Core and Pancharatra: While the morale of the Karuava army is low, King Shalya makes a brave attempt to attack Yudhisthira. But Sahadeva kills his son, and Bhima takes on Shalya and makes him chariot less, forcing him to retreat.

tasmin vilulite sainye vadhyamāne parasparam। dravamāṇeṣu yodheṣu ninadatsu ca dantiṣu ॥9-10-1॥
[तस्मिन् (tasmin) - in that; विलुलिते (vilulite) - disordered; सैन्ये (sainye) - army; वध्यमाने (vadhyamāne) - being killed; परस्परम् (parasparam) - each other; द्रवमाणेषु (dravamāṇeṣu) - fleeing; योधेषु (yodheṣu) - among warriors; निनदत्सु (ninadatsu) - sounding; च (ca) - and; दन्तिषु (dantiṣu) - among elephants;]
(In that disordered army, being killed by each other, with warriors fleeing and elephants sounding.)
In that chaotic army, as soldiers were being slain by one another, warriors began to flee and the elephants trumpeted.
कूजतां स्तनतां चैव पदातीनां महाहवे। विद्रुतेषु महाराज हयेषु बहुधा तदा ॥९-१०-२॥

प्रक्षये दारुणे जाते संहारे सर्वदेहिनाम्। नानाशस्त्रसमावापे व्यतिषक्तरथद्विपे ॥९-१०-३॥
prakṣaye dāruṇe jāte saṃhāre sarvadehinām। nānāśastrasamāvāpe vyatiṣaktarathadvipe ॥9-10-3॥

प्राणादाने महाघोरे वर्तमाने दुरोदरे। सङ्ग्रामे घोररूपे तु यमराष्ट्रविवर्धने ॥९-१०-५॥

पाण्डवास्तावकं सैन्यं व्यधमन्निशितैः शरैः। तथैव तावका योधा जघ्नुः पाण्डवसैनिकान् ॥९-१०-६॥

(The Pandavas scattered your army with sharp arrows. Similarly, your warriors killed the Pandava soldiers.)

लब्धलक्षाः परे राजन्रक्षिताश्च महात्मना। अयोधयंस्तव बलं मृत्युं कृत्वा निवर्तनम् ॥९-१०-८॥

(Shalya, like the thousand-eyed (Indra), poured a shower of arrows, undaunted, upon Kunti's son Yudhishthira.)

(Dhṛṣṭadyumna and Śaineya and Śikhaṇḍin, then also, each one was pierced with ten arrows by the mighty one. Then he released a shower of arrows like Maghavan (Indra) at the end of summer.)
