एवमग्राह्यके तस्मिञ्ज्ञातिसम्बन्धिमण्डले। मित्रेष्वमित्रेष्वपि च कथं भावो विभाव्यते ॥१२-८२-१॥
evam-agrāhyake tasmin-jñāti-sambandhi-maṇḍale। mitreṣu-amitreṣu-api ca kathaṃ bhāvaḥ vibhāvyate ॥12-82-1॥

(Thus, in the not-to-be-accepted, in that circle connected with relatives, among friends and among enemies also and how the state is discerned.)
Thus, in such a circle connected with relatives, how is the state discerned among friends and enemies alike?

atrāpy udāharantīmam itihāsaṃ purātanam। vāsudevasya saṃvādaṃ surarṣer nāradasya ca ॥12-82-2॥

नासुहृत्परमं मन्त्रं नारदार्हति वेदितुम्। अपण्डितो वापि सुहृत्पण्डितो वापि नात्मवान् ॥१२-८२-३॥
nāsuhṛtparamaṃ mantraṃ nāradārhati veditum। apaṇḍito vāpi suhṛtpaṇḍito vāpi nātmavān ॥12-82-3॥

(Not a non-friend the supreme teaching Nārada is worthy to know. Not learned or even a true friend, learned or even not self-possessed.)
Nārada, one who is not a true friend is not worthy to know the supreme teaching. Whether unlearned or even a true friend, learned or even, if not self-possessed.
स ते सौहृदमास्थाय किञ्चिद्वक्ष्यामि नारद। कृत्स्नां च बुद्धिं सम्प्रेक्ष्य सम्पृच्छे त्रिदिवङ्गम ॥१२-८२-४॥
sa te sauhṛdam āsthāya kiñcid vakṣyāmi nārada। kṛtsnāṃ ca buddhiṃ samprekṣya sampṛcche tridivaṅgama ॥12-82-4॥

दास्यमैश्वर्यवादेन ज्ञातीनां वै करोम्यहम्। अर्धभोक्तास्मि भोगानां वाग्दुरुक्तानि च क्षमे ॥१२-८२-५॥
dāsyamaiśvaryavādena jñātīnāṃ vai karomyaham। ardhabhoktāsmi bhogānāṃ vāgduruktāni ca kṣame ॥12-82-5॥

(Servitude, by the assertion of sovereignty, of kinsmen, indeed, I do, I. Half enjoyer am, of enjoyments. Speech, harsh words, and, I forgive.)
I act in servitude to my kinsmen by the assertion of sovereignty. I am the half-enjoyer of enjoyments. I forgive harsh words and speech.
अरणीमग्निकामो वा मथ्नाति हृदयं मम। वाचा दुरुक्तं देवर्षे तन्मे दहति नित्यदा ॥१२-८२-६॥
araṇīmagni-kāmo vā mathnāti hṛdayaṃ mama। vācā duruktaṃ devarṣe tan me dahati nityadā॥12-82-6॥
[अरणीम् (araṇīm) - fire-stick; (used for kindling fire in Vedic ritual); अग्निकामः (agni-kāmaḥ) - desiring fire; (one who wishes to produce fire); वा (vā) - or; मथ्नाति (mathnāti) - churns; (rubs to produce fire); हृदयं (hṛdayam) - heart; मम (mama) - my; वाचा (vācā) - by speech; दुरुक्तम् (duruktam) - harsh word; (evil speech); देवर्षे (devarṣe) - O divine sage; तत् (tat) - that; मे (me) - to me; दहति (dahati) - burns; नित्यदा (nityadā) - always;]
(Or, like one desiring fire churns the fire-stick, my heart is churned. O divine sage, by speech, a harsh word, that burns me always.)
Just as one who desires fire churns the fire-stick, so too is my heart churned. O divine sage, a harsh word spoken burns me always.
बलं सङ्कर्षणे नित्यं सौकुमार्यं पुनर्गदे। रूपेण मत्तः प्रद्युम्नः सोऽसहायोऽस्मि नारद ॥१२-८२-७॥
balaṃ saṅkarṣaṇe nityaṃ saukumāryaṃ punargade। rūpeṇa mattaḥ pradyumnaḥ so'sahāyo'smi nārada ॥12-82-7॥

