arjunastu naravyāghra suśarmapramukhānnṛpān। anayatpretarājasya bhavanaṃ sāyakaiḥ śitaiḥ ॥6-100-1॥

(Arjuna, the tiger among men, sent the kings headed by Susharma to the abode of the king of the dead with sharp arrows.)
Arjuna, known as the tiger among men, defeated the kings led by Susharma and sent them to the abode of Yama, the god of death, using his sharp arrows.
सुशर्मापि ततो बाणैः पार्थं विव्याध संयुगे। वासुदेवं च सप्तत्या पार्थं च नवभिः पुनः ॥६-१००-२॥

(Suśarman also then pierced Arjuna with arrows in battle; and (pierced) Krishna with seventy (arrows) and Arjuna again with nine (arrows).)
Suśarman, in the battle, attacked Arjuna with his arrows. He also struck Krishna with seventy arrows and then targeted Arjuna again with nine arrows.
तान्निवार्य शरौघेण शक्रसूनुर्महारथः। सुशर्मणो रणे योधान्प्राहिणोद्यमसादनम् ॥६-१००-३॥
tānnivārya śaraugheṇa śakrasūnurmahārathaḥ। suśarmaṇo raṇe yodhānprāhiṇodyamasādanam ॥6-100-3॥

(Warding off them with a multitude of arrows, Indra's son, the great charioteer, sent the warriors of Susharma to the abode of Yama in battle.)

उत्सृज्य तुरगान्केचिद्रथान्केचिच्च मारिष। गजानन्ये समुत्सृज्य प्राद्रवन्त दिशो दश ॥६-१००-५॥
utsṛjya turagān kecid rathān kecic ca māriṣa। gajān anye samutsṛjya prādravanta diśo daśa ॥6-100-5॥

(Abandoning horses, some chariots, and O lord, others completely abandoning elephants, ran away in ten directions.)
Some abandoned their horses, others their chariots, and yet others, O lord, completely abandoned their elephants and fled in all directions.
अपरे तुद्यमानास्तु वाजिनागरथा रणात्। त्वरया परया युक्ताः प्राद्रवन्त विशां पते ॥६-१००-६॥
apare tudyamānāstu vājināgarathā raṇāt। tvarayā parayā yuktāḥ prādravanta viśāṃ pate ॥6-100-6॥

In the great battle, the foot-soldiers, indifferent to everything, abandoned their weapons and fled in all directions, O Bharata.
वार्यमाणाः स्म बहुशस्त्रैगर्तेन सुशर्मणा। तथान्यैः पार्थिवश्रेष्ठैर्न व्यतिष्ठन्त संयुगे ॥६-१००-८॥
vāryamāṇāḥ sma bahuśastraigartena suśarmaṇā। tathānyaiḥ pārthivaśreṣṭhairna vyatiṣṭhanta saṃyuge ॥6-100-8॥

(Being restrained repeatedly by Trigarta Susharman and also by other best kings, they did not stand in battle.)

तद्बलं प्रद्रुतं दृष्ट्वा पुत्रो दुर्योधनस्तव। पुरस्कृत्य रणे भीष्मं सर्वसैन्यपुरस्कृतम् ॥६-१००-९॥
tad-balaṁ pradrutaṁ dṛṣṭvā putro duryodhanas tava। puraskṛtya raṇe bhīṣmaṁ sarva-sainya-puraskṛtam ॥6-100-9॥

(Seeing that army fleeing, your son Duryodhana, placing Bhishma in front in the battle, with all the army placed in front.)
Upon seeing his army fleeing, your son Duryodhana placed Bhishma at the forefront in the battle, leading the entire army.
सर्वोद्योगेन महता धनञ्जयमुपाद्रवत्। त्रिगर्ताधिपतेरर्थे जीवितस्य विशां पते ॥६-१००-१०॥
sarvodyogena mahatā dhanañjayamupādravat। trigartādhipaterarthe jīvitasya viśāṃ pate ॥6-100-10॥

With all his might, he attacked Arjuna for the sake of the life of the king of Trigarta, O lord of the people.
स एकः समरे तस्थौ किरन्बहुविधाञ्शरान्। भ्रातृभिः सहितः सर्वैः शेषा विप्रद्रुता नराः ॥६-१००-११॥
sa ekaḥ samare tasthau kiranbahuvidhāñśarān। bhrātṛbhiḥ sahitaḥ sarvaiḥ śeṣā vipradrutā narāḥ ॥6-100-11॥

तथैव पण्डवा राजन्सर्वोद्योगेन दंशिताः। प्रययुः फल्गुनार्थाय यत्र भीष्मो व्यवस्थितः ॥६-१००-१२॥

