7.200 Ashwatthama, angered by the death of Drona, used the Narayana weapon against the enemy army. As the brilliance of the weapon tormented them, Krishna advised them to protect themselves by descending from their vehicles and laying down their weapons. Bhima, however, continued to fight back with a single weapon, and the weapon blazed on his head.

As he departed, he accidentally met Vyasa and questioned him about the failure of his weapon. Vyasa explained that Krishna and Arjuna were the embodiments of Nara and Narayana. Understanding this, Drona's son withdrew the army.
