एवं त्रिरात्रमभवत्तद्युद्धं भरतर्षभ। अर्जुनस्य नरेन्द्रेण वृत्रेणेव शतक्रतोः ॥१४-७५-१॥
evaṃ trirātram abhavat tad yuddhaṃ bharatarṣabha। arjunasya narendreṇa vṛtreṇa eva śatakratoḥ ॥14-75-1॥
[एवं (evaṃ) - thus; त्रिरात्रम् (trirātram) - for three nights; अभवत् (abhavat) - happened; तत् (tat) - that; युद्धम् (yuddham) - battle; भरतर्षभ (bharatarṣabha) - bull among the Bharatas; अर्जुनस्य (arjunasya) - of Arjuna; नरेन्द्रेण (narendreṇa) - with the king; वृत्रेण (vṛtreṇa) - with Vṛtra; इव (iva) - like; शतक्रतोः (śatakratoḥ) - of Indra;]
(Thus for three nights that battle happened, bull among the Bharatas, of Arjuna with the king, like of Vṛtra with Indra.)
Thus, O bull among the Bharatas, that battle between Arjuna and the king went on for three nights, like the conflict between Vṛtra and Indra. (14-75-1)
ततश्चतुर्थे दिवसे वज्रदत्तो महाबलः। जहास सस्वनं हासं वाक्यं चेदमथाब्रवीत् ॥१४-७५-२॥
tataś caturthe divase vajradatto mahābalaḥ। jahāsa sa-svanaṃ hāsaṃ vākyaṃ ca idam atha abravīt॥14-75-2॥

(Then, on the fourth day, Vajradatta, mighty, laughed a resounding laughter and then spoke this speech.)
Then on the fourth day, the mighty Vajradatta laughed loudly and then spoke these words. (14-75-2)
अर्जुनार्जुन तिष्ठस्व न मे जीवन्विमोक्ष्यसे। त्वां निहत्य करिष्यामि पितुस्तोयं यथाविधि ॥१४-७५-३॥
arjunārjuna tiṣṭhasva na me jīvan vimokṣyase। tvām nihatya kariṣyāmi pitus toyaṃ yathā-vidhi ॥14-75-3॥

("O Arjuna, Arjuna, stand; you shall not escape alive from me. Having slain you, I shall perform the water offering to my father according to the rule." (14-75-3))
"Arjuna, Arjuna, stand your ground! You will not escape alive from me. Having slain you, I shall perform the water-rite for my father as prescribed." (14-75-3)
त्वया वृद्धो मम पिता भगदत्तः पितुः सखा। हतो वृद्धोऽपचायित्वाच्छिशुं मामद्य योधय ॥१४-७५-४॥
tvayā vṛddho mama pitā bhagadattaḥ pituḥ sakhā। hato vṛddho'pachāyitvā chśiśuṃ mām adya yodhay ॥14-75-4॥
[त्वया (tvayā) - by you; वृद्धः (vṛddhaḥ) - the old one; मम (mama) - my; पिता (pitā) - father; भगदत्तः (bhagadattaḥ) - Bhagadatta; पितुः (pituḥ) - of father; सखा (sakhā) - friend; हतः (hataḥ) - has been slain; वृद्धः (vṛddhaḥ) - the old one; अपचायित्वा (apachāyitvā) - after honoring; छिशुं (chśiśuṃ) - child; माम् (mām) - me; अद्य (adya) - today; योधय (yodhay) - cause to fight (me);]
(By you, the old one, my father Bhagadatta, friend of (my) father, has been slain. Having honored the old one, today make me, the child, fight.)
By you, my aged father Bhagadatta, the friend of my father, has been killed. Now, after honoring the elder, set me, the child, to fight today. (14-75-4)
इत्येवमुक्त्वा सङ्क्रुद्धो वज्रदत्तो नराधिपः। प्रेषयामास कौरव्य वारणं पाण्डवं प्रति ॥१४-७५-५॥
ityevam uktvā saṅkruddho vajradatto narādhipaḥ। preṣayāmāsa kauravya vāraṇaṃ pāṇḍavaṃ prati ॥14-75-5॥

(Thus having spoken, greatly enraged, Vajradatta, the king, sent the elephant towards the Pāṇḍava, O descendant of Kuru.)
