[उभय आत्मकम् अत्र मनः सङ्कल्पकम् इन्द्रियं च सा धर्म्यात्। गुण परिणाम विशेषात् नानात्वं बाह्य भेदः च॥
ubhaya = both; ātmakam = nature; atra = exists; manaḥ = in the mind; saṅkalpakam = of determination; indriyaṁ = it is indria; ca = hence / and; sā dharmyāt = as per their dharma; guṇa = qualities; pariṇāma = effects of; viśēṣāt = special; nānātvaṁ = manyfold variations; bāhya = external appearance; bhēdaḥ = differences in; ca = as well;]
Both the nature exists in the mind (to sense and to act), hence it is the Indriya of determination (saṅkalpakam indriyaṁ). Special effects of qualities (satwa, rajas, tamas) as per their dharma results in many fold variations, as well as differences in the external appearance.
