sarasvatyāḥ prabhāvo'yamuktaste dvijasattama। kumārasyābhiṣekaṃ tu brahmanvyākhyātumarhasi ॥9-43-1॥

O Janamejaya, this curiosity of yours, akin to that of the Kuru dynasty, brings joy through my words.
हन्त ते कथयिष्यामि शृण्वानस्य जनाधिप। अभिषेकं कुमारस्य प्रभावं च महात्मनः ॥९-४३-५॥
hanta te kathayiṣyāmi śṛṇvānasya janādhipa। abhiṣekaṃ kumārasya prabhāvaṃ ca mahātmanaḥ ॥9-43-5॥

तेजो माहेश्वरं स्कन्नमग्नौ प्रपतितं पुरा। तत्सर्वभक्षो भगवान्नाशकद्दग्धुमक्षयम् ॥९-४३-६॥
tejo māheśvaraṃ skannamagnau prapatitaṃ purā। tatsarvabhakṣo bhagavānnāśakaddagdhumakṣayam ॥9-43-6॥
[तेजः (tejaḥ) - energy; माहेश्वरम् (māheśvaram) - of Lord Shiva; स्कन्नम् (skannam) - fallen; अग्नौ (agnau) - into fire; प्रपतितम् (prapatitam) - fallen; पुरा (purā) - formerly; तत् (tat) - that; सर्वभक्षः (sarvabhakṣaḥ) - all-devouring; भगवान् (bhagavān) - the Lord; नाशकद् (nāśakad) - was able to destroy; दग्धुम् (dagdhum) - to burn; अक्षयम् (akṣayam) - indestructible;]
(The energy of Lord Shiva, having fallen into the fire, was formerly all-devouring. The Lord was able to destroy the indestructible by burning.)

तेनासीदति तेजस्वी दीप्तिमान्हव्यवाहनः। न चैव धारयामास गर्भं तेजोमयं तदा ॥९-४३-७॥
tenāsīdati tejasvī dīptimānhavyavāhanaḥ। na caiva dhārayāmāsa garbhaṃ tejomayaṃ tadā ॥9-43-7॥
[तेन (tena) - by him; आसीत् (āsīt) - was; अति (ati) - very; तेजस्वी (tejasvī) - brilliant; दीप्तिमान् (dīptimān) - radiant; हव्यवाहनः (havyavāhanaḥ) - fire; न (na) - not; च (ca) - and; एव (eva) - indeed; धारयामास (dhārayāmāsa) - held; गर्भम् (garbham) - embryo; तेजोमयम् (tejomayam) - full of energy; तदा (tadā) - then;]
(By him, the very brilliant and radiant fire was. And indeed, he did not hold the embryo full of energy then.)

स गङ्गामभिसङ्गम्य नियोगाद्ब्रह्मणः प्रभुः। गर्भमाहितवान्दिव्यं भास्करोपमतेजसम् ॥९-४३-८॥
sa gaṅgām abhisaṅgamya niyogād brahmaṇaḥ prabhuḥ। garbham āhitavān divyaṃ bhāskaropama-tejasam ॥9-43-8॥

(Knowing their emotion, the divine lord drank the flowing milk of the mothers with six mouths then.)

तं प्रभावं समालक्ष्य तस्य बालस्य कृत्तिकाः। परं विस्मयमापन्ना देव्यो दिव्यवपुर्धराः ॥९-४३-१३॥
taṁ prabhāvaṁ samālakṣya tasya bālasya kṛttikāḥ। paraṁ vismayamāpannā devyo divyavapur-dharāḥ ॥9-43-13॥

(Observing that power of the boy, the Krittikas, the goddesses bearing divine forms, attained great wonder.)

यत्रोत्सृष्टः स भगवान्गङ्गया गिरिमूर्धनि। स शैलः काञ्चनः सर्वः सम्बभौ कुरुसत्तम ॥९-४३-१४॥

वर्धता चैव गर्भेण पृथिवी तेन रञ्जिता। अतश्च सर्वे संवृत्ता गिरयः काञ्चनाकराः ॥९-४३-१५॥
