ब्राह्मणानर्चसे राजन्सततं संशितव्रतान्। कं तु कर्मोदयं दृष्ट्वा तानर्चसि नराधिप ॥१३-१४३-१॥
brāhmaṇānarcase rājan satataṃ saṃśitavratān। kaṃ tu karmodayaṃ dṛṣṭvā tānarcasi narādhipa ॥13-143-1॥

(Brāhmaṇas you worship, O king, constantly, those of firm vows. Which but rise of action having seen, them you worship, O lord of men (O king). (13-143-1))
O king, you constantly worship brāhmaṇas who have firm vows. But, having seen which rise of ritual action, whom among them do you worship, O lord of men? (13-143-1)
कां वा ब्राह्मणपूजायां व्युष्टिं दृष्ट्वा महाव्रत। तानर्चसि महाबाहो सर्वमेतद्वदस्व मे ॥१३-१४३-२॥
kāṁ vā brāhmaṇapūjāyāṁ vyuṣṭiṁ dṛṣṭvā mahāvrata। tānarcasi mahābāho sarvametad vadasva me ॥13-143-2॥
[कां (kāṁ) - which; वा (vā) - or; ब्राह्मणपूजायां (brāhmaṇapūjāyāṁ) - in the worship of brāhmaṇas; व्युष्टिं (vyuṣṭim) - absence (deficiency); दृष्ट्वा (dṛṣṭvā) - having seen; महाव्रत (mahāvrata) - O great vow (one who has taken great vows); तान् (tān) - them; अर्चसि (arcasi) - do you worship; महाबाहो (mahābāho) - O mighty-armed; सर्वम् (sarvam) - all; एतत् (etat) - this; वदस्व (vadasva) - please tell; मे (me) - to me;]
(Which or in the worship of brāhmaṇas, the absence having seen, O great vow, them do you worship, O mighty-armed? All this please tell to me.)
O mighty-armed, having seen what deficiency in the worship of brāhmaṇas, O great vow-bearer, do you worship them? Please tell me all this. (13-143-2)

एष ते केशवः सर्वमाख्यास्यति महामतिः। व्युष्टिं ब्राह्मणपूजायां दृष्टव्युष्टिर्महाव्रतः ॥१३-१४३-३॥
eṣa te keśavaḥ sarvam ākhyāsyati mahāmatiḥ। vyuṣṭiṃ brāhmaṇapūjāyāṃ dṛṣṭavyuṣṭir mahāvrataḥ॥13-143-3॥
[एष (eṣa) - this; ते (te) - to you; केशवः (keśavaḥ) - Keśava; सर्वम् (sarvam) - all; आख्यास्यति (ākhyāsyati) - will tell; महामतिः (mahāmatiḥ) - great-minded; व्युष्टिं (vyuṣṭim) - dawn; ब्राह्मणपूजायाम् (brāhmaṇapūjāyām) - in the worship of the Brāhmaṇa; दृष्टव्युष्टिः (dṛṣṭavyuṣṭiḥ) - having seen the dawn; महाव्रतः (mahāvrataḥ) - the great vow-holder;]
(This to you Keśava all will tell, great-minded; the dawn, in the worship of the Brāhmaṇa, having seen the dawn, the great vow-holder.)
This Keśava, great of intellect, will tell you everything; at dawn, during the worship of the Brāhmaṇa, having seen the dawn, the great vow-observer. (13-143-3)
बलं श्रोत्रे वाङ्मनश्चक्षुषी च; ज्ञानं तथा न विशुद्धं ममाद्य। देहन्यासो नातिचिरान्मतो मे; न चातितूर्णं सविताद्य याति ॥१३-१४३-४॥
balaṃ śrotre vāṅ-manaś-cakṣuṣī ca; jñānaṃ tathā na viśuddhaṃ mamādya। dehanyāso nāticirān-mato me; na cātitūrṇaṃ savitādya yāti ॥13-143-4॥
[बलं (balaṃ) - strength; श्रोत्रे (śrotre) - in the ear; वाङ्मनः (vāṅ-manaḥ) - speech-mind; चक्षुषी (cakṣuṣī) - in the eyes; च (ca) - and; ज्ञानं (jñānam) - knowledge; तथा (tathā) - likewise; न (na) - not; विशुद्धं (viśuddham) - pure; मम (mama) - of me; अद्य (adya) - today; देहन्यासः (dehanyāsaḥ) - placement of the body; न (na) - not; अतिचिरात् (aticirāt) - for a very long time; मतः (mataḥ) - considered; मे (me) - by me; न (na) - not; च (ca) - and; अतितूर्णं (atitūrṇam) - very quickly; सविता (savitā) - the sun; अद्य (adya) - today; याति (yāti) - goes;]
(Strength in the ear, speech-mind, and eyes, and knowledge likewise, is not pure of me today. Placement of the body is not considered by me as (for) a very long time, and the sun also does not go very quickly today.)
Today, my strength in hearing, speech, mind, and vision, as well as my knowledge, is not clear. I do not consider establishing the body to take too long, and the sun too does not travel very quickly today. (13-143-4)
उक्ता धर्मा ये पुराणे महान्तो; ब्राह्मणानां क्षत्रियाणां विशां च। पौराणं ये दण्डमुपासते च; शेषं कृष्णादुपशिक्षस्व पार्थ ॥१३-१४३-५॥

