इत्युक्त्वानुययौ पार्थो हयं तं कामचारिणम्। न्यवर्तत ततो वाजी येन नागाह्वयं पुरम् ॥१४-८६-१॥
ity uktvā anuyayau pārtho hayaṃ taṃ kāmacāriṇam। nyavartata tato vājī yena nāgāhvayaṃ puram ॥14-86-1॥
[इति (iti) - thus; उक्त्वा (uktvā) - having spoken; अनुययौ (anuyayau) - followed; पार्थः (pārthaḥ) - Pārtha (Arjuna); हयम् (hayam) - horse; तम् (tam) - that; कामचारिणम् (kāmacāriṇam) - moving as it wishes; न्यवर्तत (nyavartata) - turned back; ततः (tataḥ) - from there; वाजी (vājī) - the steed; येन (yena) - by which; नागाह्वयम् (nägāhvayam) - Nāgāhvaya (the name of a city); पुरम् (puram) - city;]
(Thus having spoken, Pārtha followed that horse which moves as it wishes. From there, the steed turned back, by which (route) the Nāgāhvaya city (was reached). (14-86-1))
After saying thus, Pārtha (Arjuna) followed that horse which moved at its will. Then the steed turned back from there by the route that led to the city called Nāgāhvaya. (14-86-1)
तं निवृत्तं तु शुश्राव चारेणैव युधिष्ठिरः। श्रुत्वार्जुनं कुशलिनं स च हृष्टमनाभवत् ॥१४-८६-२॥
taṃ nivṛttaṃ tu śuśrāva cāreṇaiva yudhiṣṭhiraḥ। śrutvārjunaṃ kuśalinaṃ sa ca hṛṣṭamanābhavat ॥14-86-2॥
[तं (taṃ) - him; निवृत्तं (nivṛttam) - returned; तु (tu) - but; शुश्राव (śuśrāva) - heard; चारेण (cāreṇa) - by a spy; एव (eva) - indeed; युधिष्ठिरः (yudhiṣṭhiraḥ) - Yudhiṣṭhira; श्रुत्वा (śrutvā) - having heard; अर्जुनं (arjunaṃ) - Arjuna; कुशलिनं (kuśalinaṃ) - safe; स (sa) - he; च (ca) - and; हृष्टमनाः (hṛṣṭamanāḥ) - gladdened in mind; अभवत् (abhavat) - became;]
(Him returned but heard by a spy indeed Yudhiṣṭhira. Having heard Arjuna safe he and gladdened in mind became.)
Yudhiṣṭhira, on hearing from a spy that he (Arjuna) had returned safely, became gladdened at heart. (14-86-2)
विजयस्य च तत्कर्म गान्धारविषये तदा। श्रुत्वान्येषु च देशेषु स सुप्रीतोऽभवन्नृपः ॥१४-८६-३॥
vijayasya ca tatkarma gāndhāra-viṣaye tadā। śrutvā anyeṣu ca deśeṣu sa suprīto'bhavan nṛpaḥ ॥14-86-3॥
[विजयस्य (vijayasya) - of victory; च (ca) - and; तत्कर्म (tatkarma) - that act; गान्धारविषये (gāndhāra-viṣaye) - in the land of Gandhara; तदा (tadā) - then; श्रुत्वा (śrutvā) - having heard; अन्येषु (anyeṣu) - in other; च (ca) - and; देशेषु (deśeṣu) - countries; स (sa) - he; सुप्रीतः (suprītaḥ) - well-pleased; अभवत् (abhavat) - became; नृपः (nṛpaḥ) - the king;]
(Of victory and that act in the land of Gandhara then, having heard in other countries and, he well-pleased became the king.)
