Vaisesika Sūtra 1.2.17

सदितिलिङ्गाविशेषाद्विशेषलिङ्गाभावाच्चैको भावः ॥१७॥

saditiliṅgāviśēṣādviśēṣaliṅgābhāvāccaikō bhāvaḥ ॥17॥

[सदिति लिङ्ग विशेषात् विशेषलिङ्गात् अभावाच्च एको भावः॥
saditi = 'Sat', the truth, are existence is; liṅga = gender / distinguishing mark; viśēṣāt = because of particularity; viśēṣaliṅgāt = from the specific gender/distinguishing mark; abhāvācca = also because of its absence; ēkō = one/same; bhāvaḥ = existence;॥]

'Sat', i.e. the reality, i.e. existence, is because of particularity as a distinguishing mark, the same existence is also because of the absence of particularity as a distinguishing mark.

इति द्वि तीय आह् निकः इति प्रथमोऽध्यायः

Thus ends the second chapter of the first section.
