Pancharatra and Core: Shaly narrates a story comparing Karna to a Crow, that eats leftovers and then reminds him of all the previous occasions where he fled the battlefield instead of fighting Arjuna.

(Having heard that, the swans who were assembled there laughed. The strong ones among the birds, speaking much of the crow, the Chakranga birds said these words to the crow.)

अथ हंसवचो मूढः कुत्सयित्वा पुनः पुनः। प्रजगादोत्तरं काकः कत्थनो जातिलाघवात् ॥८-२८-२२॥
atha haṁsavaco mūḍhaḥ kutsayitvā punaḥ punaḥ। prajagādottaraṁ kākaḥ katthano jātilāghavāt ॥8-28-22॥

(Then fear entered the crow, who was unconscious there, not seeing the island trees, falling and exhausted. "Where indeed may I fall, tired, in that ocean?")