(Strength is in Saṅkarṣaṇa always; delicacy again in Gada; by beauty intoxicated is Pradyumna; he am helpless, O Nārada.)
O Nārada, strength always resides in Saṅkarṣaṇa, delicacy again in Gada, Pradyumna is intoxicated by beauty, and I am helpless.
अन्ये हि सुमहाभागा बलवन्तो दुरासदाः। नित्योत्थानेन सम्पन्ना नारदान्धकवृष्णयः ॥१२-८२-८॥
anye hi sumahābhāgā balavanto durāsadāḥ। nityotthānena sampannā nāradāndhakavṛṣṇayaḥ ॥12-82-8॥
[अन्ये (anye) - others; हि (hi) - indeed; सुमहाभागाः (sumahābhāgāḥ) - very highly fortunate ones; बलवन्तः (balavantaḥ) - powerful ones; दुरासदाः (durāsadāḥ) - difficult to approach; नित्य (nitya) - always; उत्थानेन (utthānena) - by effort; सम्पन्नाः (sampannāḥ) - endowed; नारद (nārada) - O Nārada; आन्धकवृष्णयः (āndhakavṛṣṇayaḥ) - the Andhakas and Vṛṣṇis (clans);]
(Others indeed, very highly fortunate, powerful, difficult to approach, always endowed with effort, O Nārada, (are) the Andhakas and Vṛṣṇis.)
O Nārada, the Andhakas and Vṛṣṇis are others who are indeed very fortunate, powerful, difficult to approach, and always endowed with effort.
यस्य न स्युर्न वै स स्याद्यस्य स्युः कृच्छ्रमेव तत्। द्वाभ्यां निवारितो नित्यं वृणोम्येकतरं न च ॥१२-८२-९॥
yasya na syur na vai sa syād yasya syuḥ kṛcchram eva tat। dvābhyāṃ nivārito nityaṃ vṛṇomi ekataraṃ na ca॥12-82-9॥
[यस्य (yasya) - of whom; न (na) - not; स्युः (syuḥ) - would be; न (na) - not; वै (vai) - indeed; सः (saḥ) - he; स्यात् (syāt) - would be; यस्य (yasya) - of whom; स्युः (syuḥ) - would be; कृच्छ्रम् (kṛcchram) - difficulty; एव (eva) - only; तत् (tat) - that; द्वाभ्याम् (dvābhyām) - by two; निवारितः (nivāritaḥ) - prevented; नित्यं (nityam) - always; वृणोमि (vṛṇomi) - I choose; एकतरम् (ekataram) - either one; न (na) - not; च (ca) - and;]
(Of whom they would not be, indeed he would not be; of whom they would be, only that is difficulty. By two always prevented, I choose either one and not.)
He for whom they do not exist, indeed he does not exist; for whom they exist, that alone is difficulty. Always prevented by both, I choose either one, not both.
स्यातां यस्याहुकाक्रूरौ किं नु दुःखतरं ततः। यस्य वापि न तौ स्यातां किं नु दुःखतरं ततः ॥१२-८२-१०॥
syātāṃ yasyāhukākrūrau kiṃ nu duḥkhataraṃ tataḥ। yasya vāpi na tau syātāṃ kiṃ nu duḥkhataraṃ tataḥ ॥12-82-10॥

