एवं ते पुरुषव्याघ्राः पाण्डवा मातृनन्दनाः। स्मरन्तो मातरं वीरा बभूवुर्भृशदुःखिताः ॥१५-२९-१॥
evaṃ te puruṣavyāghrāḥ pāṇḍavā mātṛ-nandanāḥ। smaranto mātaraṃ vīrā babhūvur bhṛśa-duḥkhitāḥ॥15-29-1॥
[एवं (evaṃ) - thus; ते (te) - they; पुरुषव्याघ्राः (puruṣavyāghrāḥ) - tigers among men; पाण्डवाः (pāṇḍavāḥ) - Pāṇḍavas; मातृनन्दनाः (mātṛ-nandanāḥ) - delighters of their mother; स्मरन्तः (smarantaḥ) - remembering; मातरम् (mātaram) - their mother; वीराः (vīrāḥ) - heroes; बभूवुः (babhūvuḥ) - became; भृशदुःखिताः (bhṛśa-duḥkhitāḥ) - very distressed;]
(Thus they, tigers among men, the Pāṇḍavas, delighters of their mother, remembering their mother, the heroes became very distressed.)
Thus the Pāṇḍavas, tigers among men and loved by their mother, remembering their mother, became deeply distressed. (15-29-1)
ये राजकार्येषु पुरा व्यासक्ता नित्यशोऽभवन्। ते राजकार्याणि तदा नाकार्षुः सर्वतः पुरे ॥१५-२९-२॥
ye rājakāryeṣu purā vyāsaktā nityaśo'bhavan। te rājakāryāṇi tadā nākārṣuḥ sarvataḥ pure ॥15-29-2॥
[ये (ye) - who (those); राजकार्येषु (rājakāryeṣu) - in royal duties; पुरा (purā) - formerly; व्यासक्ता (vyāsaktā) - absorbed; नित्यशः (nityaśaḥ) - continually; अभवन् (abhavan) - were; ते (te) - they; राजकार्याणि (rājakāryāṇi) - royal duties; तदा (tadā) - then; न (na) - not; अकार्षुः (akārṣuḥ) - performed; सर्वतः (sarvataḥ) - in every way; पुरे (pure) - in the city;]
(Who in royal duties formerly absorbed continually were; they royal duties then not performed in every way in the city.)
Those who were previously always absorbed in royal duties did not perform royal duties at all in the city at that time. (15-29-2)
आविष्टा इव शोकेन नाभ्यनन्दन्त किञ्चन। सम्भाष्यमाणा अपि ते न किञ्चित्प्रत्यपूजयन् ॥१५-२९-३॥
āviṣṭā iva śokena nābhyanandanta kiñcana। sambhāṣyamāṇā api te na kiñcit pratyapūjayan॥15-29-3॥
[आविष्टा (āviṣṭā) - overcome; इव (iva) - as if; शोकेन (śokena) - by grief; न (na) - not; अभ्यनन्दन्त (abhyanandanta) - rejoiced; किञ्चन (kiñcana) - at all; सम्भाष्यमाणा (sambhāṣyamāṇā) - when addressed; अपि (api) - even; ते (te) - they; न (na) - not; किञ्चित् (kiñcit) - anything; प्रत्यपूजयन् (pratyapūjayan) - replied;]
(Overcome as if by grief, they did not rejoice at all; even when addressed, they did not reply anything.)
As if overcome by grief, they did not rejoice at all; even when spoken to, they gave no reply. (15-29-3)
ते स्म वीरा दुराधर्षा गाम्भीर्ये सागरोपमाः। शोकोपहतविज्ञाना नष्टसञ्ज्ञा इवाभवन् ॥१५-२९-४॥
te sma vīrā durādharṣā gāmbhīrye sāgaropamāḥ। śokopahatavijñānā naṣṭasaṃjñā ivābhavan ॥15-29-4॥
[ते (te) - they; स्म (sma) - indeed; वीरा (vīrāḥ) - heroes; दुराधर्षा (durādharṣāḥ) - difficult to overcome; गाम्भीर्ये (gāmbhīrye) - in depth; सागरोपमाः (sāgaropamāḥ) - like the ocean; शोकोपहतविज्ञाना (śokopahatavijñānāḥ) - whose intelligence was afflicted by grief; नष्टसञ्ज्ञा (naṣṭasaṃjñāḥ) - whose consciousness was lost; इव (iva) - as if; अभवन् (abhavan) - became;]
(They indeed, heroes, difficult to overcome, in depth like the ocean, whose intelligence was afflicted by grief, whose consciousness was lost, as if became.)
