पितामहेन विधिवद्यज्ञाः प्रोक्ता महात्मना। गुणाश्चैषां यथातत्त्वं प्रेत्य चेह च सर्वशः ॥१३-११०-१॥
pitāmahena vidhivad-yajñāḥ proktā mahātmanā। guṇāś caiṣāṃ yathā-tattvaṃ pretya ca iha ca sarvaśaḥ ॥13-110-1॥
[पितामहेन (pitāmahena) - by the grandfather (Brahmā); विधिवत् (vidhivat) - according to the proper rule; यज्ञाः (yajñāḥ) - sacrifices; प्रोक्ता (proktā) - declared; महात्मना (mahātmanā) - by the great-souled one; गुणाः (guṇāḥ) - qualities; च (ca) - and; एषां (eṣāṃ) - of these; यथातत्त्वं (yathā-tattvaṃ) - according to the true nature; प्रेत्य (pretya) - after death; च (ca) - and; इह (iha) - here (in this world); च (ca) - and; सर्वशः (sarvaśaḥ) - entirely;]

(By kings or by princes, O grandsire, it is possible to be attained; not by those deficient in wealth, with defects, with unity of spirit, or by those not united.)

यो दरिद्रैरपि विधिः शक्यः प्राप्तुं सदा भवेत्। तुल्यो यज्ञफलैरेतैस्तन्मे ब्रूहि पितामह ॥१३-११०-४॥

idam aṅgirasā proktam upavāsa-phala-ātmakam। vidhiṁ yajña-phalaiḥ tulyam tan nibodha yudhiṣṭhira ॥13-110-5॥

यस्तु कल्यं तथा सायं भुञ्जानो नान्तरा पिबेत्। अहिंसानिरतो नित्यं जुह्वानो जातवेदसम् ॥१३-११०-६॥
yastu kalyaṃ tathā sāyaṃ bhuñjāno nāntarā pibet। ahiṃsānirato nityaṃ juhvāno jātavedasam ॥13-110-6॥

(Who but in the morning and thus in the evening eating, not in between should drink, devoted to non-violence always, offering to Jātavedas.)
But he who eats in the morning and also in the evening, not drinking in between, always devoted to non-violence, making offerings to Jātavedas (the Fire), (13-110-6)
षड्भिरेव तु वर्षैः स सिध्यते नात्र संशयः। तप्तकाञ्चनवर्णं च विमानं लभते नरः ॥१३-११०-७॥
ṣaḍbhir eva tu varṣaiḥ sa sidhyate nātra saṁśayaḥ। taptakāñcanavarṇaṁ ca vimānaṁ labhate naraḥ॥13-110-7॥
[षड्भिः (ṣaḍbhiḥ) - with six; एव (eva) - indeed; तु (tu) - but; वर्षैः (varṣaiḥ) - years; स (sa) - he; सिध्यते (sidhyate) - is accomplished; नात्र (nātra) - not here; संशयः (saṁśayaḥ) - doubt; तप्तकाञ्चनवर्णं (taptakāñcanavarṇam) - of molten gold color; च (ca) - and; विमानं (vimānam) - celestial vehicle; लभते (labhate) - obtains; नरः (naraḥ) - man;]
(With six indeed but years he is accomplished, not here doubt; of molten gold color and celestial vehicle obtains man.)
There is no doubt that he is accomplished in just six years; the man obtains a celestial vehicle of the color of molten gold. (13-110-7)
देवस्त्रीणामधीवासे नृत्यगीतनिनादिते। प्राजापत्ये वसेत्पद्मं वर्षाणामग्निसंनिभे ॥१३-११०-८॥
devastrīṇām adhivāse nṛtya-gīta-nināditē। prājāpatyē vasēt padmaṃ varṣāṇām agnisaṃnibhē॥13-110-8॥
[देवस्त्रीणाम् (devastrīṇām) - of divine women; अधिवासे (adhivāse) - in the abode; नृत्यगीतनिनादिते (nṛtya-gīta-nināditē) - resounding with dance and song; प्राजापत्ये (prājāpatyē) - in the mansion of Prajāpati; वसेत् (vaset) - should dwell; पद्मम् (padmam) - Padma (lotus); वर्षाणाम् (varṣāṇām) - among the years; अग्निसंनिभे (agnisaṃnibhē) - like fire;]
(In the abode of divine women, resounding with dance and song, in the mansion of Prajāpati, Padma should dwell among the years like fire.)
Padma should reside in the celestial abode of divine women, which is resounding with dance and song, and in the mansion of Prajāpati, shining among the years like fire. (13-110-8)
त्रीणि वर्षाणि यः प्राशेत्सततं त्वेकभोजनम्। धर्मपत्नीरतो नित्यमग्निष्टोमफलं लभेत् ॥१३-११०-९॥
trīṇi varṣāṇi yaḥ prāśet satataṃ tveka-bhojanam। dharma-patnī-rataḥ nityam agniṣṭoma-phalaṃ labhet ॥13-110-9॥
[त्रीणि (trīṇi) - three; वर्षाणि (varṣāṇi) - years; यः (yaḥ) - who; प्राशेत् (prāśet) - should eat; सततं (satataṃ) - continually; त्वेकभोजनम् (tveka-bhojanam) - just one meal; धर्मपत्नीरतः (dharma-patnī-rataḥ) - devoted to (his) lawful wife; नित्यम् (nityam) - always; अग्निष्टोमफलं (agniṣṭoma-phalaṃ) - the fruit (result) of Agniṣṭoma (sacrifice); लभेत् (labhet) - he attains;]
(Who, for three years, should eat continually only one meal, always devoted to (his) lawful wife, he attains the fruit of the Agniṣṭoma sacrifice.)
Whoever, for three years, continually eats only one meal a day and is always devoted to his lawful wife, attains the merit of an Agniṣṭoma sacrifice. (13-110-9)
द्वितीये दिवसे यस्तु प्राश्नीयादेकभोजनम्। सदा द्वादशमासांस्तु जुह्वानो जातवेदसम् ॥ यज्ञं बहुसुवर्णं वा वासवप्रियमाहरेत् ॥१३-११०-१०॥
dvitīye divase yastu prāśnīyādekabhojanam। sadā dvādaśamāsāṃstu juhvāno jātavedasam ॥ yajñaṃ bahusuvarṇaṃ vā vāsavapriyamāharet ॥13-110-10॥
[द्वितीये (dvitīye) - on the second; दिवसे (divase) - day; यः (yaḥ) - who; तु (tu) - but; प्राश्नीयात् (prāśnīyāt) - should eat (parasmaipada opt. of √aś); एकभोजनम् (ekabhojanam) - one meal; सदा (sadā) - always; द्वादशमासान् (dvādaśamāsān) - twelve months; तु (tu) - indeed; जुह्वानः (juhvānaḥ) - offering (oblation); जातवेदसम् (jātavedasam) - to Jātavedas (Agni); यज्ञम् (yajñam) - sacrifice; बहु (bahu) - much; सुवर्णम् (suvarṇam) - gold; वा (vā) - or; वासवप्रियम् (vāsavapriyam) - pleasing to Vāsava (Indra); आहरेत् (āharet) - one would bring;]
(On the second day, indeed, whoever should eat one meal, always for twelve months, is as one offering (oblation) to Jātavedas; a sacrifice with much gold or (gift) pleasing to Vāsava one would bring.)
But he who should eat only one meal on the second day, is regarded as having made oblations to the fire for twelve months and as having performed a sacrifice with much gold or with gifts pleasing to Indra. (13-110-10)
सत्यवाग्दानशीलश्च ब्रह्मण्यश्चानसूयकः। क्षान्तो दान्तो जितक्रोधः स गच्छति परां गतिम् ॥१३-११०-११॥
satyavāgdānaśīlaś ca brahmaṇyaś cān asūyakaḥ. kṣānto dānto jitakrodhaḥ sa gacchati parāṃ gatim ॥13-110-11॥
[सत्यवाक् (satyavāk) - truth-speaking; दानशीलः (dānaśīlaḥ) - one whose nature is giving; च (ca) - and; ब्रह्मण्यः (brahmaṇyaḥ) - devoted to brahman (the sacred or spirituality); च (ca) - and; अनसूयकः (anasūyakaḥ) - free from envy; क्षान्तः (kṣāntaḥ) - forbearing; दान्तः (dāntaḥ) - self-controlled; जितक्रोधः (jitakrodhaḥ) - one who has conquered anger; स (sa) - he; गच्छति (gacchati) - goes; पराम् (parām) - supreme; गतिम् (gatim) - goal;]
(Truth-speaking, whose nature is giving, and devoted to brahman, and free from envy, forbearing, self-controlled, one who has conquered anger, he goes to the supreme goal.)
He who speaks the truth, whose nature is giving, who is devoted to brahman, free from envy, forbearing, self-controlled, and who has conquered anger—he attains the supreme goal. (13-110-11)
पाण्डुराभ्रप्रतीकाशे विमाने हंसलक्षणे। द्वे समाप्ते ततः पद्मे सोऽप्सरोभिर्वसेत्सह ॥१३-११०-१२॥
pāṇḍurābhra-pratīkāśe vimāne haṃsa-lakṣaṇe। dve samāpte tataḥ padme so'psarobhir vaset saha ॥13-110-12॥
[पाण्डुराभ्रप्रतीकाशे (pāṇḍurābhra-pratīkāśe) - having the appearance of a white cloud; विमाने (vimāne) - in the aerial car; हंसलक्षणे (haṃsa-lakṣaṇe) - marked with swan (like a swan); द्वे (dve) - two; समाप्ते (samāpte) - having passed (completed); ततः (tataḥ) - then; पद्मे (padme) - on the lotus; सः (saḥ) - he; अप्सरोभिः (apsarobhiḥ) - with the apsarases; वसेत् (vaset) - he would dwell; सह (saha) - together;]
(In the aerial car resembling a white cloud, marked with a swan, after passing two (stages), then on the lotus, he would dwell together with the apsarases.)
He would dwell together with the apsarases on the lotus, in the aerial car resembling a white cloud and marked with a swan, after completing the two (stages). (13-110-12)
तृतीये दिवसे यस्तु प्राश्नीयादेकभोजनम्। सदा द्वादशमासांस्तु जुह्वानो जातवेदसम् ॥१३-११०-१३॥

