Core and Pancharatra: Dhritarastra lamenting asks what is the secret behind the victory of the Pandavas. Bhishma narrates an episode of the Gods, where Lord Brahma goes to Lord Narayana with praise.

Sanjaya, having heard of the complete defeat of my sons, I am greatly worried, O Suta, about how things will turn out.
ध्रुवं विदुरवाक्यानि धक्ष्यन्ति हृदयं मम। यथा हि दृश्यते सर्वं दैवयोगेन सञ्जय ॥६-६१-३॥
dhruvaṁ viduravākyāni dhakṣyanti hṛdayaṁ mama। yathā hi dṛśyate sarvaṁ daivayogena sañjaya ॥6-61-3॥

केनावध्या महात्मानः पाण्डुपुत्रा महाबलाः। केन दत्तवरास्तात किं वा ज्ञानं विदन्ति ते ॥ येन क्षयं न गच्छन्ति दिवि तारागणा इव ॥६-६१-५॥

यथावध्याः पाण्डुसुता यथा वध्याश्च मे सुताः। एतन्मे सर्वमाचक्ष्व यथातत्त्वेन सञ्जय ॥६-६१-७॥
yathāvadhyāḥ pāṇḍusutā yathā vadhyāśca me sutāḥ। etanme sarvamācakṣva yathātattvena sañjaya ॥6-61-7॥

पुत्राणां व्यसनं मन्ये ध्रुवं प्राप्तं सुदारुणम्। घातयिष्यति मे पुत्रान्सर्वान्भीमो न संशयः ॥६-६१-९॥
putrāṇāṃ vyasanaṃ manye dhruvaṃ prāptaṃ sudāruṇam। ghātayiṣyati me putrānsarvānbhīmo na saṃśayaḥ ॥6-61-9॥

(All that disregarding the sin of your sons, they were always deniers, O elder of the Pāṇḍus. And your sons do not consider them much, O lord of the people.)

(The very great and terrible fruit of the constantly performed sinful action, like a poisonous fruit, has been obtained. O great king, enjoy that with your sons and friends.)

तथा मया चाप्यसकृद्वार्यमाणो न गृह्णसि। वाक्यं हितं च पथ्यं च मर्त्यः पथ्यमिवौषधम् ॥ पुत्राणां मतमास्थाय जितान्मन्यसि पाण्डवान् ॥६-६१-२२॥

kriyatāṃ pāṇḍavaiḥ sārdhaṃ śamo bharatasattama। etatkṣamamahaṃ manye pṛthivyāstava cābhibho ॥6-61-31॥

भुञ्जेमां पृथिवीं राजन्भ्रातृभिः सहितः सुखी। दुर्हृदस्तापयन्सर्वान्नन्दयंश्चापि बान्धवान् ॥६-६१-३२॥
bhuñjemāṃ pṛthivīṃ rājanbhrātṛbhiḥ sahitaḥ sukhī। durhṛdastāpayan sarvān nandayaṃś cāpi bāndhavān ॥6-61-32॥
[भुञ्जेमां (bhuñjemāṃ) - enjoy this; पृथिवीं (pṛthivīṃ) - earth; राजन् (rājan) - O king; भ्रातृभिः (bhrātṛbhiḥ) - with brothers; सहितः (sahitaḥ) - together; सुखी (sukhī) - happy; दुर्हृदः (durhṛdaḥ) - ill-wishers; तापयन् (tāpayan) - tormenting; सर्वान् (sarvān) - all; नन्दयन् (nandayan) - pleasing; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; बान्धवान् (bāndhavān) - relatives;]
(Enjoy this earth, O king, together with your brothers, happily tormenting all ill-wishers and also pleasing the relatives.)

