तत्र गच्छस्व भद्रं ते ब्रूयाश्चैनं वचो मम। अभिवाद्य पूर्वं शिरसा तपोवृद्धं दृढव्रतम् ॥५-१७५-३॥

तच्छ्रुत्वा वचनं भीष्मः संमन्त्र्य सह मन्त्रिभिः। निश्चित्य विससर्जेमां सत्यवत्या मते स्थितः ॥५-१७५-२३॥
tacchrutvā vacanaṃ bhīṣmaḥ saṃmantrya saha mantribhiḥ। niścitya visasarjemāṃ satyavatyā mate sthitaḥ ॥5-175-23॥

अनुज्ञाता तु भीष्मेण शाल्वं सौभपतिं ततः। कन्येयं मुदिता विप्र काले वचनमब्रवीत् ॥५-१७५-२४॥

भगवन्नेवमेवैतद्यथाह पृथिवीपतिः। शरीरकर्ता मातुर्मे सृञ्जयो होत्रवाहनः ॥५-१७५-२८॥
bhagavannevamevaitadyathāha pṛthivīpatiḥ। śarīrakartā māturme sṛñjayo hotravāhanaḥ ॥5-175-28॥

न ह्युत्सहे स्वनगरं प्रतियातुं तपोधन। अवमानभयाच्चैव व्रीडया च महामुने ॥५-१७५-२९॥
na hy utsahe svanagaraṃ pratiyātuṃ tapodhana। avamānabhayāccaiva vrīḍayā ca mahāmune ॥5-175-29॥
[न (na) - not; हि (hi) - indeed; उत्सहे (utsahe) - capable; स्वनगरं (svanagaram) - own city; प्रतियातुं (pratiyātum) - to return; तपोधन (tapodhana) - O sage; अवमानभयात् (avamānabhayāt) - from fear of disrespect; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - also; व्रीडया (vrīḍayā) - from shame; च (ca) - and; महामुने (mahāmune) - O great sage;]
(Indeed, I am not capable of returning to my own city, O sage, from fear of disrespect and also from shame, O great sage.)

yattu māṃ bhagavān rāmo vakṣyati dvijasattama। tanme kāryatamaṃ kāryam iti me bhagavanmatiḥ ॥5-175-30॥
[यत् (yat) - that; तु (tu) - but; माम् (mām) - me; भगवान् (bhagavān) - the divine; रामः (rāmaḥ) - Rama; वक्ष्यति (vakṣyati) - will say; द्विजसत्तम (dvijasattama) - O best of the twice-born; तत् (tat) - that; मे (me) - my; कार्यतमं (kāryatamaṃ) - most important duty; कार्यं (kāryam) - action; इति (iti) - thus; मे (me) - my; भगवन्मतिः (bhagavanmatiḥ) - divine opinion;]
(But what the divine Rama will say to me, O best of the twice-born, that is my most important duty, thus is my divine opinion.)
