यत्तच्छुक्रं महज्ज्योतिर्दीप्यमानं महद्यशः। तद्वै देवा उपासन्ते यस्मादर्को विराजते ॥ योगिनस्तं प्रपश्यन्ति भगवन्तं सनातनम् ॥५-४५-१॥
yattacchukraṃ mahajjyotirdīpyamānaṃ mahadyaśaḥ। tadvai devā upāsante yasmādarko virājate ॥ yoginastaṃ prapaśyanti bhagavantaṃ sanātanam ॥5-45-1॥
[यत् (yat) - which; तत् (tat) - that; शुक्रं (śukraṃ) - bright; महत् (mahat) - great; ज्योतिः (jyotiḥ) - light; दीप्यमानं (dīpyamānaṃ) - shining; महत् (mahat) - great; यशः (yaśaḥ) - glory; तत् (tat) - that; वै (vai) - indeed; देवाः (devāḥ) - gods; उपासन्ते (upāsante) - worship; यस्मात् (yasmāt) - from which; अर्कः (arkaḥ) - sun; विराजते (virājate) - shines; योगिनः (yoginaḥ) - yogis; तम् (tam) - that; प्रपश्यन्ति (prapaśyanti) - see; भगवन्तम् (bhagavantam) - divine; सनातनम् (sanātanam) - eternal;]
(Which is that bright, great light, shining with great glory; indeed, the gods worship that from which the sun shines. Yogis see that divine, eternal being.)
The bright and great light, shining with immense glory, is worshipped by the gods, for it is from this that the sun derives its radiance. Yogis perceive this as the eternal divine presence.
शुक्राद्ब्रह्म प्रभवति ब्रह्म शुक्रेण वर्धते। तच्छुक्रं ज्योतिषां मध्येऽतप्तं तपति तापनम् ॥ योगिनस्तं प्रपश्यन्ति भगवन्तं सनातनम् ॥५-४५-२॥

आपोऽथ अद्भ्यः सलिलस्य मध्ये; उभौ देवौ शिश्रियातेऽन्तरिक्षे। स सध्रीचीः स विषूचीर्वसाना; उभे बिभर्ति पृथिवीं दिवं च ॥ योगिनस्तं प्रपश्यन्ति भगवन्तं सनातनम् ॥५-४५-३॥

न सादृश्ये तिष्ठति रूपमस्य; न चक्षुषा पश्यति कश्चिदेनम्। मनीषयाथो मनसा हृदा च; य एवं विदुरमृतास्ते भवन्ति ॥ योगिनस्तं प्रपश्यन्ति भगवन्तं सनातनम् ॥५-४५-६॥

द्वादशपूगां सरितं देवरक्षितम्। मधु ईशन्तस्तदा सञ्चरन्ति घोरम् ॥ योगिनस्तं प्रपश्यन्ति भगवन्तं सनातनम् ॥५-४५-७॥

From the infinite, infinite manifestations arise; when infinite manifestations are removed from the infinite, the infinite still remains. The yogis perceive that eternal divine presence.
तस्माद्वै वायुरायातस्तस्मिंश्च प्रयतः सदा। तस्मादग्निश्च सोमश्च तस्मिंश्च प्राण आततः ॥५-४५-११॥
tasmād vai vāyur āyātas tasmiṁś ca prayataḥ sadā। tasmād agniś ca somaś ca tasmiṁś ca prāṇa ātaṭaḥ ॥5-45-11॥

(From that, indeed, the wind arrived, and in that, always engaged. From that, the fire and the moon, and in that, the life force spread.)

सर्वमेव ततो विद्यात्तत्तद्वक्तुं न शक्नुमः। योगिनस्तं प्रपश्यन्ति भगवन्तं सनातनम् ॥५-४५-१२॥

(All indeed should know then that we are not able to speak. Yogis see him, the blessed one, eternal.)

अपानं गिरति प्राणः प्राणं गिरति चन्द्रमाः। आदित्यो गिरते चन्द्रमादित्यं गिरते परः ॥ योगिनस्तं प्रपश्यन्ति भगवन्तं सनातनम् ॥५-४५-१३॥
apānaṁ girati prāṇaḥ prāṇaṁ girati candramāḥ। ādityo girate candramādityaṁ girate paraḥ ॥ yoginastaṁ prapaśyanti bhagavantaṁ sanātanam ॥5-45-13॥

(The life force swallows the downward breath, the moon swallows the life force. The sun swallows the moon, and the supreme swallows the sun. The yogis see him, the eternal divine.)

एकं पादं नोत्क्षिपति सलिलाद्धंस उच्चरन्। तं चेत्सततमृत्विजं न मृत्युर्नामृतं भवेत् ॥ योगिनस्तं प्रपश्यन्ति भगवन्तं सनातनम् ॥५-४५-१४॥
ekaṁ pādaṁ notkṣipati salilāddhaṁsa uccaran। taṁ cetsatatamṛtvijaṁ na mṛtyurnāmṛtaṁ bhavet ॥ yoginastaṁ prapaśyanti bhagavantaṁ sanātanam ॥5-45-14॥

(Thus, the god, the great soul, he, uttering the fire, the man. Who indeed knows that man, his soul does not perish here. Yogis see that divine eternal.)

यः सहस्रं सहस्राणां पक्षान्सन्तत्य सम्पतेत्। मध्यमे मध्य आगच्छेदपि चेत्स्यान्मनोजवः ॥ योगिनस्तं प्रपश्यन्ति भगवन्तं सनातनम् ॥५-४५-१६॥

(The form of this does not remain in the sight; those of pure essence see this. The wise, beneficial one should perceive with the mind; in the sky, they should seek refuge in him, they become immortal. Yogis see clearly the divine eternal one.)

(The person, of the size of a thumb, a great soul, is not seen; he is situated in the heart. Unborn, moving by day and by night, without fatigue; having known him, the sage remains contented.)
The great soul, though of the size of a thumb, is not visible as he resides in the heart. He is unborn and moves tirelessly day and night. Knowing him, the sage remains content and at peace.
अहमेवास्मि वो माता पिता पुत्रोऽस्म्यहं पुनः। आत्माहमपि सर्वस्य यच्च नास्ति यदस्ति च ॥५-४५-२५॥

(The self indeed is my place and birth; I am declared by the Veda as ageless and established. Smaller than the atom, well-minded, I awaken in all beings. They know the father of all beings placed in the lotus.)
The self is truly my foundation and origin; I am proclaimed by the Veda as eternal and steadfast. Subtler than the subtlest, with a clear mind, I am awake in all creatures. They recognize the father of all beings situated in the lotus.
