Vaisesika Sūtra 7.2.13

yuta-siddhi-abhāvāt kārya-kāraṇayoḥ saṁyoga-vibhāgau na vidyete ॥13॥

Due to the absence of combined existence between cause and effect, conjunction and disjunction of these do not exist.