For whom Āhuka and Akrūra exist, what could be more sorrowful than that? Or for whom even those two do not exist, what could be more sorrowful than that?
सोऽहं कितवमातेव द्वयोरपि महामुने। एकस्य जयमाशंसे द्वितीयस्यापराजयम् ॥१२-८२-११॥
so'ham kitavamāteva dvayor api mahāmune| ekasya jayam āśaṃse dvitīyasya aparājayam ॥12-82-11॥
[सः (saḥ) - he; अहम् (aham) - I; कितवमातेव (kitavamāteva) - like the mother of a gambler; द्वयोः (dvayoḥ) - of two; अपि (api) - even; महामुने (mahāmune) - O great sage; एकस्य (ekasya) - of one; जयम् (jayam) - victory; आशंसे (āśaṃse) - I wish; द्वितीयस्य (dvitīyasya) - of the second; अपराजयम् (aparājayam) - not defeat;]
(He I like the mother of a gambler of two even O great sage of one victory I wish of the second not defeat.)
O great sage, I am like the mother of a gambler: for both sides, I wish for the victory of one and for the other, not defeat.
ममैवं क्लिश्यमानस्य नारदोभयतः सदा। वक्तुमर्हसि यच्छ्रेयो ज्ञातीनामात्मनस्तथा ॥१२-८२-१२॥
mamai̱vaṃ kliśyamānasya nāradobhayataḥ sadā। vaktumarhasi yacchreyo jñātīnāmatmanastathā ॥12-82-12॥
[मम (mama) - of me; एवम् (evam) - thus; क्लिश्यमानस्य (kliśyamānasya) - of the one being afflicted; नारद (nārada) - O Nārada; उभयतः (ubhayataḥ) - from both sides; सदा (sadā) - always; वक्तुम् (vaktum) - to speak; अर्हसि (arhasi) - you ought; यत् (yat) - which; श्रेयः (śreyaḥ) - the best; ज्ञातीनाम् (jñātīnām) - of the relatives; आत्मनः (ātmanaḥ) - of oneself; तथा (tathā) - likewise;]
(Of me thus being afflicted, O Nārada, from both sides always, you ought to speak that which is the best for the relatives and for oneself likewise.)
O Nārada, as I am thus afflicted from both sides at all times, you should tell me what is best for both my relatives and myself.

