Vaisesika Sūtra 6.2.04

भावदोष उपधाऽदोषोऽनुपधा ॥४॥

bhāvadoṣa upadhā'doṣo'nupadhā ॥4॥

[भाव (bhāva) - emotion; दोष (doṣa) - fault; उपधा (upadhā) - obstacle; अदोष (adoṣa) - without fault; अनुपधा (anupadhā) - not an obstacle;]

(Emotion fault, substitution not a fault, not substitution.)

An emotional fault is an obstacle; without the fault, it is not an obstacle.