(Spoken dharmas which in the Purāṇa (are) great (for) Brāhmaṇas, Kṣatriyas, and Vaiśyas; ancient who rod (discipline) worship also; the rest from Kṛṣṇa learn, O Pārtha.)
The duties which are declared in the Purāṇa as great for Brāhmaṇas, Kṣatriyas, and Vaiśyas, and those who follow the ancient discipline, O Pārtha, the rest learn from Kṛṣṇa. (13-143-5)
अहं ह्येनं वेद्मि तत्त्वेन कृष्णं; योऽयं हि यच्चास्य बलं पुराणम्। अमेयात्मा केशवः कौरवेन्द्र; सोऽयं धर्मं वक्ष्यति संशयेषु ॥१३-१४३-६॥
ahaṃ hyenaṃ vedmi tattvena kṛṣṇaṃ; yo'yaṃ hi yaccāsya balaṃ purāṇam। ameyātmā keśavaḥ kauravendra; so'yaṃ dharmaṃ vakṣyati saṃśayeṣu ॥13-143-6॥
[अहं (ahaṃ) - I; हि (hi) - indeed; एनम् (enam) - this (person); वेद्मि (vedmi) - I know; तत्त्वेन (tattvena) - in truth; कृष्णम् (kṛṣṇam) - Kṛṣṇa; यः (yaḥ) - who; अयम् (ayam) - he; हि (hi) - indeed; यत् (yat) - what; च (ca) - and; अस्य (asya) - his; बलम् (balam) - strength; पुराणम् (purāṇam) - ancient; अमेयात्मा (ameyātmā) - of immeasurable soul; केशवः (keśavaḥ) - Keśava; कौरवेन्द्र (kauravendra) - O chief of the Kauravas; सः (saḥ) - he; अयम् (ayam) - this (person); धर्मम् (dharmaṃ) - dharma; वक्ष्यति (vakṣyati) - will declare; संशयेषु (saṃśayeṣu) - in doubts;]
(I indeed know this Kṛṣṇa in truth; who indeed he is and also what his ancient strength is. The one of immeasurable soul, Keśava—this one, O chief of the Kauravas, will declare dharma in (times of) doubts.)
I truly know this Kṛṣṇa, who he is, and the ancientness of his strength. Keśava, whose soul is immeasurable—he will declare dharma in times of doubt, O chief of the Kauravas. (13-143-6)
कृष्णः पृथ्वीमसृजत्खं दिवं च; वराहोऽयं भीमबलः पुराणः। अस्य चाधोऽथान्तरिक्षं दिवं च; दिशश्चतस्रः प्रदिशश्चतस्रः ॥ सृष्टिस्तथैवेयमनुप्रसूता; स निर्ममे विश्वमिदं पुराणम् ॥१३-१४३-७॥
kṛṣṇaḥ pṛthvīmasṛjat khaṃ divaṃ ca; varāho'yaṃ bhīmabalaḥ purāṇaḥ. asya cādho'thāntarikṣaṃ divaṃ ca; diśaś catasraḥ pradiśaś catasraḥ ॥ sṛṣṭis tathaiveyam anuprasūtā; sa nirmame viśvam idaṃ purāṇam ॥13-143-7॥
[कृष्णः (kṛṣṇaḥ) - Kṛṣṇa; (the one who is dark/black; a name of Viṣṇu); पृथ्वीम् (pṛthvīm) - earth (accusative singular); असृजत् (asṛjat) - created; (he sent forth; expelled); खं (khaṃ) - sky; ether; दिवं (divaṃ) - heaven; (sky, atmosphere); च (ca) - and; वराहः (varāhaḥ) - boar; (incarnation of Viṣṇu); अयम् (ayam) - this; भीमबलः (bhīmabalaḥ) - of terrible strength; पुराणः (purāṇaḥ) - ancient; (primeval); अस्य (asya) - of this; च (ca) - and; अधः (adhaḥ) - below; downward; अथ (atha) - then; also; अन्तरिक्षं (antarikṣaṃ) - atmosphere; midspace; दिवं (divaṃ) - heaven; (sky, atmosphere); च (ca) - and; दिशः (diśaḥ) - directions; quarters; चतस्रः (catasraḥ) - four (feminine); प्रदिशः (pradiśaḥ) - sub-directions; intermediate directions; चतस्रः (catasraḥ) - four (feminine); सृष्टिः (sṛṣṭiḥ) - creation; तथा (tathā) - thus; in this way; एव (eva) - indeed; just so; इयम् (iyam) - this (feminine); अनुप्रसूता (anuprasūtā) - subsequently produced; born after; स (sa) - he; निर्ममे (nirmame) - created; fashioned; विश्वम् (viśvam) - universe; all; इदं (idaṃ) - this; पुराणम् (purāṇam) - ancient; primeval;]
(Kṛṣṇa created the earth, the sky, and heaven; this boar of terrible strength, the ancient one. And of this, below and then the atmosphere and heaven; four directions and four sub-directions. Thus this creation indeed has been subsequently produced; he created this ancient universe.)
Kṛṣṇa created the earth, the sky, and heaven; this boar of immense strength, the ancient one. And for this, beneath is the nether region, then the atmosphere and heaven; there are four directions and four intermediate directions. Thus, this creation has arisen in just this way; he fashioned this ancient universe. (13-143-7)
अस्य नाभ्यां पुष्करं सम्प्रसूतं; यत्रोत्पन्नः स्वयमेवामितौजाः। येनाच्छिन्नं तत्तमः पार्थ घोरं; यत्तत्तिष्ठत्यर्णवं तर्जयानम् ॥१३-१४३-८॥
asya nābhyāṃ puṣkaraṃ samprasūtaṃ; yatrotpannaḥ svayamevāmitaujāḥ। yenāchinnaṃ tattamaḥ pārtha ghoraṃ; yattattiṣṭhatyarṇavaṃ tarjayānam ॥13-143-8॥