यश्च हेतुरवध्यत्वे तेषामक्लिष्टकर्मणाम्। तं शृणुष्व महाराज मम कीर्तयतः प्रभो ॥६-६१-३४॥
yaśca heturavadhyatve teṣāmakliṣṭakarmaṇām। taṃ śṛṇuṣva mahārāja mama kīrtayataḥ prabho ॥6-61-34॥
[यः (yaḥ) - who; च (ca) - and; हेतुः (hetuḥ) - reason; अवध्यत्वे (avadhyatve) - in invincibility; तेषाम् (teṣām) - their; अक्लिष्टकर्मणाम् (akliṣṭakarmaṇām) - of those with effortless actions; तं (tam) - that; शृणुष्व (śṛṇuṣva) - hear; महाराज (mahārāja) - O great king; मम (mama) - my; कीर्तयतः (kīrtayataḥ) - speaking; प्रभो (prabho) - O lord;]
(And who is the reason for the invincibility of those with effortless actions, hear that, O great king, as I speak, O lord.)
O great king, listen to the reason behind the invincibility of those who perform actions effortlessly, as I narrate it to you, O lord.
नास्ति लोकेषु तद्भूतं भविता नो भविष्यति। यो जयेत्पाण्डवान्सङ्ख्ये पालिताञ्शार्ङ्गधन्वना ॥६-६१-३५॥
nāsti lokeṣu tadbhūtaṃ bhavitā no bhaviṣyati। yo jayetpāṇḍavānsaṅkhye pālitāñśārṅgadhanvanā ॥6-61-35॥
[नास्ति (nāsti) - there is not; लोकेषु (lokeṣu) - in the worlds; तत् (tat) - that; भूतं (bhūtaṃ) - existent; भविता (bhavitā) - will be; न (na) - not; भविष्यति (bhaviṣyati) - will become; यः (yaḥ) - who; जयेत् (jayet) - would conquer; पाण्डवान् (pāṇḍavān) - the Pandavas; सङ्ख्ये (saṅkhye) - in battle; पालितान् (pālitān) - protected; शार्ङ्गधन्वना (śārṅgadhanvanā) - by the wielder of the Sharnga bow;]
(There is not, nor will there be in the worlds, that which would conquer the Pandavas in battle, protected by the wielder of the Sharnga bow.)
In all the worlds, nothing has existed, nor will exist, that can defeat the Pandavas in battle, as they are protected by Krishna, the wielder of the Sharnga bow.
यत्तु मे कथितं तात मुनिभिर्भावितात्मभिः। पुराणगीतं धर्मज्ञ तच्छृणुष्व यथातथम् ॥६-६१-३६॥
yattu me kathitaṃ tāta munibhirbhāvitātmabhiḥ। purāṇagītaṃ dharmajña tacchṛṇuṣva yathātatham ॥6-61-36॥
[यत् (yat) - that; तु (tu) - but; मे (me) - my; कथितं (kathitaṃ) - told; तात (tāta) - dear; मुनिभिः (munibhiḥ) - by sages; भावितात्मभिः (bhāvitātmabhiḥ) - with purified souls; पुराणगीतं (purāṇagītaṃ) - ancient song; धर्मज्ञ (dharmajña) - knower of dharma; तत् (tat) - that; शृणुष्व (śṛṇuṣva) - listen; यथातथम् (yathātatham) - as it is;]
(But that which was told to me, dear, by sages with purified souls, the ancient song, O knower of dharma, listen to that as it is.)

पुरा किल सुराः सर्वे ऋषयश्च समागताः। पितामहमुपासेदुः पर्वते गन्धमादने ॥६-६१-३७॥

त्वं गतिः सर्वभूतानां त्वं नेता त्वं जगन्मुखम्। त्वत्प्रसादेन देवेश सुखिनो विबुधाः सदा ॥६-६१-६१॥
tvaṁ gatiḥ sarvabhūtānāṁ tvaṁ netā tvaṁ jaganmukham। tvatprasādena deveśa sukhino vibudhāḥ sadā ॥6-61-61॥

सृष्ट्वा सङ्कर्षणं देवं स्वयमात्मानमात्मना। कृष्ण त्वमात्मनास्राक्षीः प्रद्युम्नं चात्मसम्भवम् ॥६-६१-६५॥

[सृष्ट्वा (sṛṣṭvā) - having created; सङ्कर्षणं (saṅkarṣaṇam) - Saṅkarṣaṇa; देवं (devam) - god; स्वयम् (svayam) - self; आत्मानम् (ātmānam) - self; आत्मना (ātmanā) - by self; कृष्ण (kṛṣṇa) - Kṛṣṇa; त्वम् (tvam) - you; आत्मना (ātmanā) - by self; अस्राक्षीः (asrākṣīḥ) - created; प्रद्युम्नं (pradyumnam) - Pradyumna; च (ca) - and; आत्मसम्भवम् (ātmasambhavam) - self-born;]
(Having created Saṅkarṣaṇa, the god, by yourself, Kṛṣṇa, you created Pradyumna, the self-born, by yourself.)

प्रद्युम्नाच्चानिरुद्धं त्वं यं विदुर्विष्णुमव्ययम्। अनिरुद्धोऽसृजन्मां वै ब्रह्माणं लोकधारिणम् ॥६-६१-६६॥

(From Pradyumna and Aniruddha, whom you know as the imperishable Viṣṇu, Aniruddha indeed created me, Brahmā, the sustainer of the world.)

tatrāsuravadhaṃ kṛtvā sarvalokasukhāya vai। dharmaṃ sthāpya yaśaḥ prāpya yogaṃ prāpsyasi tattvataḥ ॥6-61-68॥
[तत्र (tatra) - there; असुरवधं (asuravadham) - demon-slaying; कृत्वा (kṛtvā) - having done; सर्वलोकसुखाय (sarvalokasukhāya) - for the happiness of all worlds; वै (vai) - indeed; धर्मं (dharmaṃ) - righteousness; स्थाप्य (sthāpya) - establishing; यशः (yaśaḥ) - fame; प्राप्य (prāpya) - having obtained; योगं (yogam) - union; प्राप्स्यसि (prāpsyasi) - you will attain; तत्त्वतः (tattvataḥ) - truly;]
(There, having done the demon-slaying for the happiness of all worlds, indeed, establishing righteousness, having obtained fame, you will truly attain union.)