After speaking thus and being greatly enraged, King Vajradatta sent the elephant toward the Pāṇḍava, O Kauravya. (14-75-5)
सम्प्रेष्यमाणो नागेन्द्रो वज्रदत्तेन धीमता। उत्पतिष्यन्निवाकाशमभिदुद्राव पाण्डवम् ॥१४-७५-६॥
saṁpreṣyamāṇo nāgendro vajradattena dhīmatā। utpatiṣyannivākāśam abhidudrāva pāṇḍavam॥14-75-6॥

अग्रहस्तप्रमुक्तेन शीकरेण स फल्गुनम्। समुक्षत महाराज शैलं नील इवाम्बुदः ॥१४-७५-७॥
agrahasta-pramuktena śīkareṇa sa phalgunam। samukṣata mahārāja śailaṃ nīla ivāmbudaḥ॥14-75-7॥

O great king, he showered Arjuna with the missile released from his foremost hand, like a dark cloud showers a mountain. (14-75-7)
स तेन प्रेषितो राज्ञा मेघवन्निनदन्मुहुः। मुखाडम्बरघोषेण समाद्रवत फल्गुनम् ॥१४-७५-८॥
sa tena preṣito rājñā meghavat-ninadann muhuḥ. mukhāḍambara-ghoṣeṇa samādravata phalgūnam ॥14-75-8॥
[स (sa) - he; तेन (tena) - by him; प्रेषितः (preṣitaḥ) - sent; राज्ञा (rājñā) - by the king; मेघवत् (meghavat) - like a cloud; निनदन् (ninadan) - roaring; मुहुः (muhuḥ) - repeatedly; मुखाडम्बरघोषेण (mukhāḍambara-ghoṣeṇa) - with a sound of mouth display; सम् (sam) - together, towards; आद्रवत् (ādravat) - ran swiftly; फल्गुनम् (phalgūnam) - towards Phalguna (Arjuna);]
(He by him sent by the king, like a cloud roaring repeatedly, with a sound of mouth display ran swiftly towards Phalguna.)
He, sent by the king, roared repeatedly like a cloud and, making a display of sound from his mouth, rushed quickly towards Phalguna (Arjuna). (14-75-8)
स नृत्यन्निव नागेन्द्रो वज्रदत्तप्रचोदितः। आससाद द्रुतं राजन्कौरवाणां महारथम् ॥१४-७५-९॥
sa nṛtyann iva nāgendro vajradattapracoditaḥ। āsasāda drutaṃ rājann kauravāṇāṃ mahā-ratham ॥14-75-9॥

(He, dancing as if, the lord of serpents, impelled by Vajradatta, quickly approached, O king, the great chariot of the Kauravas.)
He, O king, like a dancing lord of serpents impelled by Vajradatta, quickly approached the Kauravas' great chariot. (14-75-9)
तमापतन्तं सम्प्रेक्ष्य वज्रदत्तस्य वारणम्। गाण्डीवमाश्रित्य बली न व्यकम्पत शत्रुहा ॥१४-७५-१०॥
tam āpatantaṃ samprekṣya vajradattasya vāraṇam। gāṇḍīvam āśritya balī na vyakampata śatruhā ॥14-75-10॥
[तम् (tam) - him; आपतन्तम् (āpatantam) - rushing; सम्प्रेक्ष्य (samprekṣya) - having seen; वज्रदत्तस्य (vajradattasya) - of Vajradatta; वारणम् (vāraṇam) - elephant; गाण्डीवम् (gāṇḍīvam) - Gāṇḍīva; आश्रित्य (āśritya) - having taken refuge in; बली (balī) - the strong (one); न (na) - not; вЯкम्पत (vyakampata) - was shaken; शत्रुहा (śatruhā) - slayer of enemies;]
(Having seen him, rushing, the elephant of Vajradatta, having taken refuge in Gāṇḍīva, the strong (slayer of enemies) was not shaken.)
