Pancharatra and Core: Krishna warns of the difficulty in fulfilling his vow, but Arjuna reassures himself and others.

असंमन्त्र्य मया सार्धमतिभारोऽयमुद्यतः। कथं नु सर्वलोकस्य नावहास्या भवेमहि ॥७-५३-३॥
asaṁmantrya mayā sārdhamatibhāro'yamudyataḥ। kathaṁ nu sarvalokasya nāvahāsyā bhavemahi ॥7-53-3॥

धार्तराष्ट्रस्य शिबिरे मया प्रणिहिताश्चराः। त इमे शीघ्रमागम्य प्रवृत्तिं वेदयन्ति नः ॥७-५३-४॥

In the camp of Dhritarashtra, the spies I have sent come swiftly and report the information to us.
त्वया वै सम्प्रतिज्ञाते सिन्धुराजवधे तदा। सिंहनादः सवादित्रः सुमहानिह तैः श्रुतः ॥७-५३-५॥
tvayā vai sampratijñāte sindhurājavadhe tadā। siṃhanādaḥ svādritraḥ sumahāniha taiḥ śrutaḥ ॥7-53-5॥

सुमहाञ्शब्दसम्पातः कौरवाणां महाभुज। आसीन्नागाश्वपत्तीनां रथघोषश्च भैरवः ॥७-५३-७॥

अभिमन्युवधं श्रुत्वा ध्रुवमार्तो धनञ्जयः। रात्रौ निर्यास्यति क्रोधादिति मत्वा व्यवस्थिताः ॥७-५३-८॥

(Having heard of Abhimanyu's death, Arjuna, certainly distressed, will go out at night out of anger, thus thinking, they were prepared.)
Upon hearing of Abhimanyu's death, Arjuna was deeply distressed and it was certain that he would go out at night driven by anger. Thus, they prepared themselves for it.
तैर्यतद्भिरियं सत्या श्रुता सत्यवतस्तव। प्रतिज्ञा सिन्धुराजस्य वधे राजीवलोचन ॥७-५३-९॥
tairyatadbhiriyaṃ satyā śrutā satyavatastava। pratijñā sindhurājasya vadhe rājīvalocana ॥7-53-9॥

ततो विमनसः सर्वे त्रस्ताः क्षुद्रमृगा इव। आसन्सुयोधनामात्याः स च राजा जयद्रथः ॥७-५३-१०॥
tato vimanasaḥ sarve trastāḥ kṣudramṛgā iva। āsansuyodhanāmātyāḥ sa ca rājā jayadrathaḥ ॥7-53-10॥

अथोत्थाय सहामात्यैर्दीनः शिबिरमात्मनः। आयात्सौवीरसिन्धूनामीश्वरो भृशदुःखितः ॥७-५३-११॥
athotthāya sahāmātyairdīnaḥ śibiramātmanaḥ। āyātsauvīrasindhūnāmīśvaro bhṛśaduḥkhitaḥ ॥7-53-11॥

(Then, having risen with his ministers, the distressed lord of Sauvīra and Sindhu came to his own camp, greatly distressed.)

(He, having consulted at the time of consultation all beneficial actions, said this speech to Suyodhana in the royal assembly.)

मामसौ पुत्रहन्तेति श्वोऽभियाता धनञ्जयः। प्रतिज्ञातो हि सेनाया मध्ये तेन वधो मम ॥७-५३-१३॥
māmasau putrahanteti śvo'bhiyātā dhanañjayaḥ। pratijñāto hi senāyā madhye tena vadho mama ॥7-53-13॥

(Arjuna, the son-killer, will attack me tomorrow, thus promised indeed in the midst of the army, by him, the killing of me.)
Arjuna, known as the son-killer, has promised to attack me tomorrow in the midst of the army, ensuring my death.
तां न देवा न गन्धर्वा नासुरोरगराक्षसाः। उत्सहन्तेऽन्यथा कर्तुं प्रतिज्ञां सव्यसाचिनः ॥७-५३-१४॥
tāṁ na devā na gandharvā nāsuroragarākṣasāḥ। utsahante'nyathā kartuṁ pratijñāṁ savyasācinaḥ ॥7-53-14॥

(Neither gods, nor celestial beings, nor demons, nor serpents, nor ogres are able to alter the vow of Arjuna.)
No divine being, celestial, demon, serpent, or ogre can change the vow made by Arjuna.
ते मां रक्षत सङ्ग्रामे मा वो मूर्ध्नि धनञ्जयः। पदं कृत्वाप्नुयाल्लक्ष्यं तस्मादत्र विधीयताम् ॥७-५३-१५॥

(They protect me in battle; let not Arjuna take a step on your head and attain the target; therefore, let it be arranged here.)