At that time, the king became very pleased upon hearing, in other countries as well, about that act of victory in Gandhara. (14-86-3)
एतस्मिन्नेव काले तु द्वादशीं माघपाक्षिकीम्। इष्टं गृहीत्वा नक्षत्रं धर्मराजो युधिष्ठिरः ॥१४-८६-४॥
etasminneva kāle tu dvādaśīṃ māghapākṣikīm। iṣṭaṃ gṛhītvā nakṣatraṃ dharmarājo yudhiṣṭhiraḥ॥14-86-4॥
[एतस्मिन्नेव (etasmin eva) - in this very; काले (kāle) - time; तु (tu) - but; द्वादशीं (dvādaśīm) - the twelfth (lunar day); माघपाक्षिकीम् (māghapākṣikīm) - of the Māgha fortnight; इष्टं (iṣṭam) - desired; गृहीत्वा (gṛhītvā) - having accepted; नक्षत्रं (nakṣatram) - constellation; धर्मराजः (dharmarājaḥ) - Dharmarāja (King of Dharma; epithet of Yudhishthira); युधिष्ठिरः (yudhiṣṭhiraḥ) - Yudhishthira;]
(In this very time but the twelfth lunar day of the Māgha fortnight, having accepted the desired constellation, Dharmarāja Yudhishthira.)
At that very time, Dharmarāja Yudhishthira, having chosen the desired constellation, observed the twelfth day of the Māgha fortnight. (14-86-4)
समानाय्य महातेजाः सर्वान्भ्रातॄन्महामनाः। भीमं च नकुलं चैव सहदेवं च कौरवः ॥१४-८६-५॥
samānāyya mahātejāḥ sarvān-bhrātṝn-mahāmanāḥ। bhīmaṃ ca nakulaṃ caiva sahadevaṃ ca kauravaḥ॥14-86-5॥
[समानाय्य (samānāyya) - having gathered together; महातेजाः (mahātejāḥ) - of great splendor; सर्वान् (sarvān) - all; भ्रातॄन् (bhrātṝn) - brothers; महामनाः (mahāmanāḥ) - great-minded; भीमं (bhīmaṃ) - Bhīma; च (ca) - and; नकुलं (nakulaṃ) - Nakula; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; सहदेवं (sahadevaṃ) - Sahadeva; च (ca) - and; कौरवः (kauravaḥ) - the descendant of Kuru;]
(Having gathered together, the great-spirited one of immense splendor, all the brothers—Bhīma, and Nakula, indeed and Sahadeva, and the descendant of Kuru.)
The Kaurava of great energy, having gathered all the brothers—Bhīma, Nakula, and Sahadeva—united them. (14-86-5)
प्रोवाचेदं वचः काले तदा धर्मभृतां वरः। आमन्त्र्य वदतां श्रेष्ठो भीमं भीमपराक्रमम् ॥१४-८६-६॥
provācedaṃ vacaḥ kāle tadā dharmabhṛtāṃ varaḥ। āmantrya vadatāṃ śreṣṭho bhīmaṃ bhīmaparākramam॥14-86-6॥
[प्रोवाच (provāca) - spoke; said; इदम् (idam) - this; वचः (vacaḥ) - word; speech; काले (kāle) - at the (right) time; तदा (tadā) - then; धर्मभृतां (dharmabhṛtām) - of the sustainers of dharma; वरः (varaḥ) - the best; the chief; आमन्त्र्य (āmantrya) - having addressed; वदतां (vadatām) - of speakers; श्रेष्ठः (śreṣṭhaḥ) - the best; भीमम् (bhīmam) - Bhīma; भीमपराक्रमम् (bhīmaparākramam) - having terrible prowess; of Bhīma-like might;]
(Spoke this word at the (right) time then the chief of the sustainers of dharma, having addressed the best of speakers, Bhīma of terrible prowess.)
Then, at the appropriate time, the chief among the upholders of dharma, having addressed Bhīma—the best of speakers and of terrible might—spoke these words. (14-86-6)
आयाति भीमसेनासौ सहाश्वेन तवानुजः। यथा मे पुरुषाः प्राहुर्ये धनञ्जयसारिणः ॥१४-८६-७॥
āyāti bhīmasenāsau sahāśvena tavānujaḥ। yathā me puruṣāḥ prāhurye dhanañjayasāriṇaḥ॥14-86-7॥
[आयाति (āyāti) - is coming; भीमसेनः (bhīmasenaḥ) - Bhīmasena; असौ (asau) - that (he); सहाश्वेन (sahāśvena) - with horse; तव (tava) - your; अनुजः (anujaḥ) - younger brother; यथा (yathā) - as; मे (me) - to me; पुरुषाः (puruṣāḥ) - men; प्राहुः (prāhuḥ) - said; ये (ye) - who; धनञ्जयसारिणः (dhanañjayasāriṇaḥ) - companions of Dhanañjaya;]
(Is coming Bhīmasena that (he) with horse your younger brother; as to me men said who companions of Dhanañjaya.)