Who, on the third day, should eat only one meal, such a person is as if offering oblations to Jātavedas (Agni) continually for twelve months. (13-110-13)
अतिरात्रस्य यज्ञस्य फलं प्राप्नोत्यनुत्तमम्। मयूरहंससंयुक्तं विमानं लभते नरः ॥१३-११०-१४॥
atirātrasya yajñasya phalaṁ prāpnotyanuttamam। mayūra-haṁsa-saṁyuktaṁ vimānaṁ labhate naraḥ ॥13-110-14॥
[अतिरात्रस्य (atirātrasya) - of the atirātra (overnight) (sacrifice); यज्ञस्य (yajñasya) - of the sacrifice; (of the yajña); फलम् (phalam) - fruit; result; reward; प्राप्नोति (prāpnoti) - (he) attains; अनुत्तमम् (anuttamam) - unsurpassed; highest; मयूरहंससंयुक्तम् (mayūra-haṁsa-saṁyuktam) - joined with peacocks and swans; विमानम् (vimānam) - chariot; aerial car; लभते (labhate) - (he) obtains; नरः (naraḥ) - man; person;]
(Of the atirātra sacrifice the result unsurpassed he attains. Chariot joined with peacocks and swans he obtains, the man.)
A man attains the unsurpassed result of the atirātra sacrifice. He obtains a chariot adorned with peacocks and swans. (13-110-14)
सप्तर्षीणां सदा लोके सोऽप्सरोभिर्वसेत्सह। निवर्तनं च तत्रास्य त्रीणि पद्मानि वै विदुः ॥१३-११०-१५॥
saptarṣīṇāṃ sadā loke so'psarobhirvasetsaha। nivartanaṃ ca tatrāsya trīṇi padmāni vai viduḥ ॥13-110-15॥

दिवसे यश्चतुर्थे तु प्राश्नीयादेकभोजनम्। सदा द्वादशमासान्वै जुह्वानो जातवेदसम् ॥१३-११०-१६॥
divase yaś-caturthe tu prāśnīyād-eka-bhojanam। sadā dvādaśa-māsān vai juhvānaḥ jātavedasam॥13-110-16॥

[वाजपेयस्य (vājapeyasya) - of the Vājapeya (sacrifice); यज्ञस्य (yajñasya) - of the sacrifice; फलं (phalam) - fruit; प्राप्नोति (prāpnoti) - he attains; अनुत्तमम् (anuttamam) - unsurpassed; इन्द्रकन्याभिः (indrakanyābhiḥ) - with Indra's maidens (daughters); ऊढं (ūḍham) - ridden; च (ca) - and; विमानं (vimānam) - a celestial chariot; लभते (labhate) - he obtains; नरः (naraḥ) - the man;]
(He attains the unsurpassed fruit of the Vājapeya sacrifice. And the man obtains a celestial chariot ridden by Indra's maidens. (13-110-17))
The man attains the greatest reward of the Vājapeya sacrifice, and also obtains a celestial chariot ridden by Indra's maidens. (13-110-17)
सागरस्य च पर्यन्ते वासवं लोकमावसेत्। देवराजस्य च क्रीडां नित्यकालमवेक्षते ॥१३-११०-१८॥
sāgarasya ca paryante vāsavaṃ lokam āvaset। devarājasya ca krīḍāṃ nityakālam avekṣate ॥13-110-18॥
[सागरस्य (sāgarasya) - of the ocean; च (ca) - and; पर्यन्ते (paryante) - at the boundary; वासवं (vāsavaṃ) - of Vāsava (Indra); लोकम् (lokam) - realm; आवसेत् (āvaset) - would dwell; देवराजस्य (devarājasya) - of the king of the gods; च (ca) - and; क्रीडां (krīḍāṃ) - sport; नित्यकालम् (nityakālam) - at all times; अवेक्षते (avekṣate) - beholds;]
(And at the boundary of the ocean, he would dwell in the realm of Vāsava; and he beholds the sport of the king of the gods at all times.)

अलुब्धः सत्यवादी च ब्रह्मण्यश्चाविहिंसकः। अनसूयुरपापस्थो द्वादशाहफलं लभेत् ॥१३-११०-२०॥
alubdhaḥ satyavādī ca brahmaṇyaś cāvi-hiṁsakaḥ। anasūyur-apāpastho dvādaśāha-phalaṁ labhet ॥13-110-20॥

(Not greedy, speaker of truth, and devoted to brahman and non-violent, not envious, free from sin, the result of a twelve-day (sacrifice) he obtains.)
One who is not greedy, speaks the truth, is devoted to brahman, non-violent, not envious, and free from sin obtains the fruit of a twelve-day sacrifice. (13-110-20)
जाम्बूनदमयं दिव्यं विमानं हंसलक्षणम्। सूर्यमालासमाभासमारोहेत्पाण्डुरं गृहम् ॥१३-११०-२१॥

(Movements four, similarly lotuses twelve, having the measure of a reed-fire, and there he abides happily.)

divase yastu ṣaṣṭhe vai muniḥ prāśeta bhojanam। sadā dvādaśamāsān vai juhvāno jātavedasam ॥13-110-23॥
[दिवसे (divase) - in a day; यः (yaḥ) - who; तु (tu) - but; षष्ठे (ṣaṣṭhe) - on the sixth; वै (vai) - indeed; मुनिः (muniḥ) - sage; प्राशेत (prāśeta) - should eat; भोजनम् (bhojanam) - food; सदा (sadā) - always; द्वादशमासान् (dvādaśamāsān) - twelve months; वै (vai) - indeed; जुह्वानः (juhvānaḥ) - offering (sacrificially); जातवेदसम् (jātavedasam) - to (the deity) Jātavedas (Agni);]
(In a day, who indeed, but on the sixth, the sage should eat food; always, twelve months indeed, offering to Jātavedas.)
If a sage eats food only on the sixth day, always for twelve months he is regarded as one who offers to Jātavedas (Agni). (13-110-23)
सदा त्रिषवणस्नायी ब्रह्मचार्यनसूयकः। गवामयस्य यज्ञस्य फलं प्राप्नोत्यनुत्तमम् ॥१३-११०-२४॥

(Always, one who bathes at the three sandhyās, practicing celibacy and free from envy, obtains the unsurpassed fruit of the sacrifice of cow-dung.)
He who always bathes at the three sandhyās, maintains celibacy, and is free from envy, attains the highest fruit of the sacrifice involving cow-dung. (13-110-24)
अग्निज्वालासमाभासं हंसबर्हिणसेवितम्। शातकुम्भमयं युक्तं साधयेद्यानमुत्तमम् ॥१३-११०-२५॥
agni-jvālā-samābhāsaṃ haṃsa-barhiṇa-sevitam। śātakumbha-mayaṃ yuktaṃ sādhayed yānam uttamam॥13-110-25॥
[अग्निज्वालासमाभासं (agni-jvālā-samābhāsaṃ) - having the appearance like a flame of fire; हंसबर्हिणसेवितम् (haṃsa-barhiṇa-sevitam) - attended by swans and peacocks; शातकुम्भमयम् (śātakumbha-mayam) - made of refined gold; युक्तम् (yuktam) - well-equipped; साधयेत् (sādhayet) - should arrange; यानम् (yānam) - vehicle; उत्तमम् (uttamam) - excellent;]
(Having the appearance like a flame of fire, attended by swans and peacocks, made of refined gold, well-equipped, one should arrange the excellent vehicle.)