[अस्य (asya) - of this; नाभ्यां (nābhyām) - from the navel; पुष्करं (puṣkaram) - lotus; सम्प्रसूतं (samprasūtam) - completely sprung up; यत्र (yatra) - where; उत्पन्नः (utpannaḥ) - born; स्वयमेव (svayameva) - by himself only; अमितौजाः (amitaujāḥ) - of immeasurable energy; येन (yena) - by whom; आच्छिन्नं (āchinnaṃ) - has been cut off; तत्तमः (tattamaḥ) - that darkness; पार्थ (pārtha) - O Pārtha; घोरं (ghoram) - terrible; यत् (yat) - which; तत्तिष्ठति (tattiṣṭhati) - that remains; अर्णवं (arṇavam) - ocean; तर्जयानम् (tarjayānam) - threatening (or frightening);]
(From his navel the lotus is completely sprung up; where was born by himself indeed one of immeasurable energy. By whom that terrible darkness, O Pārtha, has been cut off; which that ocean threatening remains.)
From his navel arose a lotus, on which was born, by himself alone, one of immeasurable energy. By whom that terrible darkness, O Pārtha, was dispelled; and there remains that ocean, fearsome and formidable. (13-143-8)
कृते युगे धर्म आसीत्समग्र; स्त्रेताकाले ज्ञानमनुप्रपन्नः। बलं त्वासीद्द्वापरे पार्थ कृष्णः; कलावधर्मः क्षितिमाजगाम ॥१३-१४३-९॥
kṛte yuge dharma āsītsamagra; stretākāle jñānam anuprapannaḥ। balaṁ tv āsīd dvāpare pārtha kṛṣṇaḥ; kalāvadharmaḥ kṣitim ājagāma ॥13-143-9॥
[कृते युगे (kṛte yuge) - in the Kṛta Yuga; in the age called Kṛta; धर्म (dharma) - righteousness; law; आसीत् (āsīt) - was; समग्र (samagra) - entire; complete; स्त्रेताकाले (stretākāle) - in the Tretā age; at the time called Tretā; ज्ञानम् (jñānam) - knowledge; अनुप्रपन्नः (anuprapannaḥ) - was attained; बलम् (balaṁ) - strength; तु (tu) - but; आसीत् (āsīt) - was; द्वापरे (dvāpare) - in Dvāpara (age); पार्थ (pārtha) - O son of Pṛthā; Arjuna; कृष्णः (kṛṣṇaḥ) - Kṛṣṇa; कलौ (kalau) - in the Kali age; अधर्मः (adharmaḥ) - unrighteousness; क्षितिम् (kṣitim) - earth; आजगाम (ājagāma) - came; arrived;]
(In the Kṛta Yuga, righteousness was complete; in the Tretā age, knowledge was attained. But in the Dvāpara, O Pārtha, strength was; in the Kali age, unrighteousness came to earth.)
In the Kṛta Yuga, righteousness was complete; in the Tretā Yuga, knowledge prevailed. In the Dvāpara Yuga, O Pārtha, strength was dominant; but in the Kali Yuga, unrighteousness descended upon the earth. (13-143-9)
स पूर्वदेवो निजघान दैत्या; न्स पूर्वदेवश्च बभूव सम्राट्। स भूतानां भावनो भूतभव्यः; स विश्वस्यास्य जगतश्चापि गोप्ता ॥१३-१४३-१०॥
sa pūrvadevo nijaghāna daityān; sa pūrvadevaś ca babhūva samrāṭ। sa bhūtānāṃ bhāvano bhūtabhavyaḥ; sa viśvasyāsya jagataś cāpi goptā॥13-143-10॥
[स (sa) - he; पूर्वदेवः (pūrvadevaḥ) - the ancient god; निजघान (nijaghāna) - slew; दैत्यान् (daityān) - demons; सः (saḥ) - he; पूर्वदेवः (pūrvadevaḥ) - the ancient god; च (ca) - and; बभूव (babhūva) - became; सम्राट् (samrāṭ) - sovereign; सः (saḥ) - he; भूतानाम् (bhūtānām) - of beings; भावनः (bhāvanaḥ) - producer; भूतभव्यः (bhūtabhavyaḥ) - of the past and future; सः (saḥ) - he; विश्वस्य (viśvasya) - of the universe; अस्य (asya) - this; जगतः (jagataḥ) - of the world; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; गोप्ता (goptā) - protector; ॥१३-१४३-१०॥ (॥13-143-10॥) -;]
(He the ancient god slew demons; he the ancient god and became sovereign. He of beings producer of past and future; he of the universe of this world and also protector.)
He, the ancient god, slew the demons; he, the ancient god, also became the sovereign. He is the creator of beings, the lord of past and future; he is also the guardian of this world and all the universe. (13-143-10)
यदा धर्मो ग्लायति वै सुराणां; तदा कृष्णो जायते मानुषेषु। धर्मे स्थित्वा स तु वै भावितात्मा; परांश्च लोकानपरांश्च याति ॥१३-१४३-११॥
yadā dharmo glāyati vai surāṇāṃ; tadā kṛṣṇo jāyate mānuṣeṣu. dharme sthitvā sa tu vai bhāvitātmā; parāṃś ca lokān aparāṃś ca yāti ॥13-143-11॥
[यदा (yadā) - when; धर्मः (dharmaḥ) - dharma; ग्लायति (glāyati) - declines; वै (vai) - indeed; सुराणाम् (surāṇām) - of the gods; तदा (tadā) - then; कृष्णः (kṛṣṇaḥ) - Kṛṣṇa; जायते (jāyate) - is born; मानुषेषु (mānuṣeṣu) - among men; धर्मे (dharme) - in dharma; स्थित्वा (sthitvā) - having abided; सः (saḥ) - he; तु (tu) - but; वै (vai) - indeed; भावितात्मा (bhāvitātmā) - possessing a purified self; परान् (parān) - higher (worlds); च (ca) - and; लोकान् (lokān) - worlds; अपरान् (aparān) - lower (worlds); च (ca) - and; याति (yāti) - he attains;]