Seeing Vajradatta's elephant rushing at him, the strong slayer of enemies, relying on his Gāṇḍīva, was not shaken. (14-75-10)
चुक्रोध बलवच्चापि पाण्डवस्तस्य भूपतेः। कार्यविघ्नमनुस्मृत्य पूर्ववैरं च भारत ॥१४-७५-११॥
cukrodha balavaccāpi pāṇḍavas tasya bhūpateḥ। kāryavighnam anusmṛtya pūrvavairaṃ ca bhārata॥14-75-11॥
[चुक्रोध (cukrodha) - became angry; बलवत् (balavat) - strongly; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; पाण्डवः (pāṇḍavaḥ) - the son of Pāṇḍu; तस्य (tasya) - of him; भूपतेः (bhūpateḥ) - of the king; कार्यविघ्नम् (kāryavighnam) - obstruction to the action; अनुस्मृत्य (anusmṛtya) - remembering; पूर्ववैरम् (pūrvavairam) - former enmity; च (ca) - and; भारत (bhārata) - O Bhārata;]
(Became angry strongly and also the son of Pāṇḍu of him, the king; obstruction to the action remembering, former enmity and, O Bhārata.)
O Bhārata, the son of Pāṇḍu also became greatly angry at the king, recalling the obstruction of his task and their earlier enmity. (14-75-11)
ततस्तं वारणं क्रुद्धः शरजालेन पाण्डवः। निवारयामास तदा वेलेव मकरालयम् ॥१४-७५-१२॥
tatas taṃ vāraṇaṃ kruddhaḥ śarajālena pāṇḍavaḥ। nivārayām āsa tadā veleva makarālayam॥14-75-12॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; तम् (tam) - that; वारणम् (vāraṇam) - elephant; क्रुद्धः (kruddhaḥ) - angry; शरजालेन (śarajālena) - with a shower of arrows; पाण्डवः (pāṇḍavaḥ) - the son of Pāṇḍu; निवारयामास (nivārayām āsa) - restrained; तदा (tadā) - then; वेला इव (velā iva) - like the shore; मकरालयम् (makarālayam) - abode of makaras (sea-creatures);]
(Then that elephant, angry, with a shower of arrows, the son of Pandu restrained, then, like the shore (halts) the abode of makaras (sea-creatures).)
Then, angry, the son of Pandu restrained that elephant with a shower of arrows, like the shore restrains the abode of makaras (sea-creatures). (14-75-12)
स नागप्रवरो वीर्यादर्जुनेन निवारितः। तस्थौ शरैर्वितुन्नाङ्गः श्वाविच्छललितो यथा ॥१४-७५-१३॥
sa nāga-pravaraḥ vīryāt arjunena nivāritaḥ। tasthau śaraiḥ vitunna-aṅgaḥ śvā-vit chalalitaḥ yathā ॥14-75-13॥
[स (sa) - he; नागप्रवरो (nāga-pravaraḥ) - excellent one among serpents; वीर्याद् (vīryāt) - by (his own) strength; अर्जुनेन (arjunena) - by Arjuna; निवारितः (nivāritaḥ) - repulsed; तस्थौ (tasthau) - stood; शरैः (śaraiḥ) - by arrows; वितुन्नाङ्गः (vitunna-aṅgaḥ) - with body torn apart; श्वाविच्छललितो (śvāvit-chalalitaḥ) - tossed about by dogs; यथा (yathā) - as;]
(He, the chief among serpents, by his strength repulsed by Arjuna, stood with body torn apart by arrows, as (one) tossed about by dogs.)
