Then Sātyaki, having risen in anger, spoke about the five sons of Draupadī, Dhṛṣṭadyumna, and Śikhaṇḍin. (16-4-24)
I now proceed on this path, and I swear by truth as well. In the Sauptika episode, those who were slain while sleeping by this evil-souled person. (16-4-25)
His lifespan and fame are ended today, with the help of Droṇa's son and the wicked Kṛtavarman, O fair-waisted one. (16-4-26)
Having thus spoken, the angry one rushed up with a sword near Keśava and cut off the head of Kṛtavarman. (16-4-27)
Then, when others were also striking Yuyudhāna (Sātyaki) on all sides, Dhṛṣīkeśa (Kṛṣṇa) swiftly approached, wishing to restrain them. (16-4-28)
Then, O great king, all the Bhojas and Andhakas, having become united and urged by the course of time, surrounded Satyaki. (16-4-29)
Janārdana, of great radiance, seeing those greatly enraged ones falling quickly, did not become angry, knowing it was the course of time. (16-4-30)
But they, overcome with drunkenness and impelled by anger, then attacked Yuyudhana with leftover vessels at that time. (16-4-31)
But when Sātyaki (the son of Śini) was being slain, Kṛṣṇa (the son of Rukmiṇī), enraged, immediately rushed forward, intending to rescue the son of Śini. (16-4-32)
He, along with the Bhojas, and Satyaki along with the Andhakas, both groups being many, were slain there in the presence of Kṛṣṇa. (16-4-33)
But when Yadunandana (Kṛṣṇa) saw Satyaki and his own son slain, then Keśava, angered, seized a handful of blades of grass. (16-4-34)
It became a dreadful pestle, like a thunderbolt, made of iron. With it, Kṛṣṇa struck down those who stood before him. (16-4-35)
Then the Andhakas, Bhojas, descendants of Śini, and the Vṛṣṇis likewise, impelled by Time, slew one another with pestles amidst outcry. (16-4-36)
O king, when some angry person among them seized the eraka grass, that grass then appeared as if it had become like a thunderbolt, O mighty one. (16-4-37)
O king, know that all (of it)—even the grass that had turned into a pestle, which was seen there—was created by the Brahma-staff. (16-4-38)
O king, as they swung and threw the grass, it was seen at that time to have become a firm club, like a thunderbolt.
O Bhārata, the son killed his father, and the father his son. Intoxicated, they were falling, striking one another. (16-4-40)
The Kukuras and Andhakas fell like moths into a fire; not one of those being slain had any thought of escape. (16-4-41)
But seeing him, the mighty-armed Madhusūdana, knowing the end of Time, stood firmly grasping the club. (16-4-42)
O Bhārata, Madhava, having seen Samba, Charudeṣṇa, Pradyumna, and Aniruddha slain, then became angry. (16-4-43)
Seeing the mace and the one lying there, greatly enraged, he—the holder of the Śārṅga bow, discus, and mace—then completely destroyed (them). (16-4-44)
When he was slaying, the mighty Babhru, conqueror of enemy cities, and Dāruka, both spoke these words to the descendant of Daśārha; hear what they said. (16-4-45)
O revered one, most of everything has been removed by you, O Acyuta. Search for Rāma's footprints; let us go there where he is. (16-4-46)