(When dharma indeed declines of the gods, then Kṛṣṇa is born among men. In dharma having abided, he but indeed, possessing a purified self, both higher worlds and lower worlds he attains.)
Whenever dharma of the gods declines, then Kṛṣṇa is born among men. Abiding in dharma, he, possessing a purified self, attains both the higher and the lower worlds. (13-143-11)
त्याज्यांस्त्यक्त्वाथासुराणां वधाय; कार्याकार्ये कारणं चैव पार्थ। कृतं करिष्यत्क्रियते च देवो; मुहुः सोमं विद्धि च शक्रमेतम् ॥१३-१४३-१२॥
tyājyāṃstyaktvāthāsurāṇāṃ vadhāya; kāryākārye kāraṇaṃ caiva pārtha. kṛtaṃ kariṣyatkriyate ca devo; muhuḥ somaṃ viddhi ca śakrametam ॥13-143-12॥
[त्याज्यान् (tyājyān) - those to be abandoned; त्यक्त्वा (tyaktvā) - having abandoned; अथ (atha) - then; असुराणाम् (asurāṇām) - of the asuras (demons); वधाय (vadhāya) - for the killing; कार्याकार्ये (kāryākārye) - in (matters of) what should be done and not done; कारणम् (kāraṇam) - the cause; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; पार्थ (pārtha) - O Pārtha (Arjuna); कृतम् (kṛtam) - what is done; करिष्यत् (kariṣyat) - what will be done; क्रियते (kriyate) - what is being done; च (ca) - and; देवः (devaḥ) - the god; मुहुः (muhuḥ) - again and again; सोमम् (somaṃ) - Soma; विद्धि (viddhi) - know; च (ca) - and; शक्रम् (śakram) - Śakra (Indra); एतम् (etam) - this;]
(Having abandoned those to be abandoned, then, for the killing of the asuras; in what should and should not be done, the cause indeed—O Pārtha!—what is done, what will be done, what is being done also, the god, again and again; Soma know, and this Śakra.)
O Pārtha, having given up those who should be abandoned, for the destruction of the asuras: in matters of what should and should not be done, the true cause, indeed, is the god—everything done, to be done, or being done happens through him; know Soma and this Śakra to be the same. (13-143-12)
स विश्वकर्मा स च विश्वरूपः; स विश्वभृद्विश्वसृग्विश्वजिच्च। स शूलभृच्छोणितभृत्कराल; स्तं कर्मभिर्विदितं वै स्तुवन्ति ॥१३-१४३-१३॥
sa viśvakarmā sa ca viśvarūpaḥ; sa viśvabhṛd-viśvasṛg-viśvajic ca. sa śūlabhṛc choṇitabhṛt-karāla; staṃ karmabhir viditaṃ vai stuvanti ॥13-143-13॥
[स (sa) - he; विश्वकर्मा (viśvakarmā) - all-doer; स (sa) - he; च (ca) - and; विश्वरूपः (viśvarūpaḥ) - having all forms; स (sa) - he; विश्वभृत् (viśvabhṛt) - supporter of all; विश्वसृक् (viśvasṛk) - creator of all; विश्वजित् (viśvajit) - conqueror of all; च (ca) - and; स (sa) - he; शूलभृत् (śūlabhṛt) - bearer of the trident; शोणितभृत् (śoṇitabhṛt) - bearer of blood; कराल (karāla) - terrible; स्तम् (staṃ) - him; कर्मभिः (karmabhiḥ) - by actions; विदितम् (viditam) - known; वै (vai) - indeed; स्तुवन्ति (stuvanti) - they praise;]
(He all-doer, he and having all forms; he supporter of all, creator of all, and conqueror of all. He bearer of trident, bearer of blood, terrible; him, known by actions, indeed, they praise (13-143-13))
He is the all-doer, he is also of all forms; he is the supporter, creator, and conqueror of all. He is the wielder of the trident, the bearer of blood, the fearsome one; him, known by his deeds, they indeed praise. (13-143-13)
तं गन्धर्वा अप्सरसश्च नित्य; मुपतिष्ठन्ते विबुधानां शतानि। तं राक्षसाश्च परिसंवहन्ते; रायस्पोषः स विजिगीषुरेकः ॥१३-१४३-१४॥
taṁ gandharvā apsarasaś ca nitya; mupatiṣṭhante vibudhānāṁ śatāni। taṁ rākṣasāś ca parisaṁvahante; rāyaspoṣaḥ sa vijigīṣur ekaḥ ॥13-143-14॥
[तं (taṁ) - him; गन्धर्वा (gandharvā) - Gandharvas; अप्सरसश्च (apsarasaś ca) - and Apsarases; नित्य (nitya) - always; मुपतिष्ठन्ते (mupatiṣṭhante) - (they) attend on; विबुधानां (vibudhānāṁ) - of the gods; शतानि (śatāni) - hundreds; तं (taṁ) - him; राक्षसाश्च (rākṣasāś ca) - and Rākṣasas; परिसंवहन्ते (parisaṁvahante) - (they) massage all around; रायस्पोषः (rāyaspoṣaḥ) - prosperity (of wealth); स (sa) - he; विजिगीषुरेकः (vijigīṣur ekaḥ) - alone desirous of victory;]