Those heroes, who were difficult to overcome and deep like the ocean, indeed became as if their intelligence was afflicted by grief and their consciousness lost. (15-29-4)
अनुस्मरन्तो जननीं ततस्ते कुरुनन्दनाः। कथं नु वृद्धमिथुनं वहत्यद्य पृथा कृशा ॥१५-२९-५॥
anusmaranto jananīṁ tataste kurunandanāḥ। kathaṁ nu vṛddhamithunaṁ vahatyadya pṛthā kṛśā ॥15-29-5॥
[अनुस्मरन्तः (anusmarantaḥ) - remembering; जननीम् (jananīm) - mother; ततः (tataḥ) - then; ते (te) - they; कुरुनन्दनाः (kurunandanāḥ) - descendants of Kuru; कथम् (katham) - how; नु (nu) - indeed; वृद्धमिथुनम् (vṛddhamithunam) - aged couple; वहति (vahati) - carries; अद्य (adya) - today; पृथा (pṛthā) - Pṛthā; कृशा (kṛśā) - emaciated;]
(Remembering mother, then they, O descendants of Kuru; how indeed emaciated Pṛthā today carries the aged couple?)
Then, as they remembered their mother, the descendants of Kuru wondered: 'How does the emaciated Pṛthā carry the aged couple today?' (15-29-5)
कथं च स महीपालो हतपुत्रो निराश्रयः। पत्न्या सह वसत्येको वने श्वापदसेविते ॥१५-२९-६॥
kathaṁ ca sa mahīpālo hataputro nirāśrayaḥ। patnyā saha vasatyeko vane śvāpadasevite ॥15-29-6॥

(How and he king whose son is slain devoid of support with wife together dwells alone in the forest frequented by wild beasts.)
How does that king, whose son was slain and who is without support, live alone with his wife in a forest inhabited by wild beasts? (15-29-6)
सा च देवी महाभागा गान्धारी हतबान्धवा। पतिमन्धं कथं वृद्धमन्वेति विजने वने ॥१५-२९-७॥
sā ca devī mahābhāgā gāndhārī hatabāndhavā। patim andhaṃ kathaṃ vṛddham anveti vijane vane ॥15-29-7॥
[सा (sā) - she; च (ca) - and; देवी (devī) - noble lady; महाभागा (mahābhāgā) - greatly fortunate; गान्धारी (gāndhārī) - Gandhari; हतबान्धवा (hatabāndhavā) - her relatives slain; पतिम् (patim) - her husband; अन्धं (andham) - blind; कथं (kathaṃ) - how; वृद्धम् (vṛddham) - aged; अन्वेति (anveti) - follows; विजने (vijane) - in solitude; वने (vane) - in the forest;]
(She and the noble lady, greatly fortunate Gandhari, her relatives slain, her husband blind and aged, how follows in solitude in the forest?)
That noble and greatly fortunate lady Gandhari, whose relatives are slain, how does she follow her aged and blind husband in the solitude of the forest? (15-29-7)
एवं तेषां कथयतामौत्सुक्यमभवत्तदा। गमने चाभवद्बुद्धिर्धृतराष्ट्रदिदृक्षया ॥१५-२९-८॥
evaṁ teṣāṁ kathayatām autsukyam abhavat tadā। gamane ca abhavat buddhiḥ dhṛtarāṣṭra-didṛkṣayā॥15-29-8॥
[एवं (evaṁ) - thus; तेषां (teṣām) - of them; कथयताम् (kathayatām) - of those speaking; औत्सुक्यम् (autsukyam) - curiosity; eagerness; अभवत् (abhavat) - arose; occurred; तदा (tadā) - then; गमने (gamane) - regarding going; about departure; च (ca) - and; अभवत् (abhavat) - arose; occurred; बुद्धिः (buddhiḥ) - thought; intention; धृतराष्ट्रदिदृक्षया (dhṛtarāṣṭra-didṛkṣayā) - with desire to see Dhritarashtra;]
(Thus, of them speaking, eagerness arose then. Regarding departure, also arose intention, with desire to see Dhritarashtra.)
