Pancharatra-Ext: Shikandin does penance and asks Yaksha the boon to convert her to him.

ततः शिखण्डिनो माता यथातत्त्वं नराधिप। आचचक्षे महाबाहो भर्त्रे कन्यां शिखण्डिनीम् ॥५-१९२-१॥
tataḥ śikhaṇḍino mātā yathātattvaṃ narādhipa। ācacakṣe mahābāho bhartre kanyāṃ śikhaṇḍinīm ॥5-192-1॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; शिखण्डिनः (śikhaṇḍinaḥ) - of Śikhaṇḍin; माता (mātā) - mother; यथातत्त्वम् (yathātattvam) - truly; नराधिप (narādhipa) - O king; आचचक्षे (ācacakṣe) - spoke; महाबाहो (mahābāho) - O mighty-armed one; भर्त्रे (bhartre) - to her husband; कन्यां (kanyām) - daughter; शिखण्डिनीम् (śikhaṇḍinīm) - Śikhaṇḍinī;]
(Then the mother of Śikhaṇḍin truly spoke to her husband, O king, O mighty-armed one, about the daughter Śikhaṇḍinī.)
Then, O mighty-armed king, the mother of Śikhaṇḍin revealed the truth about their daughter Śikhaṇḍinī to her husband.
अपुत्रया मया राजन्सपत्नीनां भयादिदम्। कन्या शिखण्डिनी जाता पुरुषो वै निवेदितः ॥५-१९२-२॥

(By the sonless me, O king, from fear of co-wives, this daughter Śikhaṇḍinī was born, indeed declared as a man.)
O king, because I was without a son and feared my co-wives, this daughter Śikhaṇḍinī was declared to be a man.
त्वया चैव नरश्रेष्ठ तन्मे प्रीत्यानुमोदितम्। पुत्रकर्म कृतं चैव कन्यायाः पार्थिवर्षभ ॥ भार्या चोढा त्वया राजन्दशार्णाधिपतेः सुता ॥५-१९२-३॥

(By you, O best of men, that was approved by me with affection. The duty of a son was done indeed for the daughter, O bull among kings. The wife, the daughter of the lord of the Daśārṇas, was married by you, O king.)
O best of men, you have affectionately approved my actions. The duty of a son was fulfilled for the daughter, O bull among kings. You married the daughter of the lord of the Daśārṇas, O king.
त्वया च प्रागभिहितं देववाक्यार्थदर्शनात्। कन्या भूत्वा पुमान्भावीत्येवं चैतदुपेक्षितम् ॥५-१९२-४॥
tvayā ca prāgabhihitaṁ devavākyārthadarśanāt। kanyā bhūtvā pumānbhāvītyevaṁ caitadupekṣitam ॥5-192-4॥
[त्वया (tvayā) - by you; च (ca) - and; प्राक् (prāk) - before; अभिहितं (abhihitaṁ) - said; देव (deva) - divine; वाक्य (vākya) - speech; अर्थ (artha) - meaning; दर्शनात् (darśanāt) - from the view; कन्या (kanyā) - girl; भूत्वा (bhūtvā) - becoming; पुमान् (pumān) - man; भावी (bhāvī) - will be; इति (iti) - thus; एवम् (evam) - in this way; च (ca) - and; एतत् (etat) - this; उपेक्षितम् (upekṣitam) - was ignored;]
(And by you, it was said before from the view of the meaning of the divine speech: 'A girl, becoming a man, will be thus', and this was ignored.)
You had previously mentioned, based on the interpretation of the divine words, that a girl would become a man, and this was overlooked.
एतच्छ्रुत्वा द्रुपदो यज्ञसेनः; सर्वं तत्त्वं मन्त्रविद्भ्यो निवेद्य। मन्त्रं राजा मन्त्रयामास राज; न्यद्यद्युक्तं रक्षणे वै प्रजानाम् ॥५-१९२-५॥
etacchrutvā drupado yajñasenaḥ; sarvaṃ tattvaṃ mantravidbhyo nivedya। mantraṃ rājā mantrayāmāsa rāja; nyadyadyuktaṃ rakṣaṇe vai prajānām ॥5-192-5॥

(Having heard this, Drupada, Yajnasena, having informed all the truth to the wise men, consulted the king's counsel, whatever was appropriate for the protection of the subjects indeed.)
Upon hearing this, Drupada, also known as Yajnasena, informed the wise men of all the truths and consulted with the king's counsel on whatever was deemed appropriate for the protection of the people.
सम्बन्धकं चैव समर्थ्य तस्मि; न्दाशार्णके वै नृपतौ नरेन्द्र। स्वयं कृत्वा विप्रलम्भं यथाव; न्मन्त्रैकाग्रो निश्चयं वै जगाम ॥५-१९२-६॥

(The Yaksha, with honey and food, showed her the pillar. For what purpose is this your effort? Tell me, I will do it without delay.)
The Yaksha, accompanied by honey and food, revealed the pillar to her. What is the purpose of this endeavor of yours? Tell me quickly, I shall accomplish it without delay.
अशक्यमिति सा यक्षं पुनः पुनरुवाच ह। करिष्यामीति चैनां स प्रत्युवाचाथ गुह्यकः ॥५-१९२-२४॥
aśakyamiti sā yakṣaṃ punaḥ punaruvāca ha। kariṣyāmīti caināṃ sa pratyuvācātha guhyakaḥ ॥5-192-24॥

("It is impossible," she said again and again to the Yaksha. "I will do it," the Guhyaka then replied to her.)
She repeatedly told the Yaksha that it was impossible. The Guhyaka then replied to her, "I will do it."
धनेश्वरस्यानुचरो वरदोऽस्मि नृपात्मजे। अदेयमपि दास्यामि ब्रूहि यत्ते विवक्षितम् ॥५-१९२-२५॥
dhaneśvarasyānucaro varado'smi nṛpātmaje। adeyamapi dāsyāmi brūhi yatte vivakṣitam ॥5-192-25॥

ततः शिखण्डी तत्सर्वमखिलेन न्यवेदयत्। तस्मै यक्षप्रधानाय स्थूणाकर्णाय भारत ॥५-१९२-२६॥

आपन्नो मे पिता यक्ष नचिराद्विनशिष्यति। अभियास्यति सङ्क्रुद्धो दशार्णाधिपतिर्हि तम् ॥५-१९२-२७॥
āpanno me pitā yakṣa nacirādvinaśiṣyati। abhi yāsyati saṅkruddho daśārṇādhipatirhi tam ॥5-192-27॥
[आपन्नः (āpannaḥ) - afflicted; मे (me) - my; पिता (pitā) - father; यक्ष (yakṣa) - Yaksha; नचिरात् (nacirāt) - soon; विनशिष्यति (vinaśiṣyati) - will perish; अभियास्यति (abhi yāsyati) - will attack; सङ्क्रुद्धः (saṅkruddhaḥ) - angry; दशार्णाधिपतिः (daśārṇādhipatiḥ) - the king of Dasharna; हि (hi) - indeed; तम् (tam) - him;]
(My father, the Yaksha, afflicted, will soon perish. The angry king of Dasharna will indeed attack him.)

(The king of great strength and enthusiasm, with golden armor, therefore protect me, O Yaksha, my father and mother.)