(Just so, on the lap of the apsarases, having slept, he awakens by the sound of the anklets and by the ringing of the girdles.)

(Ten million thousand of years, and three hundreds of crores, eighteen padmas as well, and likewise two flags and likewise.)

[अयुतानि (ayutāni) - tens of thousands; च (ca) - and; पञ्चाशत् (pañcāśat) - fifty; ऋक्षचर्मशतस्य (ṛkṣa-carma-śatasya) - of a hundred bear hides; च (ca) - and; लोम्नां (lomnām) - of hairs; प्रमाणेन (pramāṇena) - by the measure; समं (samaṃ) - equally; ब्रह्मलोके (brahmaloke) - in the world of Brahma; महीयते (mahīyate) - is honored;]
(Tens of thousands and fifty, and of a hundred bear hides, by the measure of hairs, equally in the world of Brahma is honored.)

दिवसे सप्तमे यस्तु प्राश्नीयादेकभोजनम्। सदा द्वादशमासान्वै जुह्वानो जातवेदसम् ॥१३-११०-२९॥

(On the seventh day, whoever should eat one meal, always, for twelve months indeed, as if offering to Jātavedas (Agni).)
Whoever eats only one meal on the seventh day, doing so always for twelve months, is as if continually making offerings to Jātavedas (the fire god). (13-110-29)
सरस्वतीं गोपयानो ब्रह्मचर्यं समाचरन्। सुमनोवर्णकं चैव मधुमांसं च वर्जयेत् ॥१३-११०-३०॥
sarasvatīṁ gopayāno brahmacaryaṁ samācaran. sumanovarṇakaṁ caiva madhumāṁsaṁ ca varjayet ॥13-110-30॥
[सरस्वतीं (sarasvatīṁ) - Sarasvatī (the goddess of speech/learning, accusative singular); गोपयानः (gopayānaḥ) - protecting; guarding; preserving; ब्रह्मचर्यं (brahmacaryaṁ) - brahmacarya (celibate discipline; state of studentship; accusative singular); समाचरन् (samācaran) - practising; observing (participle); सुमनोवर्णकं (sumanovarṇakaṁ) - that which is colored like sumana (a flower); which has the color/form of a good flower (accusative singular, usually refers to a vegetable/plant); च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; certainly; मधुमांसं (madhumāṁsaṁ) - honey and meat (compound, accusative singular); च (ca) - and; वर्जयेत् (varjayet) - should avoid; should abstain;]
(Protecting Sarasvatī, practising brahmacarya, one should indeed avoid whatever is colored like sumana and honey and meat.)
While protecting Sarasvatī and practising celibacy, one should certainly abstain from substances with the color of a good flower, as well as honey and meat. (13-110-30)
पुरुषो मरुतां लोकमिन्द्रलोकं च गच्छति। तत्र तत्र च सिद्धार्थो देवकन्याभिरुह्यते ॥१३-११०-३१॥
puruṣo marutāṃ lokam indralokaṃ ca gacchati। tatra tatra ca siddhārtho devakanyābhir uhyate ॥13-110-31॥
[पुरुषः (puruṣaḥ) - man; मरुताम् (marutām) - of the Maruts; लोकम् (lokam) - world; इन्द्रलोकं (indralokam) - Indra's world; च (ca) - and; गच्छति (gacchati) - goes; तत्र तत्र (tatra tatra) - here and there; च (ca) - and; सिद्धार्थः (siddhārthaḥ) - one whose purpose is accomplished; देवकन्याभिः (devakanyābhiḥ) - by divine maidens; उह्यते (uhyate) - is carried;]
(The man goes to the world of the Maruts and to Indra's world. Here and there and, the accomplished one is carried by divine maidens.)

[फलं (phalaṁ) - fruit; result; बहुसुवर्णस्य (bahusuvarṇasya) - of much gold; of abundant gold; यज्ञस्य (yajñasya) - of sacrifice; of the yajña; लभते (labhate) - obtains; gains; नरः (naraḥ) - man; person; सङ्ख्याम् (saṅkhyām) - number; count; अतिगुणां (atiguṇāṁ) - exceeding merits; surpassing qualities; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; even; तेषु (teṣu) - in those; लोकेषु (lokeṣu) - in worlds; मोदते (modate) - rejoices; enjoys;]
(The man obtains the fruit of a sacrifice of much gold; and also enjoys (and) exceeding merits as number in those worlds.)
A man attains the result of a sacrifice performed with abundant gold, and also rejoices in those worlds with merits surpassing number. (13-110-32)
यस्तु संवत्सरं क्षान्तो भुङ्क्तेऽहन्यष्टमे नरः। देवकार्यपरो नित्यं जुह्वानो जातवेदसम् ॥१३-११०-३३॥

[यः (yaḥ) - who; तु (tu) - but; संवत्सरं (saṁvatsaram) - year; क्षान्तः (kṣāntaḥ) - one who has endured; भुङ्क्ते (bhuṅkte) - eats; अहनि (ahani) - on the day; अष्टमे (aṣṭame) - the eighth; नरः (naraḥ) - man; देवकार्यपरः (devakāryaparaḥ) - engaged in divine duties; नित्यम् (nityam) - always; जुह्वानः (juhvānaḥ) - performing offerings; जातवेदसम् (jātavedasam) - to Jātavedas (Agni, the fire deity);]
(Who but year one who has endured eats on the day eighth man; engaged in divine duties always offering to Jātavedas;)
But the man who has endured for a year, who eats on the eighth day, who is always engaged in divine duties, offering to Jātavedas (Agni), (he is praised). (13-110-33)
पौण्डरीकस्य यज्ञस्य फलं प्राप्नोत्यनुत्तमम्। पद्मवर्णनिभं चैव विमानमधिरोहति ॥१३-११०-३४॥
pauṇḍarīkasya yajñasya phalaṃ prāpnotyanuttamam। padmavarṇanibhaṃ caiva vimānamadhirohati ॥13-110-34॥
[पौण्डरीकस्य (pauṇḍarīkasya) - of Pauṇḍarīka; यज्ञस्य (yajñasya) - of the sacrifice; फलं (phalam) - fruit; प्राप्नोति (prāpnoti) - obtains; अनुत्तमम् (anuttamam) - supreme; पद्मवर्णनिभं (padmavarṇanibham) - lotus-hued resembling; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; विमानम् (vimānam) - celestial chariot; अधिरोहति (adhirohati) - ascends;]
(He obtains the supreme fruit of Pauṇḍarīka’s sacrifice. And indeed, he ascends the celestial chariot resembling the color of a lotus.)
He attains the highest result of the sacrifice of Pauṇḍarīka, and furthermore, ascends a celestial chariot shining like a lotus. (13-110-34)
कृष्णाः कनकगौर्यश्च नार्यः श्यामास्तथापराः। वयोरूपविलासिन्यो लभते नात्र संशयः ॥१३-११०-३५॥
kṛṣṇāḥ kanakagauryaś ca nāryaḥ śyāmās tathāparāḥ। vayorūpavilāsinyo labhate nātra saṃśayaḥ॥13-110-35॥
[कृष्णाः (kṛṣṇāḥ) - dark-complexioned women; कनकगौर्यः (kanakagauryaḥ) - (women) fair as gold; च (ca) - and; नार्यः (nāryaḥ) - women; श्यामाः (śyāmāḥ) - dusky (women); तथा (tathā) - likewise; अपराः (aparāḥ) - others; वयोरूपविलासिन्यः (vayorūpavilāsinyaḥ) - delighting in youth and beauty; लभते (labhate) - obtains; न (na) - not; अत्र (atra) - here; संशयः (saṃśayaḥ) - doubt;]
(Dark women, women fair as gold, and dusky women, likewise others; women delighting in youth and beauty obtains, not here doubt.)
Dark-complexioned, golden-fair, and dusky women, as well as others—women delighting in youth and beauty—certainly obtain (enjoyment); there is no doubt about this here. (13-110-35)
यस्तु संवत्सरं भुङ्क्ते नवमे नवमेऽहनि। सदा द्वादशमासान्वै जुह्वानो जातवेदसम् ॥१३-११०-३६॥
yastu saṃvatsaraṃ bhuṅkte navame navame'hani. sadā dvādaśamāsānvai juhvāno jātavedasam ॥13-110-36॥