Thus, as they were speaking, eagerness arose among them at that time. The intention to depart also arose, out of a desire to see Dhritarashtra. (15-29-8)
सहदेवस्तु राजानं प्रणिपत्येदमब्रवीत्। अहो मे भवतो दृष्टं हृदयं गमनं प्रति ॥१५-२९-९॥
sahadevastu rājānaṃ praṇipatyedamabravīt। aho me bhavato dṛṣṭaṃ hṛdayaṃ gamanaṃ prati॥15-29-9॥
[सहदेवः (sahadevaḥ) - Sahadeva; (proper noun - name of a person); तु (tu) - but; however; राजानम् (rājānam) - the king; (accusative singular of rājān - king); प्रणिपत्य (praṇipatya) - having bowed down; after bowing; इदम् (idam) - this; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - said; spoke; अहो (aho) - indeed; oh; मे (me) - my; to me; भवतः (bhavataḥ) - your; of you; दृष्टं (dṛṣṭam) - seen; (past participle of dṛś); हृदयं (hṛdayam) - heart; गमनं (gamanaṃ) - going; departure; प्रति (prati) - towards; in regard to;]
(But Sahadeva, having bowed to the king, said this: "Indeed, to me, your heart is seen toward departure." (15-29-9))
But Sahadeva bowed to the king and said: "Indeed, I see your heart is set on departing." (15-29-9)
न हि त्वा गौरवेणाहमशकं वक्तुमात्मना। गमनं प्रति राजेन्द्र तदिदं समुपस्थितम् ॥१५-२९-१०॥
na hi tvā gauraveṇa aham aśakaṃ vaktum ātmanā। gamanam prati rājendra tat idaṃ samupasthitam ॥15-29-10॥
[न (na) - not; हि (hi) - indeed; त्वा (tvā) - you; गौरवेण (gauraveṇa) - out of respect; अहम् (aham) - I; अशकं (aśakaṃ) - was not able; वक्तुम् (vaktum) - to speak; आत्मना (ātmanā) - by myself; गमनं (gamanam) - departure; प्रति (prati) - regarding; राजेन्द्र (rājendra) - O king; तत् (tat) - that; इदं (idaṃ) - this; समुपस्थितम् (samupasthitam) - has arrived;]
(Indeed, not out of respect for you, I was able to speak by myself regarding the departure, O king; that this has now arrived.)
O king, indeed, it was out of respect for you that I was not able to personally speak about the departure; now this has arrived. (15-29-10)
दिष्ट्या द्रक्ष्यामि तां कुन्तीं वर्तयन्तीं तपस्विनीम्। जटिलां तापसीं वृद्धां कुशकाशपरिक्षताम् ॥१५-२९-११॥
diṣṭyā drakṣyāmi tāṃ kuntīṃ vartayantīṃ tapasvinīm। jaṭilāṃ tāpasīṃ vṛddhāṃ kuśakāśa-parikṣatām॥15-29-11॥
[दिष्ट्या (diṣṭyā) - by fortune; by good luck; द्रक्ष्यामि (drakṣyāmi) - I shall see; तां (tāṃ) - that; कुन्तीं (kuntīm) - Kuntī (proper noun); वर्तयन्तीं (vartayantīm) - making go on; continuing; तपस्विनीम् (tapasvinīm) - ascetic woman; जटिलां (jaṭilāṃ) - matted-haired; तापसीं (tāpasīm) - female ascetic; वृद्धां (vṛddhāṃ) - old; कुशकाशपरिक्षताम् (kuśakāśa-parikṣatām) - worn by kusa (grass) and kāśa (reeds); ॥१५-२९-११॥ (॥15-29-11॥) - ;]
(By fortune I shall see that Kuntī, continuing as an ascetic woman, matted-haired, a female ascetic, old, worn by kusa and kāśa grasses.)
By good fortune, I shall see that Kuntī, persevering as an ascetic woman, with matted hair, aged, a female ascetic worn by kusa and kāśa grasses. (15-29-11)
प्रासादहर्म्यसंवृद्धामत्यन्तसुखभागिनीम्। कदा नु जननीं श्रान्तां द्रक्ष्यामि भृशदुःखिताम् ॥१५-२९-१२॥
prāsādaharmyasaṁvṛddhām atyantasukhabhāginīm। kadā nu jananīṁ śrāntāṁ drakṣyāmi bhṛśaduḥkhitām॥15-29-12॥
[प्रासादहर्म्यसंवृद्धाम् (prāsādaharmyasaṁvṛddhām) - grown up in palaces; अत्यन्तसुखभागिनीम् (atyantasukhabhāginīm) - especially partaking of happiness; कदा (kadā) - when; नु (nu) - indeed; जननीम् (jananīm) - mother; श्रान्ताम् (śrāntām) - tired; द्रक्ष्यामि (drakṣyāmi) - shall I see; भृशदुःखिताम् (bhṛśaduḥkhitām) - exceedingly distressed;]
(Grown up in palaces, especially partaking of happiness, when indeed my mother, tired, shall I see (her) exceedingly distressed?)