आपदो द्विविधाः कृष्ण बाह्याश्चाभ्यन्तराश्च ह। प्रादुर्भवन्ति वार्ष्णेय स्वकृता यदि वान्यतः ॥१२-८२-१३॥
āpado dvividhāḥ kṛṣṇa bāhyāś cābhyantarāś ca ha। prādurbhavanti vārṣṇeya svakṛtā yadi vānyataḥ॥12-82-13॥
[आपदः (āpadaḥ) - difficulties; calamities; द्विविधाः (dvividhāḥ) - of two kinds; कृष्ण (kṛṣṇa) - O Kṛṣṇa; बाह्याः (bāhyāḥ) - external; च (ca) - and; अभ्यन्तराः (abhyantarāḥ) - internal; च (ca) - and; ह (ha) - indeed; प्रादुर्भवन्ति (prādurbhavanti) - arise; manifest; वार्ष्णेय (vārṣṇeya) - O descendant of Vṛṣṇi; O Vārṣṇeya; स्वकृताः (svakṛtāḥ) - self-caused; created by oneself; यदि (yadi) - if; वा (vā) - or; अन्यतः (anyataḥ) - from elsewhere;]
(Difficulties are of two kinds, O Kṛṣṇa: external and internal indeed. They arise, O Vārṣṇeya, either by oneself or from elsewhere, if at all.)
O Kṛṣṇa, difficulties are of two kinds: external and internal. O Vārṣṇeya, they arise either due to one's own actions or from other sources.
सेयमाभ्यन्तरा तुभ्यमापत्कृच्छ्रा स्वकर्मजा। अक्रूरभोजप्रभवाः सर्वे ह्येते तदन्वयाः ॥१२-८२-१४॥
seyamābhyantarā tubhyamāpatkṛcchrā svakarmajā। akrūrabhojaprabhavāḥ sarve hyete tadanvayāḥ ॥12-82-14॥
[सा (sā) - she; इयम् (iyam) - this; आभ्यन्तरा (ābhyantarā) - internal; तुभ्यम् (tubhyam) - to you; आपत् (āpat) - calamity; कृच्छ्रा (kṛcchrā) - difficult; स्वकर्मजा (svakarmajā) - born of one's own actions; अक्रूर (akrūra) - Akrūra; भोज (bhoja) - Bhoja; प्रभवाः (prabhavāḥ) - descendants; सर्वे (sarve) - all; हि (hi) - indeed; एते (ete) - these; तदन्वयाः (tadanvayāḥ) - of that lineage;]
(She, this internal calamity, difficult, born of your own actions, to you. Akrūra, Bhoja, descendants, all indeed these are of that lineage.)
This internal calamity that has come to you is difficult and is born of your own actions. All these, Akrūra, Bhoja and the others, are indeed descendants of that lineage.
अर्थहेतोर्हि कामाद्वाद्वारा बीभत्सयापि वा। आत्मना प्राप्तमैश्वर्यमन्यत्र प्रतिपादितम् ॥१२-८२-१५॥
artha-hetor hi kāmād vā dvārā bībhatsayā api vā। ātmanā prāptam aiśvaryam anyatra pratipāditam ॥12-82-15॥
[अर्थ-हेतोः (artha-hetor) - for the sake of wealth; हि (hi) - indeed; कामात् (kāmāt) - from desire; वा (vā) - or; द्वारा (dvārā) - by means; बीभत्सया (bībhatsayā) - by disgust; अपि (api) - even; वा (vā) - or; आत्मना (ātmanā) - by oneself; प्राप्तम् (prāptam) - attained; ऐश्वर्यम् (aiśvaryam) - sovereignty; अन्यत्र (anyatra) - elsewhere; प्रतिपादितम् (pratipāditam) - has been established;]
(For the sake of wealth indeed, or by means of desire, or even by disgust, sovereignty attained by oneself has been established elsewhere.)

कृतमूलमिदानीं तज्जातशब्दं सहायवत्। न शक्यं पुनरादातुं वान्तमन्नमिव त्वया ॥१२-८२-१६॥
kṛtamūlam idānīṃ taj-jāta-śabdaṃ sahāya-vat। na śakyaṃ punar ādātuṃ vānta-annam iva tvayā ॥12-82-16॥
[कृतमूलम् (kṛtamūlam) - with the root done; इदानीम् (idānīṃ) - now; तत् (tat) - that; जातशब्दम् (jātaśabdam) - arisen word; सहायवत् (sahāyavat) - like a companion; न (na) - not; शक्यम् (śakyam) - possible; पुनः (punaḥ) - again; आदातुम् (ādātum) - to take; वान्तम् (vāntam) - vomited; अन्नम् (annam) - food; इव (iva) - like; त्वया (tvayā) - by you;]
(With the root done, now that arisen word is like a companion; it is not possible to take again by you, like vomited food.)

बभ्रूग्रसेनयो राज्यं नाप्तुं शक्यं कथञ्चन। ज्ञातिभेदभयात्कृष्ण त्वया चापि विशेषतः ॥१२-८२-१७॥
babhrūgrasenayo rājyaṃ nāptuṃ śakyaṃ kathaṃcana। jñātibhedabhayātkṛṣṇa tvayā cāpi viśeṣataḥ ॥12-82-17॥