Possessing great brilliance, all-pervading, the lion among all, Kṛṣṇa upholds the worlds thus alone. Eating and not eating, in like manner, the wise (should) always approach Kṛṣṇa, O Pārtha, as the doer.)
He with a single-yoked wheel, this one of three naves, drawn by seven horses, moves on having three abodes. Endowed with great brilliance, pervading all, lion of all, Kṛṣṇa alone upholds the worlds. Whether eating or not eating, likewise the wise should always, O Pārtha, approach Kṛṣṇa as the doer. (13-143-22)

(He once, entered the enclosure, the great-souled, satisfied, the all-pervader, in Khāṇḍava, Dhūmaketu. He, having conquered those favored by Rākṣasas and, the one who goes everywhere, offers all into the fire.)

(And he who knows the Vedas, the presiding deity; and he who resorts to the rites and the Purāṇas; whatever fruit is (obtained) in desire, in the Veda, in the worldly (sphere), and O Viṣvaksena, all this understand.)
O Viṣvaksena, know and understand all this: whoever knows the Vedas (the presiding deity), whoever resorts to rites and Purāṇas, and whatever fruit in desire, in the Veda, and in the world—know all this.
ज्योतींषि शुक्लानि च सर्वलोके; त्रयो लोका लोकपालास्त्रयश्च। त्रयोऽग्नयो व्याहृतयश्च तिस्रः; सर्वे देवा देवकीपुत्र एव ॥१३-१४३-२९॥

