Pancharatra-Ext: Karna remembers Parashurama's curse and also a curse by a Brahmin given to him for lying, and wrorries about the same.

शौरे रथं वाहयतोऽर्जुनस्य; बलं महास्त्राणि च पाण्डवस्य। अहं विजानामि यथावदद्य; परोक्षभूतं तव तत्तु शल्य ॥८-२९-२॥

O Shura, as you drive Arjuna's chariot, I recognize today the strength and great weapons of the Pandava. However, Shalya, I am aware of your hidden intentions.
तौ चाप्रधृष्यौ शस्त्रभृतां वरिष्ठौ; व्यपेतभीर्योधयिष्यामि कृष्णौ। सन्तापयत्यभ्यधिकं तु रामा; च्छापोऽद्य मां ब्राह्मणसत्तमाच्च ॥८-२९-३॥

(Asked and I said to him, the great sage; "I am a charioteer," thus he cursed me. "Charioteer, approach, this weapon obtained by you will not appear to you at the time of action.")

अन्यत्र यस्मात्तव मृत्युकाला; दब्राह्मणे ब्रह्म न हि ध्रुवं स्यात्। तदद्य पर्याप्तमतीव शस्त्र; मस्मिन्सङ्ग्रामे तुमुले तात भीमे ॥८-२९-७॥

एवं बलेनातिबलं महास्त्रं; समुद्रकल्पं सुदुरापमुग्रम्। शरौघिणं पार्थिवान्मज्जयन्तं; वेलेव पार्थमिषुभिः संसहिष्ये ॥८-२९-१०॥

[एवम् (evam) - thus; बलेन (balena) - by strength; अतिबलम् (atibalam) - excessive strength; महास्त्रम् (mahāstram) - great weapon; समुद्रकल्पम् (samudrakalpam) - like the ocean; सुदुरापम् (sudurāpam) - very difficult to obtain; उग्रम् (ugram) - fierce; शरौघिणम् (śaraughiṇam) - with a multitude of arrows; पार्थिवान् (pārthivān) - kings; मज्जयन्तम् (majjayantam) - drowning; वेला (velā) - shore; इव (iva) - like; पार्थम् (pārtham) - Arjuna; इषुभिः (iṣubhiḥ) - with arrows; संसहिष्ये (saṁsahiṣye) - I will withstand;]
(Thus, by strength, with excessive strength, a great weapon, like the ocean, very difficult to obtain, fierce, with a multitude of arrows, drowning kings, like the shore, Arjuna, with arrows, I will withstand.)
Thus, with immense strength and a formidable weapon akin to the ocean, fierce and hard to overcome, I will withstand Arjuna with a multitude of arrows, submerging the kings like the shore withstands the ocean.
अद्याहवे यस्य न तुल्यमन्यं; मन्ये मनुष्यं धनुराददानम्। सुरासुरान्वै युधि यो जयेत; तेनाद्य मे पश्य युद्धं सुघोरम् ॥८-२९-११॥

[अतिमानी (atimānī) - arrogant; पाण्डवः (pāṇḍavaḥ) - Pāṇḍava; युद्धकामः (yuddhakāmaḥ) - desirous of battle; अमानुषैः (amānuṣaiḥ) - with non-human; एष्यति (eṣyati) - will come; मे (me) - my; महास्त्रैः (mahāstraiḥ) - with great weapons; तस्य (tasya) - his; अस्त्रम् (astram) - weapon; अस्त्रैः (astraiḥ) - with weapons; अभिहत्य (abhihatya) - having struck; सङ्ख्ये (saṅkhye) - in battle; शर-उत्तमैः (śara-uttamaiḥ) - with excellent arrows; पातयिष्यामि (pātayiṣyāmi) - I will make fall; पार्थम् (pārtham) - Pārtha;]
(The arrogant Pāṇḍava, desirous of battle, will come with non-human great weapons. Having struck his weapon with weapons in battle, I will make Pārtha fall with excellent arrows.)
The arrogant Pāṇḍava, eager for battle, will approach with supernatural weapons. In the battle, having countered his weapon with my own, I shall bring down Pārtha with my finest arrows.
दिवाकरेणापि समं तपन्तं; समाप्तरश्मिं यशसा ज्वलन्तम्। तमोनुदं मेघ इवातिमात्रो; धनञ्जयं छादयिष्यामि बाणैः ॥८-२९-१३॥
divākareṇāpi samaṃ tapantaṃ; samāptaraśmiṃ yaśasā jvalantam। tamonudaṃ megha ivātimātro; dhanañjayaṃ chādayiṣyāmi bāṇaiḥ ॥8-29-13॥
[दिवाकरेण (divākareṇa) - by the sun; अपि (api) - also; समम् (samam) - equally; तपन्तम् (tapantam) - shining; समाप्तरश्मिम् (samāptaraśmim) - with extinguished rays; यशसा (yaśasā) - by fame; ज्वलन्तम् (jvalantam) - blazing; तमोनुदम् (tamonudam) - dispersing darkness; मेघः (meghaḥ) - cloud; इव (iva) - like; अतिमात्रः (atimātraḥ) - excessively; धनञ्जयम् (dhanañjayam) - Dhananjaya (Arjuna); छादयिष्यामि (chādayiṣyāmi) - I will cover; बाणैः (bāṇaiḥ) - with arrows;]
(I will cover Dhananjaya (Arjuna) with arrows like an excessively large cloud that disperses darkness, blazing with fame, with extinguished rays, shining equally with the sun.)

