ते समेत्य यथान्यायं पाण्डवा वृष्णिभिः सह। विविशुः सहिता राजन्पुरं वारणसाह्वयम् ॥१४-७०-२॥

तदुपश्रुत्य ते कर्म वासुदेवस्य धीमतः। पूजार्हं पूजयामासुः कृष्णं देवकिनन्दनम् ॥१४-७०-९॥
tad-upaśrutya te karma vāsudevasya dhīmataḥ। pūjārhaṃ pūjayāmāsuḥ kṛṣṇaṃ devakinandanam ॥14-70-9॥

Upon hearing of that deed of wise Vāsudeva, they worshipped Kṛṣṇa, the son of Devakī, as he was worthy of worship. (14-70-9)
ततः कतिपयाहस्य व्यासः सत्यवतीसुतः। आजगाम महातेजा नगरं नागसाह्वयम् ॥१४-७०-१०॥
tataḥ katipayāhasya vyāsaḥ satyavatī-sutaḥ। ājagāma mahā-tejā nagaraṃ nāga-sāhvayam॥14-70-10॥

After a few days, the illustrious Vyāsa, son of Satyavatī, arrived at the city called Nāgasāhvaya. (14-70-10)
तस्य सर्वे यथान्यायं पूजां चक्रुः कुरूद्वहाः। सह वृष्ण्यन्धकव्याघ्रैरुपासां चक्रिरे तदा ॥१४-७०-११॥
tasya sarve yathā-nyāyaṃ pūjāṃ cakruḥ kurūdvahāḥ। saha vṛṣṇy-andhaka-vyāghraiḥ upāsāṃ cakrire tadā ॥14-70-11॥

तत्र नानाविधाकाराः कथाः समनुकीर्त्य वै। युधिष्ठिरो धर्मसुतो व्यासं वचनमब्रवीत् ॥१४-७०-१२॥
tatra nānāvidhākārāḥ kathāḥ samanukīrtya vai। yudhiṣṭhiro dharmasuto vyāsaṃ vacanamabravīt॥14-70-12॥

anujānāmi rājaṁs tvāṁ kriyatāṁ yad anantaram। yajasva vājimedhena vidhivad dakṣiṇāvatā ॥14-70-15॥
[अनुजानामि (anujānāmi) - I permit; राजन् (rājan) - O king; त्वाम् (tvām) - you; क्रियताम् (kriyatām) - let it be done; यत् (yat) - that which; अनन्तरम् (anantaram) - immediately; यजस्व (yajasva) - sacrifice (impv.); वाजिमेधेन (vājimedhena) - with the horse-sacrifice; विधिवत् (vidhivat) - according to rule; दक्षिणावत् (dakṣiṇāvat) - with (ample) gifts;]

O king, I permit you; let that which must follow be done. Perform the horse-sacrifice with proper gifts according to the rules. (14-70-15)
अश्वमेधो हि राजेन्द्र पावनः सर्वपाप्मनाम्। तेनेष्ट्वा त्वं विपाप्मा वै भविता नात्र संशयः ॥१४-७०-१६॥
aśvamedho hi rājendra pāvanaḥ sarvapāpmānām। teneṣṭvā tvaṁ vipāpmā vai bhavitā nātra saṁśayaḥ॥14-70-16॥

(Horse-sacrifice indeed O king of kings purifier of all sins. By that having worshipped you sinless indeed will become not here doubt.)
O king of kings, the horse-sacrifice is indeed a purifier of all sins. By performing it, you will indeed become sinless; there is no doubt about this. (14-70-16)

समनुज्ञाप्य तु स तं कृष्णद्वैपायनं नृपः। वासुदेवमथामन्त्र्य वाग्मी वचनमब्रवीत् ॥१४-७०-१८॥
samanujñāpya tu sa taṃ kṛṣṇadvaipāyanaṃ nṛpaḥ। vāsudevam atha āmantrya vāgmī vacanam abravīt ॥14-70-18॥

त्वत्प्रभावार्जितान्भोगानश्नीम यदुनन्दन। पराक्रमेण बुद्ध्या च त्वयेयं निर्जिता मही ॥१४-७०-२०॥

