कर्मभिः पार्थ नानात्वं लोकानां यान्ति मानवाः। पुण्यान्पुण्यकृतो यान्ति पापान्पापकृतो जनाः ॥१३-१०५-२॥
karmabhiḥ pārtha nānātvaṃ lokānāṃ yānti mānavāḥ। puṇyān puṇyakṛto yānti pāpān pāpakṛto janāḥ॥13-105-2॥

O Pārtha, by their actions, men attain various worlds: the doers of good go to auspicious worlds, while the doers of evil go to sinful worlds. (13-105-2)
अत्राप्युदाहरन्तीममितिहासं पुरातनम्। गौतमस्य मुनेस्तात संवादं वासवस्य च ॥१३-१०५-३॥

तं दृष्ट्वा जीवयामास सानुक्रोशो धृतव्रतः। स तु दीर्घेण कालेन बभूवातिबलो महान् ॥१३-१०५-५॥
taṁ dṛṣṭvā jīva-yām-āsa sā-anukrośaḥ dhṛta-vrataḥ। sa tu dīrgheṇa kālena babhūva atibalaḥ mahān ॥13-105-5॥

(Him having seen, (the one) compassionate, firm in vow, caused to live. He but, after a long time, became exceedingly strong (and) great.)
Seeing him, the compassionate and firm-vowed (person) saved his life. But in due course of time, he became very strong and great. (13-105-5)
तं प्रभिन्नं महानागं प्रस्रुतं सर्वतो मदम्। धृतराष्ट्रस्य रूपेण शक्रो जग्राह हस्तिनम् ॥१३-१०५-६॥
taṁ prabhinnaṁ mahānāgaṁ prasrutaṁ sarvato madam। dhṛtarāṣṭrasya rūpeṇa śakro jagrāha hastinam ॥13-105-6॥

ह्रियमाणं तु तं दृष्ट्वा गौतमः संशितव्रतः। अभ्यभाषत राजानं धृतराष्ट्रं महातपाः ॥१३-१०५-७॥

मा मे हार्षीर्हस्तिनं पुत्रमेनं; दुःखात्पुष्टं धृतराष्ट्राकृतज्ञ। मित्रं सतां सप्तपदं वदन्ति; मित्रद्रोहो नैव राजन्स्पृशेत्त्वाम् ॥१३-१०५-८॥
mā me hārṣīr hastinaṁ putram enaṁ; duḥkhāt puṣṭaṁ dhṛtarāṣṭra-akṛtajña। mitraṁ satāṁ saptapadaṁ vadanti; mitra-drohaḥ naiva rājan spṛśet tvām ॥13-105-8॥

(Do not, my, feel joy, the elephant, son, this; from suffering, nourished, ungrateful to Dhritarashtra. Friend, of good people, seven steps, they say; betrayal of a friend, never, O king, may touch, you (should not be touched by you).)
Do not rejoice, my son, at this elephant—nourished in suffering, ungrateful to Dhritarashtra. The wise say that friendship is made in seven steps; O king, let the betrayal of a friend never touch you. (13-105-8)
इध्मोदकप्रदातारं शून्यपालकमाश्रमे। विनीतमाचार्यकुले सुयुक्तं गुरुकर्मणि ॥१३-१०५-९॥
idhmodakapradātāraṁ śūnyapālakamāśrame| vinītamācāryakule suyuktaṁ gurukarmaṇi ॥13-105-9॥
[इध्मोदकप्रदातारं (idhmodakapradātāram) - giver of fuel and water; शून्यपालकमाश्रमे (śūnyapālakam āśrame) - caretaker of empty (quarters) in the hermitage; विनीतमाचार्यकुले (vinītaṁ ācāryakule) - well-mannered in the preceptor's family; सयुक्तं (suyuktaṁ) - properly engaged; गुरुकर्मणि (gurukarmaṇi) - in teacher's duties;]
(Giver of fuel and water; caretaker of empty (quarters) in the hermitage; well-mannered in the preceptor's family; properly engaged in teacher's duties.)
He who provides fuel and water, who looks after the empty quarters in the hermitage, behaves respectfully in the preceptor's family, and is properly engaged in the duties toward the teacher. (13-105-9)
शिष्टं दान्तं कृतज्ञं च प्रियं च सततं मम। न मे विक्रोशतो राजन्हर्तुमर्हसि कुञ्जरम् ॥१३-१०५-१०॥
śiṣṭaṃ dāntaṃ kṛtajñaṃ ca priyaṃ ca satataṃ mama। na me vikrośato rājan hartum arhasi kuñjaram॥13-105-10॥

