७.१९९ सात्यकिनिष्ठुरभाषणरुष्टेन धृष्टद्युम्नेन समर्मोद्धाटनं तद्गर्हणम्॥ धृष्टद्युम्नजिघांसया गदामुद्यम्यापततः सात्यकेः कृष्णचोदितेन भीमेन निवारणम्॥ सर्वेषां पुनर्युद्धोद्यमः॥
7.199 Satyaki's harsh words angered Dhrishtadyumna, causing a confrontation and rebuke. As Satyaki, with the intent to kill, raised his mace to attack Dhrishtadyumna, Bhima, prompted by Krishna, intervened. Once more, everyone prepared for battle.
७.२०० द्रोणमारणरुष्टेनाश्वत्थाम्ना वैरिसेनायां नारायणास्त्रप्रयोगः॥ अस्त्रतेजसा पीड्यमानानां कृष्णवचनात् यानावरोहणशस्त्रन्यासादिना आत्मरक्षणम्॥ भीमे एकस्मिन्नेव शस्त्रधारणेन प्रतियुध्यमाने सति तन्मस्तकेऽस्त्रस्य प्रज्वलनम्॥
7.200 Ashwatthama, angered by the death of Drona, used the Narayana weapon against the enemy army. As the brilliance of the weapon tormented them, Krishna advised them to protect themselves by descending from their vehicles and laying down their weapons. Bhima, however, continued to fight back with a single weapon, and the weapon blazed on his head.
७.२०१ नारयणास्त्रेणावेष्टिते भीमे कृष्णार्जुनाश्यां हस्ततः शस्त्रापकर्षणपूर्वकं रथादवरोपिते सत्यस्त्रस्य प्रशमनम्॥ ततः सङ्कुलयुद्धम्॥
7.201 In the presence of Krishna and Arjuna, Bhima was enveloped by the weapon of Narayana. He descended from the chariot, drawing weapons from his hand, leading to the pacification of the true weapon. Then, a chaotic battle ensued.
७.२०२ नारायणास्त्रे विफलीकृते पुनरश्वत्थाम्नाऽऽग्नेयास्त्रप्रयोगः॥ तस्यापि पार्थेन व्यर्थीकरणे दूयमानेन द्रौणिना शस्त्रन्यासपूर्वकं रणाङ्कणान्निर्गमनम्॥ निर्गच्छता च तेन यदृच्छासमागतं व्यासं प्रति निजास्त्रवैफल्यकारणप्रश्नः॥ व्यासेन कृष्णार्जुनयोर्नरनारायणात्मकत्वे कथिते प्रतिनिवृत्तेन द्रौणिना सेनावहारः॥
7.202 When the Narayana weapon was rendered ineffective, Ashvatthama again used the Agneya weapon. This too was made ineffective by Arjuna, causing distress to Drona's son, who then laid down his arms and left the battlefield. As he departed, he accidentally met Vyasa and questioned him about the failure of his weapon. Vyasa explained that Krishna and Arjuna were the embodiments of Nara and Narayana. Understanding this, Drona's son withdrew the army.
७.२०३ इतरालक्षितं पुरतः स्वानुकूलं युध्यमानं शूलपाणिं कञ्चन पुरुषप्रवरमवलोकयता पार्थेन स क इति यदृच्छासमागतं व्यासं प्रति प्रश्नः॥ तेन तम्प्रति तस्य तस्य पशुपतित्वोक्त्या शतरुद्रीयपठनेन सविस्तरं तद्गुणगणवर्णनम्॥
7.203 Arjuna, unnoticed by others, saw a distinguished man fighting with a trident in hand and asked Vyasa, who was there by chance, "Who is he?" Vyasa then explained in detail about his qualities, mentioning his association with Pashupati and the recitation of the Shatarudriya.