अथ रक्षा न मे सङ्ख्ये क्रियते कुरुनन्दन। अनुजानीहि मां राजन्गमिष्यामि गृहान्प्रति ॥७-५३-१६॥

(Now, protection is not done for me in battle, O descendant of Kuru. Permit me, O king, I shall go towards home.)

एवमुक्तस्त्ववाक्षीर्षो विमनाः स सुयोधनः। श्रुत्वाभिशप्तवन्तं त्वां ध्यानमेवान्वपद्यत ॥७-५३-१७॥
evamuktastvavākṣīrṣo vimanāḥ sa suyodhanaḥ। śrutvābhiśaptavantaṃ tvāṃ dhyānamevānvapadyata ॥7-53-17॥

(Thus spoken, with head bowed and disheartened, Suyodhana, having heard you cursed, entered into meditation indeed.)

तमार्तमभिसम्प्रेक्ष्य राजा किल स सैन्धवः। मृदु चात्महितं चैव सापेक्षमिदमुक्तवान् ॥७-५३-१८॥
tamārtamabhisamprekṣya rājā kila sa saindhavaḥ। mṛdu cātmahitaṃ caiva sāpekṣamidamuktavān ॥7-53-18॥
[तम् (tam) - him; आर्तम् (ārtam) - distressed; अभिसम्प्रेक्ष्य (abhisamprekṣya) - having seen; राजा (rājā) - the king; किल (kila) - indeed; स (sa) - he; सैन्धवः (saindhavaḥ) - the Sindhu king; मृदु (mṛdu) - gently; च (ca) - and; आत्महितम् (ātmahitam) - for his own benefit; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; सापेक्षम् (sāpekṣam) - considerately; इदम् (idam) - this; उक्तवान् (uktavān) - said;]
(Having seen him distressed, the king, indeed, the Sindhu king, gently and for his own benefit, considerately said this.)

नाहं पश्यामि भवतां तथावीर्यं धनुर्धरम्। योऽर्जुनस्यास्त्रमस्त्रेण प्रतिहन्यान्महाहवे ॥७-५३-१९॥
nāhaṃ paśyāmi bhavatāṃ tathāvīryaṃ dhanurdharam। yo'rjunasyāstramastreṇa pratihanyānmahāhave ॥7-53-19॥

(I do not see among you such strength in an archer who could counter Arjuna's weapon with a weapon in the great battle.)

वासुदेवसहायस्य गाण्डीवं धुन्वतो धनुः। कोऽर्जुनस्याग्रतस्तिष्ठेत्साक्षादपि शतक्रतुः ॥७-५३-२०॥

(Who can stand in front of Arjuna, wielding the Gāṇḍīva bow, with Vāsudeva as his helper, even Indra directly?)
Even Indra himself cannot stand before Arjuna, who wields the Gāṇḍīva bow with Vāsudeva's assistance.
महेश्वरोऽपि पार्थेन श्रूयते योधितः पुरा। पदातिना महातेजा गिरौ हिमवति प्रभुः ॥७-५३-२१॥
maheśvaro'pi pārthena śrūyate yodhitaḥ purā। padātinā mahātejā girau himavati prabhuḥ ॥7-53-21॥
[महेश्वरः (maheśvaraḥ) - great lord; अपि (api) - also; पार्थेन (pārthena) - by Arjuna; श्रूयते (śrūyate) - is heard; योधितः (yodhitaḥ) - fought; पुरा (purā) - formerly; पदातिना (padātinā) - on foot; महातेजा (mahātejā) - of great splendor; गिरौ (girau) - on the mountain; हिमवति (himavati) - Himalayas; प्रभुः (prabhuḥ) - the lord;]
(The great lord is also heard to have fought with Arjuna formerly, on foot, of great splendor, on the mountain in the Himalayas.)
It is said that the great lord Shiva, in his splendor, once fought with Arjuna on foot in the Himalayas.
दानवानां सहस्राणि हिरण्यपुरवासिनाम्। जघानेकरथेनैव देवराजप्रचोदितः ॥७-५३-२२॥
dānavānāṃ sahasrāṇi hiraṇyapuravāsinām। jaghānekarathenaiva devarājapracoditaḥ ॥7-53-22॥