[त्वत्-प्रभाव-अर्जितान् (tvat-prabhāva-arjitān) - acquired by your power; भोगान् (bhogān) - enjoyments; अश्नीमि (aśnīmi) - I enjoy; यदु-नन्दन (yadu-nandana) - O son of Yadu; पराक्रमेण (parākrameṇa) - by valor; बुद्ध्या (buddhyā) - by intelligence; च (ca) - and; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; इयं (iyaṁ) - this; निर्जिता (nirjitā) - has been conquered; मही (mahī) - the earth;]
(The enjoyments acquired by your power I enjoy, O son of Yadu. By valor and by intelligence also, by you this earth has been conquered.)
O son of Yadu, the enjoyments that I partake are acquired by your power. Indeed, by your valor and intelligence, this earth has been conquered. (14-70-20)
दीक्षयस्व त्वमात्मानं त्वं नः परमको गुरुः। त्वयीष्टवति धर्मज्ञ विपाप्मा स्यामहं विभो ॥ त्वं हि यज्ञोऽक्षरः सर्वस्त्वं धर्मस्त्वं प्रजापतिः ॥१४-७०-२१॥
dīkṣayasva tvam ātmānaṁ tvaṁ naḥ paramako guruḥ। tvayi iṣṭavati dharmajña vipāpmā syām ahaṁ vibho ॥ tvaṁ hi yajño'kṣaraḥ sarvas tvaṁ dharmas tvaṁ prajāpatiḥ ॥14-70-21॥
[दीक्षयस्व (dīkṣayasva) - consecrate (me); त्वम् (tvam) - you; आत्मानम् (ātmānam) - myself; त्वम् (tvam) - you; नः (naḥ) - our; परमकः (paramakaḥ) - supreme; गुरुः (guruḥ) - teacher; त्वयि (tvayi) - in you; इष्टवति (iṣṭavati) - when worshipped; धर्मज्ञ (dharmajña) - knower of dharma; विपाप्मा (vipāpmā) - free from sin; स्याम् (syām) - may I become; अहम् (aham) - I; विभो (vibho) - O mighty one; त्वम् (tvam) - you; हि (hi) - indeed; यज्ञः (yajñaḥ) - sacrifice; अक्षरः (akṣaraḥ) - imperishable; सर्वः (sarvaḥ) - all; त्वम् (tvam) - you; धर्मः (dharmaḥ) - dharma; त्वम् (tvam) - you; प्रजापतिः (prajāpatiḥ) - Prajapati;]
(Consecrate (me) you myself; you our supreme teacher. In you when worshipped, knower of dharma, free from sin may I become, I, O mighty one. You indeed sacrifice, imperishable, all you, dharma you, Prajapati.)
You consecrate me; you are our supreme teacher. When you are worshipped, O knower of dharma, may I, O mighty one, become free from sin. Indeed, you are the sacrifice, the imperishable, you are all, you are dharma, you are Prajapati. (14-70-21)