That Bhīmasena, your younger brother, is coming with a horse, as the men who are companions of Dhanañjaya told me. (14-86-7)
उपस्थितश्च कालोऽयमभितो वर्तते हयः। माघी च पौर्णमासीयं मासः शेषो वृकोदर ॥१४-८६-८॥
upasthitaś ca kālo' yam abhi-to vartate hayaḥ। māghī ca paurṇamāsīyaṃ māsaḥ śeṣo vṛkodara ॥14-86-8॥
[उपस्थितः (upasthitaḥ) - has arrived; has become present; च (ca) - and; कालः (kālaḥ) - the time; अयम् (ayam) - this; अभितः (abhitaḥ) - on all sides; around; वर्तते (vartate) - is present; exists; हयः (hayaḥ) - O (address particle for conversation); माघी (māghī) - of Māgha (month); च (ca) - and; पौर्णमासीयम् (paurṇamāsīyam) - full-moon time; मासः (māsaḥ) - month; शेषः (śeṣaḥ) - is left; remains; वृकोदर (vṛkodara) - O Vṛkodara (Bhīma, epithet);]
(Has arrived and the time this all-around exists, O (address), Māgha and full-moon time month remains, O Vṛkodara.)
This time has arrived and is present all around, O Vṛkodara. The full-moon of Māgha month alone remains, O Vṛkodara. (14-86-8)
तत्प्रस्थाप्यन्तु विद्वांसो ब्राह्मणा वेदपारगाः। वाजिमेधार्थसिद्ध्यर्थं देशं पश्यन्तु यज्ञियम् ॥१४-८६-९॥
tat-prasthāpyantu vidvāṃso brāhmaṇā vedapārāgāḥ। vājimedhārthasiddhyarthaṃ deśaṃ paśyantu yajñiyam ॥14-86-9॥
[तत् (tat) - that; प्रस्थाप्यन्तु (prasthāpyantu) - let send forth; विद्वांसः (vidvāṃsaḥ) - learned ones; ब्राह्मणाः (brāhmaṇāḥ) - brāhmaṇas; वेदपारगाः (vedapārāgāḥ) - those who have mastered Veda; वाजिमेधार्थसिद्ध्यर्थम् (vājimedhārthasiddhyartham) - for the accomplishment of the purpose of Vājimedha; देशम् (deśam) - land; पश्यन्तु (paśyantu) - let them see; यज्ञियम् (yajñiyam) - suitable for sacrifice;]
(That let send forth learned brāhmaṇas who have mastered the Veda, for the accomplishment of the purpose of Vājimedha, land let them see suitable for sacrifice.)
Let those learned brāhmaṇas who have mastered the Veda be dispatched to examine the land suitable for sacrifice for the accomplishment of the Vājimedha. (14-86-9)
इत्युक्तः स तु तच्चक्रे भीमो नृपतिशासनम्। हृष्टः श्रुत्वा नरपतेरायान्तं सव्यसाचिनम् ॥१४-८६-१०॥
ity-uktaḥ sa tu tac-cakre bhīmo nṛpati-śāsanam। hṛṣṭaḥ śrutvā narapater āyāntam savyasācinam॥14-86-10॥
[इति (iti) - thus; उक्तः (uktaḥ) - having been addressed; स (sa) - he; तु (tu) - but; तत् (tat) - that; चक्रे (cakre) - he did; भीमः (bhīmaḥ) - Bhīma; नृपतिशासनम् (nṛpati-śāsanam) - the king's command; हृष्टः (hṛṣṭaḥ) - gladdened; श्रुत्वा (śrutvā) - having heard; नरपतेः (narapateḥ) - of the king; आयान्तम् (āyāntam) - (someone) coming; सव्यसाचिनम् (savyasācinam) - Savyasācin (Arjuna);]
(Thus having been addressed, he but that did; Bhīma (did) the king's command. Gladdened, having heard of the king, (that) Savyasācin coming.)