(Well-mannered, restrained, grateful and dear and always my—not of me (from me) crying (aloud), O king, to take away you should elephant.)
My elephant, who is well-mannered, restrained, grateful, dear, and always with me, O king, you should not take away from me while (it is) crying. (13-105-10)

gavāṁ sahasraṁ bhavate dadāmi; dāsīśataṁ niṣkaśatāni pañca. anyacca vittaṁ vividhaṁ maharṣe; kiṁ brāhmaṇasyeha gajena kṛtyam ॥13-105-11॥

May the cows, female servants with niṣka-coins, various gems, and every kind of wealth come to you alone, O king. What use does a brāhmaṇa have for wealth here? (13-105-12)

ब्राह्मणानां हस्तिभिर्नास्ति कृत्यं; राजन्यानां नागकुलानि विप्र। स्वं वाहनं नयतो नास्त्यधर्मो; नागश्रेष्ठाद्गौतमास्मान्निवर्त ॥१३-१०५-१३॥
brāhmaṇānāṃ hastibhir nāsti kṛtyaṃ; rājan-yānāṃ nāga-kulāni vipra. svaṃ vāhanaṃ nayato nāsty adharmaḥ; nāga-śreṣṭhād gautama asmān nivarta ॥13-105-13॥

(Of the Brāhmaṇas, with elephants, there is no duty; of kṣatriyas, elephant-herds, O Brāhmaṇa. Using one’s own vehicle, there is no unrighteousness; from the best of elephants, O Gautama, turn us away.)
Brāhmaṇas have nothing to do with elephants; O Brāhmaṇa, elephant-herds belong to royals. There is no fault in using one's own vehicle; O Gautama, turn us away from the best of elephants. (13-105-13)

yatra preto nandati puṇyakarmā; yatra pretaḥ śocati pāpakarmā. vaivasvatasya sadane mahātmanaḥ; tatra tvāhaṃ hastinaṃ yātayiṣye ॥13-105-14॥
[यत्र (yatra) - where; प्रेतः (pretaḥ) - the departed (soul); नन्दति (nandati) - rejoices; पुण्यकर्मा (puṇyakarmā) - one who has performed meritorious deeds; यत्र (yatra) - where; प्रेतः (pretaḥ) - the departed (soul); शोचति (śocati) - suffers; पापकर्मा (pāpakarmā) - one who has committed sinful acts; वैवस्वतस्य (vaivasvatasya) - of Vaivasvata; सदने (sadane) - in the mansion; महात्मनः (mahātmanaḥ) - of the great-souled (one); तत्र (tatra) - there; त्वाम् (tvām) - you; अहम् (aham) - I; हस्तिनम् (hastinam) - elephant; यातयिष्ये (yātayiṣye) - shall send;]
(Where the departed (soul) who has performed meritorious deeds rejoices; where the departed (soul) who has committed sinful acts suffers. In the mansion of Vaivasvata, of the great-souled one, there I shall send you, elephant.)
Where those who performed virtuous deeds rejoice after death, and where those who committed sinful deeds suffer—there, in the mansion of the great-souled Vaivasvata, I shall send you, O elephant. (13-105-14)

ye niṣkriyā nāstikāḥ śraddadhānāḥ; pāpātmāna indriyārthe niviṣṭāḥ. yamasya te yātanāṃ prāpnuvanti; paraṃ gantā dhṛtarāṣṭro na tatra ॥13-105-15॥