त्वमेवैतन्महाबाहो वक्तुमर्हस्यरिंदम। त्वं गतिः सर्वभूतानामिति मे निश्चिता मतिः ॥१४-७०-२२॥
tvam eva etan mahā-bāho vaktum arhasi ariṁ-dama। tvaṁ gatiḥ sarva-bhūtānām iti me niścitā matiḥ॥14-70-22॥
[त्वम् (tvam) - you; एव (eva) - indeed; एतत् (etat) - this; महाबाहो (mahā-bāho) - O mighty-armed; वक्तुम् (vaktum) - to speak; अर्हसि (arhasi) - you are worthy; अरिंदम (ariṁ-dama) - O subduer of enemies; त्वम् (tvam) - you; गतिः (gatiḥ) - the course; सर्वभूतानाम् (sarva-bhūtānām) - of all beings; इति (iti) - thus; मे (me) - my; निश्चिता (niścitā) - determined; मतिः (matiḥ) - thought;]
(You indeed this, O mighty-armed, to speak are worthy, O subduer of enemies. You the course of all beings—thus my determined thought.)
You alone, O mighty-armed, are worthy to speak this, O subduer of enemies. You are the path of all beings—this is my firm conviction. (14-70-22)
त्वं चाद्य कुरुवीराणां धर्मेणाभिविराजसे। गुणभूताः स्म ते राजंस्त्वं नो राजन्मतो गुरुः ॥१४-७०-२३॥
tvaṁ cādya kuru-vīrāṇāṁ dharmeṇābhivirājase। guṇa-bhūtāḥ sma te rājan tvaṁ no rājan-mato guruḥ॥14-70-23॥
[त्वं (tvaṁ) - you; च (ca) - and; आद्य (ādya) - today (now); कुरुवीराणां (kuru-vīrāṇām) - of the heroes of the Kuru dynasty; धर्मेण (dharmeṇa) - with righteousness; अभिविराजसे (abhivirājase) - shine forth; गुणभूताः (guṇa-bhūtāḥ) - having become an attribute; स्म (sma) - indeed; ते (te) - your; राजन् (rājan) - O king; त्वं (tvaṁ) - you; नः (naḥ) - for us; राजन् (rājan) - O king; मतः (mataḥ) - regarded (as); गुरुः (guruḥ) - teacher;]
(You and today of the heroes of the Kurus with righteousness shine forth. Becoming an attribute indeed your, O king, you for us, O king, regarded teacher.)
Today, you shine forth with righteousness among the heroes of the Kuru dynasty. O king, the qualities have indeed become yours; you are regarded by us as our teacher, O king. (14-70-23)
यजस्व मदनुज्ञातः प्राप्त एव क्रतुर्मया। युनक्तु नो भवान्कार्ये यत्र वाञ्छसि भारत ॥ सत्यं ते प्रतिजानामि सर्वं कर्तास्मि तेऽनघ ॥१४-७०-२४॥
yajasva mad-anujñātaḥ prāpta eva kratur-mayā। yunaktu no bhavān kārye yatra vāñchasi bhārata॥ satyaṁ te pratijānāmi sarvaṁ kartāsmi te'nagha॥14-70-24॥
[यजस्व (yajasva) - sacrifice; (you) perform; मदनुज्ञातः (mad-anujñātaḥ) - having been permitted by me; प्राप्तः (prāptaḥ) - obtained; fulfilled; एव (eva) - indeed; surely; क्रतुः (kratuḥ) - sacrifice; ritual; मया (mayā) - by me; युनक्तु (yunaktu) - may (he) join; may (he) unite; नः (naḥ) - us; for us; भवान् (bhavān) - yourself; you (honorific); कार्ये (kārye) - in the action; in the work; यत्र (yatra) - where; वाञ्छसि (vāñchasi) - you desire; you wish; भारत (bhārata) - O Bhārata; सत्यं (satyaṁ) - truth; truly; ते (te) - to you; for you; प्रतिजानामि (pratijānāmi) - I promise; I declare; सर्वं (sarvaṁ) - all; everything; कर्तास्मि (kartāsmi) - I am the doer; I will do; ते (te) - for you; to you; अनघ (anagha) - O sinless one; १४-७०-२४ (14-70-24) - (14-70-24);]
(Perform sacrifice, having been permitted by me, indeed the very sacrifice is obtained by me. May yourself join us in the work where you wish, O Bhārata. Truly, I promise to you, I will do everything for you, O sinless one. (14-70-24))
Perform the sacrifice, having received my permission, for the sacrifice is indeed accomplished by me. You may join us in the work wherever you desire, O Bhārata. Truly, I promise you, O sinless one, I will fulfill everything for you. (14-70-24)
भीमसेनार्जुनौ चैव तथा माद्रवतीसुतौ। इष्टवन्तो भविष्यन्ति त्वयीष्टवति भारत ॥१४-७०-२५॥
bhīmasenārjunau caiva tathā mādravatīsutau। iṣṭavanto bhaviṣyanti tvayīṣṭavati bhārata ॥14-70-25॥
[भीमसेनार्जुनौ (bhīmasenārjunau) - Bhīmasena and Arjuna; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; तथा (tathā) - as well; माद्रवतीसुतौ (mādravatīsutau) - the two sons of Mādravatī; इष्टवन्तः (iṣṭavantaḥ) - having performed the sacrifice; भविष्यन्ति (bhaviṣyanti) - will become; त्वयि (tvayi) - when you; इष्टवति (iṣṭavati) - having performed the sacrifice; भारत (bhārata) - O Bhārata (descendant of Bharata);]
(Bhīmasena and Arjuna and indeed as well the two sons of Mādravatī, having performed the sacrifice, will become (so), when you, O Bhārata, have performed the sacrifice.)
O Bhārata, Bhīmasena, Arjuna, and also the two sons of Mādravatī will perform the sacrifice after you have performed the sacrifice. (14-70-25)