When shall I see my mother, who grew up in palaces, who was always happy, now tired and greatly distressed? (15-29-12)
अनित्याः खलु मर्त्यानां गतयो भरतर्षभ। कुन्ती राजसुता यत्र वसत्यसुखिनी वने ॥१५-२९-१३॥
anityāḥ khalu martyānāṃ gatayo bharatarṣabha। kuntī rājasutā yatra vasatyasukhinī vane ॥15-29-13॥
[अनित्याः (anityāḥ) - impermanent; खलु (khalu) - indeed; मर्त्यानाम् (martyānām) - of mortals; गतयः (gatayaḥ) - courses; भरतर्षभ (bharatarṣabha) - O best of the Bharatas; कुन्ती (kuntī) - Kuntī; राजसुता (rājasutā) - princess; यत्र (yatra) - where; वसति (vasati) - dwells; असुखिनी (asukhinī) - unhappy; वने (vane) - in the forest;]
(Impermanent indeed are the courses of mortals, O best of the Bharatas; Kuntī, the princess, where dwells unhappy in the forest.)
The ways of mortals are indeed impermanent, O best of the Bharatas; Kuntī, the royal princess, is living unhappily in the forest. (15-29-13)
सहदेववचः श्रुत्वा द्रौपदी योषितां वरा। उवाच देवी राजानमभिपूज्याभिनन्द्य च ॥१५-२९-१४॥
sahadevavacaḥ śrutvā draupadī yoṣitāṃ varā। uvāca devī rājānam abhipūjyābhinandya ca ॥15-29-14॥
[सहदेववचः (sahadevavacaḥ) - Sahadeva's words; श्रुत्वा (śrutvā) - having heard; द्रौपदी (draupadī) - Draupadī; योषितां (yoṣitām) - of women; वरा (varā) - chief; best; उवाच (uvāca) - said; देवी (devī) - the goddess; lady; राजानम् (rājānam) - to the king; अभिपूज्य (abhipūjya) - having duly honored; अभिनन्द्य (abhinandya) - having greeted; च (ca) - and;]
(Having heard Sahadeva's words, Draupadī, chief of women, having duly honored and greeted the king, the lady said.)
Hearing Sahadeva's words, Draupadī, the foremost among women, respectfully honored and greeted the king, and then the lady spoke. (15-29-14)
कदा द्रक्ष्यामि तां देवीं यदि जीवति सा पृथा। जीवन्त्या ह्यद्य नः प्रीतिर्भविष्यति नराधिप ॥१५-२९-१५॥
kadā drakṣyāmi tāṃ devīṃ yadi jīvati sā pṛthā। jīvantyā hyadya naḥ prītirbhaviṣyati narādhipa ॥15-29-15॥
[कदा (kadā) - when; द्रक्ष्यामि (drakṣyāmi) - shall I see; तां (tāṃ) - her; देवीं (devīṃ) - divine lady; यदि (yadi) - if; जीवति (jīvati) - lives; सा (sā) - she; पृथा (pṛthā) - Pṛthā; जीवन्त्या (jīvantyā) - by the living (one); हि (hi) - indeed; अद्य (adya) - today; नः (naḥ) - our; प्रीति (prīti) - joy; भविष्यति (bhaviṣyati) - will be; नराधिप (narādhipa) - O ruler of men;]
(When shall I see that divine lady? If she, Pṛthā, lives, indeed by the living one today our joy will be, O ruler of men.)
