एवमुक्तः स भगवाञ्शच्या पुनरथाब्रवीत्। विक्रमस्य न कालोऽयं नहुषो बलवत्तरः ॥५-१५-१॥

(Thus spoken, the revered one was addressed by Śacī again, then he said: 'This is not the time for valor, Nahuṣa is stronger.')

विवर्धितश्च ऋषिभिर्हव्यैः कव्यैश्च भामिनि। नीतिमत्र विधास्यामि देवि तां कर्तुमर्हसि ॥५-१५-२॥

ऋषियानेन दिव्येन मामुपैहि जगत्पते। एवं तव वशे प्रीता भविष्यामीति तं वद ॥५-१५-४॥
ṛṣiyānena divyena māmupaihi jagatpate। evaṃ tava vaśe prītā bhaviṣyāmīti taṃ vada ॥5-15-4॥

इत्युक्ता देवराजेन पत्नी सा कमलेक्षणा। एवमस्त्वित्यथोक्त्वा तु जगाम नहुषं प्रति ॥५-१५-५॥

नहुषस्तां ततो दृष्ट्वा विस्मितो वाक्यमब्रवीत्। स्वागतं ते वरारोहे किं करोमि शुचिस्मिते ॥५-१५-६॥
nahuṣastāṃ tato dṛṣṭvā vismito vākyamabravīt। svāgataṃ te varārohe kiṃ karomi śucismite ॥5-15-6॥
[नहुषः (nahuṣaḥ) - Nahusha; ताम् (tām) - her; ततः (tataḥ) - then; दृष्ट्वा (dṛṣṭvā) - having seen; विस्मितः (vismitaḥ) - astonished; वाक्यम् (vākyam) - words; अब्रवीत् (abravīt) - spoke; स्वागतं (svāgatam) - welcome; ते (te) - to you; वरारोहे (varārohe) - O lovely one; किम् (kim) - what; करोमि (karomi) - shall I do; शुचिस्मिते (śucismite) - O pure-smiled one;]
(Nahusha, then having seen her, astonished, spoke words: "Welcome to you, O lovely one, what shall I do, O pure-smiled one?")
Nahusha, upon seeing her, was astonished and said: "Welcome, O beautiful lady, what can I do for you, O one with a pure smile?"
भक्तं मां भज कल्याणि किमिच्छसि मनस्विनि। तव कल्याणि यत्कार्यं तत्करिष्ये सुमध्यमे ॥५-१५-७॥

(You do not deserve to be equal among demons or gods. Take the splendor of all with your own strength by sight. No one strong wants to stand in front of you.)

अपूर्वं वाहनमिदं त्वयोक्तं वरवर्णिनि। दृढं मे रुचितं देवि त्वद्वशोऽस्मि वरानने ॥५-१५-१५॥
apūrvaṃ vāhanam idaṃ tvayoktaṃ varavarṇini। dṛḍhaṃ me rucitaṃ devi tvadvaśo'smi varānane ॥5-15-15॥
[अपूर्वम् (apūrvam) - unprecedented; वाहनम् (vāhanam) - vehicle; इदम् (idam) - this; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; उक्तम् (uktam) - spoken; वरवर्णिनि (varavarṇini) - O beautiful one; दृढम् (dṛḍham) - firm; मे (me) - to me; रुचितम् (rucitam) - pleasing; देवि (devi) - O goddess; त्वत् (tvad) - your; वशः (vaśaḥ) - control; अस्मि (asmi) - am; वरानने (varānane) - O lovely-faced one;]

न ह्यल्पवीर्यो भवति यो वाहान्कुरुते मुनीन्। अहं तपस्वी बलवान्भूतभव्यभवत्प्रभुः ॥५-१५-१६॥
na hyalpavīryo bhavati yo vāhānkurute munīn। ahaṃ tapasvī balavānbhūtabhavyabhavatprabhuḥ ॥5-15-16॥
[न (na) - not; हि (hi) - indeed; अल्पवीर्यः (alpavīryaḥ) - of little strength; भवति (bhavati) - becomes; यः (yaḥ) - who; वाहान् (vāhān) - vehicles; कुरुते (kurute) - makes; मुनीन् (munīn) - sages; अहम् (aham) - I; तपस्वी (tapasvī) - ascetic; बलवान् (balavān) - strong; भूत (bhūta) - past; भव्य (bhavya) - future; भवत् (bhavat) - present; प्रभुः (prabhuḥ) - lord;]
(Not indeed of little strength becomes he who makes vehicles of sages. I am an ascetic, strong, lord of past, future, and present.)

मयि क्रुद्धे जगन्न स्यान्मयि सर्वं प्रतिष्ठितम्। देवदानवगन्धर्वाः किंनरोरगराक्षसाः ॥५-१५-१७॥
mayi kruddhe jagan na syān mayi sarvaṃ pratiṣṭhitam। devadānavagandharvāḥ kiṃnaroragarākṣasāḥ ॥5-15-17॥
[मयि (mayi) - in me; क्रुद्धे (kruddhe) - angry; जगत् (jagat) - world; न (na) - not; स्यात् (syāt) - would be; मयि (mayi) - in me; सर्वम् (sarvam) - all; प्रतिष्ठितम् (pratiṣṭhitam) - established; देव (deva) - gods; दानव (dānava) - demons; गन्धर्वाः (gandharvāḥ) - celestial musicians; किंनर (kiṃnara) - kinnaras; उरग (uraga) - serpents; राक्षसाः (rākṣasāḥ) - demons;]
(If I am angry, the world would not exist; all is established in me. Gods, demons, celestial musicians, kinnaras, serpents, and demons.)

(Not all the worlds are sufficient for my anger, O pure-smiled one. By the eye, I take away the brilliance of whom I see.)
O pure-smiled one, none of the worlds are enough to contain my anger. With my gaze, I diminish the brilliance of anyone I look upon.
तस्मात्ते वचनं देवि करिष्यामि न संशयः। सप्तर्षयो मां वक्ष्यन्ति सर्वे ब्रह्मर्षयस्तथा ॥ पश्य माहात्म्यमस्माकमृद्धिं च वरवर्णिनि ॥५-१५-१९॥
tasmātte vacanaṃ devi kariṣyāmi na saṃśayaḥ। saptarṣayo māṃ vakṣyanti sarve brahmarṣayastathā ॥ paśya māhātmyamasmākamṛddhiṃ ca varavarṇini ॥5-15-19॥

(Therefore, O goddess, I will do your word, no doubt. The seven sages and all the Brahma sages will tell me also. See our greatness and prosperity, O beautiful one.)
