Your austerity is exceedingly great and radiant, and your teachers too are satisfied. (14-52-25)
कौमारं ब्रह्मचर्यं ते जानामि द्विजसत्तम। दुःखार्जितस्य तपसस्तस्मान्नेच्छामि ते व्ययम् ॥१४-५२-२६॥
kaumāraṃ brahmacaryaṃ te jānāmi dvijasattama। duḥkhārjitasya tapasas tasmān neccāmi te vyayam॥14-52-26॥
[कौमारं (kaumāram) - belonging to youth; ब्रह्मचर्यं (brahmacaryam) - celibacy; ते (te) - your; जानामि (jānāmi) - I know; द्विजसत्तम (dvijasattama) - best of the twice-born; दुःखार्जितस्य (duḥkhārjitasya) - hardly-earned; तपसः (tapasah) - of penance; तस्मात् (tasmāt) - therefore; न (na) - not; इच्छामि (icchāmi) - I wish; ते (te) - your; व्ययम् (vyayam) - loss;]
(I know your celibacy of youth, best of the twice-born. Therefore, I do not wish your loss of the hardly-earned penance.)
Best of the twice-born, I am aware of your youthful celibacy. Therefore, I do not wish for you to lose the penance you have attained through great hardship. (14-52-26)