(The arrows dispatched by Gandiva, equal to the mind and wind in speed, made men, elephants, and horses lifeless by thousands.)
The arrows shot from Gandiva were as swift as the mind and wind, rendering thousands of men, elephants, and horses lifeless.
यमात्कुबेराद्वरुणाद्रुद्रादिन्द्राच्च यन्मया। उपात्तमस्त्रं घोरं वै तद्द्रष्टारो नरा युधि ॥७-५३-४३॥
yamātkuberādvaruṇādrudrādindrācca yanmayā। upāttamastraṃ ghoraṃ vai taddraṣṭāro narā yudhi ॥7-53-43॥
[यमात् (yamāt) - from Yama; कुबेरात् (kuberāt) - from Kubera; वरुणात् (varuṇāt) - from Varuṇa; रुद्रात् (rudrāt) - from Rudra; इन्द्राच्च (indrācca) - and from Indra; यत् (yat) - which; मया (mayā) - by me; उपात्तम् (upāttam) - obtained; अस्त्रं (astraṃ) - weapon; घोरं (ghoraṃ) - terrible; वै (vai) - indeed; तत् (tat) - that; द्रष्टारः (draṣṭāraḥ) - seers; नराः (narāḥ) - men; युधि (yudhi) - in battle;]
(The terrible weapon which I obtained from Yama, Kubera, Varuṇa, Rudra, and also from Indra, indeed, that the seers, the men, in battle.)
The men in battle witnessed the terrible weapon that I had obtained from Yama, Kubera, Varuṇa, Rudra, and Indra.
ब्राह्मेणास्त्रेण चास्त्राणि हन्यमानानि संयुगे। मया द्रष्टासि सर्वेषां सैन्धवस्याभिरक्षिणाम् ॥७-५३-४४॥
brāhmeṇāstreṇa cāstrāṇi hanyamānāni saṃyuge। mayā draṣṭāsi sarveṣāṃ saindhavasyābhirakṣiṇām ॥7-53-44॥
[ब्राह्मेण (brāhmeṇa) - by the Brahma weapon; अस्त्रेण (astreṇa) - by the weapon; च (ca) - and; अस्त्राणि (astrāṇi) - weapons; हन्यमानानि (hanyamānāni) - being destroyed; संयुगे (saṃyuge) - in the battle; मया (mayā) - by me; द्रष्टासि (draṣṭāsi) - you will see; सर्वेषां (sarveṣāṃ) - of all; सैन्धवस्य (saindhavasya) - of the Sindhu prince; अभिरक्षिणाम् (abhirakṣiṇām) - of the protectors;]
(By the Brahma weapon and the weapon, the weapons being destroyed in the battle, you will see by me of all the protectors of the Sindhu prince.)
In the battle, you will see all the weapons being destroyed by the Brahma weapon and other weapons, as I protect the Sindhu prince.
शरवेगसमुत्कृत्तै राज्ञां केशव मूर्धभिः। आस्तीर्यमाणां पृथिवीं द्रष्टासि श्वो मया युधि ॥७-५३-४५॥
śaravegasamutkṛttai rājñāṃ keśava mūrdhabhiḥ। āstīryamāṇāṃ pṛthivīṃ draṣṭāsi śvo mayā yudhi ॥7-53-45॥
[शरवेगसमुत्कृत्तै (śaravegasamutkṛttai) - cut off by the speed of arrows; राज्ञां (rājñāṃ) - of the kings; केशव (keśava) - O Keśava; मूर्धभिः (mūrdhabhiḥ) - with heads; आस्तीर्यमाणां (āstīryamāṇāṃ) - being spread; पृथिवीं (pṛthivīṃ) - earth; द्रष्टासि (draṣṭāsi) - you will see; श्वः (śvaḥ) - tomorrow; मया (mayā) - by me; युधि (yudhi) - in battle;]
(With heads of kings cut off by the speed of arrows, O Keśava, you will see the earth being spread tomorrow by me in battle.)
O Keśava, tomorrow you will witness the earth covered with the heads of kings, severed by the swift arrows, in the battle by me.
क्रव्यादांस्तर्पयिष्यामि द्रावयिष्यामि शात्रवान्। सुहृदो नन्दयिष्यामि पातयिष्यामि सैन्धवम् ॥७-५३-४६॥
kravyādāṁstarpayiṣyāmi drāvayiṣyāmi śātravān। suhṛdo nandayiṣyāmi pātayiṣyāmi saindhavam ॥7-53-46॥