(Who indeed enjoys the year, on the ninth, on the ninth day, always, the twelve months, offering oblation to Jātavedas;)
But he who, offering oblations to Jātavedas (Agni) always on each ninth day, enjoys the twelve months of the year—(13-110-36)
अश्वमेधस्य यज्ञस्य फलं प्राप्नोति मानवः। पुण्डरीकप्रकाशं च विमानं लभते नरः ॥१३-११०-३७॥
aśvamedhasya yajñasya phalaṁ prāpnoti mānavaḥ। puṇḍarīkaprakāśaṁ ca vimānaṁ labhate naraḥ॥13-110-37॥
[अश्वमेधस्य (aśvamedhasya) - of the horse sacrifice; यज्ञस्य (yajñasya) - of the sacrifice; फलं (phalaṁ) - fruit; result; प्राप्नोति (prāpnoti) - obtains; मानवः (mānavaḥ) - man; human; पुण्डरीकप्रकाशं (puṇḍarīkaprakāśam) - having the brilliance of a white lotus; च (ca) - and; विमानं (vimānam) - celestial vehicle; लभते (labhate) - obtains; नरः (naraḥ) - man; person;]
(A man obtains the fruit of the horse sacrifice; and a man obtains a celestial vehicle shining with the brilliance of a white lotus.)
A man attains the results of the horse sacrifice and also obtains a celestial chariot with the radiance of a white lotus. (13-110-37)
दीप्तसूर्याग्नितेजोभिर्दिव्यमालाभिरेव च। नीयते रुद्रकन्याभिः सोऽन्तरिक्षं सनातनम् ॥१३-११०-३८॥
dīptasūryāgnitejobhir divyamālābhir eva ca। nīyate rudrakanyābhiḥ so'ntarikṣaṃ sanātanam ॥13-110-38॥
[दीप्तसूर्याग्नितेजोभिः (dīpta-sūryāgni-tejobhiḥ) - by the blazing brightness of the Sun and Fire; दिव्यमालाभिः (divya-mālābhiḥ) - by celestial garlands; एव (eva) - indeed; च (ca) - and; नीयते (nīyate) - is conveyed; रुद्रकन्याभिः (rudra-kanyābhiḥ) - by the daughters of Rudra; सः (saḥ) - he; अन्तरिक्षम् (antarikṣam) - the intermediate space (sky); सनातनम् (sanātanam) - eternal;]
(By the blazing brightness of the Sun and Fire, by celestial garlands indeed and, he is conveyed by the daughters of Rudra to the eternal intermediate space (sky).)
He is escorted by the daughters of Rudra, with the blazing brightness of the Sun and Fire and adorned with celestial garlands, to the eternal sky. (13-110-38)
अष्टादशसहस्राणि वर्षाणां कल्पमेव च। कोटीशतसहस्रं च तेषु लोकेषु मोदते ॥१३-११०-३९॥
aṣṭādaśa-sahasrāṇi varṣāṇāṃ kalpam-eva ca। koṭī-śata-sahasraṃ ca teṣu lokeṣu modate॥13-110-39॥

(Eighteen thousand of the years, indeed a kalpa; and a hundred thousand crores too, in those worlds, enjoys.)

yastu saṃvatsaraṃ bhuṅkte daśāhe vai gate gate. sadā dvādaśamāsānvai juhvāno jātavedasam ॥13-110-40॥
[यः (yaḥ) - who; तु (tu) - but; संवत्सरम् (saṃvatsaram) - year; भुङ्क्ते (bhuṅkte) - enjoys; दशाहे (daśāhe) - in the ten-day period; वै (vai) - indeed; गते गते (gate gate) - having gone, having gone; सदा (sadā) - always; द्वादशमासान् (dvādaśamāsān) - twelve months; वै (vai) - indeed; जुह्वानः (juhvānaḥ) - offering (oblation); जातवेदसम् (jātavedasam) - to Jatavedas (Agni, Fire);]
(Who but the year enjoys, in the ten-day period indeed having gone, having gone; always (through) the twelve months indeed offering (oblation) to Jātavedas.)
But he who, during each receding ten-day period throughout the year, always offers oblations to Jātavedas (Agni) during the twelve months, (he enjoys the fruits). (13-110-40)

(In the establishment (constructing or residing) of the daughter of Brahma, and in that which delights all beings, one obtains the unsurpassed result of a thousand horse sacrifices.)
Whoever establishes (a residence for) the daughter of Brahma, which delights all beings, attains the unsurpassed fruit, equal to that of a thousand horse sacrifices. (13-110-41)
रूपवत्यश्च तं कन्या रमयन्ति सदा नरम्। नीलोत्पलनिभैर्वर्णै रक्तोत्पलनिभैस्तथा ॥१३-११०-४२॥
rūpavatyaz ca taṃ kanyā ramayanti sadā naram। nīlotpalanibhair varṇai raktotpalanibhais tathā ॥13-110-42॥

विचित्रमणिमालाभिर्नादितं शङ्खपुष्करैः। स्फाटिकैर्वज्रसारैश्च स्तम्भैः सुकृतवेदिकम् ॥ आरोहति महद्यानं हंससारसवाहनम् ॥१३-११०-४४॥
vicitramaṇimālābhirn̄āditaṃ śaṅkhapuṣkaraiḥ। sphāṭikairvajrasāraiśca stambhaiḥ sukṛtavedikam॥ ārohati mahadyānaṃ haṃsasārasavāhanam॥13-110-44॥
[विचित्रमणिमालाभिः (vicitra-maṇi-mālābhiḥ) - with various (splendid) gem garlands; नादितं (nāditaṃ) - resounding; शङ्खपुष्करैः (śaṅkha-puṣkaraiḥ) - with conch (and) lotuses; स्फाटिकैः (sphāṭikaiḥ) - with crystals; वज्रसारैः (vajra-sāraiḥ) - with diamond-hard (columns); च (ca) - and; स्तम्भैः (stambhaiḥ) - with pillars; सुकृतवेदिकम् (sukṛta-vedikam) - well-made platform; आरोहति (ārohati) - ascends; महद्यानम् (mahat-yānam) - great vehicle; हंससारसवाहनम् (haṃsa-sārasa-vāhanam) - having swans and cranes as vehicles;]
(With various gem garlands, resounding with conches and lotuses, with crystals and diamond-hard pillars, a well-made platform—ascends a great vehicle having swans and cranes as its conveyance.)
A magnificent vehicle, adorned with various gem garlands, resounding with the sound of conches and lotuses, set with crystals and pillars hard as diamond, and having a beautifully crafted platform, ascends—drawn by swans and cranes. (13-110-44)
एकादशे तु दिवसे यः प्राप्ते प्राशते हविः। सदा द्वादशमासान्वै जुह्वानो जातवेदसम् ॥१३-११०-४५॥
ekādaśe tu divase yaḥ prāpte prāśate haviḥ। sadā dvādaśa-māsān vai juhvānaḥ jātavedasam॥13-110-45॥
[एकादशे (ekādaśe) - on the eleventh; तु (tu) - but; दिवसे (divase) - day; यः (yaḥ) - who; प्राप्ते (prāpte) - having arrived; प्राशते (prāśate) - eats (oblations); हविः (haviḥ) - sacrificial oblation; सदा (sadā) - always; द्वादशमासान् (dvādaśa-māsān) - twelve months; वै (vai) - indeed; जुह्वानः (juhvānaḥ) - offering into (the fire); जातवेदसम् (jātavedasam) - to Jātavedas (Agni, Fire);]
(But on the eleventh day, whoever, when it arrives, eats the sacrificial oblation, he always, indeed, (is) offering to Jātavedas (Agni) for twelve months.)
But whoever eats the oblation when the eleventh day arrives is, in effect, offering to Jātavedas (Agni) for twelve months continuously. (13-110-45)
परस्त्रियो नाभिलषेद्वाचाथ मनसापि वा। अनृतं च न भाषेत मातापित्रोः कृतेऽपि वा ॥१३-११०-४६॥
parastriyo nābhilaṣed vā cātha manasāpi vā | anṛtaṃ ca na bhāṣeta mātāpitroḥ kṛte'pi vā ॥13-110-46॥

(Other women not should desire or and also with mind even or; falsehood and not should speak for mother and father for the sake even or.)
One should not desire other women, not even in speech or in mind; nor should one speak falsehood, even for the sake of mother or father. (13-110-46)
अभिगच्छेन्महादेवं विमानस्थं महाबलम्। स्वयम्भुवं च पश्येत विमानं समुपस्थितम् ॥१३-११०-४७॥
abhigacchen mahādevaṃ vimānasthaṃ mahābalam। svayambhuvaṃ ca paśyet vimānaṃ samupasthitam ॥13-110-47॥

कुमार्यः काञ्चनाभासा रूपवत्यो नयन्ति तम्। रुद्राणां तमधीवासं दिवि दिव्यं मनोहरम् ॥१३-११०-४८॥
kumāryaḥ kāñcanābhāsā rūpavatyo nayanti tam। rudrāṇāṃ tamadhīvāsaṃ divi divyaṃ manoharam ॥13-110-48॥