When shall I see that divine lady? If she, Pṛthā, is alive, our joy will indeed be today through her, O ruler of men. (15-29-15)
एषा तेऽस्तु मतिर्नित्यं धर्मे ते रमतां मनः। योऽद्य त्वमस्मान्राजेन्द्र श्रेयसा योजयिष्यसि ॥१५-२९-१६॥
eṣā te'stu matir nityaṃ dharme te ramatāṃ manaḥ। yo'dya tvam asmān rājendra śreyasā yojayiṣyasi॥15-29-16॥
[एषा (eṣā) - this; ते (te) - your; अस्तु (astu) - let there be; मतिः (matiḥ) - mind; नित्यं (nityaṃ) - always; धर्मे (dharme) - in dharma; ते (te) - your; रमताम् (ramatām) - may be delighted; मनः (manaḥ) - mind; यः (yaḥ) - who; अद्य (adya) - today; त्वम् (tvam) - you; अस्मान् (asmān) - us; राजेन्द्र (rājendra) - O king; श्रेयसा (śreyasā) - with welfare; योजयिष्यसि (yojayiṣyasi) - will join;]
(This your mind let there be always in dharma, your mind may be delighted. Who today you us, O king, with welfare will join.)
Let this be your constant resolve—may your mind always delight in dharma. Today, O king, you will unite us with what is auspicious. (15-29-16)
अग्रपादस्थितं चेमं विद्धि राजन्वधूजनम्। काङ्क्षन्तं दर्शनं कुन्त्या गान्धार्याः श्वशुरस्य च ॥१५-२९-१७॥
agrapādasthitaṃ cemaṃ viddhi rājanvadhūjanam। kāṅkṣantaṃ darśanaṃ kuntyā gāndhāryāḥ śvaśurasya ca ॥15-29-17॥
[अग्रपादस्थितं (agrapādasthitam) - standing at the fore; (agrapāda - front foot, sthita - standing;) च (ca) - and; इमं (imaṃ) - this; विद्धि (viddhi) - know; राजन् (rājan) - O king; वधूजनम् (vadhūjanam) - the women (brides) of the family; काङ्क्षन्तं (kāṅkṣantam) - desiring; दर्शनम् (darśanam) - sight (meeting); कुन्त्या (kuntyā) - by Kuntī; गान्धार्याः (gāndhāryāḥ) - of Gāndhārī; श्वशुरस्य (śvaśurasya) - of (the) father-in-law; च (ca) - and;]
(Standing at the fore and this, know O king the women of the family; desiring sight by Kuntī, of Gāndhārī, of (the) father-in-law and.)
O king, know these women standing at the front as the family’s women, desiring to see Kuntī, Gāndhārī, and their father-in-law. (15-29-17)
इत्युक्तः स नृपो देव्या पाञ्चाल्या भरतर्षभ। सेनाध्यक्षान्समानाय्य सर्वानिदमथाब्रवीत् ॥१५-२९-१८॥
ityuktaḥ sa nṛpo devyā pāñcālyā bharatarṣabha। senādhyakṣān samānāyya sarvān idam athābravīt ॥15-29-18॥
[इति (iti) - thus; उक्तः (uktaḥ) - having been addressed; स (sa) - he; नृपः (nṛpaḥ) - king; देव्या (devyā) - by the queen; पाञ्चाल्या (pāñcālyā) - by Pāñcālī; भरतर्षभ (bharatarṣabha) - O bull among the Bharatas; सेनाध्यक्षान् (senādhyakṣān) - the generals; समानाय्य (samānāyya) - having summoned; सर्वान् (sarvān) - all; इदम् (idam) - this; अथ (atha) - then; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - he said;]
(Thus having been addressed, he, the king, by the queen, by Pāñcālī, O bull among the Bharatas, the generals having summoned all, this then he said.)
O bull among the Bharatas, thus addressed by the queen Pāñcālī, the king then summoned all the generals and spoke as follows. (15-29-18)
निर्यातयत मे सेनां प्रभूतरथकुञ्जराम्। द्रक्ष्यामि वनसंस्थं च धृतराष्ट्रं महीपतिम् ॥१५-२९-१९॥
niryātayata me senāṃ prabhūtarathakuñjarām। drakṣyāmi vanasaṃsthaṃ ca dhṛtarāṣṭraṃ mahīpatim ॥15-29-19॥
[निर्यातयत (niryātayata) - send out; (imperative, 2nd person plural); मे (me) - my; (genitive singular pronoun); सेनां (senāṃ) - army; (accusative singular); प्रभूतरथकुञ्जराम् (prabhūtarathakuñjarām) - abounding in chariots and elephants; (accusative singular, compound); द्रक्ष्यामि (drakṣyāmi) - I shall see; वनसंस्थं (vanasaṃstham) - dwelling in the forest; च (ca) - and; धृतराष्ट्रं (dhṛtarāṣṭram) - Dhritarashtra; (proper noun, accusative singular); महीपतिम् (mahīpatim) - king; (accusative singular);]
(Send out my army abounding in chariots and elephants. I shall see the king Dhritarashtra dwelling in the forest also.)
