किं नु दुर्योधनैवं मां वाक्षल्यैरुपविध्यसि। घटमानं यथाशक्ति कुर्वाणं च तव प्रियम् ॥ जुह्वानं समरे प्राणांस्तवैव हितकाम्यया ॥६-९४-४॥

(What indeed, Duryodhana, thus you are piercing me with harsh words, striving to the best of ability, doing your pleasure, sacrificing lives in battle for your desire of welfare.)
Why, Duryodhana, do you speak to me with such harshness? I am striving to the best of my ability, doing what pleases you, and sacrificing my life in battle for your welfare.
यदा तु पाण्डवः शूरः खाण्डवेऽग्निमतर्पयत्। पराजित्य रणे शक्रं पर्याप्तं तन्निदर्शनम् ॥६-९४-५॥
yadā tu pāṇḍavaḥ śūraḥ khāṇḍave'gnimatarpayat। parājitya raṇe śakraṃ paryāptaṃ tannidarśanam ॥6-94-5॥

द्रवमाणेषु शूरेषु सोदरेषु तथाभिभो। सूतपुत्रे च राधेये पर्याप्तं तन्निदर्शनम् ॥६-९४-७॥
dravamāṇeṣu śūreṣu sodareṣu tathābhibho। sūtaputre ca rādheye paryāptaṃ tannidarśanam ॥6-94-7॥

(In those who are fleeing, in the heroes, in the brothers, O lord, in the son of a charioteer and in Radheya, that example is sufficient.)

यच्च नः सहितान्सर्वान्विराटनगरे तदा। एक एव समुद्यातः पर्याप्तं तन्निदर्शनम् ॥६-९४-८॥
yacca naḥ sahitānsarvānvirāṭanagare tadā। eka eva samudyātaḥ paryāptaṃ tannidarśanam ॥6-94-8॥

द्रोणं च युधि संरब्धं मां च निर्जित्य संयुगे। कर्णं च त्वां च द्रौणिं च कृपं च सुमहारथम् ॥ वासांसि स समादत्त पर्याप्तं तन्निदर्शनम् ॥६-९४-९॥

निवातकवचान्युद्धे वासवेनापि दुर्जयान्। जितवान्समरे पार्थः पर्याप्तं तन्निदर्शनम् ॥६-९४-१०॥

Arjuna, known as Pārtha, conquered the Nivātakavacas, who were invincible even to Indra in battle. This serves as a sufficient example of his prowess.
को हि शक्तो रणे जेतुं पाण्डवं रभसं रणे। त्वं तु मोहान्न जानीषे वाच्यावाच्यं सुयोधन ॥६-९४-११॥
ko hi śakto raṇe jetuṃ pāṇḍavaṃ rabhasaṃ raṇe। tvaṃ tu mohānna jānīṣe vācyāvācyaṃ suyodhana ॥6-94-11॥
[कः (kaḥ) - who; हि (hi) - indeed; शक्तः (śaktaḥ) - capable; रणे (raṇe) - in battle; जेतुम् (jetum) - to conquer; पाण्डवम् (pāṇḍavam) - Pāṇḍava; रभसम् (rabhasam) - fierce; रणे (raṇe) - in battle; त्वम् (tvam) - you; तु (tu) - but; मोहात् (mohāt) - out of delusion; न (na) - not; जानीषे (jānīṣe) - you know; वाच्य (vācya) - what should be said; अवाच्यम् (avācyam) - what should not be said; सुयोधन (suyodhana) - Suyodhana;]
(Who indeed is capable of conquering the fierce Pāṇḍava in battle? But you, out of delusion, do not know what should be said and what should not be said, Suyodhana.)
Who can truly defeat the fierce Pāṇḍava in battle? However, Suyodhana, in your delusion, you fail to discern what is appropriate to say and what is not.
मुमूर्षुर्हि नरः सर्वान्वृक्षान्पश्यति काञ्चनान्। तथा त्वमपि गान्धारे विपरीतानि पश्यसि ॥६-९४-१२॥
mumūrṣur hi naraḥ sarvān vṛkṣān paśyati kāñcanān। tathā tvam api gāndhāre viparītāni paśyasi ॥6-94-12॥
[मुमूर्षुः (mumūrṣuḥ) - desiring to die; हि (hi) - indeed; नरः (naraḥ) - man; सर्वान् (sarvān) - all; वृक्षान् (vṛkṣān) - trees; पश्यति (paśyati) - sees; काञ्चनान् (kāñcanān) - golden; तथा (tathā) - similarly; त्वम् (tvam) - you; अपि (api) - also; गान्धारे (gāndhāre) - in Gandhara; विपरीतानि (viparītāni) - opposite things; पश्यसि (paśyasi) - see;]
(Indeed, a man desiring to die sees all trees as golden; similarly, you also see opposite things in Gandhara.)