वर्षाण्यपरिमेयानि युगान्तमपि चावसेत्। कोटीशतसहस्रं च दश कोटिशतानि च ॥१३-११०-४९॥
varṣāṇy aparimeyāni yugāntam api ca avaset। koṭīśata-sahasraṃ ca daśa koṭiśatāni ca ॥13-110-49॥
[वर्षाणि (varṣāṇi) - years; अपरिमेयानि (aparimeyāni) - immeasurable; युगान्तम् (yugāntam) - the end of an age; अपि (api) - even; च (ca) - and; अवसेत् (avaset) - he/she/it would remain; कोटीशतसहस्रं (koṭīśata-sahasram) - crores, hundreds, thousands; च (ca) - and; दश (daśa) - ten; कोटिशतानि (koṭiśatāni) - hundreds of crores; च (ca) - and;]
(Years immeasurable, even the end of an age he would remain; crores, hundreds, thousands and ten hundreds of crores and.)
He would remain for immeasurable years, even until the end of an age—ten thousand crores, and hundreds of crores and thousands. (13-110-49)
रुद्रं नित्यं प्रणमते देवदानवसंमतम्। स तस्मै दर्शनं प्राप्तो दिवसे दिवसे भवेत् ॥१३-११०-५०॥
rudraṃ nityaṃ praṇamate devadānavasaṃmatam। sa tasmai darśanaṃ prāpto divase divase bhavet ॥13-110-50॥

दिवसे द्वादशे यस्तु प्राप्ते वै प्राशते हविः। सदा द्वादशमासान्वै सर्वमेधफलं लभेत् ॥१३-११०-५१॥

(On the twelfth day, whoever indeed eats the consecrated food, always indeed for twelve months obtains the fruit of the Sarvamedha sacrifice.)

आदित्यैर्द्वादशैस्तस्य विमानं संविधीयते। मणिमुक्ताप्रवालैश्च महार्हैरुपशोभितम् ॥१३-११०-५२॥
ādityairdvādaśaistasya vimānaṁ saṁvidhīyate। maṇimuktāpravālaiśca mahārhairupaśobhitam ॥13-110-52॥

(By the twelve suns, his palace is constructed. And it is adorned with very valuable gems, pearls, and corals.)

अट्टैर्महद्भिः संयुक्तं ब्रह्मलोके प्रतिष्ठितम्। नित्यमावसते राजन्नरनारीसमावृतम् ॥ ऋषिरेवं महाभागस्त्वङ्गिराः प्राह धर्मवित् ॥१३-११०-५४॥
aṭṭair-mahadbhiḥ saṁyuktaṁ brahmaloke pratiṣṭhitam। nityam āvasate rājannara-nārī-samāvṛtam॥ ṛṣir evaṁ mahābhāgas tvaṅgirāḥ prāha dharmavit॥13-110-54॥
[अट्टैः (aṭṭaiḥ) - with mansions; महद्भिः (mahadbhiḥ) - great; संयुक्तं (saṁyuktam) - joined; ब्रह्मलोके (brahmaloke) - in Brahma-world; प्रतिष्ठितम् (pratiṣṭhitam) - established; नित्यम् (nityam) - always; आवसते (āvasate) - dwells; राजन् (rājan) - O king; नरनारीसमावृतम् (nara-nārī-samāvṛtam) - surrounded by men and women; ऋषिः (ṛṣiḥ) - the sage; एवम् (evam) - thus; महाभागः (mahābhāgaḥ) - greatly fortunate; त्वङ्गिराः (tvaṅgirāḥ) - that Angiras; प्राह (prāha) - spoke; धर्मवित् (dharmavit) - knower of dharma;]
(With great mansions joined, established in Brahma-world, always dwells, O king, surrounded by men and women. The sage thus, greatly fortunate, that Angiras, spoke, knower of dharma. (13-110-54))
O king, there, joined with great mansions and established in the world of Brahma, always dwells surrounded by men and women. Thus the highly fortunate sage Angiras, knower of dharma, spoke. (13-110-54)

रक्तपद्मोदयं नाम विमानं साधयेन्नरः। जातरूपप्रयुक्तं च रत्नसञ्चयभूषितम् ॥१३-११०-५६॥
raktapadmodayaṁ nāma vimānaṁ sādhayennaraḥ। jātarūpaprayuktaṁ ca ratnasañcayabhūṣitam ॥13-110-56॥

(There, a conch-banner and the end of an age, indeed an aeon and ten thousand times ten thousand, also a lotus, an ocean and also should reside.)

गीतगन्धर्वघोषैश्च भेरीपणवनिस्वनैः। सदा प्रमुदितस्ताभिर्देवकन्याभिरीड्यते ॥१३-११०-५९॥
gītagandharvaghoṣaiś ca bherīpaṇavanisvanaiḥ। sadā pramuditās tābhir devakanyābhir īḍyate ॥13-110-59॥
[गीतगन्धर्वघोषैः (gītagandharvaghoṣaiḥ) - by the sounds of songs and Gandharva-s; च (ca) - and; भेरीपणवनिस्वनैः (bherīpaṇavanisvanaiḥ) - by the sounds of drums, lutes, and flutes; सदा (sadā) - always; प्रमुदितः (pramuditaḥ) - delighted; ताभिः (tābhiḥ) - by them; देवकन्याभिः (devakanyābhiḥ) - by the divine maidens; ईड्यते (īḍyate) - is praised;]
(By the sounds of songs and Gandharvas and by the sounds of drums, lutes, and flutes, always delighted, by them, by the divine maidens, he is praised.)
He is always delighted by the sounds of songs, Gandharvas, and the music of drums, lutes, and flutes, and is praised by those divine maidens. (13-110-59)
चतुर्दशे तु दिवसे यः पूर्णे प्राशते हविः। सदा द्वादश मासान्वै महामेधफलं लभेत् ॥१३-११०-६०॥
caturdaśe tu divase yaḥ pūrṇe prāśate haviḥ। sadā dvādaśa māsān vai mahāmedhaphalaṃ labhet ॥13-110-60॥
[चतुर्दशे (caturdaśe) - on the fourteenth; तु (tu) - but; दिवसे (divase) - day; यः (yaḥ) - who; पूर्णे (pūrṇe) - at the full (moon); प्राशते (prāśate) - offers; हविः (haviḥ) - oblation; सदा (sadā) - always; द्वादश (dvādaśa) - twelve; मासान् (māsān) - months; वै (vai) - indeed; महामेधफलं (mahāmedhaphalaṃ) - great-sacrifice fruit; लभेत् (labhet) - obtains;]
(On the fourteenth but day, who at the full (moon) offers oblation, always twelve months indeed great-sacrifice fruit obtains.)
But whoever offers oblation on the fourteenth day at the full moon always obtains the fruit of a great sacrifice for twelve months. (13-110-60)
अनिर्देश्यवयोरूपा देवकन्याः स्वलङ्कृताः। मृष्टतप्ताङ्गदधरा विमानैरनुयान्ति तम् ॥१३-११०-६१॥
anirdeśyavayorūpā devakanyāḥ swalaṅkṛtāḥ। mṛṣṭataptāṅgadadharā vimānair anuyānti tam ॥13-110-61॥

(But he who, at the end of a fortnight, eats one meal, having controlled the senses, always, for twelve months, offering to Jātavedas, attains the unsurpassed fruit of a thousand Rājasūya sacrifices.)