Send forth my army, which is rich in chariots and elephants. I will also see King Dhritarashtra residing in the forest. (15-29-19)
स्त्र्यध्यक्षांश्चाब्रवीद्राजा यानानि विविधानि मे। सज्जीक्रियन्तां सर्वाणि शिबिकाश्च सहस्रशः ॥१५-२९-२०॥
stryadhyakṣāṁścābravīdrājā yānāni vividhāni me। sajjīkriyantāṁ sarvāṇi śibikāśca sahasraśaḥ ॥15-29-20॥
[स्त्र्यध्यक्षान् (strī-adhyakṣān) - women-superintendents; च (ca) - and; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - he said; राजा (rājā) - the king; यानानि (yānāni) - vehicles; विविधानि (vividhāni) - various; मे (me) - my; सज्जीक्रियन्ताम् (sajjīkriyantām) - let them be prepared; सर्वाणि (sarvāṇi) - all; शिबिकाः (śibikāḥ) - palanquins; च (ca) - and; सहस्रशः (sahasraśaḥ) - by the thousands;]
(Women-superintendents and said the king, vehicles various my, let them be prepared, all, palanquins and by the thousands.)
The king said to the women-superintendents, "Let all my various vehicles be prepared, and palanquins by the thousands as well." (15-29-20)
शकटापणवेशाश्च कोशशिल्पिन एव च। निर्यान्तु कोशपालाश्च कुरुक्षेत्राश्रमं प्रति ॥१५-२९-२१॥
śaṭakāpaṇaveśāś ca kośaśilpina eva ca। niryāntu kośapālāś ca kurukṣetrāśramaṃ prati॥15-29-21॥
[शकटापणवेशाः (śaṭakāpaṇaveśāḥ) - those with the appearance of cart, shop, and booth; च (ca) - and; कोशशिल्पिनः (kośaśilpinaḥ) - treasury artificers; एव (eva) - indeed; च (ca) - and; निर्यान्तु (niryāntu) - let them go forth; कोशपालाः (kośapālāḥ) - treasury guards; च (ca) - and; कुरुक्षेत्राश्रमम् (kurukṣetrāśramam) - to the hermitage of Kurukṣetra; प्रति (prati) - towards, to;]
(Those with the appearance of cart, shop, and booth and the treasury artificers indeed and let the treasury guards also go forth to the hermitage of Kurukṣetra.)
Let those who appear as cart-drivers, shopkeepers, and booth-holders, as well as the treasury artificers and also the treasury guards, proceed to the hermitage of Kurukṣetra. (15-29-21)
यश्च पौरजनः कश्चिद्द्रष्टुमिच्छति पार्थिवम्। अनावृतः सुविहितः स च यातु सुरक्षितः ॥१५-२९-२२॥
yaś ca paurajanaḥ kaścid draṣṭum icchati pārthivam। anāvṛtaḥ suvihitaḥ sa ca yātu surakṣitaḥ॥15-29-22॥
[यः (yaḥ) - who; च (ca) - and; पौरजनः (paurajanaḥ) - townsman; कश्चित् (kaścit) - anyone; द्रष्टुम् (draṣṭum) - to see; इच्छति (icchati) - desires; पार्थिवम् (pārthivam) - the king; अनावृतः (anāvṛtaḥ) - uncovered; सुविहितः (suvihitaḥ) - well-arranged; स (sa) - he; च (ca) - and; यातु (yātu) - may go; सुरक्षितः (surakṣitaḥ) - protected;]
(And any townsman who desires to see the king, uncovered (with his face), well-arranged, he also may go, protected.)