(For Babhrū and Ugrasena, the kingdom is not possible to obtain in any way, O Krishna, due to fear of division among kinsmen, and especially by you also.)
O Krishna, neither Babhrū nor Ugrasena can possibly obtain the kingdom in any way, especially because of the fear of division among kinsmen, and particularly not by you.
तच्चेत्सिध्येत्प्रयत्नेन कृत्वा कर्म सुदुष्करम्। महाक्षयव्ययं वा स्याद्विनाशो वा पुनर्भवेत् ॥१२-८२-१८॥
tac cet sidhyet prayatnena kṛtvā karma suduṣkaram। mahākṣayavyayaṃ vā syād vināśo vā punar bhavet ॥12-82-18॥
[तत् (tat) - that; चेत् (cet) - if; सिध्येत् (sidhyet) - would succeed; प्रयत्नेन (prayatnena) - by effort; कृत्वा (kṛtvā) - having done; कर्म (karma) - action; सुदुष्करम् (suduṣkaram) - very difficult; महाक्षयव्ययम् (mahākṣayavyayam) - great loss and expense; वा (vā) - or; स्यात् (syāt) - may be; विनाशः (vināśaḥ) - destruction; वा (vā) - or; पुनः (punar) - again; भवेत् (bhavet) - may occur;]
(That, if would succeed by effort, having done action very difficult, great loss and expense or may be, destruction or again may occur.)
If that action, though very difficult, is accomplished by effort, it may result in great loss and expense, or there may be destruction, or it may happen again.
अनायसेन शस्त्रेण मृदुना हृदयच्छिदा। जिह्वामुद्धर सर्वेषां परिमृज्यानुमृज्य च ॥१२-८२-१९॥
anāyasena śastreṇa mṛdunā hṛdayacchidā। jihvām uddhara sarveṣāṃ parimṛjyā anumṛjya ca ॥12-82-19॥
[अनायसेन (anāyasena) - without effort; शस्त्रेण (śastreṇa) - with a weapon; मृदुना (mṛdunā) - with a gentle; हृदयच्छिदा (hṛdayacchidā) - heart-piercing; जिह्वाम् (jihvām) - tongue; उद्धर (uddhara) - lift up; सर्वेषाम् (sarveṣām) - of all; परिमृज्य (parimṛjya) - having wiped; अनुमृज्य (anumṛjya) - having wiped after; च (ca) - and;]
(Without effort, with a weapon, with a gentle, heart-piercing, the tongue lift up of all, having wiped, having wiped after, and.)
With a gentle, heart-piercing weapon, effortlessly lift up the tongue of all, having wiped and re-wiped it.

अनायसं मुने शस्त्रं मृदु विद्यामहं कथम्। येनैषामुद्धरे जिह्वां परिमृज्यानुमृज्य च ॥१२-८२-२०॥
anāyasaṃ mune śastraṃ mṛdu vidyāmahaṃ katham। yenaiṣāmuddhare jihvāṃ parimṛjyānumṛjya ca ॥12-82-20॥

(Without effort, O sage, a gentle instrument how may I know, by which of these I may lift the tongue, having wiped and having wiped again, and.)
O sage, tell me how I may know of a gentle instrument, by which, without effort, I may lift their tongue, having wiped and wiped again.