Whoever on the nineteenth day eats one meal, he always beholds the seven worlds for twelve months. (13-110-81)

तत्रामरवरस्त्रीभिर्मोदते विगतज्वरः। दिव्याम्बरधरः श्रीमानयुतानां शतं समाः ॥१३-११०-८३॥

पूर्णेऽथ दिवसे विंशे यो भुङ्क्ते ह्येकभोजनम्। सदा द्वादश मासांस्तु सत्यवादी धृतव्रतः ॥१३-११०-८४॥

अमांसाशी ब्रह्मचारी सर्वभूतहिते रतः। स लोकान्विपुलान्दिव्यानादित्यानामुपाश्नुते ॥१३-११०-८५॥

He who abstains from meat, practices celibacy, and is devoted to the welfare of all beings attains the expansive, divine worlds of the Ādityas. (13-110-85)
गन्धर्वैरप्सरोभिश्च दिव्यमाल्यानुलेपनैः। विमानैः काञ्चनैर्दिव्यैः पृष्ठतश्चानुगम्यते ॥१३-११०-८६॥
gandharvair apsarobhiś ca divya-mālya-anulepanaiḥ। vimānaiḥ kāñcanaiḥ divyaiḥ pṛṣṭhataḥ ca anugamyate ॥13-110-86॥

(The world of Uśanas, divine, the world of Śakra and he attains. Of the Aśvins, of the Maruts and indeed, in pleasures, always delighting.)
He attains the divine world of Uśanas and also the world of Śakra. He is ever delighted in the worlds of the Aśvins, the Maruts, and in pleasures. (13-110-88)
अनभिज्ञश्च दुःखानां विमानवरमास्थितः। सेव्यमानो वरस्त्रीभिः क्रीडत्यमरवत्प्रभुः ॥१३-११०-८९॥
anabhijñaś ca duḥkhānāṃ vimānavaram āsthitaḥ। sevyamāno varastrībhiḥ krīḍaty amaravat prabhuḥ॥13-110-89॥
[अनभिज्ञः (anabhijñaḥ) - ignorant; not knowing; च (ca) - and; दुःखानाम् (duḥkhānām) - of sufferings; विमानवरम् (vimānavaram) - excellent palace; superior aerial mansion; आस्थितः (āsthitaḥ) - having ascended; having occupied; सेव्यमानः (sevyamānaḥ) - being served; वरस्त्रीभिः (varastrībhiḥ) - by excellent women; क्रीडति (krīḍati) - he sports; he enjoys; अमरवत् (amaravat) - like a god; प्रभुः (prabhuḥ) - lord; master;]
(And ignorant of sufferings, having ascended the excellent palace, being served by excellent women, the lord sports like a god.)
Unaware of sufferings, the lord, seated in a splendid aerial palace and attended by noble women, enjoys himself like a god. (13-110-89)
द्वाविंशे दिवसे प्राप्ते यो भुङ्क्ते ह्येकभोजनम्। सदा द्वादश मासान्वै जुह्वानो जातवेदसम् ॥१३-११०-९०॥

When the twenty-second day has come, whoever eats only one meal, is as if always offering to Jātavedas (Agni) for twelve months. (13-110-90)
धृतिमानहिंसानिरतः सत्यवागनसूयकः। लोकान्वसूनामाप्नोति दिवाकरसमप्रभः ॥१३-११०-९१॥
dhṛtimān ahiṁsā-nirataḥ satyavāk anasūyakaḥ। lokān vasūnām āpnoti divākara-sama-prabhaḥ॥13-110-91॥
[धृतिमान् (dhṛtimān) - endowed with fortitude; अहिंसा-निरतः (ahiṁsā-nirataḥ) - devoted to non-injury; सत्यवाक् (satyavāk) - truth-speaking; अनसूयकः (anasūyakaḥ) - free from envy; लोकान् (lokān) - worlds; वसूनाम् (vasūnām) - of the Vasus (divine beings); आप्नोति (āpnoti) - attains; दिवाकर-सम-प्रभः (divākara-sama-prabhaḥ) - having brilliance like the sun;]
(Endowed with fortitude, devoted to non-injury, truth-speaking, free from envy, attains the worlds of the Vasus, having brilliance like the sun.)
One who is endowed with fortitude, devoted to non-injury, speaks the truth, and is free from envy, attains the worlds of the Vasus and shines with brilliance like the sun. (13-110-91)
कामचारी सुधाहारो विमानवरमास्थितः। रमते देवकन्याभिर्दिव्याभरणभूषितः ॥१३-११०-९२॥
kāmacārī sudhāhāro vimānavaramāsthitaḥ। ramate devakanyābhirdivyābharaṇabhūṣitaḥ॥13-110-92॥
[कामचारी (kāmacārī) - moving at will; सुधाहारः (sudhāhāraḥ) - nectar-eater; विमानवरम् (vimānavaram) - excellent aerial car; आस्थितः (āsthitaḥ) - seated upon; रमते (ramate) - enjoys; देवकन्याभिः (devakanyābhiḥ) - with divine maidens; दिव्याभरणभूषितः (divyābharaṇabhūṣitaḥ) - adorned with divine ornaments;]
(Moving at will, nectar-eater, seated upon an excellent aerial car, enjoys with divine maidens, adorned with divine ornaments.)

त्रयोविंशे तु दिवसे प्राशेद्यस्त्वेकभोजनम्। सदा द्वादश मासांस्तु मिताहारो जितेन्द्रियः ॥१३-११०-९३॥
trayoviṃśe tu divase prāśed yastv ekabhojanam. sadā dvādaśa māsāṃs tu mitāhāro jitendriyaḥ ॥13-110-93॥

(On the twenty-third day, but, he should eat who, and, one meal; always, twelve months and, of measured food, with controlled senses.)

वायोरुशनसश्चैव रुद्रलोकं च गच्छति। कामचारी कामगमः पूज्यमानोऽप्सरोगणैः ॥१३-११०-९४॥
vāyor uśanasas caiva rudralokaṃ ca gacchati। kāmacārī kāmagamaḥ pūjyamāno'psarogaṇaiḥ॥13-110-94॥

(Of Vāyu, of Uśanas indeed and also the world of Rudra he goes; moving according to will, going where he desires, being honored by hosts of apsarases.)
He attains the realms of Vāyu, Uśanas, and Rudra; moving at will and going wherever he wishes, he is honored by hosts of apsarases. (13-110-94)
अनेकगुणपर्यन्तं विमानवरमास्थितः। रमते देवकन्याभिर्दिव्याभरणभूषितः ॥१३-११०-९५॥
aneka-guṇa-paryantaṃ vimāna-varam-āsthitaḥ। ramate deva-kanyābhiḥ divya-ābharaṇa-bhūṣitaḥ ॥13-110-95॥
[अनेकगुणपर्यन्तम् (aneka-guṇa-paryantam) - up to many qualities; multiple virtues; endowed with many qualities; विमानवरम् (vimāna-varam) - excellent celestial chariot; splendid aerial car; आस्थितः (āsthitaḥ) - having ascended; being seated; रमते (ramate) - he rejoices; delights; देवकन्याभिः (deva-kanyābhiḥ) - with celestial maidens; with daughters of the gods; दिव्याभरणभूषितः (divya-ābharaṇa-bhūṣitaḥ) - adorned with divine ornaments;]
(Up to many qualities, seated in the excellent celestial chariot, he delights with celestial maidens, adorned with divine ornaments.)
Seated in the most splendid celestial chariot, possessed of many virtues, he enjoys the company of celestial maidens, adorned with divine ornaments. (13-110-95)
चतुर्विंशे तु दिवसे यः प्राशेदेकभोजनम्। सदा द्वादश मासान्वै जुह्वानो जातवेदसम् ॥१३-११०-९६॥
caturviṃśe tu divase yaḥ prāśed ekabhojanam। sadā dvādaśa māsān vai juhvānaḥ jātavedasam॥13-110-96॥

He who, on the twenty-fourth day, eats only one meal, ever for twelve months indeed, is as if offering (oblation) to Jātavedas (Agni). (13-110-96)
आदित्यानामधीवासे मोदमानो वसेच्चिरम्। दिव्यमाल्याम्बरधरो दिव्यगन्धानुलेपनः ॥१३-११०-९७॥
ādityānām adhivāse modamāno vasec ciram। divya-mālyāmbara-dharo divya-gandhānulepanaḥ॥13-110-97॥

(In the residence of the Ādityas, rejoicing, may he dwell for a long time, wearing divine garlands and clothing, anointed with divine fragrances.)
May he rejoice in the abode of the Ādityas and dwell there for a long time, adorned with divine garlands and garments, and anointed with divine fragrances. (13-110-97)
विमाने काञ्चने दिव्ये हंसयुक्ते मनोरमे। रमते देवकन्यानां सहस्रैरयुतैस्तथा ॥१३-११०-९८॥
vimāne kāñcane divye haṃsayukte manarame. ramate devakanyānāṃ sahasrairayutais tathā ॥13-110-98॥
[विमाने (vimāne) - in the aerial chariot; काञ्चने (kāñcane) - golden; दिव्ये (divye) - divine; हंसयुक्ते (haṃsayukte) - joined with swans; मनोरमे (manorame) - beautiful; pleasant; रमते (ramate) - delights; rejoices; देवकन्यानां (devakanyānāṃ) - of celestial maidens; सहस्रैः (sahasraiḥ) - with thousands; अयुतैः (ayutaiḥ) - with tens of thousands; तथा (tathā) - in such a way; likewise;]
(In the aerial chariot golden divine joined with swans beautiful, delights with thousands and tens of thousands of celestial maidens likewise.)