(In the same way, O king, the Pandavas, urged with all efforts, set out for Arjuna's sake where Bhishma was situated.)
In the same manner, O king, the Pandavas, motivated by all efforts, proceeded to the place where Bhishma was positioned for the sake of Arjuna.
जानन्तोऽपि रणे शौर्यं घोरं गाण्डीवधन्वनः। हाहाकारकृतोत्साहा भीष्मं जग्मुः समन्ततः ॥६-१००-१३॥
jānanto'pi raṇe śauryaṃ ghoraṃ gāṇḍīvadhanvanaḥ। hāhākārakṛtotsāhā bhīṣmaṃ jagmuḥ samantataḥ ॥6-100-13॥
[जानन्तः (jānantaḥ) - knowing; अपि (api) - even; रणे (raṇe) - in battle; शौर्यम् (śauryam) - valor; घोरम् (ghoram) - terrible; गाण्डीवधन्वनः (gāṇḍīvadhanvanaḥ) - of the Gandiva-bowed one; हाहाकारकृतोत्साहाः (hāhākārakṛtotsāhāḥ) - encouraged by the uproar; भीष्मम् (bhīṣmam) - Bhishma; जग्मुः (jagmuḥ) - went; समन्ततः (samantataḥ) - all around;]
(Even knowing the terrible valor in battle of the Gandiva-bowed one, encouraged by the uproar, they went all around Bhishma.)
Despite knowing the formidable valor of Arjuna, who wields the Gandiva bow, the warriors, spurred by the tumult, surrounded Bhishma from all sides.
ततस्तालध्वजः शूरः पाण्डवानामनीकिनीम्। छादयामास समरे शरैः संनतपर्वभिः ॥६-१००-१४॥
tatastāladhvajaḥ śūraḥ pāṇḍavānāmanīkinīm। chādayāmāsa samare śaraiḥ saṁnataparvabhiḥ ॥6-100-14॥
[ततः (tataḥ) - then; तालध्वजः (tāladhvajaḥ) - Tāladhvaja; शूरः (śūraḥ) - heroic; पाण्डवानाम् (pāṇḍavānām) - of the Pāṇḍavas; अनीकिनीम् (anīkinīm) - army; छादयामास (chādayāmāsa) - covered; समरे (samare) - in battle; शरैः (śaraiḥ) - with arrows; संनतपर्वभिः (saṁnataparvabhiḥ) - with bent joints;]
(Then Tāladhvaja, the heroic one, covered the army of the Pāṇḍavas in battle with arrows having bent joints.)
Then the heroic Tāladhvaja covered the Pāṇḍavas' army in the battle with his arrows that had bent joints.
एकीभूतास्ततः सर्वे कुरवः पाण्डवैः सह। अयुध्यन्त महाराज मध्यं प्राप्ते दिवाकरे ॥६-१००-१५॥

(Then all the Kurus united with the Pandavas fought together, O great king, when the sun had reached the middle.)

सात्यकिः कृतवर्माणं विद्ध्वा पञ्चभिरायसैः। अतिष्ठदाहवे शूरः किरन्बाणान्सहस्रशः ॥६-१००-१६॥

(In the same way, King Drupada, having pierced Drona with sharp arrows, again pierced his charioteer with seventy and with seven.)

भीमसेनस्तु राजानं बाह्लिकं प्रपितामहम्। विद्ध्वानदन्महानादं शार्दूल इव कानने ॥६-१००-१८॥
bhīmasenastu rājānaṃ bāhlikaṃ prapitāmaham। viddhvānadam mahānādaṃ śārdūla iva kānane ॥6-100-18॥

(Bhimasena, having pierced King Bahlika, the great-grandfather, roared a great sound like a tiger in the forest.)
Bhimasena, after striking King Bahlika, the great-grandfather, let out a mighty roar, resembling a tiger in the forest.
आर्जुनिश्चित्रसेनेन विद्धो बहुभिराशुगैः। चित्रसेनं त्रिभिर्बाणैर्विव्याध हृदये भृशम् ॥६-१००-१९॥

समागतौ तौ तु रणे महामात्रौ व्यरोचताम्। यथा दिवि महाघोरौ राजन्बुधशनैश्चरौ ॥६-१००-२०॥

तस्याश्वांश्चतुरो हत्वा सूतं च नवभिः शरैः। ननाद बलवन्नादं सौभद्रः परवीरहा ॥६-१००-२१॥

(Having killed his four horses and the charioteer with nine arrows, Saubhadra, the destroyer of enemy heroes, roared a mighty roar.)
Saubhadra, the valiant son of Subhadra, after slaying the four horses and the charioteer with nine arrows, let out a powerful roar, striking fear into the hearts of his enemies.
हताश्वात्तु रथात्तूर्णमवप्लुत्य महारथः। आरुरोह रथं तूर्णं दुर्मुखस्य विशां पते ॥६-१००-२२॥
hatāśvāttu rathāttūrṇamavaplutya mahārathaḥ। āruroha rathaṃ tūrṇaṃ durmukhasya viśāṃ pate ॥6-100-22॥
[हताश्वात् (hatāśvāt) - from the destroyed chariot; तु (tu) - but; रथात् (rathāt) - from the chariot; तूर्णम् (tūrṇam) - quickly; अवप्लुत्य (avaplutya) - having jumped down; महारथः (mahārathaḥ) - the great warrior; आरुरोह (āruroha) - ascended; रथं (rathaṃ) - the chariot; तूर्णं (tūrṇaṃ) - quickly; दुर्मुखस्य (durmukhasya) - of Durmukha; विशां (viśāṃ) - of the people; पते (pate) - O lord;]
(From the destroyed chariot, the great warrior quickly jumped down and ascended Durmukha's chariot quickly, O lord of the people.)
