यदि मां देवताः सर्वा योधयेयुः सवासवाः। तथापि मे भयं न स्यात्किमु पार्थात्सकेशवात् ॥८-३०-३॥
yadi māṁ devatāḥ sarvā yodhayeyuḥ savāsavāḥ। tathāpi me bhayaṁ na syātkimu pārthātsakeśavāt ॥8-30-3॥

(If all the gods, along with Indra, were to fight me, still my fear would not be; what to say of from Arjuna with Keshava.)
Even if all the gods, including Indra, were to fight against me, I would still have no fear; what then of facing Arjuna with Keshava?
नाहं भीषयितुं शक्यो वाङ्मात्रेण कथञ्चन। अन्यं जानीहि यः शक्यस्त्वया भीषयितुं रणे ॥८-३०-४॥
nāhaṁ bhīṣayituṁ śakyo vāṅmātreṇa kathañcana। anyaṁ jānīhi yaḥ śakyastvayā bhīṣayituṁ raṇe ॥8-30-4॥

(I am not able to be frightened by words alone in any way. Know another who is able to be frightened by you in battle.)
"I cannot be frightened merely by words. Find someone else who can be intimidated by you in battle."
नीचस्य बलमेतावत्पारुष्यं यत्त्वमात्थ माम्। अशक्तोऽस्मद्गुणान्प्राप्तुं वल्गसे बहु दुर्मते ॥८-३०-५॥
nīcasya balametāvatpāruṣyaṃ yattvamāttha mām। aśakto'smadguṇānprāptuṃ valgase bahu durmate ॥8-30-5॥
[नीचस्य (nīcasya) - of the low; बलम् (balam) - strength; एतावत् (etāvat) - this much; पारुष्यं (pāruṣyaṃ) - harshness; यत् (yat) - which; त्वम् (tvam) - you; आत्थ (āttha) - say; माम् (mām) - to me; अशक्तः (aśaktaḥ) - unable; अस्मद् (asmad) - our; गुणान् (guṇān) - qualities; प्राप्तुं (prāptuṃ) - to attain; वल्गसे (valgase) - you boast; बहु (bahu) - much; दुर्मते (durmate) - O wicked-minded;]
(The strength of the low is this much harshness which you say to me. Unable to attain our qualities, you boast much, O wicked-minded.)
"The strength of the lowly is only in their harsh words," you say to me. Unable to attain our virtues, you boast excessively, O wicked-minded one.
न हि कर्णः समुद्भूतो भयार्थमिह मारिष। विक्रमार्थमहं जातो यशोर्थं च तथैव च ॥८-३०-६॥
na hi karṇaḥ samudbhūto bhayārtham iha māriṣa। vikramārtham ahaṃ jāto yaśortham ca tathaiva ca ॥8-30-6॥

देशांश्च विविधांश्चित्रान्पूर्ववृत्तांश्च पार्थिवान्। ब्राह्मणाः कथयन्तः स्म धृतराष्ट्रमुपासते ॥८-३०-८॥

धानागौडासवे पीत्वा गोमांसं लशुनैः सह। अपूपमांसवाट्यानामाशिनः शीलवर्जिताः ॥८-३०-१५॥

(Of them, indeed, arrogant, living in Kurujangala, someone of the leaders of Bahlika, not very pleased, sang.)

सा नूनं बृहती गौरी सूक्ष्मकम्बलवासिनी। मामनुस्मरती शेते बाह्लीकं कुरुवासिनम् ॥८-३०-२०॥
sā nūnaṃ bṛhatī gaurī sūkṣmakambalavāsinī। māmanusmaratī śete bāhlīkaṃ kuruvāsinam ॥8-30-20॥

(She indeed, the great fair one, wearing a thin blanket, lies remembering me, the Bahlika, dweller of Kuru.)
She, the great fair lady, wearing a thin blanket, is indeed lying down remembering me, the Bahlika, who dwells in Kuru.
शतद्रुकनदीं तीर्त्वा तां च रम्यामिरावतीम्। गत्वा स्वदेशं द्रक्ष्यामि स्थूलशङ्खाः शुभाः स्त्रियः ॥८-३०-२१॥
śatadrukanadīṃ tīrtvā tāṃ ca ramyāmirāvatīm। gatvā svadeśaṃ drakṣyāmi sthūlaśaṅkhāḥ śubhāḥ striyaḥ ॥8-30-21॥

(Having crossed the river Śatadru and that beautiful Irāvatī, having gone to my own country, I shall see large conch-shells and auspicious women.)
After crossing the river Śatadru and the beautiful Irāvatī, I will return to my homeland and witness the large conch-shells and auspicious women.
मनःशिलोज्ज्वलापाङ्गा गौर्यस्त्रिककुदाञ्जनाः। केवलाजिनसंवीताः कूर्दन्त्यः प्रियदर्शनाः ॥८-३०-२२॥

People are always adept at handling others' affairs, but when it comes to their own, they often find themselves confused, even if they are aware.

karṇo'pi nottaraṃ prāha śalyo'pyabhimukhaḥ parān। punaḥ prahasya rādheyaḥ punaryāhītyacodayat ॥8-30-88॥

(Karna also did not reply, Shalya too facing the enemies. Again, smiling, Radheya urged again, "Go thus.")
Karna did not respond, and Shalya, facing the enemies, also remained silent. Smiling again, Radheya urged once more, "Go ahead."