[क्रव्यादान् (kravyādān) - carnivores; तर्पयिष्यामि (tarpayiṣyāmi) - I will satisfy; द्रावयिष्यामि (drāvayiṣyāmi) - I will drive away; शात्रवान् (śātravān) - enemies; सुहृदः (suhṛdaḥ) - friends; नन्दयिष्यामि (nandayiṣyāmi) - I will make happy; पातयिष्यामि (pātayiṣyāmi) - I will cause to fall; सैन्धवम् (saindhavam) - salt; ॥७-५३-४६॥ (॥7-53-46॥) - (verse number);]
(I will satisfy the carnivores, drive away the enemies, make the friends happy, and cause the salt to fall.)
I will appease the carnivores, repel the enemies, bring joy to the friends, and let the salt fall.
बह्वागस्कृत्कुसम्बन्धी पापदेशसमुद्भवः। मया सैन्धवको राजा हतः स्वाञ्शोचयिष्यति ॥७-५३-४७॥
bahvāgaskṛtkusambandhī pāpadeśasamudbhavaḥ। mayā saindhavako rājā hataḥ svāñśocayiṣyati ॥7-53-47॥
[बहु (bahu) - much; अगस्कृत् (agaskṛt) - sinful; कुसम्बन्धी (kusambandhī) - badly related; पाप (pāpa) - evil; देश (deśa) - country; समुद्भवः (samudbhavaḥ) - originated; मया (mayā) - by me; सैन्धवकः (saindhavakaḥ) - Saindhava; राजा (rājā) - king; हतः (hataḥ) - killed; स्वान् (svān) - his own; शोचयिष्यति (śocayiṣyati) - will lament;]
(The sinful, badly related, evil-originated king of the Saindhava, who is from a wicked country, has been killed by me; he will lament for his own.)
The king of the Saindhava, who was sinful and had bad relations, originating from an evil country, has been killed by me; he will mourn for his own people.
सर्वक्षीरान्नभोक्तारः पापाचारा रणाजिरे। मया सराजका बाणैर्नुन्ना नङ्क्ष्यन्ति सैन्धवाः ॥७-५३-४८॥
sarvakṣīrānna-bhoktāraḥ pāpācārā raṇājire। mayā sarājakā bāṇairnunnā naṅkṣyanti saindhavāḥ ॥7-53-48॥
[सर्व (sarva) - all; क्षीरान्न (kṣīrānna) - milk and rice; भोक्तारः (bhoktāraḥ) - eaters; पापाचारा (pāpācārā) - wicked in conduct; रणाजिरे (raṇājire) - in the battlefield; मया (mayā) - by me; सराजका (sarājakā) - with kings; बाणैः (bāṇaiḥ) - with arrows; नुन्नाः (nunnāḥ) - pierced; नङ्क्ष्यन्ति (naṅkṣyanti) - will perish; सैन्धवाः (saindhavāḥ) - the Sindhus;]
(All eaters of milk and rice, wicked in conduct, in the battlefield, pierced by me with arrows along with kings, the Sindhus will perish.)
All those who consume milk and rice and are wicked in their conduct will perish in the battlefield, pierced by my arrows along with the kings, the Sindhus.
तथा प्रभाते कर्तास्मि यथा कृष्ण सुयोधनः। नान्यं धनुर्धरं लोके मंस्यते मत्समं युधि ॥७-५३-४९॥
tathā prabhāte kartāsmi yathā kṛṣṇa suyodhanaḥ। nānyaṃ dhanurdharaṃ loke maṃsyate matsamaṃ yudhi ॥7-53-49॥
[तथा (tathā) - thus; प्रभाते (prabhāte) - in the morning; कर्ता (kartā) - doer; अस्मि (asmi) - am; यथा (yathā) - as; कृष्ण (kṛṣṇa) - Krishna; सुयोधनः (suyodhanaḥ) - Suyodhana; न (na) - not; अन्यं (anyaṃ) - other; धनुर्धरं (dhanurdharaṃ) - archer; लोके (loke) - in the world; मंस्यते (maṃsyate) - will consider; मत्समं (matsamaṃ) - equal to me; युधि (yudhi) - in battle;]
(Thus, in the morning, I am the doer as Krishna and Suyodhana. No other archer in the world will consider equal to me in battle.)