पञ्चविंशे तु दिवसे यः प्राशेदेकभोजनम्। सदा द्वादश मासांस्तु पुष्कलं यानमारुहेत् ॥१३-११०-९९॥
pañcaviṃśe tu divase yaḥ prāśedekabhojanam। sadā dvādaśa māsāṃstu puṣkalaṃ yānamāruhet॥13-110-99॥
[पञ्चविंशे (pañcaviṃśe) - on the twenty-fifth; तु (tu) - but; दिवसे (divase) - day; यः (yaḥ) - who; प्राशेत् (prāśet) - would eat (subjunctive); एकभोजनम् (ekabhojanam) - one meal; सदा (sadā) - always; द्वादश (dvādaśa) - twelve; मासान् (māsān) - months; तु (tu) - but; पुष्कलं (puṣkalam) - abundant; यानम् (yānam) - vehicle; आरुहेत् (āruhet) - would ascend;]
(But on the twenty-fifth day, who would eat one meal, always for twelve months but an abundant vehicle would ascend.)

सिंहव्याघ्रप्रयुक्तैश्च मेघस्वननिनादितैः। रथैः सनन्दिघोषैश्च पृष्ठतः सोऽनुगम्यते ॥१३-११०-१००॥
siṃha-vyāghra-prayuktaiś ca megha-svana-nināditaiḥ rathaiḥ sa-nandighoṣaiś ca pṛṣṭhataḥ so' nugamyate ॥13-110-100॥
[सिंहव्याघ्रप्रयुक्तैः (siṃha-vyāghra-prayuktaiḥ) - by those drawn by lions and tigers; च (ca) - and; मेघस्वननिनादितैः (megha-svana-nināditaiḥ) - resounding with the sound of thunder; रथैः (rathaiḥ) - by chariots; सनन्दिघोषैः (sa-nandighoṣaiḥ) - with joyful sound; च (ca) - and; पृष्ठतः (pṛṣṭhataḥ) - behind; सः (saḥ) - he; अनुगम्यते (anugamyate) - is followed;]

देवकन्यासमारूढै राजतैर्विमलैः शुभैः। विमानमुत्तमं दिव्यमास्थाय सुमनोहरम् ॥१३-११०-१०१॥

tatra kalpa-sahasraṃ vai vasate strī-śata-avṛte| sudhā-rasam ca upajīvan amṛta-upamam uttamam ॥13-110-102॥

(By self-luminous women, abiding in an aerial-car, he is honored. By daughters of Rudras and divine sages, constantly and, he is especially worshipped.)

नानाविधसुरूपाभिर्नानारागाभिरेव च। नानामधुरभाषाभिर्नानारतिभिरेव च ॥१३-११०-१२५॥
nānāvidhasurūpābhir nānārāgābhir eva ca। nānā madhurabhāṣābhir nānāratibhir eva ca॥13-110-125॥

