Vaisesika Sūtra 7.2.21

ekadik-kābhyām eka-kāl-ābhyām sannikṛṣṭa-viprakṛṣṭābhyām parama-aparaṁ ca ॥21॥

Farther and nearer, and proximity and remoteness are determined in the context of the same direction, at the same time.