(Lights bright and in all worlds; three worlds, protectors of worlds three and; three fires, vyāhṛtis and three; all gods the son of Devakī indeed.)
The bright lights in all worlds, the three worlds, the three guardians of the worlds, the three fires, and the three vyāhṛtis—indeed, all these gods are the son of Devakī. (13-143-29)
संवत्सरः स ऋतुः सोऽर्धमासः; सोऽहोरात्रः स कला वै स काष्ठाः। मात्रा मुहूर्ताश्च लवाः क्षणाश्च; विष्वक्सेने सर्वमेतत्प्रतीहि ॥१३-१४३-३०॥

(Year, he, season, he, half-month, he, day-and-night, he, part, indeed, he, time-divisions; measure, muhurtas and instants, moments and; O Viṣvaksena, all this know.)
O Viṣvaksena, know that the year is he, the season is he, the half-month is he, the day-and-night is he, the part is indeed he, the time-divisions are he; measures, muhurtas and instants and moments—all this is he. (13-143-30)
चन्द्रादित्यौ ग्रहनक्षत्रताराः; सर्वाणि दर्शान्यथ पौर्णमास्यः। नक्षत्रयोगा ऋतवश्च पार्थ; विष्वक्सेनात्सर्वमेतत्प्रसूतम् ॥१३-१४३-३१॥

(moon and sun; planets, constellations, stars; all new moon sacrifices and also full moon sacrifices; junctions of constellations, seasons and O Pārtha; from Viṣvaksena all this is produced.)
O Pārtha, the moon and sun, planets, constellations, stars, all new and full moon sacrifices, the conjunctions of constellations and the seasons — all this is produced from Viṣvaksena. (13-143-31)
रुद्रादित्या वसवोऽथाश्विनौ च; साध्या विश्वे मरुतां षड्गणाश्च। प्रजापतिर्देवमातादितिश्च; सर्वे कृष्णादृषयश्चैव सप्त ॥१३-१४३-३२॥