He, the foremost serpent, was repulsed by Arjuna’s strength and stood with his body torn apart by arrows, like one tossed around by dogs. (14-75-13)
निवारितं गजं दृष्ट्वा भगदत्तात्मजो नृपः। उत्ससर्ज शितान्बाणानर्जुने क्रोधमूर्छितः ॥१४-७५-१४॥
nivāritaṃ gajaṃ dṛṣṭvā bhagadattātmajo nṛpaḥ। utsasarja śitānbāṇānarjune krodhamūrcchitaḥ ॥14-75-14॥
[निवारितं (nivāritam) - restrained; गजं (gajam) - elephant; दृष्ट्वा (dṛṣṭvā) - having seen; भगदत्तात्मजः (bhagadattātmajaḥ) - Bhagadatta’s son; नृपः (nṛpaḥ) - king; उत्ससर्ज (utsasarja) - released; शितान् (śitān) - sharp; बाणान् (bāṇān) - arrows; अर्जुने (arjune) - at Arjuna; क्रोधमूर्छितः (krodhamūrcchitaḥ) - overwhelmed with anger;]
(Having seen the restrained elephant, Bhagadatta’s son, the king, released sharp arrows at Arjuna, overwhelmed with anger.)
When Bhagadatta’s son, the king, saw his elephant restrained, overcome with anger, he released sharp arrows at Arjuna. (14-75-14)
अर्जुनस्तु महाराज शरैः शरविघातिभिः। वारयामास तानस्तांस्तदद्भुतमिवाभवत् ॥१४-७५-१५॥
arjunastu mahārāja śaraiḥ śaravighātibhiḥ। vārayāmāsa tānastāṃstadadbhutamivābhavat ॥14-75-15॥
[अर्जुनः (arjunaḥ) - Arjuna; तु (tu) - but; महाराज (mahārāja) - O great king; शरैः (śaraiḥ) - with arrows; शरविघातिभिः (śaravighātibhiḥ) - with blows of arrows; वारयामास (vārayāmāsa) - repelled; तान् (tān) - them; अस्ताम् (astām) - those; तत् (tad) - that; अद्भुतम् (adbhutam) - wonderful; इव (iva) - as if; अभवत् (abhavat) - it happened;]
(Arjuna but O great king with arrows with blows of arrows repelled them those that wonderful as if it happened.)
But Arjuna, O great king, repelled them with the blows of his arrows; it seemed as if that was something wonderful. (14-75-15)
ततः पुनरतिक्रुद्धो राजा प्राग्ज्योतिषाधिपः। प्रेषयामास नागेन्द्रं बलवच्छ्वसनोपमम् ॥१४-७५-१६॥
tataḥ punaratikruddho rājā prāgjyotiṣādhipaḥ। preṣayāmāsa nāgendraṃ balavacchvasanopamam ॥14-75-16॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; पुनः (punaḥ) - again; अतिक्रुद्धः (atikruddhaḥ) - very angry; राजा (rājā) - king; प्राग्ज्योतिषाधिपः (prāgjyotiṣādhipaḥ) - lord of Prāgjyotiṣa; प्रेषयामास (preṣayāmāsa) - sent; नागेन्द्रम् (nāgendram) - king of serpents; बलवत् (balavat) - powerful; श्वसन-उपमम् (śvasana-upamam) - like the wind;]
(Then again, the very angry king, lord of Prāgjyotiṣa, sent the king of serpents, powerful, like the wind.)
Then, once more, the exceedingly enraged king of Prāgjyotiṣa sent forth the king of serpents, who was powerful like the wind. (14-75-16)
तमापतन्तं सम्प्रेक्ष्य बलवान्पाकशासनिः। नाराचमग्निसङ्काशं प्राहिणोद्वारणं प्रति ॥१४-७५-१७॥
tam āpatantaṃ samprekṣya balavān pākāśāsaniḥ। nārācam agnisaṅkāśam prāhiṇot vāraṇaṃ prati॥14-75-17॥
[तम् (tam) - him; आपतन्तम् (āpatantam) - approaching; सम्प्रेक्ष्य (samprekṣya) - having observed; बलवान् (balavān) - the strong one; पाकशासनिः (pākāśāsaniḥ) - Pākāśāsani, Indra; नाराचम् (nārācam) - an iron arrow; अग्नि-सङ्काशम् (agni-saṅkāśam) - resembling fire; प्राहिणोत् (prāhiṇot) - sent; वारणम् (vāraṇam) - towards the elephant; प्रति (prati) - towards;]
(Him approaching having observed, the strong Indra (Pākāśāsani) an iron arrow resembling fire sent towards the elephant.)