Thus addressed, Bhīma did the king's command. Gladdened, he heard that Savyasācin (Arjuna) was coming from the king. (14-86-10)
ततो ययौ भीमसेनः प्राज्ञैः स्थपतिभिः सह। ब्राह्मणानग्रतः कृत्वा कुशलान्यज्ञकर्मसु ॥१४-८६-११॥
tato yayau bhīmasenaḥ prājñaiḥ sthapatibhiḥ saha। brāhmaṇān agrataḥ kṛtvā kuśalān yajñakarmasu ॥14-86-11॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; ययौ (yayau) - went; भीमसेनः (bhīmasenaḥ) - Bhīmasena; प्राज्ञैः (prājñaiḥ) - with wise; स्थपतिभिः (sthapatibhiḥ) - with architects; सह (saha) - together with; ब्राह्मणान् (brāhmaṇān) - Brāhmaṇas; अग्रतः (agrataḥ) - in front; कृत्वा (kṛtvā) - having placed; कुशलान् (kuśalān) - skilled; यज्ञकर्मसु (yajñakarmasu) - in sacrificial acts;]
(Then went Bhīmasena with wise architects together, having placed in front the Brāhmaṇas skilled in sacrificial acts.)

तं सशालचयग्रामं सम्प्रतोलीविटङ्किनम्। मापयामास कौरव्यो यज्ञवाटं यथाविधि ॥१४-८६-१२॥
taṃ saśālacayagrāmaṃ sampratolīviṭaṅkinam। māpayāmāsa kauravyo yajñavāṭaṃ yathāvidhi ॥14-86-12॥
[तं (taṃ) - that; सशालचयग्रामं (sa-śāla-caya-grāmam) - with śāla-tree groves village; सम्प्रतोलीविटङ्किनम् (sampratolī-viṭaṅkinam) - marked with measured main streets; मापयामास (māpayāmāsa) - measured out; कौरव्यो (kauravyo) - the descendant of the Kuru (Yudhiṣṭhira); यज्ञवाटं (yajña-vāṭam) - sacrificial enclosure; यथाविधि (yathā-vidhi) - according to proper rules;]
(That with śāla-tree groves village, marked with measured main streets, measured out the descendant of the Kuru, the sacrificial enclosure, according to proper rules.)
The descendant of the Kuru measured out the sacrificial enclosure in that village with śāla-tree groves and marked main streets, in accordance with proper rules. (14-86-12)
सदः सपत्नीसदनं साग्नीध्रमपि चोत्तरम्। कारयामास विधिवन्मणिहेमविभूषितम् ॥१४-८६-१३॥
sadaḥ sapatnī-sadanaṁ sāgnīdhram api cottaram। kārayāmāsa vidhivan maṇi-hema-vibhūṣitam ॥14-86-13॥
[सदः (sadaḥ) - assembly hall; सपत्नीसदनं (sapatnī-sadanam) - rival wives' chamber; साग्नीध्रम् (sāgnīdhram) - with fire-chamber; अपि (api) - also; च (ca) - and; उत्तरम् (uttaram) - northern; कारयामास (kārayāmāsa) - caused to be built; विधिवत् (vidhivat) - according to rule; मणिहेमविभूषितम् (maṇi-hema-vibhūṣitam) - adorned with gems and gold;]

स्तम्भान्कनकचित्रांश्च तोरणानि बृहन्ति च। यज्ञायतनदेशेषु दत्त्वा शुद्धं च काञ्चनम् ॥१४-८६-१४॥
stambhān kanakacitrāmś ca toraṇāni bṛhanti ca। yajñāyatana-deśeṣu dattvā śuddhaṃ ca kāñcanam॥14-86-14॥

अन्तःपुराणि राज्ञां च नानादेशनिवासिनाम्। कारयामास धर्मात्मा तत्र तत्र यथाविधि ॥१४-८६-१५॥
antaḥ-purāṇi rājñāṃ ca nānā-deśa-nivāsinām। kārayāmāsa dharmātmā tatra tatra yathā-vidhi ॥14-86-15॥
[अन्तःपुराणि (antaḥ-purāṇi) - inner chambers; राज्ञां (rājñām) - of kings; च (ca) - and; नानादेश (nānā-deśa) - various lands; निवासिनाम् (nivāsinām) - of the inhabitants; कारयामास (kārayāmāsa) - caused to be built; धर्मात्मा (dharmātmā) - the righteous-souled one; तत्र तत्र (tatra tatra) - here and there; यथाविधि (yathā-vidhi) - according to rule;]
(He, the righteous-souled one, caused to be built the inner chambers of kings and of inhabitants of various lands, here and there, according to rule.)
