Karika 34
बुद्धीन्द्रियाणि तेषां पञ्च विशेषाविशेषविषयाणि। वाग्भवति शब्दविषया शेषाणि तु पञ्चविषयाणि ॥३४॥
buddhīndriyāṇi tēṣāṁ pañca viśēṣāviśēṣaviṣayāṇi। vāgbhavati śabdaviṣayā śēṣāṇi tu pañcaviṣayāṇi ॥34॥
[बुद्धिः इन्द्रियाणि तेषां पञ्च विशेष अविशेष विषयाणि। वाक् भवति शब्द विषया शेषाणि तु पञ्च विषयाणि॥
buddhiḥ = intelligent; indriyāṇi = indriyas; tēṣāṁ = of these; pañca = five; viśēṣa = special; aviśēṣa = not so special; viṣayāṇi = subjects; vāk = speech; bhavati = becomes; śabda = sound; viṣayā = from topics; śēṣāṇi = remaining; tu = therefore; pañca = five; viṣayāṇi = topics/subjects;]
Activities of the five senses result in special and not so special subjects. Speech becomes sound, and similarly the remaining, resulting in five types of subjects.
Five types of subjects for senses are sound, form, taste, touch, and smell.