Seeing him coming, the powerful Indra (Pākāśāsani) sent a fire-like iron arrow towards the elephant. (14-75-17)
स तेन वारणो राजन्मर्मण्यभिहतो भृशम्। पपात सहसा भूमौ वज्ररुग्ण इवाचलः ॥१४-७५-१८॥
sa tena vāraṇo rājan marmāṇy abhihato bhṛśam। papāta sahasā bhūmau vajrarugṇa ivācalah ॥14-75-18॥
[स (sa) - he; तेन (tena) - by him; वारणः (vāraṇaḥ) - the elephant; राजन् (rājan) - O king; मर्मणि (marmāṇi) - in the vital parts; अभिहतः (abhihataḥ) - struck; भृशम् (bhṛśam) - severely; पपात (papāta) - fell; सहसा (sahasā) - suddenly; भूमौ (bhūmau) - on the ground; वज्ररुग्ण (vajrarugṇa) - shattered by a thunderbolt; इव (iva) - like; अचलः (acalaḥ) - a mountain;]
(He by him the elephant O king in the vital parts struck severely fell suddenly on the ground like a mountain shattered by a thunderbolt.)
O king, that elephant, struck severely in the vital parts by him, suddenly fell to the ground like a mountain shattered by a thunderbolt. (14-75-18)
स पतञ्शुशुभे नागो धनञ्जयशराहतः। विशन्निव महाशैलो महीं वज्रप्रपीडितः ॥१४-७५-१९॥
sa patañśuśubhe nāgo dhanañjayaśarāhataḥ। viśanniva mahāśailo mahīṁ vajraprapīḍitaḥ ॥14-75-19॥
[स (sa) - he; पतन्य्-शुशुभे (patan-śuśubhe) - while falling, shone; नागः (nāgaḥ) - the elephant; धनञ्जय-शर-आहतः (dhanañjaya-śara-āhataḥ) - struck by the arrow of Dhananjaya; विशन्न्-इव (viśanna iva) - as if despondent; महाशैलः (mahāśailaḥ) - a great mountain; महीं (mahīm) - upon the earth; वज्र-प्रपीडितः (vajra-prapīḍitaḥ) - crushed by the thunderbolt;]
(He, while falling, shone—the elephant struck by the arrow of Dhananjaya—as if a great mountain despondent, upon the earth, crushed by the thunderbolt.)
As he fell, the elephant struck by Dhananjaya's arrow shone like a great mountain, appearing despondent as if crushed to the earth by a thunderbolt. (14-75-19)
तस्मिन्निपतिते नागे वज्रदत्तस्य पाण्डवः। तं न भेतव्यमित्याह ततो भूमिगतं नृपम् ॥१४-७५-२०॥
tasmin nipatite nāge vajradattasya pāṇḍavaḥ। taṃ na bhetavyam ity āha tato bhūmigataṃ nṛpam ॥14-75-20॥
[तस्मिन् (tasmin) - in that; निपतिते (nipatite) - having fallen; नागे (nāge) - serpent; वज्रदत्तस्य (vajradattasya) - of Vajradatta; पाण्डवः (pāṇḍavaḥ) - the son of Pāṇḍu; तं (taṃ) - to him; न (na) - not; भेतव्यम् (bhetavyam) - should be feared; इति (iti) - thus; आह (āha) - said; ततः (tataḥ) - then; भूमिगतं (bhūmigatam) - lying on the ground; नृपम् (nṛpam) - king;]
(In that (moment when) the serpent of Vajradatta had fallen, the Pāṇḍava said to him, 'He should not be feared,' thus then (to) the king lying on the ground.)