The righteous-souled one caused the inner chambers for the kings and for the inhabitants of various regions to be built in various places, according to proper order. (14-86-15)
ब्राह्मणानां च वेश्मानि नानादेशसमेयुषाम्। कारयामास भीमः स विविधानि ह्यनेकशः ॥१४-८६-१६॥
brāhmaṇānāṃ ca veśmāni nānādeśasamayuṣām। kārayāmāsa bhīmaḥ sa vividhāni hy anekaśaḥ॥14-86-16॥
[ब्राह्मणानां (brāhmaṇānām) - of the brāhmaṇas; च (ca) - and; वेश्मानि (veśmāni) - houses; नाना (nānā) - various; देश (deśa) - regions; समेयुषाम् (samayuṣām) - of those who had assembled; कारयामास (kārayāmāsa) - caused to be built; भीमः (bhīmaḥ) - Bhīma; स (sa) - he; विविधानि (vividhāni) - of various kinds; हि (hi) - indeed; अनेकशः (anekaśaḥ) - in great numbers;]
(Of the brāhmaṇas and the houses of those from various regions who had assembled, Bhīma, he caused to be built, indeed, of various kinds, in great numbers.)
Bhīma caused the building of diverse houses in great numbers for the brāhmaṇas and for those brāhmaṇas who had assembled from various regions. (14-86-16)
तथा सम्प्रेषयामास दूतान्नृपतिशासनात्। भीमसेनो महाराज राज्ञामक्लिष्टकर्मणाम् ॥१४-८६-१७॥
tathā saṃpreṣayāmāsa dūtān nṛpati-śāsanāt। bhīmaseno mahārāja rājñām akliṣṭa-karmaṇām॥14-86-17॥
[तथा (tathā) - thus; सम्प्रेषयामास (saṃpreṣayāmāsa) - sent; दूतान् (dūtān) - messengers; नृपति-शासनात् (nṛpati-śāsanāt) - by king's command; भीमसेनः (bhīmasenaḥ) - Bhīmasena; महाराज (mahārāja) - O great king; राज्ञाम् (rājñām) - of kings; अक्लिष्टकर्मणाम् (akliṣṭa-karmaṇām) - of those whose actions are unwearied;]

ते प्रियार्थं कुरुपतेराययुर्नृपसत्तमाः। रत्नान्यनेकान्यादाय स्त्रियोऽश्वानायुधानि च ॥१४-८६-१८॥
te priyārthaṃ kurupater āyur nṛpasattamāḥ। ratnāny anekāny ādāya striyo'śvānāyudhāni ca ॥14-86-18॥
[ते (te) - they; प्रियार्थम् (priyārtham) - for the sake of pleasing; कुरुपतेः (kurupateḥ) - of the lord of the Kurus; आययुः (āyayuḥ) - came; नृपसत्तमाः (nṛpasattamāḥ) - the excellent among kings; रत्नानि (ratnāni) - gems; अनेकानि (anekāni) - many; आदाय (ādāya) - having brought; स्त्रियः (striyaḥ) - women; अश्वान् (aśvān) - horses; आयुधानि (āyudhāni) - weapons; च (ca) - and;]
(They for the sake of pleasing the lord of the Kurus came the excellent among kings, many gems having brought, women, horses, weapons and.)