विमाने नगराकारे सूर्यवत्सूर्यसंनिभे। पृष्ठतः सोमसङ्काशे उदक्चैवाभ्रसंनिभे ॥१३-११०-१२६॥
vimāne nagarākāre sūryavatsūryasaṃnibhe। pṛṣṭhataḥ somasaṅkāśe udakcaivābhrosaṃnibhe ॥13-110-126॥
[विमाने (vimāne) - in the aerial chariot; नगराकारे (nagarākāre) - having the form of a city; सूर्यवत् (sūryavat) - like the sun; सूर्यसंनिभे (sūryasaṃnibhe) - resembling the sun; पृष्ठतः (pṛṣṭhataḥ) - behind; सोमसङ्काशे (somasaṅkāśe) - resembling the moon; उदक् (udak) - upwards; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; आभ्रसंनिभे (ābhrosaṃnibhe) - resembling clouds;]
(In the aerial chariot, having the form of a city, like the sun, resembling the sun; behind, resembling the moon; upwards indeed, resembling clouds.)
In the aerial chariot shaped like a city, shining like the sun and resembling the sun, behind which appeared something like the moon, and above, it seemed like a mass of clouds. (13-110-126)
दक्षिणायां तु रक्ताभे अधस्तान्नीलमण्डले। ऊर्ध्वं चित्राभिसङ्काशे नैको वसति पूजितः ॥१३-११०-१२७॥
dakṣiṇāyāṃ tu raktābhe adhastān-nīlamaṇḍale। ūrdhvaṃ citrābhisaṅkāśe naiko vasati pūjitaḥ॥13-110-127॥
[दक्षिणायां (dakṣiṇāyām) - in the southern; तु (tu) - but; रक्ताभे (raktābhe) - red-colored; अधस्तात् (adhastāt) - below; नीलमण्डले (nīlamaṇḍale) - in the blue circle; ऊर्ध्वम् (ūrdhvam) - above; चित्राभिसङ्काशे (citrābhisaṅkāśe) - shining with various hues; न (na) - not; एकः (ekaḥ) - one; वसति (vasati) - dwells; पूजितः (pūjitaḥ) - worshipped;]
(In the southern (direction), but in the red-colored, below in the blue circle; above, shining with various hues, not one dwells worshipped.)
But in the southern region, in the red-hued part, beneath the blue circle and above the multicolored shining one, not a single worshipped one resides. (13-110-127)
यावद्वर्षसहस्रं तु जम्बूद्वीपे प्रवर्षति। तावत्संवत्सराः प्रोक्ता ब्रह्मलोकस्य धीमतः ॥१३-११०-१२८॥
yāvad-varṣa-sahasraṃ tu jambūdvīpe pravarṣati. tāvat-saṃvatsarāḥ proktā brahmalokasya dhīmataḥ ॥13-110-128॥
[यावत् (yāvat) - as many as; as much as; वर्षसहस्रम् (varṣa-sahasram) - a thousand years; तु (tu) - but; indeed; however; जम्बूद्वीपे (jambūdvīpe) - in Jambudvīpa; on the continent Jambudvīpa; प्रवर्षति (pravarṣati) - it rains; it showers; तावत् (tāvat) - just so many; so much; as many; संवत्सराः (saṃvatsarāḥ) - years; प्रोक्ता (proktā) - are said; are declared; ब्रह्मलोकस्य (brahmalokasya) - of Brahmaloka; belonging to the world of Brahman; धीमतः (dhīmataḥ) - of the wise; of the intelligent (here, an epithet for Brahma);]
(As many as the thousand years indeed in Jambudvīpa rain, just so many years are said to be of Brahmaloka of the wise.)
For as many thousand years as it rains in Jambudvīpa, just so many years are said to constitute a year in the world of Brahma, the wise. (13-110-128)
विप्रुषश्चैव यावन्त्यो निपतन्ति नभस्तलात्। वर्षासु वर्षतस्तावन्निवसत्यमरप्रभः ॥१३-११०-१२९॥
vipruṣaś caiva yāvantyo nipatanti nabhas-talāt। varṣāsu varṣatas tāvan nivasaty amara-prabhaḥ ॥13-110-129॥
[विप्रुषः (vipruṣaḥ) - raindrops; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; यावन्त्यः (yāvantyaḥ) - as many as; निपतन्ति (nipatanti) - fall down; नभस्तलात् (nabhas-talāt) - from the sky; वर्षासु (varṣāsu) - during the rains; वर्षतः (varṣataḥ) - raining; तावन् (tāvan) - so long; निवसति (nivasati) - resides; अमरप्रभः (amara-prabhaḥ) - the lord of the immortals;]
(And indeed, as many raindrops fall from the sky during the raining in the rains, so long resides the lord of the immortals.)
And, as many raindrops as fall from the sky during the rainy season, for that long does the lord of the immortals reside there. (13-110-129)
मासोपवासी वर्षैस्तु दशभिः स्वर्गमुत्तमम्। महर्षित्वमथासाद्य सशरीरगतिर्भवेत् ॥१३-११०-१३०॥
māsopavāsī varṣais tu daśabhiḥ svargam uttamam। maharṣitvam athāsādya saśarīragatir bhavet॥13-110-130॥
[मासोपवासी (māsopavāsī) - month-fasting person; वर्षैः (varṣaiḥ) - by years; तु (tu) - but; दशभिः (daśabhiḥ) - with ten; स्वर्गम् (svargam) - heaven; उत्तमम् (uttamam) - highest; महर्षित्वम् (maharṣitvam) - great sage-hood; अथ (atha) - then; आसाद्य (āsādya) - having attained; सशरीरगति (saśarīragati) - going with the body; र्भवेत् (bhavet) - may be;]
(Month-fasting person by years but with ten heaven highest. Great sage-hood then having attained, going with the body may be.)
A person who fasts by the month, through ten years, attains the highest heaven. Then, having attained the state of a great sage, may obtain passage to heaven in the body. (13-110-130)
मुनिर्दान्तो जितक्रोधो जितशिश्नोदरः सदा। जुह्वन्नग्नींश्च नियतः सन्ध्योपासनसेविता ॥१३-११०-१३१॥
munirdānto jitakrodho jitaśiśnodaraḥ sadā। juhvannagnīṁś ca niyataḥ sandhyopāsanasevitā ॥13-110-131॥
[मुनिः (muniḥ) - sage; दान्तः (dāntaḥ) - self-restrained; जितक्रोधः (jitakrodhaḥ) - having conquered anger; जितशिश्नोदरः (jita-śiśno-daraḥ) - having conquered lust (organ) and belly (appetite); सदा (sadā) - always; जुह्वन् (juhvan) - offering (oblations); अग्नीन् (agnīn) - fires; च (ca) - and; नियतः (niyataḥ) - self-controlled; सन्ध्या-उपासन-सेविता (sandhyopāsanasevitā) - engaged in sandhyā worship service;]
(The sage, self-restrained, having conquered anger, having conquered lust and belly, always, offering fires and self-controlled, engaged in sandhyā worship service.)
The sage, who is self-restrained, has conquered anger and the urges of lust and hunger, always offers oblations to the sacred fires, is self-controlled, and devoted to the practice of sandhyā (twilight) worship. (13-110-131)
बहुभिर्नियमैरेवं मासानश्नाति यो नरः। अभ्रावकाशशीलश्च तस्य वासो निरुच्यते ॥१३-११०-१३२॥
bahubhirniyamair evaṁ māsān aśnāti yo naraḥ। abhrāvakāśaśīlaś ca tasya vāso nirucyate ॥13-110-132॥
[बहुभिः (bahubhiḥ) - by many; नियमैः (niyamaiḥ) - restraints; एवम् (evam) - thus; मासान् (māsān) - months (accusative plural); अश्नाति (aśnāti) - spends; यः (yaḥ) - who; नरः (naraḥ) - man; अभ्रावकाशशीलः (abhrāvakāśaśīlaḥ) - cloud-space-dwelling by nature; च (ca) - and; तस्य (tasya) - his; वासः (vāsaḥ) - shelter; निरुच्यते (nirucyate) - is named;]
(By many restraints, thus months he spends, who man; cloud-space-dwelling by nature and his shelter is named.)
A man who spends many months like this with numerous restraints is called one whose shelter is the open sky. (13-110-132)
दिवं गत्वा शरीरेण स्वेन राजन्यथामरः। स्वर्गं पुण्यं यथाकाममुपभुङ्क्ते यथाविधि ॥१३-११०-१३३॥
divaṁ gatvā śarīreṇa svena rājanya-thā-amaraḥ। svargaṁ puṇyaṁ yathā-kāmam-upabhuṅkte yathā-vidhi ॥13-110-133॥
[दिवं (divaṁ) (divaṁ) - heaven; गत्वा (gatvā) (gatvā) - having gone; शरीरेण (śarīreṇa) (śarīreṇa) - with his own body; स्वेन (svena) (svena) - with his own; राजन् (rājan) (rājan) - O king; यथा (yathā) (yathā) - as; अमरः (amaraḥ) (amaraḥ) - the immortal; स्वर्गं (svargaṁ) (svargaṁ) - heaven; पुण्यं (puṇyaṁ) (puṇyaṁ) - merit; यथाकामम् (yathākāmam) (yathākāmam) - as he desires; उपभुङ्क्ते (upabhuṅkte) (upabhuṅkte) - enjoys; यथाविधि (yathāvidhi) (yathāvidhi) - according to rule;]
(Having gone to heaven with his own body, O king, as an immortal, he enjoys the meritorious heaven as he desires, according to rule.)
O king, having reached heaven with his own body, he, like an immortal, enjoys the meritorious heaven according to proper rule, as he wishes. (13-110-133)
एष ते भरतश्रेष्ठ यज्ञानां विधिरुत्तमः। व्याख्यातो ह्यानुपूर्व्येण उपवासफलात्मकः ॥१३-११०-१३४॥
eṣa te bharataśreṣṭha yajñānāṃ vidhiruttamaḥ। vyākhyāto hy anupūrvyeṇa upavāsaphalātmakaḥ ॥13-110-134॥
[एष (eṣa) - this; ते (te) - to you; भरतश्रेष्ठ (bharataśreṣṭha) - O best of the Bharatas; यज्ञानां (yajñānāṃ) - of sacrifices; विधिः (vidhiḥ) - method; उत्तमः (uttamaḥ) - supreme; व्याख्यातः (vyākhyātaḥ) - has been explained; हि (hi) - indeed; अनुपूर्व्येण (anupūrvyeṇa) - in order; उपवासफलात्मकः (upavāsaphalātmakaḥ) - consisting in the fruit of fasting;]
(This to you, O best of the Bharatas, of sacrifices the supreme method has been explained indeed, in order, consisting in the fruit of fasting.)
O best of the Bharatas, to you the supreme method of sacrifices—which consists in the fruit of fasting—has indeed been explained sequentially. (13-110-134)
दरिद्रैर्मनुजैः पार्थ प्राप्यं यज्ञफलं यथा। उपवासमिमं कृत्वा गच्छेच्च परमां गतिम् ॥ देवद्विजातिपूजायां रतो भरतसत्तम ॥१३-११०-१३५॥
daridrairmanujaiḥ pārtha prāpyam yajñaphalaṃ yathā। upavāsam imaṃ kṛtvā gacchet ca paramāṃ gatim॥ devadvijātin-pūjāyāṃ rato bharatasattama॥ 13-110-135॥
[दरिद्रैः (daridraiḥ) - by the poor; मनुजैः (manujaiḥ) - by men; पार्थ (pārtha) - O Pārtha; प्राप्यं (prāpyam) - to be obtained; यज्ञफलं (yajñaphalam) - fruit of sacrifice; यथा (yathā) - as; उपवासम् (upavāsam) - fast; इमं (imaṃ) - this; कृत्वा (kṛtvā) - having performed; गच्छेत् (gacchet) - should go; च (ca) - and; परमां (paramām) - supreme; गतिम् (gatim) - destination; देवद्विजातिपूजायाम् (devadvijātin-pūjāyām) - in worship of gods and twice-born; रतः (rataḥ) - engaged; भरतसत्तम (bharatasattama) - O best of the Bharatas;]
(By the poor men, O Pārtha, as the fruit of sacrifice is to be obtained, having performed this fast, should go and the supreme destination. In worship of gods and twice-born engaged, O best of the Bharatas. (13-110-135))
O Pārtha, by poor men, just as the fruit of sacrifice is to be obtained, by performing this fast, one should attain the supreme goal. Being engaged in the worship of gods and twice-born, O best of the Bharatas. (13-110-135)
उपवासविधिस्त्वेष विस्तरेण प्रकीर्तितः। नियतेष्वप्रमत्तेषु शौचवत्सु महात्मसु ॥१३-११०-१३६॥
upavāsavidhis tveṣa vistareṇa prakīrtitaḥ। niyateṣvapramatteṣu śaucavatsu mahātmasu॥13-110-136॥
[उपवासविधिः (upavāsavidhiḥ) - the procedure of fasting; त् (t) - but; एषः (eṣaḥ) - this; विस्तरेण (vistareṇa) - in detail; प्रकीर्तितः (prakīrtitaḥ) - has been declared; नियतेषु (niyateṣu) - among the restrained; अप्रमत्तेषु (apramatteṣu) - among the vigilant; शौचवत्सु (śaucavatsu) - among those possessing purity; महात्मसु (mahātmasu) - among the great souls;]
(But this procedure of fasting has been declared in detail among the restrained, among the vigilant, among those possessing purity, among the great souls.)
But this procedure of fasting has been described in detail specifically for those who are self-restrained, vigilant, pure, and great-souled individuals. (13-110-136)
दम्भद्रोहनिवृत्तेषु कृतबुद्धिषु भारत। अचलेष्वप्रकम्पेषु मा ते भूदत्र संशयः ॥१३-११०-१३७॥
dambhadroha-nivṛtteṣu kṛtabuddhiṣu bhārata। acaleṣu aprakampeṣu mā te bhūd atra saṁśayaḥ ॥13-110-137॥
[दम्भ (dambha) - hypocrisy; द्रोह (droha) - malice; निवृत्तेषु (nivṛtteṣu) - in those who have ceased; कृतबुद्धिषु (kṛtabuddhiṣu) - in those who have resolved; भारत (bhārata) - O Bhārata; अचलेषु (acaleṣu) - in the unmoving; अप्रकम्पेषु (aprakampeṣu) - in the unshaken; मा (mā) - do not; ते (te) - your; भूत् (bhūt) - be; अत्र (atra) - here; संशयः (saṁśayaḥ) - doubt;]
(In those who have ceased from hypocrisy and malice, who have resolved, O Bhārata, in the unmoving and unshaken ones, may there not be, for you, here, doubt.)
O Bhārata, regarding those who have given up hypocrisy and malice, who have made firm resolve, who are unmoving and unshakable, let there be no doubt for you here. (13-110-137)