When Vajradatta's serpent had fallen, the Pāṇḍava said to the king lying on the ground, 'Do not fear him.' (14-75-20)
अब्रवीद्धि महातेजाः प्रस्थितं मां युधिष्ठिरः। राजानस्ते न हन्तव्या धनञ्जय कथञ्चन ॥१४-७५-२१॥
abravīddhi mahātejāḥ prasthitaṁ māṁ yudhiṣṭhiraḥ। rājānas te na hantavyā dhanañjaya kathañcana॥14-75-21॥
[अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - said; हि (hi) - indeed; महातेजाः (mahātejāḥ) - of great splendor; प्रस्थितं (prasthitam) - (to the one) about to depart; माम् (mām) - to me; युधिष्ठिरः (yudhiṣṭhiraḥ) - Yudhishthira; राजानः (rājānaḥ) - kings; ते (te) - by you; न (na) - not; हन्तव्या (hantavyāḥ) - are to be slain; धनञ्जय (dhanañjaya) - Dhananjaya (Arjuna); कथञ्चन (kathañcana) - by any means;]
(Indeed, the great-splendored Yudhishthira said to me, as I was about to depart: 'The kings, by you, are not to be slain, Dhananjaya, by any means.')
Indeed, as I was about to depart, the greatly radiant Yudhishthira said to me: 'Dhananjaya, you must not slay the kings by any means.' (14-75-21)
सर्वमेतन्नरव्याघ्र भवत्वेतावता कृतम्। योधाश्चापि न हन्तव्या धनञ्जय रणे त्वया ॥१४-७५-२२॥
sarvam etan naravyāghra bhavatv etāvatā kṛtam। yodhāś cāpi na hantavyā dhanañjaya raṇe tvayā ॥14-75-22॥
[सर्वम् (sarvam) - all; everything; एतत् (etat) - this; (referring to what has been discussed); नरव्याघ्र (naravyāghra) - O tiger among men; O best of men; भवतु (bhavatu) - let it be; may it happen; एतावता (etāvatā) - by this much; to this extent; कृतम् (kṛtam) - has been done; is accomplished; योधाः (yodhāḥ) - warriors; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; even; न (na) - not; हन्तव्याः (hantavyāḥ) - to be killed; should be slain; धनञ्जय (dhanañjaya) - O Dhananjaya; O Arjuna; रणे (raṇe) - in battle; in the fight; त्वया (tvayā) - by you;]
(All this, O tiger among men, let it be; by this much it has been accomplished. The warriors also are not to be killed by you, Dhananjaya, in battle.)
Let all this, O tiger among men, be so; by this alone everything has been accomplished. The warriors also are not to be slain by you, Dhananjaya, in battle. (14-75-22)
वक्तव्याश्चापि राजानः सर्वैः सह सुहृज्जनैः। युधिष्ठिरस्याश्वमेधो भवद्भिरनुभूयताम् ॥१४-७५-२३॥
vaktavyāś cāpi rājānaḥ sarvaiḥ saha suhṛjjanaiḥ। yudhiṣṭhirasya aśvamedhaḥ bhavadbhiḥ anubhūyatām॥14-75-23॥
[वक्तव्याः (vaktavyāḥ) - to be addressed; to be invited; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; राजानः (rājānaḥ) - kings; सर्वैः (sarvaiḥ) - by all; सह (saha) - together with; सुहृज्जनैः (suhṛjjanaiḥ) - with friendly people; with well-wishers; युधिष्ठिरस्य (yudhiṣṭhirasya) - of Yudhishthira; अश्वमेधः (aśvamedhaḥ) - horse sacrifice; भवद्भिः (bhavadbhiḥ) - by you; by your good selves; अनुभूयताम् (anubhūyatām) - let it be experienced; let it be enjoyed;]
(And also, the kings are to be addressed, with all friendly people; Yudhishthira's horse sacrifice, by you, let it be experienced.)