वैश्वानरं धूमशिखं ज्वलन्तं; तेजस्विनं लोकमिमं दहन्तम्। मेघो भूत्वा शरवर्षैर्यथाग्निं; तथा पार्थं शमयिष्यामि युद्धे ॥८-२९-१४॥
vaiśvānaraṁ dhūmaśikhaṁ jvalantaṁ; tejasvinaṁ lokamimaṁ dahantam। megho bhūtvā śaravarṣairyathāgniṁ; tathā pārthaṁ śamayiṣyāmi yuddhe ॥8-29-14॥
[वैश्वानरं (vaiśvānaraṁ) - fire; धूमशिखं (dhūmaśikhaṁ) - with smoke plume; ज्वलन्तं (jvalantaṁ) - burning; तेजस्विनं (tejasvinaṁ) - brilliant; लोकमिमं (lokamimaṁ) - this world; दहन्तम् (dahantam) - burning; मेघः (meghaḥ) - cloud; भूत्वा (bhūtvā) - becoming; शरवर्षैः (śaravarṣaiḥ) - with showers of arrows; यथा (yathā) - like; अग्निं (agniṁ) - fire; तथा (tathā) - so; पार्थं (pārthaṁ) - Arjuna; शमयिष्यामि (śamayiṣyāmi) - I will extinguish; युद्धे (yuddhe) - in battle;]
(Like a cloud with showers of arrows extinguishes fire, so will I extinguish Arjuna in battle.)
I will become like a cloud with showers of arrows to extinguish the brilliant fire that is burning this world, and in the same way, I will extinguish Arjuna in battle.
प्रमाथिनं बलवन्तं प्रहारिणं; प्रभञ्जनं मातरिश्वानमुग्रम्। युद्धे सहिष्ये हिमवानिवाचलो; धनञ्जयं क्रुद्धममृष्यमाणम् ॥८-२९-१५॥
pramāthinaṃ balavantaṃ prahāriṇaṃ; prabhañjanaṃ mātariśvānamugram। yuddhe sahiṣye himavānivācalo; dhanañjayaṃ kruddhamamṛṣyamāṇam ॥8-29-15॥
[प्रमाथिनं (pramāthinaṃ) - tormentor; बलवन्तं (balavantaṃ) - powerful; प्रहारिणं (prahāriṇaṃ) - striker; प्रभञ्जनं (prabhañjanaṃ) - destroyer; मातरिश्वानम् (mātariśvānam) - wind-god; उग्रम् (ugram) - fierce; युद्धे (yuddhe) - in battle; सहिष्ये (sahiṣye) - I will endure; हिमवान् (himavān) - Himalaya; इव (iva) - like; अचलः (acalaḥ) - immovable; धनञ्जयं (dhanañjayaṃ) - Arjuna; क्रुद्धम् (kruddham) - angry; अमृष्यमाणम् (amṛṣyamāṇam) - unforgiving;]
(The tormentor, powerful striker, destroyer, fierce wind-god; in battle, I will endure like the immovable Himalaya; Arjuna, angry and unforgiving.)