The excellent kings came to please the lord of the Kurus, bringing many gems, as well as women, horses, and weapons. (14-86-18)
तेषां निविशतां तेषु शिबिरेषु सहस्रशः। नर्दतः सागरस्येव शब्दो दिवमिवास्पृशत् ॥१४-८६-१९॥
teṣāṃ nivişatāṃ teṣu śibireṣu sahasraśaḥ। nardataḥ sāgarasyaiva śabdo divamivāspṛśat ॥14-86-19॥
[तेषां (teṣāṃ) - of them; निविशतां (niviśatām) - entering; तेषु (teṣu) - into those; शिबिरेषु (śibireṣu) - camps; सहस्रशः (sahasraśaḥ) - in thousands; नर्दतः (nardataḥ) - roaring; सागरस्य (sāgarasya) - of the ocean; इव (iva) - like; शब्दः (śabdaḥ) - sound; दिवम् (divam) - sky; इव (iva) - like; अस्पृशत् (aspṛśat) - touched;]
(Of them entering into those camps in thousands, the roaring sound, like that of the ocean, touched the sky.)

तेषामभ्यागतानां स राजा राजीवलोचनः। व्यादिदेशान्नपानानि शय्याश्चाप्यतिमानुषाः ॥१४-८६-२०॥
teṣām abhyāgatānāṃ sa rājā rājīvalocanaḥ। vyādideśa annapānāni śayyāś ca api atimānuṣāḥ॥14-86-20॥

(Of them who had arrived, that king, lotus-eyed, ordered food and drink and also beds extraordinary (superhuman).)
For those who had arrived, that lotus-eyed king ordered food, drink, and beds of a superhuman kind. (14-86-20)
वाहनानां च विविधाः शालाः शालीक्षुगोरसैः। उपेताः पुरुषव्याघ्र व्यादिदेश स धर्मराट् ॥१४-८६-२१॥
vāhanānāṃ ca vividhāḥ śālāḥ śālīkṣugorasaīḥ। upetāḥ puruṣavyāghra vyādideśa sa dharmarāṭ॥14-86-21॥

(Of vehicles and various sheds furnished with rice, sugarcane, and cow products, O tiger among men, he, the king of righteousness, ordered.)
The king of righteousness, O tiger among men, ordered various sheds for vehicles, furnished with rice, sugarcane, and products of cows. (14-86-21)
तथा तस्मिन्महायज्ञे धर्मराजस्य धीमतः। समाजग्मुर्मुनिगणा बहवो ब्रह्मवादिनः ॥१४-८६-२२॥
tathā tasmin-mahāyajñe dharmarājasya dhīmataḥ। samājagmur munigaṇā bahavo brahmavādinaḥ ॥14-86-22॥
[तथा (tathā) - thus; तस्मिन् (tasmin) - in that; महायज्ञे (mahāyajñe) - great sacrifice; धर्मराजस्य (dharmarājasya) - of Dharmarāja; धीमतः (dhīmataḥ) - of the wise; समाजग्मुः (samājagmuḥ) - came together; मुनिगणाः (munigaṇāḥ) - groups of sages; बहवः (bahavaḥ) - many; ब्रह्मवादिनः (brahmavādinaḥ) - expounders of Brahman;]
(Thus, in that great sacrifice of the wise Dharmarāja, many groups of sages, expounders of Brahman, came together.)
Thus, at that great sacrifice held by the wise Dharmarāja, many groups of sages—expounders of Brahman—assembled. (14-86-22)
ये च द्विजातिप्रवरास्तत्रासन्पृथिवीपते। समाजग्मुः सशिष्यांस्तान्प्रतिजग्राह कौरवः ॥१४-८६-२३॥
ye ca dvijātipravarās tatrāsan pṛthivīpate। samājagmuḥ saśiṣyāṁs tān pratijagrāha kauravaḥ॥14-86-23॥
[ये (ye) - those who; च (ca) - and; द्विजातिप्रवराः (dvijātipravarāḥ) - the foremost among the twice-born; तत्र (tatra) - there; आसन् (āsan) - were; पृथिवीपते (pṛthivīpate) - O lord of the earth; समाजग्मुः (samājagmuḥ) - they assembled; सशिष्यांश् (saśiṣyāṁs) - with their disciples; तान् (tān) - them; प्रतिजग्राह (pratijagrāha) - received; कौरवः (kauravaḥ) - the Kaurava (prince);]
(Those who and foremost among twice-born there were, O lord of the earth; assembled with disciples them received the Kaurava.)