And let the kings be invited, along with all friendly people; may you all participate in the horse sacrifice of Yudhishthira. (14-75-23)
इति भ्रातृवचः श्रुत्वा न हन्मि त्वां जनाधिप। उत्तिष्ठ न भयं तेऽस्ति स्वस्तिमान्गच्छ पार्थिव ॥१४-७५-२४॥
iti bhrātṛ-vacaḥ śrutvā na hanmi tvāṁ janādhipa। uttiṣṭha na bhayaṁ te'sti svastimān gaccha pārthiva ॥14-75-24॥
[इति (iti) - thus; भ्रातृवचः (bhrātṛ-vacaḥ) - brother's word; श्रुत्वा (śrutvā) - having heard; न (na) - not; हन्मि (hanmi) - I kill; त्वां (tvām) - you; जनाधिप (janādhipa) - lord of people; उत्तिष्ठ (uttiṣṭha) - arise; न (na) - not; भयम् (bhayam) - fear; ते (te) - to you; अस्ति (asti) - is; स्वस्तिमान् (svastimān) - fortunate; गच्छ (gaccha) - go; पार्थिव (pārthiva) - king;]
(Thus, having heard the brother's word, I do not kill you, lord of people. Arise, there is not fear to you, fortunate one, go, king.)
Having heard the brother's words, I will not kill you, O lord of people. Arise; there is no fear for you. Go safely, O king. (14-75-24)
आगच्छेथा महाराज परां चैत्रीमुपस्थिताम्। तदाश्वमेधो भविता धर्मराजस्य धीमतः ॥१४-७५-२५॥
āgacchetā mahārāja parāṃ caitrīm upasthitām। tad āśvamedho bhavitā dharmarājasya dhīmataḥ॥14-75-25॥
[आगच्छेथा (āgacchetā) - please come;, महाराज (mahārāja) - O great king;, पराम् (parām) - highest;, चैत्रीम् (caitrīm) - of the Caitra month (f. acc. sing.);, उपस्थिताम् (upasthitām) - that which has arrived;, तदा (tadā) - then;, अश्वमेधः (aśvamedhaḥ) - horse-sacrifice;, भविता (bhavitā) - will be;, धर्मराजस्य (dharmarājasya) - of Dharmarāja (Yudhiṣṭhira);, धीमतः (dhīmataḥ) - of the wise;.;]
(Please come, O great king, (when) the highest Caitra (month) has arrived. Then the horse-sacrifice will be of Dharmarāja, the wise.)
Please come, O great king, when the auspicious month of Caitra arrives. Then Dharmarāja, the wise, will perform the horse-sacrifice. (14-75-25)
एवमुक्तः स राजा तु भगदत्तात्मजस्तदा। तथेत्येवाब्रवीद्वाक्यं पाण्डवेनाभिनिर्जितः ॥१४-७५-२६॥
evam-uktaḥ sa rājā tu bhagadattātmajaḥ tadā। tathety-evābravīd vākyaṃ pāṇḍavenābhinirjitaḥ॥14-75-26॥
[एवम् (evam) - thus; उक्तः (uktaḥ) - having been addressed; स (sa) - he; राजा (rājā) - king; तु (tu) - but; भगदत्तात्मजः (bhagadattātmajaḥ) - the son of Bhagadatta; तदा (tadā) - then; तथेत्येव (tathety-eva) - 'so be it', indeed; अब्रवीद् (abravīd) - he said; वाक्यम् (vākyaṃ) - the word; पाण्डवेन (pāṇḍavena) - by the Pāṇḍava; अभिनिर्जितः (abhinirjitaḥ) - having been subdued;]
(Thus addressed, he, the king, but the son of Bhagadatta, then; 'so be it' indeed, said the word, by the Pāṇḍava having been subdued.)
Having been thus addressed, the king, the son of Bhagadatta, then, having been subdued by the Pāṇḍava, said just 'so be it.' (14-75-26)