(Who inactive, disbelievers, without faith; evil-souled ones, in sense-objects immersed. Of Yama those torment obtain; further goer Dhritarashtra not there (is). (13-105-15))
Those who are inactive, disbelievers, without faith; evil-natured and immersed in sense pleasures—such persons suffer Yama's torments. Dhritarashtra will not go there (to that torment). (13-105-15)

वैवस्वती संयमनी जनानां; यत्रानृतं नोच्यते यत्र सत्यम्। यत्राबला बलिनं यातयन्ति; तत्र त्वाहं हस्तिनं यातयिष्ये ॥१३-१०५-१६॥
vaivasvatī saṁyamanī janānāṁ; yatrānṛtaṁ nocyate yatra satyam। yatrābalā balinaṁ yātayanti; tatra tvāhaṁ hastinaṁ yātayiṣye ॥13-105-16॥

(Of Yama’s abode of restraint of beings; where untruth is not spoken where truth (is spoken); where the weak torment the strong; there you I the elephant will torment (cause to suffer).)
In Yama’s Saṁyamanī, the dwelling of beings, where untruth is not spoken and truth is spoken, where the weak torment the strong—there I will torment you, O elephant. (13-105-16)
धृतराष्ट्र उवाच॥

(Elder (female), sister, father, mother and teacher—as honoring (them), they conduct (themselves). Of such (people), this world, O great sage; beyond, goer, Dhritarashtra not there (is).)
Those who honor their elder sister, father, mother, and teacher—such people, O great sage, will attain this world; beyond that, Dhritarashtra will not go there. (13-105-17)

(Mandakini of Vaiśravaṇa the king; greatly pleasurable, entered by enjoyers of pleasures; enjoyed by Gandharvas, Yakṣas and Apsaras; there indeed I elephant will send.)
I will send the elephant to the Mandakini river of King Vaiśravaṇa, which is rich in pleasures, entered by pleasure-seekers, and enjoyed by Gandharvas, Yakṣas, and Apsaras there. (13-105-18)

atithivratāḥ suvratā ye janā vai; pratiśrayaṃ dadati brāhmaṇebhyaḥ। śiṣṭāśinaḥ saṃvibhajyāśritāṃś ca; mandākinīṃ te'pi vibhūṣayanti ॥13-105-19॥

(Those devoted to the vow regarding guests, of good vows, who indeed give shelter to Brāhmaṇas, who eat after distributing (their food) to those who have taken refuge, they even embellish the Mandākinī (heavenly river).)
Those people devoted to serving guests and who keep good vows, who truly offer shelter to Brāhmaṇas, who eat only after sharing their food with those dependent on them—they too beautify the heavenly river Mandākinī. (13-105-19)

(At the forefront of Meru, the forest which shines pleasant, blooming, enjoyed by the song of Kinnaras, where beautiful and vast are the Jambu trees; there, I will let you, the elephant, go.)
In front of Mount Meru, the beautiful blooming forest enjoyed by the songs of Kinnaras, where the splendid and great Jambu trees stand, there I will release you, the elephant. (13-105-20)

ye brāhmaṇā mṛdavaḥ satyaśīlā; bahuśrutāḥ sarvabhūtābhirāmāḥ। ye'dhīyante setihāsaṃ purāṇaṃ; madhvāhutya juhvati ca dvijebhyaḥ॥13-105-21॥

Those Brāhmaṇas who are gentle, truthful, learned, and pleasing to all beings, who study the Itihāsa and Purāṇa, and who make offerings of honey to other twice-born—such are described here. (13-105-21)
तथाविधानामेष लोको महर्षे; परं गन्ता धृतराष्ट्रो न तत्र। यद्विद्यते विदितं स्थानमस्ति; तद्ब्रूहि त्वं त्वरितो ह्येष यामि ॥१३-१०५-२२॥
tathāvidhānāmeṣa loko maharṣe; paraṃ gantā dhṛtarāṣṭro na tatra। yad vidyate viditaṃ sthānam asti; tad brūhi tvaṃ tvarito hyeṣa yāmi॥13-105-22॥

