ददौ कुन्ती ततस्ताभ्यां रत्नानि विविधानि च। द्रौपदी च सुभद्रा च याश्चाप्यन्या ददुः स्त्रियः ॥१४-९०-३॥

अहीनो नाम राजेन्द्र क्रतुस्तेऽयं विकल्पवान्। बहुत्वात्काञ्चनस्यास्य ख्यातो बहुसुवर्णकः ॥१४-९०-१३॥

(Ahīna, by name, O king, the sacrifice of yours, this, possessing variety. Due to abundance of gold, of this, is known as Bahusuvarṇaka.)

त्रीनश्वमेधानत्र त्वं सम्प्राप्य बहुदक्षिणान्। ज्ञातिवध्याकृतं पापं प्रहास्यसि नराधिप ॥१४-९०-१५॥
trīnaśvamedhānatra tvaṃ samprāpya bahudakṣiṇān । jñātivadhyākṛtaṃ pāpaṃ prahāsyasi narādhipa ॥14-90-15॥

(Three aśvamedha sacrifices here you, having accomplished with many gifts, (the) sin done as killing of kindred you will remove, O king.)
O king, by performing three aśvamedha sacrifices here, accompanied by abundant gifts, you will remove the sin committed by killing your kindred. (14-90-15)
पवित्रं परमं ह्येतत्पावनानां च पावनम्। यदश्वमेधावभृथं प्राप्स्यसे कुरुनन्दन ॥१४-९०-१६॥
pavitraṃ paramaṃ hy etat pāvanānāṃ ca pāvanam। yad aśvamedhāvabhṛthaṃ prāpsyase kurunandana ॥14-90-16॥

(Pure supreme indeed this and purifier of purifiers; which the aśvamedha final bath you will attain, O joy of the Kurus.)
O joy of the Kurus, this is indeed the supreme purity and the purifier of purifiers; you will attain that which is the final bath of the horse-sacrifice. (14-90-16)
इत्युक्तः स तु तेजस्वी व्यासेनामिततेजसा। दीक्षां विवेश धर्मात्मा वाजिमेधाप्तये तदा ॥ नराधिपः प्रायजत वाजिमेधं महाक्रतुम् ॥१४-९०-१७॥

(Thus addressed, he, full of brilliance, by Vyāsa of immeasurable energy, entered the preparatory rite, the righteous-souled, for attainment of the horse-sacrifice at that time. The king caused to be performed the Vājimedha, the great sacrifice. (14-90-17))

(There, knowers of the Vedas, O king, performed ritual acts, (and) the priests, moving about, knowers of the scriptures, according to rule, well-trained.)
There, O King, the knowers of the Vedas performed the rituals. The priests, who were learned in the scriptures and well-trained in correct procedures, moved about as required. (14-90-18)
न तेषां स्खलितं तत्र नासीदपहुतं तथा। क्रमयुक्तं च युक्तं च चक्रुस्तत्र द्विजर्षभाः ॥१४-९०-१९॥

न तत्र कृपणः कश्चिन्न दरिद्रो बभूव ह। क्षुधितो दुःखितो वापि प्राकृतो वापि मानवः ॥१४-९०-२२॥
na tatra kṛpaṇaḥ kaścin na daridro babhūva ha। kṣudhito duḥkhito vāpi prākṛto vāpi mānavaḥ॥14-90-22॥

(Not there a miserable man any, not poor became indeed. Hungry, afflicted or even, ordinary or even man.)
There, no one at all became miserable or poor. Nor was any man found hungry, afflicted, or ordinary. (14-90-22)
भोजनं भोजनार्थिभ्यो दापयामास नित्यदा। भीमसेनो महातेजाः सततं राजशासनात् ॥१४-९०-२३॥
bhojanaṃ bhojanārthibhyo dāpayāmāsa nityadā। bhīmaseno mahātejāḥ satataṃ rājaśāsanāt ॥14-90-23॥

नाषडङ्गविदत्रासीत्सदस्यस्तस्य धीमतः। नाव्रतो नानुपाध्यायो न च वादाक्षमो द्विजः ॥१४-९०-२५॥

(Not a non-knower of the six limbs here was (a) member of his assembly, wise; not vowless, not without a teacher, nor unskilled in disputation, (a) twice-born.)
In his learned assembly, there was no one who was not a knower of the six limbs, no one without vows, no one without a preceptor, and no twice-born who was not skilled in disputation. (14-90-25)
ततो यूपोच्छ्रये प्राप्ते षड्बैल्वान्भरतर्षभ। खादिरान्बिल्वसमितांस्तावतः सर्ववर्णिनः ॥१४-९०-२६॥
tato yūpocchraye prāpte ṣaḍ-bailvān bharatarṣabha। khādirān bilva-samitāṁs tāvataḥ sarva-varṇinaḥ ॥14-90-26॥

देवदारुमयौ द्वौ तु यूपौ कुरुपतेः क्रतौ। श्लेष्मातकमयं चैकं याजकाः समकारयन् ॥१४-९०-२७॥

O bull among men, for the sake of splendor, Bhīma had other golden sacrificial posts made at the command of Dharmarāja. (14-90-28)
ते व्यराजन्त राजर्षे वासोभिरुपशोभिताः। नरेन्द्राभिगता देवान्यथा सप्तर्षयो दिवि ॥१४-९०-२९॥
te vyarājanta rājarṣe vāsobhir upaśobhitāḥ। narendrābhigatā devān yathā saptarṣayo divi ॥14-90-29॥

इष्टकाः काञ्चनीश्चात्र चयनार्थं कृताभवन्। शुशुभे चयनं तत्र दक्षस्येव प्रजापतेः ॥१४-९०-३०॥

चतुश्चित्यः स तस्यासीदष्टादशकरात्मकः। स रुक्मपक्षो निचितस्त्रिगुणो गरुडाकृतिः ॥१४-९०-३१॥
catuścityaḥ sa tasya āsīd aṣṭādaśakarātmakaḥ। sa rukmapakṣo nicitās triguṇo garuḍākṛtiḥ॥14-90-31॥

(He, with the songs of Kimpuruṣas and by Kinnaras adorned, by the abodes of Siddhas and sages and all around encompassed.)
He was adorned by the songs of the Kimpuruṣas and by the Kinnaras, and was surrounded on all sides by the abodes of Siddhas and sages. (14-90-36)
तस्मिन्सदसि नित्यास्तु व्यासशिष्या द्विजोत्तमाः। सर्वशास्त्रप्रणेतारः कुशला यज्ञकर्मसु ॥१४-९०-३७॥

(In that assembly always indeed disciples of Vyāsa, best among the twice-born, authors of all śāstras, skilled in sacrificial actions.)

नारदश्च बभूवात्र तुम्बुरुश्च महाद्युतिः। विश्वावसुश्चित्रसेनस्तथान्ये गीतकोविदाः ॥१४-९०-३८॥

gandharvā gītakuśalā nṛtteṣu ca viśāradāḥ। ramayanti sma tān viprān yajñakarmāntareṣu atha ॥14-90-39॥

(The Gandharvas, skilled in song, and adept in dances, indeed delight those Brāhmaṇas then during intervals of sacrificial rites.)