वायुर्भूत्वा विक्षिपते च विश्व; मग्निर्भूत्वा दहते विश्वरूपः। आपो भूत्वा मज्जयते च सर्वं; ब्रह्मा भूत्वा सृजते विश्वसङ्घान् ॥१३-१४३-३३॥

(Having become the wind, he scatters the universe; having become fire, the one of universal form burns; having become waters, he makes all sink; having become Brahmā, he creates all the world groups.)
Becoming the wind, he scatters the universe; as fire, the all-formed one burns; as water, he submerges everything; as Brahmā, he creates the worlds. (13-143-33)
वेद्यं च यद्वेदयते च वेदा; न्विधिश्च यश्चाश्रयते विधेयान्। धर्मे च वेदे च बले च सर्वं; चराचरं केशवं त्वं प्रतीहि ॥१३-१४३-३४॥

(That which is to be known and which the Vedas make known, and the ritual injunction, and who depends on that which is to be enjoined. In dharma, in the Veda, and in strength, all the moving and unmoving—Keśava, you perceive.)
That which is to be known, which the Vedas reveal, the ritual injunction and that which relies on what is enjoined—in dharma, in the Veda, in strength, all that is moving and unmoving, O Keśava, you comprehend all of it. (13-143-34)
ज्योतिर्भूतः परमोऽसौ पुरस्ता; त्प्रकाशयन्प्रभया विश्वरूपः। अपः सृष्ट्वा ह्यात्मभूरात्मयोनिः; पुराकरोत्सर्वमेवाथ विश्वम् ॥१३-१४३-३५॥
jyotirbhūtaḥ paramo'sau purastāt prakāśayan prabhayā viśvarūpaḥ| apaḥ sṛṣṭvā hyātmabhūr ātmayonih purākarot sarvam evātha viśvam॥13-143-35॥

(Having become light, the supreme (being), that (one) at first, illuminating with radiance, of universal form, having created waters indeed, self-born, of self as origin, formerly did all indeed, then (created) the universe.)
That supreme being, having become light and appearing first, illuminating with his radiance, and of universal form, indeed created the waters—he, self-born and self-originated, formerly made all this and then the entire universe. (13-143-35)
ऋतूनुत्पातान्विविधान्यद्भुतानि; मेघान्विद्युत्सर्वमैरावतं च। सर्वं कृष्णात्स्थावरं जङ्गमं च; विश्वाख्याताद्विष्णुमेनं प्रतीहि ॥१३-१४३-३६॥
ṛtūnutpātān vividhāny adbhutāni; meghān vidyut sarvam airāvataṁ ca। sarvaṁ kṛṣṇāt sthāvaraṁ jaṅgamaṁ ca; viśvākhyātād viṣṇum enaṁ pratīhi॥13-143-36॥

(seasons; portents; various; wondrous things; clouds; lightning; all; Airāvata; and; all; from Kṛṣṇa; the stationary; the moving; and; from the renowned-in-the-world; Viṣṇu; this; perceive.)
Perceive seasons, portents, various wondrous things, clouds, lightning, everything, Airāvata and all that is stationary and moving from Kṛṣṇa—perceive this Viṣṇu who is renowned in the world. (13-143-36)
विश्वावासं निर्गुणं वासुदेवं; सङ्कर्षणं जीवभूतं वदन्ति। ततः प्रद्युम्नमनिरुद्धं चतुर्थ; माज्ञापयत्यात्मयोनिर्महात्मा ॥१३-१४३-३७॥
viśvāvāsaṃ nirguṇaṃ vāsudevaṃ; saṅkarṣaṇaṃ jīvabhūtaṃ vadanti. tataḥ pradyumnam aniruddhaṃ caturtha; mājñāpayaty ātmayonir mahātmā ॥13-143-37॥

(One who is the abode of all, devoid of qualities, Vāsudeva; Saṅkarṣaṇa, consisting of living being, they say. Thereafter, Pradyumna, Aniruddha, the fourth, self-born, great soul, commands.)
They say that Vāsudeva, the abode of all and devoid of qualities, is followed by Saṅkarṣaṇa, who constitutes the living being; then come Pradyumna and Aniruddha as the third and fourth. The self-born great soul commands thus. (13-143-37)
स पञ्चधा पञ्चजनोपपन्नं; सञ्चोदयन्विश्वमिदं सिसृक्षुः। ततश्चकारावनिमारुतौ च; खं ज्योतिरापश्च तथैव पार्थ ॥१३-१४३-३८॥
sa pañcadhā pañcajanopapannaṃ; sañcodayan viśvam idaṃ sisṛkṣuḥ. tataś cakārāvanim ārutau ca; khaṃ jyotir āpaś ca tathaiva pārtha ॥13-143-38॥