शक्त्यान्नदानं सततं तितिक्षा दम आर्जवम्। यथार्हप्रतिपूजा च शस्त्रमेतदनायसम् ॥१२-८२-२१॥
śakty-anna-dānaṃ satataṃ titikṣā dama ārjavam। yathārha-pratipūjā ca śastram etad anāyasam ॥12-82-21॥
[शक्त्या (śaktyā) - with ability; by one's power; अन्नदानं (anna-dānam) - giving of food; सततं (satatam) - always; continuously; तितिक्षा (titikṣā) - forbearance; endurance; दम (dama) - self-restraint; control of senses; आर्जवम् (ārjavam) - straightforwardness; honesty; यथार्ह (yathārha) - as is proper; as deserved; प्रतिपूजा (pratipūjā) - due honour; proper worship; च (ca) - and; शस्त्रम् (śastram) - teaching; scripture; एतत् (etat) - this; अनायसम् (anāyasam) - without difficulty; effortless;]
(With ability, giving of food always, forbearance, self-restraint, straightforwardness, as is proper due honour and teaching—this is effortless.)
Giving food to the best of one's ability at all times, forbearance, self-control, honesty, proper respect as deserved, and teaching—these are effortless virtues.
ज्ञातीनां वक्तुकामानां कटूनि च लघूनि च। गिरा त्वं हृदयं वाचं शमयस्व मनांसि च ॥१२-८२-२२॥
jñātīnāṃ vaktukāmānāṃ kaṭūni ca laghūni ca। girā tvaṃ hṛdayaṃ vācaṃ śamayasva manāṃsi ca ॥12-82-22॥
[ज्ञातीनाम् (jñātīnām) - of relatives; वक्तुकामानाम् (vaktukāmānām) - of those desiring to speak; कटूनि (kaṭūni) - harsh (words); च (ca) - and; लघूनि (laghūni) - light (words); च (ca) - and; गिरा (girā) - by speech; त्वम् (tvam) - you; हृदयं (hṛdayam) - heart; वाचम् (vācām) - words; शमयस्व (śamayasva) - pacify; मनांसि (manāṃsi) - minds; च (ca) - and;]
(Of relatives, of those desiring to speak, harsh and light (words); by speech, you, the heart, words, pacify, minds and.)
Pacify the hearts and minds of your relatives and those wishing to speak, whether their words are harsh or light, by your speech.
नामहापुरुषः कश्चिन्नानात्मा नासहायवान्। महतीं धुरमादत्ते तामुद्यम्योरसा वह ॥१२-८२-२३॥
nāma-puruṣaḥ kaścin nānātmā na-asahāyavān। mahatīṃ dhuram ādatte tām udyamya urasā vaha ॥12-82-23॥
[नाम (nāma) - name; पुरुषः (puruṣaḥ) - person; कश्चित् (kaścit) - any; न (na) - not; अनात्मा (anātmā) - without self; न (na) - not; असहायवान् (asahāyavān) - without helper; महतीम् (mahatīm) - great; धुरम् (dhuram) - burden; आदत्ते (ādatte) - takes up; ताम् (tām) - that; उद्यम्य (udyamya) - having lifted; उरसा (urasā) - with the chest; वह (vaha) - bear;]
(No person who is merely a name, not self-possessed, not having a helper, takes up a great burden; having lifted that with the chest, bear (it).)
No one who is only a person in name, lacking self-possession and without support, takes up a great burden; having lifted it with his chest, he bears it.
सर्व एव गुरुं भारमनड्वान्वहते समे। दुर्गे प्रतीकः सुगवो भारं वहति दुर्वहम् ॥१२-८२-२४॥
sarva eva guruṃ bhāram aṇḍvān vahate same। durge pratīkaḥ sugavo bhāraṃ vahati durvaham ॥12-82-24॥
[सर्व (sarva) - all; एव (eva) - indeed; गुरुम् (gurum) - heavy; भारम् (bhāram) - burden; अनड्वान् (aṇḍvān) - ox; वहते (vahate) - carries; समे (same) - on level ground; दुर्गे (durge) - on difficult path; प्रतीकः (pratīkaḥ) - representative; सुगवः (sugavaḥ) - good ox; भारम् (bhāram) - burden; वहति (vahati) - carries; दुर्वहम् (durvaham) - hard to bear;]
(All indeed the heavy burden the ox carries on level ground. On a difficult path, the representative good ox carries a burden hard to bear.)
All indeed carry a heavy burden on level ground, but on a difficult path, only a good ox, as a representative, carries a burden that is hard to bear.
भेदाद्विनाशः सङ्घानां सङ्घमुख्योऽसि केशव। यथा त्वां प्राप्य नोत्सीदेदयं सङ्घस्तथा कुरु ॥१२-८२-२५॥
bhedād vināśaḥ saṅghānāṃ saṅghamukhyo'si keśava। yathā tvāṃ prāpya notsīded ayaṃ saṅghaḥ tathā kuru ॥12-82-25॥
[भेदात् (bhedāt) - from division; विनाशः (vināśaḥ) - destruction; सङ्घानाम् (saṅghānām) - of groups; सङ्घमुख्यः (saṅghamukhyaḥ) - chief of the group; असि (asi) - you are; केशव (keśava) - Keśava; यथा (yathā) - just as; त्वाम् (tvām) - you; प्राप्य (prāpya) - having obtained; न (na) - not; उत्सीदेत् (utsīdet) - would perish; अयम् (ayam) - this; सङ्घः (saṅghaḥ) - group; तथा (tathā) - so; कुरु (kuru) - do; १२-८२-२५ (12-82-25) - 12-82-25;]
(From division, destruction (arises) of groups; you are the chief of the group, Keśava. Just as, having obtained you, this group would not perish, so do (accordingly).)