(Of such kind this world, O great sage; further Dhritarashtra will not go there. Which known place exists, that tell you quickly indeed, this I go.)
O great sage, this world is of such kind; Dhritarashtra will not go further there. Whatever known place exists, tell me that quickly, for I now go there. (13-105-22)

Those people who are always skilled in dance and song, moving together without begging—such is this world, O great sage; but Dhṛtarāṣṭra will not go further there. (13-105-24)

Where the beautiful northern Kurus shine, rejoicing with the gods, O king; where sages born from fire, as well as those not born of a womb and those of mountain birth, dwell. (13-105-25)
यत्र शक्रो वर्षति सर्वकामा; न्यत्र स्त्रियः कामचाराश्चरन्ति। यत्र चेर्ष्या नास्ति नारीनराणां; तत्र त्वाहं हस्तिनं यातयिष्ये ॥१३-१०५-२६॥

ye sarvabhūteṣu nivṛttakāmā; amāṁsādā nyastadaṇḍāś caranti. na hiṁsanti sthāvaraṁ jaṅgamaṁ ca; bhūtānāṁ ye sarvabhūtātmabhūtāḥ ॥13-105-27॥
[ये (ye) - they who; सर्वभूतेषु (sarvabhūteṣu) - among all beings; निवृत्तकामा (nivṛttakāmāḥ) - those who have withdrawn from desires; अमांसादा (amāṁsādāḥ) - who do not eat flesh; न्यस्तदण्डाः (nyastadaṇḍāḥ) - who have laid down the rod (non-violent); चरन्ति (caranti) - move about; न (na) - not; हिंसन्ति (hiṁsanti) - they injure; स्थावरम् (sthāvaram) - the stationary (immovable, plants, etc.); जङ्गमं (jaṅgamam) - the moving (creatures); च (ca) - and; भूतानाम् (bhūtānām) - of beings; ये (ye) - they who; सर्वभूतात्मभूताः (sarvabhūtātmabhūtāḥ) - who are of the nature of the Self of all beings;]
(They who, among all beings, are free from desires; do not eat flesh; who have laid down the rod, move about. They do not injure the stationary and the moving, and who are of the nature of the Self of all beings, of beings.)
Those who, among all beings, are free from desires, do not eat flesh, who are non-violent and wander about, do not harm either the stationary or the moving, and who are identified with the Self of all beings.
निराशिषो निर्ममा वीतरागा; लाभालाभे तुल्यनिन्दाप्रशंसाः। तथाविधानामेष लोको महर्षे; परं गन्ता धृतराष्ट्रो न तत्र ॥१३-१०५-२८॥

(Free from desire for result, free from possessiveness, freed from passion; equal in gain and loss, blame and praise. Such as these, this world, O great sage, to the supreme will go; Dhritarashtra, not there.)
Those who are free from desire for results, possessiveness, and passion; who are equal in gain and loss, blame and praise—people of such nature, O great sage, will attain the supreme state. Dhritarashtra, however, will not reach there. (13-105-28)

Beyond that shine the everlasting worlds, endowed with excellent fragrance, pure and free from sorrow. In the abode of the great-souled King Soma, there I will cause you, the elephant, to go. (13-105-29)

(Those who, possessing the disposition of giving, do not accept always; and also do not take wealths from others. Of whom, there is not anything not to be given for one deserving; all-receiving-of-guests, of very pleasant nature, and are people.)
Those who are generous by nature never accept (gifts) themselves, nor do they take wealth from others. For such people, there is nothing that they would not give to a deserving person; they are hospitable to all guests and are very gracious people. (13-105-30)

(Those who are forgiving do not speak back, and others, even having become able, always (are) virtuous in conduct. Of such disposition, this world, O great sage, higher will reach Dhritarashtra not there (in that state). (13-105-31))
Those who are forgiving do not speak back, and others, even when able, are always of virtuous conduct. Of people with such disposition, O great sage, this world—Dhritarashtra will not reach the higher (state) there. (13-105-31)