And those foremost among the twice-born who were present there, O lord of the earth, assembled with their disciples, and the Kaurava received them. (14-86-23)
सर्वांश्च ताननुययौ यावदावसथादिति। स्वयमेव महातेजा दम्भं त्यक्त्वा युधिष्ठिरः ॥१४-८६-२४॥
sarvāṁś ca tān anuyayau yāvad āvasathād iti. svayam eva mahātejā dambhaṁ tyaktvā yudhiṣṭhiraḥ ॥14-86-24॥
[सर्वान् (sarvān) - all; च (ca) - and; तान् (tān) - them; अनुययौ (anuyayau) - followed; यावत् (yāvat) - as far as; आवासथात् (āvasathāt) - from the dwelling; इति (iti) - thus; स्वयम् (svayam) - himself; एव (eva) - indeed; महातेजाः (mahātejāḥ) - of great brilliance; दम्भम् (dambham) - deceit; त्यक्त्वा (tyaktvā) - having abandoned; युधिष्ठिरः (yudhiṣṭhiraḥ) - Yudhishthira;]
(All and them he followed as far as from the dwelling, thus. Himself indeed, of great brilliance, having abandoned deceit, Yudhishthira.)

ततः कृत्वा स्थपतयः शिल्पिनोऽन्ये च ये तदा। कृत्स्नं यज्ञविधिं राजन्धर्मराज्ञे न्यवेदयन् ॥१४-८६-२५॥
tataḥ kṛtvā sthapatayaḥ śilpino'nye ca ye tadā। kṛtsnaṃ yajñavidhiṃ rājan dharmarājñe nyavedayan॥14-86-25॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; कृत्वा (kṛtvā) - having done; स्थपतयः (sthapatayaḥ) - architects; शिल्पिनः (śilpinaḥ) - artisans; अन्ये (anye) - others; च (ca) - and; ये (ye) - who; तदा (tadā) - then; कृत्स्नम् (kṛtsnam) - entire; यज्ञविधिम् (yajñavidhim) - ritual arrangement; राजन् (rājan) - O king; धर्मराज्ञे (dharmarājñe) - to Dharmarāja; न्यवेदयन् (nyavedayan) - reported;]
(Then having done, the architects, the artisans, and others who (were there) then, the entire ritual arrangement, O king, to Dharmarāja reported.)
Then, having completed their tasks, the architects, artisans, and others at that time reported the entire ritual arrangement to Dharmarāja, O king. (14-86-25)
तच्छ्रुत्वा धर्मराजः स कृतं सर्वमनिन्दितम्। हृष्टरूपोऽभवद्राजा सह भ्रातृभिरच्युतः ॥१४-८६-२६॥
tac chrutvā dharmarājaḥ sa kṛtaṁ sarvam aninditam। hṛṣṭarūpo'bhavad rājā saha bhrātṛbhiḥ acyutaḥ॥14-86-26॥
[तत् (tat) - that; श्रुत्वा (śrutvā) - having heard; धर्मराजः (dharmarājaḥ) - Dharmarāja (the king of dharma; Yudhiṣṭhira); स (sa) - he; कृतम् (kṛtam) - deed; act; सर्वम् (sarvam) - all; अनिन्दितम् (aninditam) - blameless; faultless; हृष्टरूपः (hṛṣṭarūpaḥ) - of delighted appearance; joyful; अभवत् (abhavat) - became; was; राजा (rājā) - king; सह (saha) - with; भ्रातृभिः (bhrātṛbhiḥ) - with (his) brothers; अच्युतः (acyutaḥ) - Acyuta (an epithet of Kṛṣṇa);]
(That having heard, Dharmarāja he deed all blameless. Of delighted appearance became king with brothers Acyuta.)
Having heard that, Dharmarāja (Yudhiṣṭhira), with his brothers and Acyuta (Kṛṣṇa), the king became joyful, for all the deeds were blameless. (14-86-26)
