Karika 11
त्रिगुणमविवेकि विषयः सामान्यमचेतनं प्रसवधर्मि। व्यक्तं तथा प्रधानं तद्विपरीतस्तथा च पुमान् ॥११॥
triguṇamavivēki viṣayaḥ sāmānyamacētanaṁ prasavadharmi। vyaktaṁ tathā pradhānaṁ tadviparītastathā ca pumān ॥11॥
[त्रि गुणम् अविवेकि विषयः सामान्यम् अचेतनं प्रसव धर्मि। व्यक्तं तथा प्रधानं तत् विपरीतः तथा च पुमान्॥
tri guṇam = three qualities (satwa, rajus, and tamas); avivēki = no discriminative knowledge; viṣayaḥ = on topics; sāmānyam = is common; acētanaṁ = is without spirit; prasava = bing born; dharmi = as per their dharma; vyaktaṁ = the manifest; tathā = from; pradhānaṁ = primary principle / unmanifest prakriti; tat = it's; viparītaḥ = extreme opposite; tathā = so / on the contrary; ca pumān = is Purusha;]
The manifest has three qualities (satwa, rajas, tamas), has no discriminative knowledge of the topics, is common, without spirit, and being born according to their nature (dharma) from primary principle (pradhana). Its extreme opposite is the 'Purusha'.