They are fond of self-study and devoted to serving their teachers; they practice austerity, observe good vows, and are truthful. They do not speak against their teachers, are always diligent, and are beyond reproach in fulfilling their teachers' tasks. (13-105-33)
तथाविधानामेष लोको महर्षे; विशुद्धानां भावितवाङ्मतीनाम्। सत्ये स्थितानां वेदविदां महात्मनां; परं गन्ता धृतराष्ट्रो न तत्र ॥१३-१०५-३४॥
tathā-vidhānām eṣa loko maharṣe; viśuddhānām bhāvita-vāṅ-matīnām. satye sthitānām veda-vidām mahātmanām; paraṃ gantā dhṛtarāṣṭro na tatra ॥13-105-34॥

(By the Cāturmāsya sacrifices who perform sacrifice people always; likewise of iṣṭi sacrifices one thousand attain. Who and Agnihotra ritual offer (make) with faith, according as prescribed method, three years, Brāhmaṇas.)
Those people who always perform the Cāturmāsya sacrifices gain thereby the result of one thousand iṣṭi sacrifices. And those Brāhmaṇas who offer the Agnihotra ritual with faith, according to the prescribed method, for three years (attain the same result). (13-105-36)
स्वदारिणां धर्मधुरे महात्मनां; यथोचिते वर्त्मनि सुस्थितानाम्। धर्मात्मनामुद्वहतां गतिं तां; परं गन्ता धृतराष्ट्रो न तत्र ॥१३-१०५-३७॥

(Of those devoted to their own wives, in the yoke of dharma, of great-souled ones; in the proper path of those well established; of the righteous ones, of those performing, that path; supreme, will go Dhritarashtra not there.)
Dhritarashtra will not attain that supreme path which is followed by great-souled, righteous men devoted to their own wives and well established in their proper duty. (13-105-37)

The worlds of Indra are spotless and free from sorrow; difficult to attain, desired by men. For him, O king of much energy, I shall send this elephant to your house. (13-105-38)

śatavarṣajīvī yaśca śūro manuṣyo; vedādhyāyī yaśca yajvāpramattaḥ। ete sarve śakralokaṃ vrajanti; paraṃ gantā dhṛtarāṣṭro na tatra ॥13-105-39॥

(Who is living a hundred years and who is a valiant man; who is a Veda-studier and who is also a vigilant performer of sacrifice. These all go to the abode of Śakra; but Dhṛtarāṣṭra will not go supreme there.)
Those who live a hundred years, who are valiant men, who study the Veda and who are vigilant performers of sacrifice—all these go to the realm of Indra; but Dhṛtarāṣṭra will not attain that supreme place there. (13-105-39)

There are great worlds belonging to Prajāpati; on the heights of heaven, abundant and free from sorrow. Desired by all who are born in all worlds; there, I will send you, the elephant. (13-105-40)

(These kings anointed with the Rājasūya; righteous by nature, protectors of the people. And those whose limbs are bathed in the avabhṛtha of the Aśvamedha; among their worlds, Dhṛtarāṣṭra is not there.)

Then, beyond that, shine the eternal worlds—fragrant with supreme virtue, pure, and free from sorrow. There, in that rare and unassailable world of cows, I will dispatch the elephant. (13-105-42)

