Pancharatra: Gandhari advises Duryodhana on Kingly dharma, and a surrender to Lord Krishna.

kṛṣṇasya vacanaṃ śrutvā dhṛtarāṣṭro janeśvaraḥ । viduraṃ sarvadharmajñaṃ tvaramāṇo'bhyabhāṣata ॥5-127-1॥

Upon hearing Krishna's words, King Dhritarashtra, in haste, spoke to Vidura, who is knowledgeable in all dharmas.
गच्छ तात महाप्राज्ञां गान्धारीं दीर्घदर्शिनीम् । आनयेह तया सार्धमनुनेष्यामि दुर्मतिम् ॥५-१२७-२॥

यदि सापि दुरात्मानं शमयेद्दुष्टचेतसम् । अपि कृष्णाय सुहृदस्तिष्ठेम वचने वयम् ॥५-१२७-३॥
yadi sāpi durātmānaṃ śamayedduṣṭacetasam । api kṛṣṇāya suhṛdastiṣṭhema vacane vayam ॥5-127-3॥

अपि लोभाभिभूतस्य पन्थानमनुदर्शयेत् । दुर्बुद्धेर्दुःसहायस्य समर्थं ब्रुवती वचः ॥५-१२७-४॥

(Also, one should show the path to the one overcome by greed, speaking capable words to the wicked and difficult companion.)
Even to someone who is overcome by greed, one should show the right path, speaking words that are capable of guiding even the wicked and those with difficult companions.
अपि नो व्यसनं घोरं दुर्योधनकृतं महत् । शमयेच्चिररात्राय योगक्षेमवदव्ययम् ॥५-१२७-५॥

आनयेह सुतं क्षिप्रं राज्यकामुकमातुरम् । न हि राज्यमशिष्टेन शक्यं धर्मार्थलोपिना ॥५-१२७-१०॥
ānayeha sutaṃ kṣipraṃ rājyakāmukamāturam । na hi rājyamaśiṣṭena śakyaṃ dharmārthalopinā ॥5-127-10॥

स एष काममन्युभ्यां प्रलब्धो मोहमास्थितः । अशक्योऽद्य त्वया राजन्विनिवर्तयितुं बलात् ॥५-१२७-१२॥
sa eṣa kāmamanyubhyāṃ pralabdho mohamāsthitaḥ । aśakyo'dya tvayā rājanvinivartayituṃ balāt ॥5-127-12॥

राज्यप्रदाने मूढस्य बालिशस्य दुरात्मनः । दुःसहायस्य लुब्धस्य धृतराष्ट्रोऽश्नुते फलम् ॥५-१२७-१३॥
rājyapradāne mūḍhasya bāliśasya durātmanaḥ । duḥsahāyasya lubdhasya dhṛtarāṣṭro'śnute phalam ॥5-127-13॥

(How indeed would a wise person overlook division in own people? Indeed, divided by own people, enemies will overpower you.)
How can a wise person ignore division among their own people? If you are divided by your own, enemies will surely overpower you.
या हि शक्या महाराज साम्ना दानेन वा पुनः । निस्तर्तुमापदः स्वेषु दण्डं कस्तत्र पातयेत् ॥५-१२७-१५॥
yā hi śakyā mahārāja sāmnā dānena vā punaḥ । nistartum āpadaḥ sveṣu daṇḍaṃ kastatra pātayet ॥5-127-15॥

(Who indeed, O great king, would inflict punishment on one's own, where it is possible to overcome difficulties by conciliation or by gifts again?)

शासनाद्धृतराष्ट्रस्य दुर्योधनममर्षणम् । मातुश्च वचनात्क्षत्ता सभां प्रावेशयत्पुनः ॥५-१२७-१६॥
śāsanāddhṛtarāṣṭrasya duryodhanamamarṣaṇam । mātuśca vacanātkṣattā sabhāṃ prāveśayatpunaḥ ॥5-127-16॥

(Having seen him, her son, entered and situated on the wrong path, reproaching, Gandhari said capable speech.)

दुर्योधन निबोधेदं वचनं मम पुत्रक । हितं ते सानुबन्धस्य तथायत्यां सुखोदयम् ॥५-१२७-१९॥
duryodhana nibodhedaṃ vacanaṃ mama putraka । hitaṃ te sānubandhasya tathāyatyāṃ sukhodayam ॥5-127-19॥

(Duryodhana, listen to this speech of mine, O son. It is beneficial to you and your allies, bringing happiness in the future.)
Duryodhana, my son, listen to my words. They are meant for your benefit and that of your allies, ensuring future happiness.
भीष्मस्य तु पितुश्चैव मम चापचितिः कृता । भवेद्द्रोणमुखानां च सुहृदां शाम्यता त्वया ॥५-१२७-२०॥
bhīṣmasya tu pituścaiva mama cāpacitiḥ kṛtā । bhaveddroṇamukhānāṃ ca suhṛdāṃ śāmyatā tvayā ॥5-127-20॥

(The honor of Bhishma, but also of my father and mine, has been done. It should be by you, by pacifying Drona and others, and the friends.)

(For the kingdom, O wise one, cannot indeed be obtained, protected, or enjoyed by one's own desire, O best of the Bharatas.)

(Indeed, by the glorious, self-possessed, wise ones who have conquered their senses, O dear one, conflict by the Pandavas would cause a downfall from great happiness.)

(Indeed, the kingdom, affection, and position are equal for the self-conquered among the Pandavas and you, but righteousness is superior to that.)
For those who have conquered themselves, the kingdom, affection, and position are the same among the Pandavas and you; however, righteousness is superior to all of these.
राजपिण्डभयादेते यदि हास्यन्ति जीवितम् । न हि शक्ष्यन्ति राजानं युधिष्ठिरमुदीक्षितुम् ॥५-१२७-५२॥
rājapiṇḍabhayādete yadi hāsyanti jīvitam । na hi śakṣyanti rājānaṃ yudhiṣṭhiramudīkṣitum ॥5-127-52॥
[राजपिण्ड (rājapiṇḍa) - fear of the king's punishment; भयात् (bhayāt) - from fear; एते (ete) - these; यदि (yadi) - if; हास्यन्ति (hāsyanti) - will abandon; जीवितम् (jīvitam) - life; न (na) - not; हि (hi) - indeed; शक्ष्यन्ति (śakṣyanti) - will be able; राजानम् (rājānam) - the king; युधिष्ठिरम् (yudhiṣṭhiram) - Yudhishthira; उदीक्षितुम् (udīkṣitum) - to face;]

na lobhādarthasam pattirnarāṇāmiha dṛśyate । tadalaṃ tāta lobhena praśāmya bharatarṣabha ॥5-127-53॥
[न (na) - not; लोभात् (lobhāt) - from greed; अर्थसम्पत्तिः (arthasam pattih) - wealth; नराणाम् (narāṇām) - of men; इह (iha) - here; दृश्यते (dṛśyate) - is seen; तत् (tad) - therefore; अलम् (alam) - enough; तात (tāta) - dear; लोभेन (lobhena) - with greed; प्रशाम्य (praśāmya) - be calm; भरतर्षभ (bharatarṣabha) - O best of the Bharatas;]
(Wealth is not seen here among men from greed. Therefore, dear, be calm with greed, O best of the Bharatas.)
Wealth does not come to men through greed. Therefore, dear one, let go of greed and be at peace, O best of the Bharatas.