स्वयं वैरं महत्कृत्वा पाण्डवैः सहसृञ्जयैः। युध्यस्व तानद्य रणे पश्यामः पुरुषो भव ॥६-९४-१३॥

अहं तु सोमकान्सर्वान्सपाञ्चालान्समागतान्। निहनिष्ये नरव्याघ्र वर्जयित्वा शिखण्डिनम् ॥६-९४-१४॥

पूर्वं हि स्त्री समुत्पन्ना शिखण्डी राजवेश्मनि। वरदानात्पुमाञ्जातः सैषा वै स्त्री शिखण्डिनी ॥६-९४-१६॥
pūrvaṃ hi strī samutpannā śikhaṇḍī rājaveśmani। varadānātpumāñjātaḥ saiṣā vai strī śikhaṇḍinī ॥6-94-16॥

(Formerly, indeed, a woman was born as Śikhaṇḍī in the royal palace. By a boon, she became a man; she is indeed the woman Śikhaṇḍinī.)
Once, there was a woman named Śikhaṇḍī who was born in the royal palace. Due to a boon, she transformed into a man and is known as the woman Śikhaṇḍinī.
तामहं न हनिष्यामि प्राणत्यागेऽपि भारत। यासौ प्राङ्निर्मिता धात्रा सैषा वै स्त्री शिखण्डिनी ॥६-९४-१७॥
tāmahaṃ na haniṣyāmi prāṇatyāge'pi bhārata। yāsau prāṅnirmita dhātrā saiṣā vai strī śikhaṇḍinī ॥6-94-17॥
[ताम् (tām) - her; अहम् (aham) - I; न (na) - not; हनिष्यामि (haniṣyāmi) - will kill; प्राणत्यागे (prāṇatyāge) - even at the cost of life; अपि (api) - even; भारत (bhārata) - O Bhārata; या (yā) - who; असौ (asau) - that; प्राक् (prāk) - before; निर्मिता (nirmita) - created; धात्रा (dhātrā) - by the creator; सा (sā) - she; एषा (eṣā) - this; वै (vai) - indeed; स्त्री (strī) - woman; शिखण्डिनी (śikhaṇḍinī) - Śikhaṇḍinī;]
(I will not kill her even at the cost of life, O Bhārata. She who was created by the creator before, she indeed is this woman Śikhaṇḍinī.)

सुखं स्वपिहि गान्धारे श्वोऽस्मि कर्ता महारणम्। यज्जनाः कथयिष्यन्ति यावत्स्थास्यति मेदिनी ॥६-९४-१८॥
sukhaṁ svapihi gāndhāre śvo'smi kartā mahāraṇam। yajjanaḥ kathayiṣyanti yāvatsyāsyati medinī ॥6-94-18॥
[सुखम् (sukham) - happily; स्वपिहि (svapihi) - sleep; गान्धारे (gāndhāre) - in Gandhara; श्वः (śvaḥ) - tomorrow; अस्मि (asmi) - I am; कर्त (kartā) - the doer; महारणम् (mahāraṇam) - great battle; यत् (yat) - which; जनाः (janāḥ) - people; कथयिष्यन्ति (kathayiṣyanti) - will speak; यावत् (yāvat) - as long as; स्थास्यति (sthāsyati) - remains; मेदिनी (medinī) - the earth;]
(Sleep happily in Gandhara; tomorrow I am the doer of a great battle, which people will speak of as long as the earth remains.)

एवमुक्तस्तव सुतो निर्जगाम जनेश्वर। अभिवाद्य गुरुं मूर्ध्ना प्रययौ स्वं निवेशनम् ॥६-९४-१९॥

(Thus addressed, your son departed, O lord of people. Having saluted the teacher with his head, he went to his own abode.)
After being addressed in this way, your son, O king, departed. He respectfully saluted his teacher and went to his own residence.
आगम्य तु ततो राजा विसृज्य च महाजनम्। प्रविवेश ततस्तूर्णं क्षयं शत्रुक्षयङ्करः ॥ प्रविष्टः स निशां तां च गमयामास पार्थिवः ॥६-९४-२०॥
āgamya tu tato rājā visṛjya ca mahājanam। praviveśa tatastūrṇaṃ kṣayaṃ śatrukṣayaṅkaraḥ ॥ praviṣṭaḥ sa niśāṃ tāṃ ca gamayāmāsa pārthivaḥ ॥6-94-20॥