yo gosahasrī śatadaḥ samāṁ samāṁ; yo gośatī daśa dadyācca śaktyā. tathā daśabhyo yaś ca dadyād ihaikāṁ; pañcabhyō vā dānaśīlas tathaikām ॥13-105-43॥
[यो (yaḥ) - who; गोसहस्री (gosahasrī) - one who gives a thousand cows; शतदः (śatadaḥ) - one who gives a hundred times; समां (samām) - equal (gift); समां (samām) - equal (gift); यो (yaḥ) - who; गोशती (gośatī) - one who gives a hundred cows; दश (daśa) - ten; दद्याच्च (dadyācca) - and might give; शक्त्या (śaktyā) - by (his) ability; तथा (tathā) - so; दशभ्यः (daśabhyaḥ) - to ten (persons); यश्च (yaś ca) - and who; दद्यादिह (dadyād iha) - might give here; एकां (ekām) - one (cow); पञ्चभ्यो (pañcabhyo) - to five (persons); वा (vā) - or; दानशीलः (dānaśīlaḥ) - the giver; तथैकाम् (tathaikām) - so (he gives) one (cow);]
(Who, a giver of a thousand cows, a hundred times, equal, equal; who, a giver of a hundred cows, ten might give also by his ability. So to ten (persons), and who might give here one (cow); to five (persons) or the giver so (he gives) one (cow).)
Who gives a thousand cows a hundred times equally; who gives a hundred cows or gives ten (cows) as he is able. Likewise, he who gives one cow here to ten or to five people, or the generous one gives one, (all these are considered meritorious). (13-105-43)
ये जीर्यन्ते ब्रह्मचर्येण विप्रा; ब्राह्मीं वाचं परिरक्षन्ति चैव। मनस्विनस्तीर्थयात्रापरायणा; स्ते तत्र मोदन्ति गवां विमाने ॥१३-१०५-४४॥

(Those who grow old by celibacy, Brahmans, Brahmanic speech protect and indeed; those of strong mind devoted to pilgrimage—they there rejoice in the mansion of cows.)
Those Brahmans who grow old in celibacy, who protect Brahmanic speech, and who, being strong-minded, are devoted to pilgrimage—they there rejoice in the mansion of cows. (13-105-44)
प्रभासं मानसं पुण्यं पुष्कराणि महत्सरः। पुण्यं च नैमिषं तीर्थं बाहुदां करतोयिनीम् ॥१३-१०५-४५॥

na dveṣyo na priyaḥ kaścin na bandhur na ripus tathā. na jarāmaraṇe vāpi na puṇyaṃ na ca pātakam ॥13-105-50॥

There is no one who is hated nor dear, no relative nor enemy likewise; there is neither old age and death, nor even merit, nor sin. (13-105-50)
तस्मिन्विरजसि स्फीते प्रज्ञासत्त्वव्यवस्थिते। स्वयम्भुभवने पुण्ये हस्तिनं मे यतिष्यति ॥१३-१०५-५१॥
tasmin virajasi sphīte prajñāsattvavyavasthite। svayambhu-bhavane puṇye hastinaṃ me yatiṣyati॥13-105-51॥

(In that pure, abundant, established-in-intellect-and-firmness place, in the auspicious mansion of Svayambhu, my elephant will attain.)

(Freed from all attachments, self-controlled, practising discipline, engaged in establishment in the union with the self, have attained the state leading to heaven.)
Freed from all attachments, self-controlled, devoted to discipline, and established in the yoga of the self, they have attained the path to heaven. (13-105-52)
ते ब्रह्मभवनं पुण्यं प्राप्नुवन्तीह सात्त्विकाः। न तत्र धृतराष्ट्रस्ते शक्यो द्रष्टुं महामुने ॥१३-१०५-५३॥
te brahmabhavanaṃ puṇyaṃ prāpnuvantīha sāttvikāḥ। na tatra dhṛtarāṣṭraste śakyo draṣṭuṃ mahāmune ॥13-105-53॥

(They the abode of Brahman holy attain here those of sattvic (pure) nature. Not there Dhritarashtra he able to see O great sage.)

बुध्यामि त्वां वृत्रहणं शतक्रतुं; व्यतिक्रमन्तं भुवनानि विश्वा। कच्चिन्न वाचा वृजिनं कदा चि; दकार्षं ते मनसोऽभिषङ्गात् ॥१३-१०५-५५॥
budhyāmi tvāṃ vṛtrahaṇaṃ śatakratuṃ; vyatikramantaṃ bhuvanāni viśvā. kaccinna vācā vṛjinaṃ kadā ci; dakārṣaṃ te manaso'bhiṣaṅgāt ॥13-105-55॥