Any townsman who wishes to see the king, if he is properly dressed and uncovered, may also go, provided he is protected. (15-29-22)
सूदाः पौरोगवाश्चैव सर्वं चैव महानसम्। विविधं भक्ष्यभोज्यं च शकटैरुह्यतां मम ॥१५-२९-२३॥
sūdāḥ paurogavāś caiva sarvaṃ caiva mahānasam। vividhaṃ bhakṣyabhojyaṃ ca śakaṭair uhyatāṃ mama ॥15-29-23॥
[सूदाः (sūdāḥ) - cooks; पौरोगवाः (paurogavāḥ) - priestly officials; चैव (caiva) - and also; सर्वं (sarvaṃ) - all; चैव (caiva) - and also; महानसम् (mahānasam) - kitchen; विविधं (vividhaṃ) - various; भक्ष्यभोज्यं (bhakṣyabhojyaṃ) - food to be eaten and enjoyed; च (ca) - and; शकटैः (śakaṭaiḥ) - by carts; उह्यतां (uhyatāṃ) - let it be carried; मम (mama) - for me;]
(Cooks, priestly officials and also all the kitchen, various food to be eaten and enjoyed, and let it be carried by carts for me.)
Let the cooks, the ceremonial priests, and all the kitchen equipment, along with various foods to be eaten and enjoyed, be transported by carts for me. (15-29-23)
प्रयाणं घुष्यतां चैव श्वोभूत इति मा चिरम्। क्रियन्तां पथि चाप्यद्य वेश्मानि विविधानि च ॥१५-२९-२४॥
prayāṇaṃ ghuṣyatāṃ caiva śvobhūta iti mā ciram। kriyantāṃ pathi cāpyadya veśmāni vividhāni ca ॥15-29-24॥
[प्रयाणं (prayāṇam) - departure; घुष्यतां (ghuṣyatām) - let it be proclaimed; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; श्वोभूत (śvobhūta) - having tomorrow as the occasion; इति (iti) - thus; मा (mā) - not; चिरम् (ciram) - delay; क्रियन्तां (kriyantām) - let them be made; पथि (pathi) - on the path; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; अद्य (adya) - today; वेश्मानि (veśmāni) - dwellings; विविधानि (vividhāni) - various; च (ca) - and;]
(Let the departure be proclaimed indeed, "the journey is for tomorrow"—do not delay. Let various dwellings also be made on the path today.)

एवमाज्ञाप्य राजा स भ्रातृभिः सह पाण्डवः। श्वोभूते निर्ययौ राजा सस्त्रीबालपुरस्कृतः ॥१५-२९-२५॥
evam-ājñāpya rājā sa bhrātṛbhiḥ saha pāṇḍavaḥ। śvobhūte niryayau rājā sa-strī-bāla-puraskṛtaḥ ॥15-29-25॥
[एवम् (evam) - thus; आज्ञाप्य (ājñāpya) - having ordered; राजा (rājā) - the king; स (sa) - he; भ्रातृभिः (bhrātṛbhiḥ) - with the brothers; सह (saha) - together; with; पाण्डवः (pāṇḍavaḥ) - the Pāṇḍava; श्वोभूते (śvobhūte) - when the next day had come; निर्ययौ (niryayau) - set out; departed; राजा (rājā) - the king; सस्त्रीबालपुरस्कृतः (sa-strī-bāla-puraskṛtaḥ) - with women and children having been placed at the front;]
(Thus, having ordered, the king, he, with the brothers together, the Pāṇḍava; when the next day had come, set out, the king, with women and children in front.)
Thus, having given the orders, that king, the Pāṇḍava, together with his brothers, when the next day arrived, set out with women and children at the forefront. (15-29-25)
स बहिर्दिवसानेवं जनौघं परिपालयन्। न्यवसन्नृपतिः पञ्च ततोऽगच्छद्वनं प्रति ॥१५-२९-२६॥
sa bahirdivasānevaṁ janaughaṁ paripālayan। nyavasan nṛpatiḥ pañca tato'gacchad vanaṁ prati॥15-29-26॥
[स (sa) - he; बहि: (bahir) - outside; दिवसान् (divasān) - days (accusative plural); एवं (evaṁ) - thus; जनौघम् (janaugham) - multitude of people; परिपालयन् (paripālayan) - protecting; न्यवसत् (nyavasat) - he dwelled; नृपतिः (nṛpatiḥ) - the king; पञ्च (pañca) - five; ततः (tataḥ) - then; अगच्छत् (agacchat) - he went; वनम् (vanam) - to the forest; प्रति (prati) - towards;]
(He, outside, days thus, the multitude of people protecting, the king dwelled; five then, he went towards the forest.)
Thus, the king dwelled outside, protecting the multitude of people for five days; then he went towards the forest. (15-29-26)