नान्यत्र बुद्धिक्षान्तिभ्यां नान्यत्रेन्द्रियनिग्रहात्। नान्यत्र धनसन्त्यागाद्गणः प्राज्ञेऽवतिष्ठते ॥१२-८२-२६॥
nānyatra buddhikṣāntibhyāṃ nānyatrendriyanigrahāt। nānyatra dhanasantyāgādgaṇaḥ prājñe'vatiṣṭhate ॥12-82-26॥
[न (na) - not; अन्यत्र (anyatra) - elsewhere; बुद्धि (buddhi) - intellect; क्षान्तिभ्यां (kṣāntibhyām) - and patience (two things); न (na) - not; अन्यत्र (anyatra) - elsewhere; इन्द्रिय (indriya) - senses; निग्रहात् (nigrahāt) - from restraint; न (na) - not; अन्यत्र (anyatra) - elsewhere; धन (dhana) - wealth; सन्त्यागात् (santyāgāt) - from abandonment; गणः (gaṇaḥ) - group (of people); प्राज्ञे (prājñe) - in the wise; अवतिष्ठते (avatiṣṭhate) - remains;]
(Not elsewhere than from intellect and patience, not elsewhere than from restraint of the senses, not elsewhere than from abandonment of wealth, does a group remain among the wise.)
A group remains among the wise only through intellect and patience, only through restraint of the senses, and only through the abandonment of wealth.
धन्यं यशस्यमायुष्यं स्वपक्षोद्भावनं शुभम्। ज्ञातीनामविनाशः स्याद्यथा कृष्ण तथा कुरु ॥१२-८२-२७॥
dhanyaṃ yaśasyam āyuṣyam svapakṣodbhāvanaṃ śubham। jñātīnām avināśaḥ syād yathā kṛṣṇa tathā kuru ॥12-82-27॥
[धन्यं (dhanyaṃ) - fortunate; blessed; यशस्य (yaśasya) - of fame; glorious; आयुष्यं (āyuṣyam) - life-giving; promoting longevity; स्वपक्षोद्भावनं (svapakṣodbhāvanam) - the advancement of one's own side; शुभम् (śubham) - auspicious; good; ज्ञातीनाम् (jñātīnām) - of relatives; of kinsmen; अविनाशः (avināśaḥ) - indestructibility; immortality; स्यात् (syāt) - may be; would be; यथा (yathā) - just as; like; कृष्ण (kṛṣṇa) - Kṛṣṇa; तथा (tathā) - so; in that way; कुरु (kuru) - do; perform;]
(Fortunate, glorious, life-giving, the advancement of one's own side, auspicious; of relatives, indestructibility may be; just as Kṛṣṇa, so do.)
Do that which is fortunate, glorious, life-giving, and auspicious, and which advances your own side; let there be indestructibility for your relatives, just as it is for Kṛṣṇa.
आयत्यां च तदात्वे च न तेऽस्त्यविदितं प्रभो। षाड्गुण्यस्य विधानेन यात्रायानविधौ तथा ॥१२-८२-२८॥
āyatyāṃ ca tadātve ca na te'styaviditaṃ prabho। ṣāḍguṇyasya vidhānena yātrāyānavidhau tathā ॥12-82-28॥
[आयत्याम् (āyatyām) - in the future; च (ca) - and; तदात्वे (tadātve) - at that time; च (ca) - and; न (na) - not; ते (te) - to you; अस्ति (asti) - is; अविदितम् (aviditam) - unknown; प्रभो (prabho) - O lord; षाड्गुण्यस्य (ṣāḍguṇyasya) - of the sixfold policy; विधानेन (vidhānena) - by the arrangement; यात्रायानविधौ (yātrāyānavidhau) - in the regulation of march and non-march; तथा (tathā) - likewise;]
