ityēṣaḥ prakr̥tikr̥tō mahadādiviśēṣabhūtaparyantaḥ। pratipuruṣavimōkṣārthaṁ svārthaiva parārthārambhaḥ ॥56॥
[इति एषः प्रकृति कृतो महत् आदि विशेष भूत पर्यन्तः। प्रति पुरुष विमोक्षार्थं स्वार्थ इव परार्थ आरम्भः॥
iti = thus; ēṣaḥ = this; prakr̥ti = prakruthi; kr̥tō = created by; mahat = mahat; ādi = and others; viśēṣa = special; bhūta = elements; paryantaḥ = all encompassing; prati = each; puruṣa = purusha / being;vimōkṣārthaṁ = for the sake of liberation; svārtha iva = though appearing as self-interest; parārtha = for others sake; ārambhaḥ = from the beginning;]
Thus, the prakriti, the material cause, creates mahat, the ego, and other special elements for the sake of liberation of each purusha. Though it appears to start because of self-interest, it is for the sake of others.