sa sthāvaraṃ jaṅgamaṃ caivameta; caturvidhaṃ lokamimaṃ ca kṛtvā. tato bhūmiṃ vyadadhātpañca-bījāṃ; dyauḥ pṛthivyāṃ dhāsyati bhūri vāri ॥ tena viśvaṃ kṛtametaddhi rājan; sa jīvatyātmanaivātmayoniḥ ॥13-143-39॥

(He, having made this fourfold world, both immobile and mobile, then established the earth with five seeds. Heaven will place abundant water on the earth. By him, O king, indeed, this universe was created. That self-born one himself gives life by himself.)

tato devānasurān mānuṣāṁś ca; lokān ṛṣīṁś cātha pitṝn prajāś ca. samāsena vividhān prāṇilokān sarvān sadā bhūtapatiḥ sisṛkṣuḥ ॥13-143-40॥

शुभाशुभं स्थावरं जङ्गमं च; विष्वक्सेनात्सर्वमेतत्प्रतीहि। यद्वर्तते यच्च भविष्यतीह; सर्वमेतत्केशवं त्वं प्रतीहि ॥१३-१४३-४१॥

(Auspicious inauspicious, immobile, mobile and; all this from Viṣvaksena know. Which exists and which will be here; all this Keśava you know. (13-143-41))
Know that all things, whether auspicious or inauspicious, immobile or mobile, come from Viṣvaksena. Whatever exists here and whatever will exist hereafter—know all this is Keśava, you. (13-143-41)
मृत्युश्चैव प्राणिनामन्तकाले; साक्षात्कृष्णः शाश्वतो धर्मवाहः। भूतं च यच्चेह न विद्म किं चि; द्विष्वक्सेनात्सर्वमेतत्प्रतीहि ॥१३-१४३-४२॥

(Death and indeed, at the last time of living beings; directly Kṛṣṇa, eternal bearer of dharma. That which has existed and which here we know not anything; from Dviṣvaksena (Kṛṣṇa), all this you must understand.)
Death at the last moment of living beings is verily Kṛṣṇa himself, the eternal bearer of dharma. Whatever has existed, and whatever here we do not know—understand all this as coming from Dviṣvaksena (Kṛṣṇa). (13-143-42)
यत्प्रशस्तं च लोकेषु पुण्यं यच्च शुभाशुभम्। तत्सर्वं केशवोऽचिन्त्यो विपरीतमतो भवेत् ॥१३-१४३-४३॥
yat praśastaṃ ca lokeṣu puṇyaṃ yac ca śubhāśubham। tat sarvaṃ keśavo'cintyo viparītam ato bhavet ॥13-143-43॥
[यत् (yat) - which; प्रशस्तं (praśastam) - praised; च (ca) - and; लोकेषु (lokeṣu) - in worlds; पुण्यं (puṇyam) - merit; यत् (yat) - which; च (ca) - and; शुभाशुभम् (śubhāśubham) - auspicious and inauspicious; तत् (tat) - that; सर्वं (sarvam) - all; केशवः (keśavaḥ) - Keśava; अचिन्त्यः (acintyaḥ) - inconceivable; विपरीतम् (viparītam) - the reverse; अतः (ataḥ) - therefore; भवेत् (bhavet) - may be;]
(Which is praised and in worlds merit, and which auspicious and inauspicious; all that, Keśava (the inconceivable one), may be the reverse, therefore.)
Whatever is praised or virtuous or considered auspicious or inauspicious in the worlds, all that, in the case of the inconceivable Keśava, may be the reverse. (13-143-43)
एतादृशः केशवोऽयं स्वयम्भू; र्नारायणः परमश्चाव्ययश्च। मध्यं चास्य जगतस्तस्थुषश्च; सर्वेषां भूतानां प्रभवश्चाप्ययश्च ॥१३-१४३-४४॥
etādṛśaḥ keśavo'yaṃ svayambhūr nārāyaṇaḥ paramaś cāvyayaś ca. madhyaṃ cāsya jagatas tasthuṣaś ca; sarveṣāṃ bhūtānāṃ prabhavaś cāpyayaś ca ॥13-143-44॥