(In the future and at that time, O lord, nothing is unknown to you, by the arrangement of the sixfold policy, likewise in the regulation of march and non-march.)
O lord, in the future and at that time, nothing is unknown to you regarding the arrangement of the sixfold policy and the regulation of march and non-march.
माधवाः कुकुरा भोजाः सर्वे चान्धकवृष्णयः। त्वय्यासक्ता महाबाहो लोका लोकेश्वराश्च ये ॥१२-८२-२९॥
mādhavāḥ kukurā bhojāḥ sarve cāndhakavṛṣṇayaḥ। tvayyāsaktā mahābāho lokā lokeśvarāśca ye ॥12-82-29॥
[माधवाः (mādhavāḥ) - descendants of Madhu; कुकुराः (kukurāḥ) - Kukura clan; भोजाः (bhojāḥ) - Bhoja clan; सर्वे (sarve) - all; च (ca) - and; अन्धकवृष्णयः (andhakavṛṣṇayaḥ) - Andhaka and Vṛṣṇi clans; त्वयि (tvayi) - in you; आसक्ताः (āsaktāḥ) - attached; महाबाहो (mahābāho) - O mighty-armed; लोकाः (lokāḥ) - worlds; लोकेश्वराः (lokeśvarāḥ) - lords of the worlds; च (ca) - and; ये (ye) - who;]
(Descendants of Madhu, Kukura clan, Bhoja clan, all Andhaka and Vṛṣṇi clans, and those who are attached to you, O mighty-armed, the worlds and the lords of the worlds.)
O mighty-armed one, all the Mādhavas, Kukuras, Bhojas, Andhakas, Vṛṣṇis, and those who are devoted to you, as well as the worlds and their lords, are attached to you.
उपासते हि त्वद्बुद्धिमृषयश्चापि माधव। त्वं गुरुः सर्वभूतानां जानीषे त्वं गतागतम् ॥ त्वामासाद्य यदुश्रेष्ठमेधन्ते ज्ञातिनः सुखम् ॥१२-८२-३०॥
upāsate hi tvad-buddhim ṛṣayaś cāpi mādhava। tvaṃ guruḥ sarva-bhūtānāṃ jānīṣe tvaṃ gatāgatam॥ tvām āsādya yadu-śreṣṭha medhante jñātinaḥ sukham॥12-82-30॥
[उपासते (upāsate) - worship; (they) approach; हि (hi) - indeed; त्वत्-बुद्धिम् (tvat-buddhim) - your intellect; ऋषयः (ṛṣayaḥ) - sages; च (ca) - and; अपि (api) - also; माधव (mādhava) - O Mādhava; त्वम् (tvam) - you; गुरुः (guruḥ) - teacher; सर्वभूतानाम् (sarva-bhūtānām) - of all beings; जानीषे (jānīṣe) - (you) know; त्वम् (tvam) - you; गतागतम् (gatāgatam) - past and future; त्वाम् (tvām) - you; आसाद्य (āsādya) - having attained; यदुश्रेष्ठ (yadu-śreṣṭha) - O best of the Yadus; मेधन्ते (medhante) - prosper; ज्ञातिनः (jñātinaḥ) - kinsmen; सुखम् (sukham) - happiness;]
(Indeed, sages worship your intellect, O Mādhava; you are the teacher of all beings, you know the past and future. Having attained you, O best of the Yadus, kinsmen prosper in happiness.)