गाण्डीवं च धनुर्दिव्यं योद्धा चाहं नरर्षभ। त्वं च यन्ता हृषीकेश किं नु स्यादजितं मया ॥७-५३-५०॥
gāṇḍīvaṁ ca dhanurdivyaṁ yoddhā cāhaṁ nararṣabha। tvaṁ ca yantā hṛṣīkeśa kiṁ nu syādajitaṁ mayā ॥7-53-50॥
[गाण्डीवं (gāṇḍīvaṁ) - Gandiva bow; च (ca) - and; धनुर्दिव्यं (dhanurdivyaṁ) - divine bow; योद्धा (yoddhā) - warrior; च (ca) - and; अहं (ahaṁ) - I; नरर्षभ (nararṣabha) - O best of men; त्वं (tvaṁ) - you; च (ca) - and; यन्ता (yantā) - charioteer; हृषीकेश (hṛṣīkeśa) - Hrishikesha; किं (kiṁ) - what; नु (nu) - indeed; स्यात् (syāt) - would be; अजितं (ajitaṁ) - unconquered; मया (mayā) - by me;]
(Gandiva bow and divine bow, warrior and I, O best of men, you and charioteer Hrishikesha, what indeed would be unconquered by me?)
With the Gandiva bow and divine weapons, as a warrior and I being the best among men, and you as the charioteer Hrishikesha, what indeed could remain unconquered by me?
यथा हि लक्ष्म चन्द्रे वै समुद्रे च यथा जलम्। एवमेतां प्रतिज्ञां मे सत्यां विद्धि जनार्दन ॥७-५३-५१॥
yathā hi lakṣma candre vai samudre ca yathā jalam। evametāṃ pratijñāṃ me satyāṃ viddhi janārdana ॥7-53-51॥
[यथा (yathā) - as; हि (hi) - indeed; लक्ष्म (lakṣma) - mark; चन्द्रे (candre) - on the moon; वै (vai) - indeed; समुद्रे (samudre) - in the ocean; च (ca) - and; यथा (yathā) - as; जलम् (jalam) - water; एवम् (evam) - thus; एतां (etāṃ) - this; प्रतिज्ञां (pratijñāṃ) - promise; मे (me) - my; सत्यां (satyāṃ) - true; विद्धि (viddhi) - know; जनार्दन (janārdana) - O Janardana;]
(As indeed the mark on the moon, and as water in the ocean, thus know this promise of mine to be true, O Janardana.)
Just as the mark on the moon and the water in the ocean are certain, know this promise of mine to be true, O Janardana.
मावमंस्था ममास्त्राणि मावमंस्था धनुर्दृढम्। मावमंस्था बलं बाह्वोर्मावमंस्था धनञ्जयम् ॥७-५३-५२॥
māvamaṃsthā mamāstrāṇi māvamaṃsthā dhanurdṛḍham। māvamaṃsthā balaṃ bāhvormāvamaṃsthā dhanañjayam ॥7-53-52॥
[मावमंस्था (māvamaṃsthā) - do not disregard; मम (mama) - my; अस्त्राणि (astrāṇi) - weapons; मावमंस्था (māvamaṃsthā) - do not disregard; धनु (dhanu) - bow; दृढम् (dṛḍham) - firm; मावमंस्था (māvamaṃsthā) - do not disregard; बलम् (balam) - strength; बाह्वोः (bāhvoḥ) - of arms; मावमंस्था (māvamaṃsthā) - do not disregard; धनञ्जयम् (dhanañjayam) - Arjuna;]
(Do not disregard my weapons; do not disregard the firm bow; do not disregard the strength of arms; do not disregard Arjuna.)
Do not underestimate my weapons, the firmness of my bow, the strength of my arms, or Arjuna.
यथा हि यात्वा सङ्ग्रामे न जीये विजयामि च। तेन सत्येन सङ्ग्रामे हतं विद्धि जयद्रथम् ॥७-५३-५३॥
yathā hi yātvā saṅgrāme na jīye vijayāmi ca। tena satyena saṅgrāme hataṃ viddhi jayadratham ॥7-53-53॥
[यथा (yathā) - as; हि (hi) - indeed; यात्वा (yātvā) - having gone; सङ्ग्रामे (saṅgrāme) - in battle; न (na) - not; जीये (jīye) - I am defeated; विजयामि (vijayāmi) - I conquer; च (ca) - and; तेन (tena) - by that; सत्येन (satyena) - truth; सङ्ग्रामे (saṅgrāme) - in battle; हतं (hataṃ) - killed; विद्धि (viddhi) - know; जयद्रथम् (jayadratham) - Jayadratha;]
(As indeed, having gone to battle, I am not defeated and I conquer. By that truth, know Jayadratha is killed in battle.)
"As I go to battle, I am neither defeated nor do I conquer. By this truth, know that Jayadratha has been slain in battle."
ध्रुवं वै ब्राह्मणे सत्यं ध्रुवा साधुषु संनतिः। श्रीर्ध्रुवा चापि दक्षेषु ध्रुवो नारायणे जयः ॥७-५३-५४॥
dhruvaṁ vai brāhmaṇe satyaṁ dhruvā sādhuṣu saṁnatiḥ। śrīrdhruvā cāpi dakṣeṣu dhruvo nārāyaṇe jayaḥ ॥7-53-54॥
[ध्रुवं (dhruvam) - certainly; वै (vai) - indeed; ब्राह्मणे (brāhmaṇe) - in a brāhmaṇa; सत्यं (satyaṁ) - truth; ध्रुवा (dhruvā) - firm; साधुषु (sādhuṣu) - in the virtuous; संनतिः (saṁnatiḥ) - humility; श्रीः (śrīḥ) - prosperity; ध्रुवा (dhruvā) - firm; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; दक्षेषु (dakṣeṣu) - in the skillful; ध्रुवः (dhruvaḥ) - firm; नारायणे (nārāyaṇe) - in Nārāyaṇa; जयः (jayaḥ) - victory;]
(Certainly, truth is firm in a brāhmaṇa; humility is firm in the virtuous; prosperity is also firm in the skillful; victory is firm in Nārāyaṇa.)
Indeed, truth is steadfast in a brāhmaṇa; humility resides in the virtuous; prosperity is assured in the skillful; and victory is certain in Nārāyaṇa.
सञ्जय उवाच॥