(I perceive you, Vṛtra-slayer, having a hundred powers, transgressing all worlds. Surely not by speech any wrongdoing at any time have I done to you, from attachment of mind.)
I realize you, Vṛtra-slayer, possessor of a hundred powers, as one who surpasses all the worlds. Surely, never by speech, have I ever done any wrong to you out of an attachment of mind. (13-105-55)

yasmād imaṃ lokapathaṃ prajānā; manv āgamaṃ padavāde gajasya। tasmād bhavān praṇataṃ mānuśa astu; bravīṣi yat tat karavāṇi sarvam ॥13-105-56॥
[यस्मात् (yasmāt) - since; इमं (imaṃ) - this; लोकपथं (lokapathaṃ) - worldly path; प्रजानाम् (prajānām) - of the people; मनु (manu) - Manu; आगमं (āgamaṃ) - the coming; पदवादे (padavāde) - from the footprints; गजस्य (gajasya) - of the elephant; तस्मात् (tasmāt) - therefore; भवान् (bhavān) - you; प्रणतं (praṇataṃ) - bowed; मानुश (mānuśa) - O man; अस्तु (astu) - let be; ब्रवीषि (bravīṣi) - you command; यत् (yat) - which; तत् (tat) - that; करवाणि (karavāṇi) - I will do; सर्वम् (sarvam) - all;]
(Since this worldly path of people Manu has come upon from the footprints of the elephant, therefore, you, let the bowed one, O man, be; what you command, that I will do all.)
Since Manu found this path of the people by following the elephant's footprints, therefore, O lord, I bow to you; whatever you command, I will do all. (13-105-56)

(This son of yours, O foremost of Brāhmaṇas, the serpent, also is smelling you while gazing at you. And your feet he is smelling with his nose closely. Welfare my think upon, homage and to you let it be.)
This son of yours, O foremost of Brāhmaṇas, the serpent, is also smelling you while gazing at you and smelling your feet closely with his nose. Please think of my welfare; and let my homage be to you. (13-105-58)

शिवं सदैवेह सुरेन्द्र तुभ्यं; ध्यायामि पूजां च सदा प्रयुञ्जे। ममापि त्वं शक्र शिवं ददस्व; त्वया दत्तं प्रतिगृह्णामि नागम् ॥१३-१०५-५९॥
śivaṃ sadaiveha surendra tubhyaṃ; dhyāyāmi pūjāṃ ca sadā prayuñje. mamāpi tvaṃ śakra śivaṃ dadasva; tvayā dattaṃ pratigṛhṇāmi nāgam ॥13-105-59॥
[शिवं (śivam) - auspiciousness; सदैव (sadaiva) - always; इह (iha) - here; सुरेन्द्र (surendra) - O lord of gods; तुभ्यं (tubhyaṃ) - to you; ध्येयामि (dhyāyāmi) - I meditate; पूजां (pūjāṃ) - worship; च (ca) - and; सदा (sadā) - always; प्रयुञ्जे (prayuñje) - I perform; ममापि (mamāpi) - also for me; त्वं (tvaṃ) - you; शक्र (śakra) - O Śakra; शिवं (śivam) - auspiciousness; ददस्व (dadasva) - give; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; दत्तं (dattaṃ) - given; प्रतिगृह्णामि (pratigṛhṇāmi) - I accept; नागम् (nāgam) - serpent;]
(Auspiciousness always here, O lord of gods, to you; I meditate, worship and always I perform. Also for me, you, O Śakra, auspiciousness give; given by you, I accept the serpent.)
O lord of gods, I always meditate on auspiciousness for you here, and I always perform worship. O Śakra, you too grant me auspiciousness; I accept the serpent you have given. (13-105-59)