एवमुक्त्वा हृषीकेशं स्वयमात्मानमात्मना। संदिदेशार्जुनो नर्दन्वासविः केशवं प्रभुम् ॥७-५३-५५॥
evamuktvā hṛṣīkeśaṃ svayamātmānamātmanā। sandideśārjuno nardanvāsaviḥ keśavaṃ prabhum ॥7-53-55॥
[एवम् (evam) - thus; उक्त्वा (uktvā) - having spoken; हृषीकेशम् (hṛṣīkeśam) - to Hrishikesha; स्वयम् (svayam) - himself; आत्मानम् (ātmānam) - self; आत्मना (ātmanā) - by the self; संदिदेश (sandideśa) - instructed; अर्जुनः (arjunaḥ) - Arjuna; नर्दन्वासविः (nardanvāsaviḥ) - the descendant of Nardana and Vasava; केशवम् (keśavam) - to Keshava; प्रभुम् (prabhum) - the lord;]
(Thus, having spoken to Hrishikesha, Arjuna, the descendant of Nardana and Vasava, instructed Keshava, the lord, himself, by the self.)
After speaking in this manner to Hrishikesha, Arjuna, the descendant of Nardana and Vasava, gave instructions to Lord Keshava himself.
यथा प्रभातां रजनीं कल्पितः स्याद्रथो मम। तथा कार्यं त्वया कृष्ण कार्यं हि महदुद्यतम् ॥७-५३-५६॥
yathā prabhātāṃ rajanīṃ kalpitaḥ syādratho mama। tathā kāryaṃ tvayā kṛṣṇa kāryaṃ hi mahadudyatam ॥7-53-56॥
[यथा (yathā) - as; प्रभातां (prabhātāṃ) - dawn; रजनीं (rajanīṃ) - night; कल्पितः (kalpitaḥ) - imagined; स्यात् (syāt) - would be; रथः (rathaḥ) - chariot; मम (mama) - my; तथा (tathā) - so; कार्यं (kāryaṃ) - task; त्वया (tvayā) - by you; कृष्ण (kṛṣṇa) - Krishna; कार्यं (kāryaṃ) - task; हि (hi) - indeed; महत् (mahat) - great; उद्यतम् (udyatam) - undertaken;]
(As the night would be imagined as dawn, so the task by you, Krishna, indeed a great task is undertaken.)
Just as the night is imagined to be dawn, so too, Krishna, a great task is indeed undertaken by you.