Indra said;
येषां वेदा निहिता वै गुहायां; मनीषिणां सत्त्ववतां महात्मनाम्। तेषां त्वयैकेन महात्मनास्मि; बुद्धस्तस्मात्प्रीतिमांस्तेऽहमद्य ॥१३-१०५-६०॥
yeṣāṃ vedā nihitā vai guhāyāṃ; manīṣiṇāṃ sattvavatāṃ mahātmanām. teṣāṃ tvayaikena mahātmanāsmi; buddhastas mātp rītimāṃs te'hamadya ॥13-105-60॥
[येषां (yeṣām) - of whom; वेदाः (vedāḥ) - the Vedas; निहिताः (nihitāḥ) - are placed; वै (vai) - indeed; गुहायाम् (guhāyām) - in the cave (of the heart); मनीषिणाम् (manīṣiṇām) - of the wise; सत्त्ववताम् (sattvavatām) - of the steadfast in being (sattva); महात्मनाम् (mahātmanām) - of the great-souled; तेषाम् (teṣām) - of them; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; एकेन (ekena) - alone; महात्मना (mahātmanā) - by the great-souled; अस्मि (asmi) - I am; बुद्धः (buddhaḥ) - understood; तस्मात् (tasmāt) - therefore; प्रीतिमान् (prītimān) - full of joy; ते (te) - towards you; अहम् (aham) - I; अद्य (adya) - today;]
(Of whom the Vedas are indeed placed in the cave (of the heart); of the wise, of the steadfast, of the great-souled. Of them, by you alone, by the great-souled, I am understood; therefore, full of joy towards you, I am today.)
Of those wise, steadfast, and great-souled ones in whose hearts the Vedas are truly set, I am understood by you alone, O great-souled one; therefore, today I am full of joy toward you. (13-105-60)
हन्तैहि ब्राह्मण क्षिप्रं सह पुत्रेण हस्तिना। प्राप्नुहि त्वं शुभाँल्लोकानह्नाय च चिराय च ॥१३-१०५-६१॥
hantāiḥ brāhmaṇa kṣipraṃ saha putreṇa hastinā। prāpnuhि tvaṃ śubhāṃllokānahnāya ca cirāya ca ॥13-105-61॥
[हन्तैः (hantāiḥ) - by being killed; by those who kill; ब्राह्मण (brāhmaṇa) - O brāhmaṇa; क्षिप्रं (kṣipram) - quickly; सह (saha) - together with; पुत्रेण (putreṇa) - with (your) son; हस्तिना (hastinā) - by the elephant; प्राप्नुहि (prāpnuhि) - attain; त्वं (tvaṃ) - you; शुभान् (śubhān) - auspicious; लोकान् (lokān) - worlds; अह्नाय (ahnāya) - for a day; (for) the short term; च (ca) - and; चिराय (cirāya) - for a long time; च (ca) - and;]
(By being killed, O brāhmaṇa, quickly together with your son by the elephant, attain you auspicious worlds for a day and for a long time and.)
O brāhmaṇa, may you, being quickly killed together with your son by the elephant, attain auspicious worlds both for a day and for a long time. (13-105-61)

स गौतमं पुरस्कृत्य सह पुत्रेण हस्तिना। दिवमाचक्रमे वज्री सद्भिः सह दुरासदम् ॥१३-१०५-६२॥
sa gautamaṁ puraskṛtya saha putreṇa hastinā। divamācakrame vajrī sadbhiḥ saha durāsadam ॥13-105-62॥
[स (sa) - he; गौतमं (gautamaṁ) - Gautama; पुरस्कृत्य (puraskṛtya) - having placed in front; सह (saha) - with; पुत्रेण (putreṇa) - with (his) son; हस्तिना (hastinā) - with (his) elephant; दिवम् (divam) - heaven; आचक्रमे (ācakrame) - ascended; वज्री (vajrī) - the wielder of the thunderbolt; सद्भिः (sadbhiḥ) - with the good (noble ones); सह (saha) - with; दुरासदम् (durāsadam) - the difficult to approach (abode);]
(He, having placed Gautama in front, with (his) son and elephant, the wielder of the thunderbolt ascended heaven with the good ones to the difficult to approach (abode).)
Having placed Gautama at the forefront, along with his son and elephant, the wielder of the thunderbolt ascended to heaven with the noble ones, to that difficult-to-approach abode. (13-105-62)
